The place is incredible - so beautiful, the pool is great, the neighborhood is quiet and 10min drive from the major Constantia wineries. When you drive in you feel like in a movie. The staff is one of a kind - super friendly, nice and professional. They were very helpful during our stay - we arrived early morning, we could join the breakfast and our room was ready as soon as we were done with breakfast. They even remembered that we drink our coffee with almond milk and left a small bottle of almond milk in our room fridge. Everything was done to make our stay special. The room itself was really nice - we’ve got a bungalow style room next to the pool, which was perfect. The only improvement would be the loud air con, but we visited in April so we actually didn’t need it much and didn’t ask anyone to fix it. And of course the food in both restaurants (as well as for breakfast) is spectacular. Apart from more casual lunch/dinner in the palm restaurant, we had an amazing bday dinner in Tafel restaurant. It couldn’t be better. It was an amazing stay and we would be back anytime. And thanks to all the staff for making our stay special.
A superb luxury hotel, beautiful setting. The best team I have ever experienced meeting. We were warmly welcomed by Christine, a huge shout out to her, her customer care is above and beyond, outstanding. As soon as we arrived in this wonderful place we immediately destressed thanks to Christine! The rooms are divine, the beds , absolute comfort. Our dining experience was equally wonderful, a big shout out to Richard who looked after us and to Ibrahim who gave us fantastic food and wine recommendations, Zara too, excellent customer care. We were greeted by Ilza the next morning, Susan on check out. We were sad to leave this fabulous hotel and its wonderful, dedicated team.
Lovely hotel with incredible staff. Friendly, attentive, humorous, professional, really a joy. Our room was beautiful and spacious. Only downside is shower that makes everything wet, but that to me is such a minor inconvenience that it did not matter to us. Food was also very good and pool was heated. Grounds well manicured. My 2 year old son was treated by everyone so friendly. Would stay again.
We visited Palm House Boutique Hotel Restaurant for a birthday lunch, and unfortunately the experience was a disappointment from the outset. On arrival, about half of the parking bays were closed due to maintenance, which was understandable. However, several of the remaining available bays were blocked off with cones. When we asked why we couldn’t park there, we were told they were reserved “for the boss.” What made this especially frustrating was that guests were instructed to park outside while staff-only parking remained available. While we were offloading our pram to avoid having to walk too far with our baby, the car guard initiated an unnecessarily rude and confrontational argument. He became so loud and aggressive that one of the hotel managers had to step in and call him off. Despite this, there was no meaningful apology, leaving the restaurant on the back foot before we had even sat down. We had a confirmed reservation for an outdoor table, but upon arrival our table was not ready. To our further frustration, the outdoor seating had been overbooked, and we were forced to sit indoors instead. The indoor atmosphere was uninviting and felt like a downgrade from what we had booked. The interior and overall setup of the hotel was disappointing, particularly when compared to other establishments in the same price range. The experience did not reflect the luxury pricing. What’s unfortunate is that the venue has good bones and wouldn’t require much to look exceptional — it could potentially resemble something as timeless and elegant as the Mount Nelson. Instead, details like cushion covers from Mr Price Home in the bar area and other inexpensive décor choices detracted from the boutique luxury experience the hotel appears to be marketing. There were no table linens or placemats, just crockery placed directly onto black veneer tables, which felt underwhelming — especially given how beautifully presented the food was. It also became difficult to fully appreciate the positives when confronted with details such as chipped glasses and a single shared towel in the restroom. These small but important touches made the space feel careless rather than refined. That said, the food itself was largely good, and the waitstaff were attentive and pleasant. Overall, while there were definite highlights, the experience did not justify the price. Unfortunately, the value for money simply wasn’t there.
