We spent four nights at Ellerman House in July and I can honestly say it was one of the most memorable hotel experiences we’ve ever had. It’s hard to explain the magic of this place. It never feels like a hotel. It truly feels like you’ve been welcomed into someone’s beautiful home. The service is the best we’ve experienced anywhere in the world. Every interaction felt genuine and personal, never scripted. There is so much included that makes the stay feel incredibly special. The private wine tasting and cellar tour at the property were fantastic, the complimentary pantry stocked with snacks was such a thoughtful touch, and every meal we had at OneEighty was exceptional. What really sets Ellerman apart, though, are the people. Ryan, the mixologist, was one of the highlights of our entire South Africa trip. Of course his cocktails were outstanding, but it was the conversations we had with him and the chance to connect with him as a human being that we’ll remember for a very long time. We genuinely hope he’s still there when we come back. Yassir helped plan our itinerary before we even arrived and provided the best concierge service we’ve ever experienced. Every recommendation was thoughtful and perfectly suited to what we were looking for. Aslam took us on a private tour through the Winelands and gave us one of the best days of our trip. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, easy to spend the day with, and a tremendous ambassador for both Ellerman and South Africa. Moses led our private wine tasting at Ellerman and made it unforgettable. His knowledge and passion for South African wines made the experience one of our favorite parts of the stay. Athule took care of us throughout much of our stay and somehow managed to make us feel like regulars instead of first-time guests. He was warm, attentive, and made us feel completely at home. We left already talking about when we’ll come back. That’s probably the highest compliment I can give. Ellerman House is unlike anywhere we’ve stayed before, and I honestly think the only way to understand it is to experience it for yourself.

We stayed here for a few days after our safari, and I have to say—while we received excellent service at the safari camp, this place actually surpassed it. The hospitality was absolutely phenomenal. From the moment we were picked up from the airport, everyone made us feel welcome. The entire staff was incredibly friendly, attentive. The manager was especially wonderful. It happened to be my husband’s birthday, and she surprised him with a beautiful cake,. The house itself is beautiful, cozy, and full of unique artwork. The food is great as well. The location is in a quieter residential area rather than on the waterfront, but we actually enjoyed that. It offers a different perspective of the city while still being very convenient—just a 7–10 minute Uber ride from the waterfront.
A trip to Ellerman House is something few people forget. The hotel from the outside is unassuming and doesn't scream for attention. On the inside, it is an art museum with a 5-Star hotel underneath. The hotel has only 13 rooms and two large villas. All around the property are paintings and sculptures that or unique and from all over the world. The staff outnumber the guests by a lot. Service is next level and very personal. This is a hotel that makes you feel like a Lord in his own mansion. It's not a place to go to people watch or be seen. It's a place that demands attention on its own. The views are awe inspiring. If you visit in winter go there early. One hour before sunset so you can experience the sunset from the top looking down at the ocean. In high season the hotel has limited capacity for dinner guests. Reservations are a must. There are no walk-ins. I've been to this hotel multiple times during my stay in Cape Town and will be a regular visit next time I go for sure. A trip to Cape Town is not complete until you experience this place. Oh did I tell you about the art gallery on the property? Don't get me started..
The hotel is beautiful, but the reservation service is impossible to reach. The management team is not up to standard when it comes to welcoming new clients. I went there to book directly, and I was simply told that I couldn’t enter.
After finally finding the house on a busy road..entering it and then the WOW wow wow. Most beautiful. The art on the wall. The art gallery. What really amazed me was the Wine gallery ..the amount of detail that was done there . The tour from Moses was outstanding. Service thru out our one nights stay was magnificent.
