What was supposed to be a relaxing stay quickly turned into an uncomfortable and stressful experience. We were told that one of the pillowcases had been stained, apparently by hair products, and were made to pay for it. What was particularly upsetting was the effect this had on the rest of our stay. After being charged for the pillowcase, we became extremely anxious about using anything in the room. We spent the remainder of our stay tiptoeing around, constantly worrying that we might accidentally stain something else and be charged again. Even something as basic as going to sleep became uncomfortable. We were so conscious of the bedding and everything around us that we couldn't properly relax or sleep. Instead of feeling at home and enjoying our stay, we felt like we were walking on eggshells. By the end, we genuinely wanted to leave simply so we could go somewhere we could sleep without worrying about what might happen next. A place of accommodation should provide a comfortable, welcoming environment where guests can relax — not leave them feeling like they're being monitored for potential damage and afraid to use the facilities normally. The way this situation was handled completely overshadowed our stay. Being charged over a pillowcase is one thing, but making guests feel so uncomfortable and anxious that they cannot even sleep properly is another. This was not a relaxing

If you're looking for a night out in Cape Town CBD, you won't find a much more central location. The room rate was very reasonable, and reception was efficient and friendly. Parking your vehicle can be a bit of a challenge, but if you're looking for old-fashioned hotel quality, comfort and functionality in the heart of the city, you can't go wrong with this hotel.
Sanelisiwe in the Dining Room made me feel appreciated. His service is outstanding! Thank you for making an ordinary breakfast extraordinary! I highly recommend staying here. All the staff are highly engaging, friendly and happy to ensure you have a great stay. Thanks again Sanelisiwe!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Star Review for Cape Town Lodge Hotel I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Cape Town Lodge Hotel. From the moment I arrived, the service was professional, friendly, and welcoming. To my surprise, I was upgraded to a luxury suite, which made my stay even more special. The suite was spacious, beautifully furnished, and exceptionally comfortable, with a stylish lounge area, a large bedroom, and excellent amenities. The exposed brickwork and modern décor created a unique atmosphere that felt both elegant and relaxing. The room was spotless, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was well-appointed and immaculate. I particularly appreciated the attention to detail and the generous space throughout the suite. The staff went above and beyond to ensure I had an enjoyable experience, and their hospitality truly stood out. The hotel's central location is also a great advantage for both business and leisure travellers exploring Cape Town. Thank you to the Cape Town Lodge Hotel team for making my stay memorable. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning in the future. Christine H. June 2026
I checked in during the evening and was pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade from a Superior Room to a Studio Room. The room was on the 9th floor—very spacious, with a large balcony and a nice view. A security deposit of R150 was taken at check-in, which is quite standard. The reception staff were polite and helpful throughout. However, a major downside was that no complimentary drinking water is provided. Even basic room service items, including water, are chargeable. For a 4-star hotel, this is a bit surprising—most hotels, even budget ones, usually provide at least one bottle per guest. Another issue was the outdated electrical fittings. The plugs and switches are very old, not user-friendly, and modern travel adapters don’t fit. The switch layout is also confusing. On the positive side, the breakfast was good and satisfying. Overall, a comfortable stay with a few areas that could definitely be improved.
