Great experience and easy to book. Mary and Blanca were great tour guides and very helpful. Would recommend

Itinerary
Tulum stands on a bluff facing east toward the Caribbean Sea. Tulúm is also the Yucatán Mayan word for fence, wall[1] or trench. The walls surrounding the site allowed the Tulum fort to be defended against invasions. Tulum had access to both land and sea trade routes, making it an important trade hub, especially for obsidian.
Discover the magic of the Mayan culture, in the turquoise waters of cenote Maiposa.

The Tulum ruins are absolutely fascinating. So beautiful and hard to believe they really exist. Bring an umbrella, it is extremely sunny with limited shade. Its also very very humid/ hot. The cenotes were refreshing after being so hot. There were 2 separate cenotes that you can swim in. They are cool water. This tour actually did a stop in playa del Carmen as well (surprise to us since it wasn't on the tour booking). It was fine but overpriced food and souvenirs. Our tour guide was top notch Estrella knew his stuff and was very helpful.
The ruins were so cool my favourite was elcastilo wich looked cool
Our Tulum and Cenote tour was absolutely spectacular, made unforgettable by the incredible team of guides—Kauil, Moo, and Estrella. Their deep knowledge of Mayan history, combined with high energy and personal care, made every moment engaging. The transportation was top-notch, featuring extremely clean, comfortable, and air-conditioned buses, ensuring a refreshing experience between spots.
It was a very long day. Tulum was good but the lunch stop, Cenote and Playa del Carman were a little disappointing.
We found the Tulum ruins not to be that great, especially compared to Chitzenitza or Uzmal. Nice view but also could not see the inside of any of them…Playa del Carmen was just a tourist trip, and the Cenotes were just so-so. The lunch was the best part.
The organisation of the trip was excellent, and the guides were knowledgeable and engaging. However, the day felt unnecessarily prolonged due to a two-hour stop at Playa del Carmen on the return journey. As a western traveller, the shopping street offered little of interest and did not add value to the experience. Ending the tour around 6:00 pm would have been far more comfortable, whereas the late finish at 8:30 pm made the day long and tiring.
Great experience, if this was all I did the whole trip I would be content. We actually learned alot about Mayans, the culture, and the development of the cities. The tour guys were awesome Stich & Moo. Food was great, and the tour was very well planned. Cenotes were great!
Very well organized. The tour guides gave great explanations in both English and Spanish. They were also quite entertaining and funny
It was hot and expensive. It lasted a bit over an hour, and it was pretty crowded. There were English and Spanish tours. The staff was nice but took a while to explain multiple things. Overall, it was cool but very very humid.
This is for history lovers. I learned s lot about the Mayan history and culture. Moo wss so knowledgeable. It was very interesting.. The Cenotes are a natural wonder. The visit there is short but good you see. 5th Avenue in Tulum is for the tourist lover.
Tour guide never showed up. Had a hard time getting ahold of tour guide. Used chat on Viator app to try to communicate, never received a response. When hotel staff finally helped us get a hold of the tour guide, the tour guide said “we waited for you and you never showed up.” Without even attempting to call to see where we’re at.
Enjoyed the tour guides and Learned a lot! A relaxing day trip with various well-balanced activities.
The tour operator changed our pick up location the night before our tour. I called customer service to cancel the tour because booking confirmation states point of pick up is Amara beachfront condo.
We had the tour with Carlos Moo and Louis Estrella, and they were with very engaging the whole trip. The ride to Tulum was quite pleasant and the time in Tulum was really amazing with awesome views to the coast below the cliffs. They gave us a lot of time to just explore by ourselves, so it was more hands off than other tours I would Say. Carlos gave us some initial points of interest to check out and then we had an hour to see whatever we wanted. The two Cenotes were quite peaceful (One easier and not that deep, the second was underground and quite deep) and the lunch was nice with enough vegetarian options thankfully (not a given unfortunately these days) Lastly we had a good amount of time in the Playa de Carmen Avenue 5 to explore. It was nice way to end the trip. Thanks to both the guides and the driver for this nice day trip, would highly recommend!
We took this tour from the Riviera Maya but the Tulúm ruins are great and the tortuga cenotes are perfect for exploring different kinds within walking distance
They didnt inform us the day before abouth the time exactly for pick up. We were 4 girls. One enter to the mini van and the others waa coming the driver didnt wait. We spend more 100 usd with a taxi to go there just because our friend waa there whitouth speaking the language. The tour was fine, suzana and Fredie are very good and the places are very beautiful. The food is horrible we couldnt eat that was very bad
We did a half-day Tulum Mayan ruins tour. Booked through Amstar, but Cancun Adventures took us. We had Anna as our guide and Carlos as driver. They were amazing! Anna was SO knowledgeable. She holds two degrees and is working on a Master's as well. She knew so much about the culture and history and was incredibly courteous and considerate to each member of the group. It was a great day and we enjoyed it a lot!
The tour of the Mayan ruins in Tulum was just the right amount of time to explore. Our guide Freddy is THE BEST. He is knowledgeable and professional. And his infamous “whoo woo” call and response, keeps the group together and entertained. They allow you to leave your backpacks and personal items on the bus which is a real plus. Note there is NO PLASTIC allowed in the ruins, so I recommend bringing a Stanley (or similar) water canister if you wish to have water with you. . The driver Juan is excellent - smooth ride, perfect temperature. The Cenote is nice - the water is a little colder than expected, refreshing. BRING WEARABLE WATER SHOES. The bottom is slippery and some of the rocks are sharp. You can buy them there (approx $32USD), but IMO that is expensive. The free buffet was surprisingly good; fried fish, spaghetti, tacos, rice, black beans, salads, veggies, and lemonade and hibiscus juice are gratis. You can also purchase cocktails for an additional costs (approx $12). The only slight complaint was an additional stop at “5th Avenue Shops” in Playa Del Carmen. This was unexpected and added an additional 3hrs to our trip. We did, however have the BEST ICE CREAM & Sorbet at ALDO’s Ice Cream shop. We departed at 7:33am and arrived back close to 8pm. That’s much too long of a day.
This was an amazing experience we got to see the Tulum Ruins. Make sure to bring a hat, umbrella, fan. It gets hot. We went to two Cenotes that were beautiful. We also went to Playa del Carmen. You can eat and shop. Our tour guide Carlos is the best. He is of Mayan origin and knows the culture well. He is funny and friendly. Highly recommended this experience.
Beware when booking this tour because it is not a complete description. There is a stop to Playa del Carmen on the way back to the hotels for about an hour and a half that isn’t listed on the description and you’re stuck doing it because this is a shared tour. Although we enjoyed out visit to playa del Carmen we have to note that it was annoying finding out when we were already on the bus and were no expecting such a long day. They were also late in picking us up with no communication or warning. I also had to reach out to them the day before because we hadn’t received the details 48 hrs prior as stated on the details. The buffet is an additional $19 USD per person and drinks are also an extra charge.
Awesome experience seeing the Mayan ruins at Tulum My tour was a 1-1 with Raphael who had extensive knowledge and experience The electric vehicles were good and the site was outstanding but a shame that they had destroyed so much jungle I don’t understand why they didn’t have solar panels to generate electricity
great experience and i highly recommend. the guide was very friendly and informative and did a great job splitting his presentation between english and spanish. Tulum was fantastic and so was the cenotes
Amazing views great day out Eugenio was an excellent guide caves are so picturesque highly recommend wife and I loved it
Best adventure ever! It was everything as planned, and the tour guides were amazing! Also, they have a lot of knowledge and information I recommend 100%
The ruins themselves are very neat to see, however the recently added cost of the Jaguar Park makes the experience less than desirable.
This was well organized. Through Ekinox Tours. The tour guide was Luis Estraya. We were picked up at the meeting point ((Smart Oasis on Tulum). The shuttle picked us up at 8:45 AM, it was scheduled for 8:10. This is fine. We got to the bigger bus that was waiting for us. Seating was scramble seating, my wife and I managed to sit together but it was on the row of 5 seats in the back. Fortunately, all of the other people sitting in the back were in good shape, so we each had enough room. I wish it could have been assigned seats though. The bus was full with about 29 people. The bus had AC, but no washroom. Luis made sure we all did washroom breaks for each stop. Our first stop was Tulum. We only spent 2 hours there. One hour with the guide, 30 minutes of our free time, and 20 minutes to get back to the meeting point. We just wish we spent more time there, as the cenote was nice, but not the reason we went. We spent about 3 hours at the cenote for swim and lunch. . I brought my own lunch, but my wife paid the extra 18usd for the buffet. The time at playa del Carmen was 2 hours. My wife and I just walked down to the beach because we didn’t need to do any shopping. The tour guide gave the tour in English and Spanish. He kept the time well and answered all our questions.
Beautiful and worth seeing. We used the steps from the beach. If you are not used to step climbing--you may want to choose a tour.
Overall experience is good. Very comfortable ride, and excellent guide. However there is room for improvement-ride pickup takes too long and waiting for some guests who don’t show up on time, makes you wait causing delays.
I would not book any tour through viator again. It was extremely hard just to get the meeting point and the time from the agency taking us. Although they did email me about 8 hours before the excursion, it was a headache. Everyone on the tour got wrist bands for a free buffet however, viator did not offer that option. 100 percent recommend the tour it was awesome but do not book through here, majority of other couples on the bus said they booked at their hotel and/or Expedia
Great value…guide was very good we traveled with a 22 and 19 year old who also enjoyed it the cenote was beautiful highly recommend
Tulum is not good anymore, even ruins ,difficult to find free beach, look like become money grabbing place ,wonder if cartels put hands on this city,I was few years back and was different story, better to go a different place,I appreciate much more cancun, playa or even smaller like Akumal
The tour description is a lie. You only have like 45 min in Tulum and you will only see a small portion of the site. There is also no free time to explore, like the description says. It is all guided. They also drop you off at the shops in Playa del Carmen for 2 hours, which is not in the description. The whole day takes 12 hours, not 6-7. The cenote is as described. And the tour guides are amazing. They just clearly aren’t given the same instructions as this ad describes. If you only want 45 minutes to take a few pictures at Tulum, then have a good lunch/swim in a cenote, walk around the little market in Playa del Carmen for 2 hours, then this is actually a great tour. It’s just not what we wanted or paid for. We booked specifically because it said we would have over an hour to explore Tulum after the guided tour, and that doesn’t happen.
Nice experience with good tour guide and driver. The trip was on time and planned out well by the tour guide, Susana
We loved this tour! Guides Carlos and Ramón were great: warm, funny, informative and also very genuine and warm in their telling of the history and cultural significance of places and traditions. Day trips with multiple stops are challenging but they kept great time and balanced the guided portions with the exploration very well. The bus is modern enough and comfortable, the driver very efficient. I loved Tulum and the cenote was beautiful, would have liked more time there but it was very enjoyable for the allotted time. Originally, I had booked an option which didn’t include the buffet lunch and Ramón explained how to opt in on the spot and very quickly we could sit down for a delicious meal with the rest of the group. Playa del Carmen was also a fun stop. We left satisfied and looking forward to coming back. Thank you!
My friends had always wanted to see them, so I went again and still loved it very interesting. Guide very entertaining and imformative. Would go again. Thank you Doug UT.
The Tulum tour was very underwhelming. While we got some great information about the Mayan history, it was only around 30 minutes before we were sent off to take pictures on our own for 20 minutes. We hadn't looked around enough structures at Tulum. We went straight to a cenote and a buffet lunch but it wasn't enough time to do both in just 1.5 hours. There wasn't enough time to go back for seconds and changing and showering took time too. We then wasted even more time at Playa del Carmen to shop around for 1.5 hours, making this experience feel like a tourist trap. I've seen better and cheaper souvenirs in Cancun so my sister and I didn't buy anything. Instead of spending time here, we could've explored another cenote and ate lunch more comfortably. This whole day was so rushed. I had so many high hopes from the reviews but was scammed and wish we could've explored Tulum and its cenotes on our own. Going on your own or booking another tour is the best option.
Trip was in a well maintained coach and the guide was informative and helpful in explaining about the Mayan culture. The meaning on Tulum and the significance of the location as well as the level of astronomical knowledge of the Mayans upper class.
Definitely drink/bring water and comfortable shoes. This tour is incredible interesting . I’m happy to have experienced this.
Tulum Ruins was my high light of the day it was paradise 😍 Thank you too our tour Guy Moo was supper cool made out experience very welcoming 👍🏻
They changed the pickup place and I was not informed. They left us and we were charged for the tour 1
Well managed trip. Pick up was right on time. Great staff. Stuck to schedule for the most part considering how they were managing a diverse group. Will recommend this agency.
Guides were great and experience at cenote was excellent. However, the tour had given return time of 530 to the hotel but added a 2 hour shopping halt at playa del Carmen which most people on the bus were not aware of or didn't want to do it. Tours must come back to the hotel at specified time as tourists have others plans for the evening. A great day ended with delays and dissatisfied customers at the end. Anyone reading this review .. double check with tour guides / operator what the actual return time is.
The town is litter with garbage and the streets are in terrible conditions. There is a "new" major in town that prefers uploading pictures of him playing soccer instead of focusing in the cleanliness and infracsture of the town.
Well organized, safe and comfortable ride. Great site to have a good understanding of the Mayan civilization.
Great guides with humour and interesting knowledge. I loved visiting the cenotes and Mayan village. Enough time at every stop to be able to enjoy.
Tour was good, info before was bad. We were told we would be picked up at 7:50am on the day before we left at 5pm. At 9:10 pm we got a new email saying they would now pick us up at 7am. I didn't see the email till 3am that morning. I had to wake everybody early and get them up. Also they told us one price for the tickets, then changed the price days later and would not accept the prices quoted. Had to run around to find the money for the new price. Keep things consistent!!
Great location, well maintained site. The shopping in the area is vast. There is a small restaurant there where I had some amazing tacos and a fresh coconut.
Went to tulum on guided tour with tui, small bus of 10 people with guide and driver. Both were very welcoming and knowledgeable. Guide Joanne is Polish lived in mexico for 8 years, she was very helpful and not timekeeping to move us on. Once we finished in Tulum went to a mayan villiage to swim in there cenote lovely small and friendly once we swam we watched a lady make tortillas then we all tried, it was a lovely relaxed interesting trip.
The Tulum experience was not only beautiful but also very educational! There was so much to learn about and from the Mayan people! We loved our guide Ben and Raphael who were so completely thorough, passionate and fun! It is HOOOOOTTTTT so be prepared to wear cool clothing! I wore moisture wicking and spf clothing. Our driver provided such a comfortable ride and the bus was very clean. The views of the beach were incredibly beautiful! The food at the shops after to tour was delish!
