We spent the day learning how to cook Mexican food use knives, and enjoy the culinary arts of Mexican cuisine I would definitely recommend this to my friends and other visitors. It is a long day perhaps too long. We did a lot of standing. And the chairs did not have backs . A very friendly and casual atmosphere and the staff are very helpful. If I come to Cancun again, I will bring my friends and family. The flavors were amazing. The ceviche was to die for,and the flan was superb.

Alajandra is the best. She was very warm and personable. She taught with excellence in knowledge and technique while we were allowed to learn while getting our fingers into the action. You don’t sit and watch, you do. The kitchen is amazing, the grounds are stunning and the food was beyond excellent. The highlight or our trip.
Great experience to learn the Mayan history and culture carried through hundreds of years. Chef Ali did a great job explaining everything, teaching us delicious recipes. Definitely recommend this trip.
Our experience was world class and one we will always treasure. The chef Ale not only passed along her passion for cooking but also invited us into her family. She has a clear gift in the world of cooking but also a drive to share that with others. This it a must stop for all foodies and those who want to learn more about mexico, it's traditions, and its food!
A wonderful day spent in a jungle setting with our host Alejandra and her lovely helpers including the delightful Paula! Learning about the history of Mayan culture and cooking was a pleasure. We made tortillas, soup and a stew all under Alejandra’s watchful eye. She provides great context and helpful hints all along the way. And of course the best thing is getting to enjoy all the wonderful food for lunch! Highly recommend this day for any food lovers interested in authentic Mexican cooking. Thank you for a lovely time!
The staff is fantastic! Knowledgeable, caring, and above all you can feel the love they take in making sure you not only learn to cook the menu but learn the local culture, ingredients, history and methods to recreate the meals for future enjoyment. Our specific family that attended contain all levels of cooking experience, from beginners to advanced and everyone walked away with a new found love for the local culture, cuisine, and history provided by the exceptional staff. We highly recommend and appreciate every staff member for providing a fantastic cooking adventure. We will be back! & highly recommend! Definitely the highlight of our trip! Thank you, - - The Murray’s
A bit of a slow start but lots of detailed instructions and history given which was nice. The setting is lovely and the food was delicious. It felt like a very authentic experience. The team were great and made us very welcome.
What a lovely way to learn about traditional Mexican cuisine and culture! Alejandra and crew were so warm and friendly. We felt right at home. We truly enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend the experience!
We enjoyed a fantastic day at the Mexico Lindo Cooking School! The food was delicious! The eco-garden was amazing, and the hands-on chopping and cooking was fun and informative. They are very sensitive and resourceful regarding food allergies/dietary restrictions. Highly recommend you include this in your trip to Cancun, Playa del Carmen or Puerto Morelos. It's a very special experience.
What an amazing experience. My wife and I had a blast spending the day here and learning to cook. Highly recommend this cooking tour. Staff was friendly and very interactive.
Alejandra was such an entertaining and skillful chef and cooking instructor. We were hands on and learned Yucatán recipes and techniques…the food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this experience. She has “set the bar” for me to find another cooking class to compare.
6 different dishes plus salas. All are wonderful. The place is a little hard to find. It is very beautiful place with natural herbal garden.
This class was awesome! The chef and the staff treated us first class. The food was made by the class, with heavy instruction. The tamales were amazing and all the food was delicious. I would do it again and try one of their personal/half day classes.
Amazing experience. Our chef was very knowledgeable and passionate about cooking. I learned several everyday techniques to use in my own kitchen. The food was absolutely wonderful- it was great to taste the fruits of our labor! I would highly recommend!
this was absolutely fantastic. Alejandro was phenomenal and the food we made was delicious. this is the best experience we've had in Cancun and would highly recommend to anyone who wants to experience true food culture of Mexico.
We thoroughly enjoyed learning about what we were cooking, the regions the recipes came from and making the most delicious food. Loved taking the recipes home so that I can recreate the dishes myself and enjoy them all over again.
We were fortunate to book this excursion on a rainy day in paradise. It was outstanding. The chef was knowledgeable and the food we prepared was absolutely delicious! The setting back in the lush greenery made it a really unique destination to enjoy. I would highly recommend this if you want to learn how to prepare some authentic Mayan recipes that you can recreate at home.
I don't normally write reviews but I had to for our visit at Mexico Lindo. We worked with Chef Claudia and Sr. Silver and Sra. Paula. It was my husband and I with them for the day and I have only amazing things to say about our time. The food we had the honor of preparing in their beautiful kitchen was authentic and delicious, the ingredients fresh. We learned so much from Claudia about traditional cooking, the history of the cuisine in the region, the influence of Spain and the blending of cultures to create what today are traditional dishes. Claudia was warm and funny, made us feel welcome and comfortable from the start and the conversation flowed easily all day. We felt like we were at home with family by the end of the day. If you want a unique and personal cultural experience that takes you out of traditional tourist spots, I can't recommend this enough. We will be returning!
Chef Alejandra provided an amazing experience for our group. Her knowledge and passion for cooking were inspiring. My husband and I both cook a lot but we learned so much and will definitely be trying to recreate these recipes at home. I highly recommend!
Chef Claudia guided us with humor and history thru so many different types of Mexicine cuisine, from grinding our own cocoa beans into a paste to make a delicious hot chocolate breakfast drink to sweet tamales for dessert and multitudes of dishes between. We couldn't have asked for a better day to spend away from the beach. Gracias Claudia and Mexico Lindo! Highly recommend!
The whole experience was overall great! Transportation They offer round trip transportation for MX$1900 from the Hotel Zone. We didn’t choose this since it came out to be quite expensive. So we Uber-ed over and it was MX$850 there and supposedly MX$500 back. Total to be MX$1350. Another pair of participants arrived about an hour late to the class via the arranged transportation and they claimed the driver went to the wrong pickup spot hence they were late. It is also very secluded but they have their “Mexico Lindo Tour” sign on the way to the location. Google Maps does a great job taking you directly to their pinned location. Phone Service Keep in mind, you don’t get service there but they have free wifi which you can connect to and get an Uber back. We tried reserving a return Uber and it was about ~MX$80 more to reserve, which you don’t have to. There were enough Uber drivers around to accept your ride request. Cooking Class 10.30am-3.30pm There were a little too much talking/intro in our opinion. It was very sociable which was nice but there were a mix of history teaching about local cultures which was nice, teaching us tips and tricks of cutting certain ingredients, Spanish names of different ingredients and cooking utensils, etc. which all took maybe 2/3 of the class. We didn’t start cooking until maybe 11.30am? We had 5-6 different types of dishes to make so we were delegated to work on different parts of the dishes. That is good for time management but I feel like we miss out on learning other dishes that we didn’t work on. The class was also over $300 usd for two which is why I would expect to learn everything I paid for. The chef instructor was very entertaining! She spoke English well so it was easy to understand the instructions. She had to manage us students as well as her team members who were also doing preparations in the background. During lunch, around 2.30pm, our foods were assembled by the chef team and not us.. which is a shame. We were only participating in limited parts of the cooking. If there were less talking, we would have been able to do all the cooking and most of the preparations. Also, there were so much food prepared for six of us, it would have been to nice to be able to pack some leftovers with us but that wasn’t part of their plan. They did eventually find some Ziplocks for us to pack some tamales home. Thank you! Conclusion We would totally recommend this cooking class to anyone! The review is really nitpicking the small details that could be improved but otherwise everything was wonderful.
This is a a great cooking experience. This was our eighth time going and it never ceases to delight. Alejandra is a wonderful teacher and host.
This was a fabuoous day! My adult son and I love cooking and really enjoyed this experience and would recommend to all who enjoy cooking and would like to learn more about preparing and eting Mexican cuisine. The preparation work done ahead and during our arrival was very much appreicated. We were able to learn, do and enjoy many foods because of this. This is a well organized activity, that packs a lot into 5 - 5 1/2 hours.
A great cultural and culinary experience. I attended this class on a surprise birthday trip and I've got to say it was a day well spent I learned about history, culture, science and culinary techniques all in one experience. Ale is an amazing teacher and makes the most basic dishes taste like a 5 star meal attention to detail impeccable!
We had an excellent time and learned lots, I'll definitely make some of the recipes at home! It was the best Mexican food we had while out on our vacation. The course was well suited to beginners or experienced cooks.
What a wonderful experience. The cooking class was quite informative, and we had several on-hands opportunities. A nice add on was practicing the correct way to cut food without damaging it. I cook Mexican food at home and learned some great ways to improve it. We also enjoyed some traditional beverages. Highly recommend.
Look: we’ll go to Tulum, and snorkel in Cozumel, and swim in a cenote on this trip. But the highlight of the entire time will be our day at Mexico Linda Cooking. The experience was as near to perfect as it could possible have been. Ale is every single thing you could want in an instructor: she is patient, she knows what she’s doing, she clearly loves her subject matter, she is talented with words, and she is a very pleasant person with whom to spend a day — fun without being a cheerleader, helpful and charming without being saccharine. The setting is beautiful. You’re kind of waaaaay back in the jungle, which I guess could throw you (if you’re some kind of weenie or something), but the way-backness is what makes it so bucolic and lovely. When you’re cooking tortillas over a fire in the middle of a jungle, you feel very connected to something ancient. Maybe you are. The house where most of the class happens, meanwhile, is adorable. The kitchen is clean and bright, with plenty of room to work. In the end, the food was…insane. So good. Oh my goodness. I’m ruined for all other food for life. I’m not even a person who would normally take food classes. Regular ol’ jock dude who does some grilling, and that’s about it. But this was tremendous. So fun. Highly recommend.
This was a great class, so happy we went! The place was pretty far out of Cancun which was a negative because you have to arrange for transport both ways, but it was totally worth it. Learned a lot of cooking skills that we can use for any dish. All the food was cooked in clay dishes and mostly over open fires or in the oven. The whole kitchen set up is really nice, with some big propane burners as well. The food was interesting and fun, make sure you come hungry because they will feed you! The garden was new this year, so just getting started as a bio-sustainable agricultural endeavor, so that was interesting as well. Definitely worth the cost, and I recommend you give it a go! They do a different menu each weekday, so might look and see which one would be the most interest to you.
Spent another day at Mexico Lindo with Alejandra , learning, stirring, chopping, tasting, and enjoying excellent Vera Cruz fish and all the trimmings! You truly feel you are a guest in her home. She and her foundation are working hard to help the community with gardening improvements. We had a group of 8 and was wonderful!
Excellent day spent with Ale. Great to learn the authentic dishes and the complex history of Mexican gastronomy. Truly delicious feast at the end.
This was a fantastic class! We learned so much more than expected. Chef is so knowledgeable and explained techniques, history, ingredients, etc. In an entertaing and easy to understand way. FOOD we prepared was incredible. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys cooking and Mexican food!
Our family of 3 spent a fun and relaxing Friday with Chef Alejandra and a few other guests in her beautiful kitchen in the Riveria Maya. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip! We took the Mexican Antojitos (small plates) cooking class. We prepared delicious, traditional tamales verdes, chicken tinga, ranch style beans, and other dishes. We also learned proper knife skills (I can't believe I've been using my chef's knife incorrectly for >50 years!), learned how to prepare beans and vegetables so that they produce less gas, and toured Chef Alejandra’s beautiful garden where she grows the fruits, vegetables, and herbs used in her classes. And you get to eat everything you prepare! Trust me, you won’t go away hungry! Chef Alejandra is so kind and warm. We all had a great time - even our college age son who wasn’t sure about taking a cooking class. Overall, highly recommended!
Very professionally run class . Many tips on preparation and also the Why of doing things in such a way. Quite a bit of standing time while preparing but laid back enough to step out for a break when needed. Wonderful “ in the jungle” location. Recommend to serious people that want to know the heritage and how to of Mexican cooking.
the best opportunity to experience local Mexican cuisine. The place is beautiful, very well maintained and everything combines, it shows that it has a lot of detail. The chef's attention is excellent and the food you cook has the best ingredients.
It was a wonderful experience! Alejandra was informative, engaging and amazing! Oh, the food was the icing on the cake! The garden beautiful and the staff did an excellent job caring for us! 10 out of 10!
Wonderful day and wonderful food! We made stuffed poblano peppers, cactus salad, refried beans, green salsa, tortillas, pork confit and sweet tamales for pud. We also learnt about both Mayan and Mexican cooking techniques. It was then quite the feast afterwards - with tequila! We both had a fantastic time. Thank you Alejandra!
What a great experience from the location in the jungle, meeting the chefs, learning history/geography of the food, environmental impacts, ingredient info, cooking techniques, this experience packs a lot in. Chef Ale is such a professional and a natural teacher. It was such a flavorful and beautiful day. The pack of puppies that greeted us was just a bonus! Highly recommend.
Chris was a great chef and has deep love and understanding of the Mexican cooking culture. The food we prepared together was excellent. One tip — arrange your transportation back in advance.
What an exceptional experience - a must do for anyone visiting Quintana Roo. Chef Ale was superb! The quintessential hostess, master chef, story teller and historian... Ale brought everything to life in the tastes of the Yucatan. Mexico Lindo Cooking was a delight in every way!
We were able to select our preferred menu, Coastal Seafood. We had the place to ourselves, with wonderful interaction with the chef and her staff. We made ceviche with shrimp and fish, snapper Vera Cruz, black beans, rice, and flan and two different salsas. More food than you can imagine, but fun, inspiring, and wow, sooooo good! Love the way she explains the customs, traditions, and sources of various ingredients. Feels like you are a welcome guest in her home!
A great experience. Ali was knowledgeable, professional and inviting. Learned many new tips. Great for a group of friends
This was an exceptional cooking class!! It lasted all day, and included breakfast, various beverages, and a wonderful late lunch. Every minute was packed with interesting cooking tips and great background info on Mexican culture and history. The location was out-of-the-way (having a car was a big plus) but SO interesting, a beautiful completely outfitted Mexican country kitchen, with two guest rooms attached for those who want to stay a little longer. Alexandra was a great teacher and provided great insights into Mexican life which we couldn't have gotten any other way. We LOVED it!
Just know that you may not have Alejandra as your chef. I wish I had known that, as we wanted to take the class with Alejandra. The lady we got was great. Attentive and knowledgeable. She did engage everyone in the cooking. I would ask who the chef will be, before singing up for this class.
Getting to know Alejandra herself and share her spiritual commitment to her culture and its food was the highlight of this beautiful day. She cooks magical food with love in beautiful surroundings. She is a gifted teacher. It was one of the top cultural experiences we have had in our long and priveledged lives traveling in Latin America.
Amazing food experience with chef Rosalía. The tortillas were delicious and I have not tasted a relleno negro like this one and believe me, I have tried it in several places.
My daughter and I did the cooking class and it was such a great experience. The food and drinks we got to experience and prepared ourselves were amazing. It was so much fun preparing the food outside at the table, cooking on the fire and finishing the meal in the kitchen.
What an amazing experience. After watching Rosalia in Chef’s Table, I knew that if I had the chance to travel to Yucatán I would try to visit her. And we did! Everybody was really nice with us and they took plenty of time to explain the process of making the cochinita, the history behind it, questions, ingredients, etc. If you want to have a real experience of Yucatán, this is the place: history, beautiful people and amazing food.
We weren’t sure what to expect, but we got the most amazing experience into Mexico’s food traditions. Claudia not only filled us in with history, but guided us through a very hands on day of preparing a fantastic meal. We made tortillas, tamales, chiles rellenos, carnitas, nopales (cactus) salad, refried black beans, and several different salsas (sauces), all from fresh ingredients. We toured the garden where many of the herbs we used were grown. We finished the day eating what we cooked. Can’t get any better than that! Claudia is a fantastic teacher, and we learned so much (if we can just remember it all). This is a “must do” for anyone who is interested in cooking authentic Mexican food. Forget Taco Bell, this is the real thing!
Amazing. Everyone there was so friendly and warm. The food was amazing. I'm definitely taking back some new tricks and tips to US with me.
This was an awesome experience and it was so intimate and you feel like you are in your grandmothers kitchen learning how to cook - they grow majority of the food onsite and she takes you out and shows you the garden - we missed the breakfast because our transportation driver got lost but I would definitely recommend and eating the lunch that you cooked was the end to a perfect day.
