We had an amazing snorkeling experience with Crispy Bacon (yes that’s his name) from JustSnorkel. One person in our group was a little afraid of whether or not she would be able to participate. Crispy Bacon guided her through the process in a way that mad her feel safe an comfortable, so we could all enjoy the tour. We went to two different sites with a great variety of corals and fish. Visibility was great. We had encounters with a large tortoise and a stingray. We can absolutely recommend JustSnorkel. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Very good service and very cheap
Wonderful, Crispy Chicken is a great guide and we were snorekling with shark, turtles, murain, ray manta…… My Best Snorekling experience yet
Captain Mario and Crispy Bacon were fantastic. They knew all the right spots for my friends and i to see some really cool sea life. They're funny, and attentive... making sure we all felt safe the entire time. Highly recommend.
Crispy Bacon was our guide. He was the best ever. I felt so safe, helped, explained everything and swam with us keeping the pace and pointing out fish. Highly recommend! Highlight of the trip!
Just snorkel picked up the phone the first time I called. I’m August is slower than July so despite calling the day before, they accommodated my family of 5 to do the two snorkeling stops which where Breathtaking! We had a tortuga swimming by my kids feet, we also saw different beautiful of fish species
Absolutely incredible. This was easily one of the highlights of our entire trip to Cancun. The reef is literally a 5-minute boat ride away, and our guide, “Crispy Bacon,” was outstanding. This man KNOWS his reef. Within minutes of getting in the water, we were surrounded by thousands of tropical fish. We saw barracuda, puffer fish, stingrays, nurse sharks, enormous sea turtles and more marine life than I could possibly list. At one point we were only a couple of feet from a giant sea turtle and about five feet from a nurse shark resting on the bottom. Completely surreal. What made the experience so special, though, was Crispy Bacon. He knew exactly where to take us, what we were looking at, and how to make everyone feel comfortable in the water. It felt authentic and personal, not like one of those crowded, conveyor-belt tourist excursions. It was just us with a local guide who clearly knows this reef inside and out. The coral was beautiful, the wildlife was extraordinary, and being able to experience all of it essentially right off the coast was amazing. If you are considering snorkeling while in Cancun, DO THIS. And ask for Crispy Bacon. You could not ask for a better guide. Thank you, Mr. Bacon, for giving our family a memory we will be talking about for years. 🐢🦈🐠🪸 Absolutely worth every penny.
Awesome experience!! "Crispy Bacon" had an eye for the turtles/sharks/rays and it is a gorgeous reef. Thanks for the biodiversity experience (:
2 adults & 2 children, I booked through their website(www.justsnorkel.com) and the prices were very fair. We purchased the additional beach chairs & credit for the restaurant. Crispy Bacon was wonderful, pointed out different fish species, we seen several sea turtles, the reef was absolutely beautiful. Very shallow water where snorkeling happens so it’s easy to see all the amazing life. Thank you!
Great experience!!! We booked directly at Puerto Morelos and the suppliers are all well coordenated and the prices are similar. It was a short boat ride until the reef. Beautiful: Barracudas, all sort of fishes and sea life,..we just couldnt see any turtle but was way worth it. We didnt feel the comercial push as in Cozumel.
The best local snorkeling!!! Easy booking, quick easy boat ride to the reef where we swam with a guide and saw sea turtles, rays, sharks and tons of fish!! Highly recommend!
The booking was very flexible and possible on short notice. A warm welcome by Crispy Bacon and Mario who took us out to the two spots at the reef. A 5min boat ride away. We spent most of the time in the water and saw turtles, eagle rays and even a catfish shark - all very close and with an amazing view. As a family we had different speed and needs. Crispy Bacon not only knows the sweet spots to see wildlife, but he also made us feel save and knew exactly how to integrate the yougest (6y) best. Mario gave us some more background info about the wildlife on the Boat - their enthusiasm about that beautiful place was palpable even after sooo many years they're doing this already! All in all it was stunning and we would highly recommend it for families or small groups! Definitely would come back again!
What an amazing experience! My husband and I booked this last minute when we were looking for a Snorkel only tour and we are so happy we did! Captain Mario was super nice and chill and our Snorkel guide Bacon was absolutely amazing! Saw multiple eagle rays, sea turtles, sleeping shark, lobster and even a triggerfish! Would highly recommend this tour!!!!
Crispy Bacon was a great tour guide! We saw turtles, stingrays, eel, and a shark! He helped us get a taxi home too. Thank you so much!
Absolutely fabulous few hours snorkelling with very experienced, mature, guides. Saw lots of varieties of fish and gigantic rays in the gorgeous coral reef. Very impressed by the care taken for safety as well as enjoyment. Good quality life vests, flippers, mask, snorkel and bottled water provided. Took apx 7 minutes in a boat with shade to reach the reef. There was a slight current ensuring easy snorkelling, as the boat slowly followed, meaning no swimming back against the current. No hesitation whatsoever in recommending this activity.
Crispy Bacon was the name of our guide and he was so attentive about making sure my group (some new to snorkeling) were well prepared. Even gave us some pro-tips on how masks should be worn I had never been told before! He pointed out small creatures and plants we would have just swam right past. It was awesome!!
We had an amazing time on this tour! We first booked in October 2023 and had so much fun we came back. This time was just as great and we even saw an Eagle Ray! The guides are great, equipment was provided. Showers and restrooms are onsite. If you’re staying in Puerto Morelos don’t be intimidated by the lack of hotel pickup. The taxis are safe, affordable ($12 each way from Dreams Jade), easy to use, and it’s 100% worth it. Explore the shops and restaurants in this awesome little town afterwards (pro tip: the supermarket has affordable snacks and souvenirs).
Trip was excellent. Crispy bacon was a great tour guide and led us to some incredible reefs. We saw barracudas stingray and many colorful fish. We will be back
Amazing experience with our friendly guide "Crispy Bacon". How can it be bad when you have bacon with you? We booked here on TripAdvisor and walked there from our resort. Saved 40 USD per person this way. We took the 9am tour. My girlfriend and I were the only snorkelers with the guide. Great. We saw: plenty of colorful fish, a shark, rays, a big langouste and some pretty coral. Recommended
Snorkeling was a 4+ with a lot of varieties of fish. Equipment the tour company used was not very good. The town looked like something we would want to explore. However we experienced heckling beyond our imagination. Ended up not going into any of the shops as a result.
We loved our guide who respected the coral reef while leading us around and pointing out a nurse shark, conch shells and schools of rainbow colored fish!
Great experience for first time snorkelers. There were only three in our group so we had great instruction. I would recommend.
We took the 4pm snorkeling adventure in May. While the ad said 1-2 hours, it was only 1 hour and only included 1 reef. Lot's of bait & switch here in MX. Our guide Mario was Mr Grumpy. Saw plenty of fish, a lobster and a turtle.
When we arrived, we were told that the tour guide was going to be "10-20 minutes late due to the late arrival of a previous client". He ended up arriving 30 minutes after our scheduled start time - which would have been just a mere inconvenience if he had not proceeded to end the tour exactly on time, effectively short changing us half an hour of what should have been about 90 minutes snorkelling. What's more, our guide Mario was rude from the moment we met him, grunting in response to statements like "hi, we have a booking for 2pm", snapping at another customer when they asked a question, and being generally stand-offish, grumpy, and just plain mean the whole time, making what should have been a joyful, exciting trip one where we felt like we were walking on eggshells. Puerto Morelos snorkeling is beautiful and I highly recommend it, BUT 1. Don't do it with this company 2. Put on sunscreen an hour before you arrive (they didn't tell us this until we had already arrived instead of including it in the booking email) 3. For the love of God somebody give Mario a new job, he seems to really hate this one.
Amazing tour guide & snorkeling experience for my boyfriend and I. We highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!!
I booked this tour based on a local recommendation and reviews, hoping we’d get Mario as a guide. When we arrived, I was so excited to discover Mario would in fact be our guide. He’s a bit of a local legend. However, our experience did not go as expected. (read on for details) Things got off right. However, I did notice a lack of hand signals and the occasional head counting I am accustomed to from prior tours and that I customarily use when doing any Watersports with others. (Ie thumbs up letting the guide know everyone is ok, etc). There were only 7 of us so I thought ok…maybe it’s just easier to keep track of smaller groups. But no. With multiple tours in the water, there were 4 different occasions where I would have lost my group had my friend not brought her own mask completely different from the sea of others. On each of those occasions I was faaaaaar away from my group and had to high tail crawl stroke my way to them. (Which is a lot of work in a life vest!!!) This wasn’t so bad. I take some responsibility for it because I didn’t want to be too close to the others. A few of the people in our group were inconsiderate swimmers and after getting kicked or punched a few times by them, I was over it and pointedly kept distance between them. Here’s where the real problem lay: My friend has been snorkeling before, but isn’t a super strong swimmer. Don’t get me wrong. She can swim, she’s just not an athlete. At one point we hit a moderate current and she fell behind. I don’t even think Mario noticed. There was easily 200 feet between she and the rest of the group. She wasn’t moving. I was half way between she and the group. Concerned, I swam closer to her and asked if she was ok. She informed me that she wasn’t able to breathe through her mask and was out of breath. I corrected her snorkeling form to fix the one issue and told her to remain floating while I fetched and alerted Mario. I swam to Mario as quickly as possible against the current and on reaching him, explained what was going on. Rather than expressing concern, he responded with annoyance. “I offered her a mask. What do you want me to do?!?”. I admit. I was a little taken aback by the response. True, tourists can be stupid and disrespectful but that is not what was happening here. She just needed to catch her breath and catch up to the group. At that point, I suggested that she is a grown woman and if she truly can’t keep up, she could go sit in the boat but either way, he needed to attend to her. Mario seemed angered and annoyed by the request. Again, I was surprised by this because I heard such wonderful things about him. Apparently he is amazing and knowledgeable but in our experience is lacking compassion and patience. Thankfully my friend is very easy going and did not take great offense to the attitude she was given for being the slowest member of our group. However, she was accused of kicking a reef (she did not, as she was overly worried about doing so and kept her flippers out of the water, floating in a lie back position until Mario arrived to assist her and threatened to force her into the boat if she took her mask off again (because with the mask off she could not clearly see the reef, which would endanger it). My friend endured all of this because all she really needed at that point was to catch up with the group. Once she did, she remained with the group and was fine for the duration of the snorkel. If you are not fit, in good physical condition (myself and the rest of the participants were all fit) and a strong swimmer, pick another tour. We spent a total of two hours in the water. We did see a plethora of colorful fish and quite the variety of them. It was overall a gorgeous snorkel but I wouldn’t use this service again with anyone not youthful, in top shape, or a strong swimmer.
Mario was a bit impatient. When we 1st left the boat the group took off rather fast and the current held me back some and I lost my breath trying to keep up. When I finally reached the group Mario didn't seem to understand I couldn't breath. I was told to keep up or go back to the boat. When I did finally catch my breath and was with the group Mario was pointing out numerous fish and even an eel under the coral. There were lots of different fish and some pretty coral but most of the coral was green or dull. There was a few brighter purples.
Great tour, Mario was an amazing guide. Saw lots of marine life. I'd definitely recommend if you are interested in snorkeling. Good price as well
Amazing ocean life! Our guide was helpful and came into the water with us...he was able to point out an eel, live conch shell, and a puffer fish we would have otherwise missed!
Christopher was a great tour guide, friendly, helpful, he gave us lots of information about the reef, and was good at answering all questions. The snorkelling was great, saw lots of beautiful fish, some of the more unusual ones were baracuda and eels and squid. I also liked how Christopher and Marko helped us on and off the boat (which at times was tricky), and were very attentive to everyone's needs. Highly recommended.
Great tour guide! we had an awesome time and saw some big fish! It is really nice to be able to still get an affordable tour that is just snorkeling as we did not want the basic lunch that comes with most tours.
Nice snorkeling moment, crystal clear water, lot of colorful little fishes, impressive reef and a very nice guide ! Shame we did not see any turtles, rays, eels, lobster… or any other surprising animals…
My father wanted to go snorkeling for his 80th birthday. We had an enjoyable week visit to Puerto Morelos and the area. We found people to be friendly and welcoming. There are many expats who have retired here, or spend significant time visiting each year. It is super close to the Cancun airport. There are delicious restaurants that Feature Yucatán cuisine as well as Asian and Mediterranean offerings. We enjoyed the warm weather and mellow evenings. There are many local spots with live bands and dance classes in the plaza. The street food vendors sell some of the best and most affordable food, so keep an eye out for them! Snorkeling the reef, you can see a wide variety of sea life. Also, swimming from the public beach is just as satisfying and many of the same undersea dwellers come in close to shore for an evening snack. Protect the reef by skipping the sunscreen and wearing your sunblocking beach gear!
Absolutely terrible service would not recommend this to anyone. Once you book, rest assured that you will never get any communication from them. Both their posted office number and email are not registered and they don’t respond to messages. I had booked another snorkeling tour in the morning which was cancelled due to strong wind so I reached out to this tour (which I had booked for in the afternoon at 4pm) to make sure it wasn’t also cancelled. Reached out every hour since 11am and it was complete silence. Ended up not going without their confirmation because it would’ve been an expensive Uber to go and they are unwilling to provide a refund, even though I tried to contact them every way possible for confirmation of the tour HOURS before it happened. Terrible customer service. Would highly highly recommend against it
We saw a giant barracuda that was resting on a rock. Experienced snorkelers(especially those comfortable in the water will enjoy this greatly)
We were booked for a Tuesday snorkel, they were flexible about us changing time slots from the 8 to the 10. The weather was windy, red flag on the reef, so they had to cancel, we did it the following day and managed to have a private tour just me and my father on his 80th, it was pretty awesome. Plenty of people on the reef today, but the guides kept us separated so you really were uninterrupted. We saw two kinds of sea rays, a turtle, hundreds of vibrantly colored fish, a turtle, a cormorant, lots of coral sprouts. Protect the reef, don't wear sunblock or bug spray. Beautiful experience, highly recommended.
We had an amaaaaazing time! Our guide was great!… the reef, coral, and fish were beautiful! And we even saw a Reef Shark! It was HUGE! We worked up quite an appetite so we ate at the local spot on site, and the Food was the best we had in Cancun our entire trip!! Word of wisdom::: Be sure you are in decent physical conditioning! You will be tired when you leave! ☺️
Miguel was fantastic, and we saw a wide variety of fish - including large barracuda! Note that while you MUST wear a life vest, in practice it didn't bother me, since there was no need to dive at any point - the reef is quite close beneath the water.
Overall it was fun, although since other participants of the tour haven't snorkeled before and were poor swimmers, we all had to "play it safe." Also, while I understand the need to follow the guide, my impression was that he did not take us to spots that were most interesting, and yelled at me when I was more than 10 feet away from him trying to see the actual reef rather than the seagrass.
The snorkeling in Puerto Morelos was wonderful and very reasonably priced. We had a great 1.5-2 hours of snorkeling in 2 locations and saw beautiful angel fish, barracudas, bass, and coral. Our guide was friendly and very helpful throughout. We highly recommend this tour.
We had a private snorkel tour with our friendly and engaging guide, Mario. He's a local legend in the snorkel, fishing, and scuba diving industries. I cannot recommend him enough for his knowledge and expertise as well as his welcoming and friendly demeanour. As soon as you meet Mario you will feel right at home under his guidance on land, his boat, and on the (DON'T TOUCH) the reef. He made sure to point out all the creatures of interest such as octopus, great white shark (Mario fought the shark off and we were able to continue our swim safely), trigger fish, groupers, squidward, and parrot fish. We were even lucky enough to see the antenna of a lobster, and the shadow of an eel. We saw the most beautiful and large puffer fish. Mario gave us a lot of free time to explore the reef and surrounding life while keeping a watchful eye on us from the boat, and explaining to a fellow tour guide that we were indeed not lost and separated from our group. We had a two person VIP experience like no other. It is clear that Mario has a strong understanding and respect for the local ecosystems. You can hear the passion in his voice when speaking about marine life. Thank you, Mario! We will book with you again when we return, we can't recommend you enough.
Great experience as a solo traveler! Best snorkeling/reef I’ve seen in Mexico! Two hours was the perfect amount of time.
The snorkeling was incredible and I highly recommend. However, after the tour I asked a member of the staff (Antonio) to rent a snorkel, and he told me to rest because he had a "special surprise" for me. After my puzzled look, he complimented my body and tried to kiss me. This behavior was unwanted, unprovoked, and unacceptable, and I have not found proper channels to report it.
Amazing snorkeling off the coast of Beautiful Puerto Morelos. Had a great time and saw a large variety of different tropical fish
Lovely early morning trip with our guide Mario who very much offered his love of the marine life and reef. Very grateful.
There is more swimming than snorkelling involved. And there is more sea grass than reefs. Not recommend for families with children or if you do not have the stamina of an Olympic swimmer. Also, rudeness I can tolerate…we all have bad days but I draw the line on condescension and false accusations of breaking equipment. The guide/host overstepped their remit and behaved poorly. Acerbic to the point that we did not feel safe.
George was so awesome! He was direct and took us to the best spots to snorkel. Very small group and got to see a lot of fish. I would recommend this tour!
Had a great time with Mario as our guide. He took us for a swim/snorkle and we spotted such beautiful sealife: rays, beautiful little and big fishes, cool plants, a nurse shark and a barracuda to top things off. We knew about not wearing sunscreen, but make sure to wear a shirt. My back got really burned while underwater - I'm a typical dumb tourist ;) Definitely recommend, and take the early tour if you don't like too many people around. Have fun!
Great tour! Great reef! Saw lots of very colorful fish and also a manta ray. The guide made us feel super safe and the boat is cute and typical! Clean material
Everything was amazing The snorkel tour and the dons bar Odalys is an amazing server Love the whole experience
