This cenote is super fun with a zipline rappel and numerous platforms. Our guide and driver were super friendly and made for a great day. We got to take our time where we wanted.

Mario was such a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide! We had a great day with him, showing us the ruins and teaching us the history of Chichen Itza. Then he took us to the beautiful Cenote Chukum, which was such a wonderful experience. As a group of 5 women we always felt safe with Mario, and he took care of us from beginning to end. It was great to not have to wait for a whole tour bus of people, so if you are able to book this private experience, I highly recommend it! Thanks again Mario!!!
Mario Washington a great guido. The triple was well planned. Our Kids learned a lot about the Mayan People and Chichen Itza. But the highlight for them was visiting the Chukum cenote. We highly recommend a tour with Mario!
Fernando was very friendly and considerate guide. Very knowledgeable and happy to adjust the tour for our family’s needs. We had a really wonderful day!
We had a great time, our driver was great and he set us up with our guide and made everything super easy.
Wow! Having our private tour was worth it! Our group of 6 had the best experience visiting Chichen Itza & Cenotes with our amazing, attentive & interactive tour guide PERFECTO MOTA LIMÓN! He made our experience one of the best during our stay in Tulum! Thank you for the best experience & services!
Jeromino was our guide and was so helpful in guiding our ride in and offering perspectives on how to spend our time at each place. The time at Chichen Itza should be at least 1 hour and for full effect 2 hours. We loved the cenote and was better for us to leave at 7:30 am from Cancun to have less crowds at both places. It got so busy by the time we left we were happy to leave when we did at both places. Get some deals at Chichen Itza on gifts but Jeromino also took us to a store that was pricer but better products and accepts credit card. Thank you Jeromino!
Really enjoyed the day with Pino, our private driver. He took us to the amazing Chichen-Itza, and got the tickets sorted for us. Recommend paying for a tour guide within the park ($40). Pino also took us to a wonderful Cenote to swim, which included a buffet lunch. It would have been great. Unfortunately our teen daughter was sick that day (NO fault of this tour company) and we had to cut our visit short. He was gracious, informative and flexible. The tour company was extremely responsive via email ahead of the trip, and not just on time, but early for pickup. High quality outfit all around. Recommended.
This was well worth the money. Michael was so kind and knowledgable and very helpful. We had a 4 month old with us and he made accommodations to help make everything easier. He was also helpful in finding a lovely place to eat. We cant say enough about how great this was.
Wow! So glad I decided to book this private day trip from Cancun to Chichen Itza. I am a single mom who took 4 “kids” who are in their teens/early 20s. Everyone had a great time seeing all of the sites at Chichen Itza. We also absolutely loved the stop at Ik Kil Cenote (see photo). I had almost decided to skip it because the Sacred Cenote at Chichen Itza was not that impressive. So happy that Carlos, our driver, told us it was one of his favorite places. It was truly one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen. We all jumped in for a beautiful and tranquil swim. We booked the option with lunch, which is right at Ik Kil Cenote. The lunch was a buffet and very good. Our driver, Carlos, was fantastic. He was friendly, timely, helpful, and a great, safe driver. We left our hotel in Cancun at 7 AM. It does take nearly 2 1/2 hours to get to Chichen Itza. I would recommend leaving early because it does get very hot and crowded later in the day. Only complaint is really with Viator/ TripAdvisor. At the time I booked this tour, their was no mentioned of an additional $13/person ($65 in total) tax, which I was charged. I received no Customer Service support from TripAdvisor even though I have booked numerous tours through the site. The listing has since been updated to include a note about the additional tax.
Best day ever but please book with your holiday rep. As some people in the hotel booked out side and by the pool they arrived very late and missed a lot of the tour
Long day but worth it. If you can afford private tour without all the trappings of shopping along the way it could cut a couple of hours. I am not a big shopper and unless you know your tequila, you may pay five to ten times what it really is worth. Chichen Itza history and the Mayan knowledge of astronomy, calendar, etc. was nice to refresh. Almost 2.5 hours drive each day was made more tolerant by our guide along the way.
We visited the site in April 2018 and we had limited knowledge of the Mayan culture. The tour was an eye opener and was very well presented and the Mayan culture and traditions were explained to us in detail. All the structures are examples of a well developed and highly intellectual group of people. Some of the traditions might seem a bit savage in today's terms, but it was part of their general life. I will anytime recommend this tour.
Chichen Itza is not to be missed attraction. Just dont book it with Cancun Vacation Experts. The communication was very poor. We booked a private tour and they subcontracted our trip to USA Transfer. Then Cancun Experts failed to provide the correct hotel name to pick us up. After an hour or so of waiting and trying to find out where the driver was, they stop answering the phone call. Terrible customer service. The lunch was at the Cenote and was very bad. Do not book with Cancun Vacation Experts!

Worth the investment. Get to pick your own schedule...make sure you bring your swim suits for the second part of the day! Had Mario as our driver and he was our tour guide too for a small extra cost. When its HOT, always great to be able to move to the next event vs. waiting for the scheduled departure of the bus tour.

Despite being advertised being advertised as a private drive and tour of the site with an archaeologist, we only had a driver who told us he could find a "friend" who could guide us for an extra $75.00 each (cash only) who could serve serve as a guide. We paid and received the standard tourist description of the site. This was not what was not at all what was advertised.
I just retired. we booked a tour with XCARET tours in our hotel, Cancun Plaza but they have offices in most hotels. 14 1/2 hours later and not the tour we booked, they apologized and gave us the shaft. AND it is not cheap! they basically got our money and said F you. RUN, do not walk from XCARET tours. they were rude, condescending and lied to us every day saying they were going to make it right. look for another tour company. 9 12 hours on the bus and not the sights we booked.......
Knowledgeable and personable driver and guide and comfortable vehicle made a long drive pleasant and educational. We learned things about the Mayans and their architecture from our guide that made the visit at Chichen Itza more interesting and understandable.
For a family of four, this was worth every penny for the convenience and just to avoid the craziness, confusion and mob scene that awaits at Chichen Itza and having to figure out everything yourself. We chose for our guide to pick us up at 7:30 (you can pick any time you want) and return us at 4 to our Cancun hotel. Our guide was on time and arrived in a very nice, clean, spacious white minivan and was a very safe driver. He was polite, courteous and professional but didn't make much conversation the whole trip. He stopped at a rest stop for us halfway there. Drive was about 2.5 hrs to Chichen Itza and when we arrived it was a madhouse there: tons of people and tour buses. On the way, we asked our driver to hook us up with a private guide, which costs extra. He made some calls and when we arrived he took us directly to meet with our tour guide, Eric, at the entrance. The driver and Eric bought our tickets for us so we didn't have to wait in any lines. Eric, who also spoke Mayan, took us through the entrance and gave us a fabulous tour--much, much better than the ones people were getting who came on the tour buses. There was a choice of a tour of "highlights" for $60 or the whole thing for $75. We did the $75 and it was just fabulous. Eric was great. You pay your guide at the end in cash. Be sure to tip well too! The ruins are amazing and a must-see once in your life. There are tons of vendors selling souvenirs all over the grounds of Chichen Itza so you can do your shopping there. Pick up a jaguar-sound whistle for $1. They seemed to take both pesos and dollars but you get a better deal if you always pay in pesos. Haggle and walk away; they will come after you with a reduced offer. There is also a nice gift shop too. We spent about 2.5- 3 hrs there. (Also there is a time change I believe--you cross the time zones driving there from Cancun) At the end, we met our driver outside the entrance and he drove us to lunch in the neighboring town of Piste, where we ate a buffet meal at Restaurante Hacienda Xaybe'h which we had bought with the whole trip package. The hacienda grounds are beautiful there. We got there early before all the other tour buses and Chichen Itza tourists arrived and we had the place to ourselves (benefit of NOT going on a tour bus!!) There was entertainment--dancing show--and the food was very simple but good. Mexican tomatoes were delicious (such flavor!), chicken, pork, rice, cucumber salad, fruit, fish. We ate quick-in and out-and were back on the road by 1:30 so we could be home at our designated time of 4. We did not have time for our driver to take us to a cenote because we wanted to be home early. This private tour was worth every penny because you don't have to deal with any hassles and you save a ton of time. The driver and guide do it all for you. It was stress-free and that made all the difference. We were home at 4 to swim at the beach while the other tour buses arrived back at the hotels at around 7pm or later, and those people looked frazzled and tired. The only thing I would change is to get a friendlier, more talkative bus driver. After all, you're in the car with him for 5 hours! Otherwise, this was a fabulous trip.

I was skeptical on many levels about hiring a private driver for this tour, but all the other options involved a full day plus. Having only four full days in Cancun I wanted to maximize my experience in as little time as possible. I cannot say enough about our driver, David and our guide Fernando. When calling to confirm our driver, I asked if they had a guide who could help us. Little did I know the man they booked for us would be such an experienced, kind man with such an AMAZING amount of information. I had my daughter in law and two grown sons with us and for them to voice such a positive appreciation to me says it all. Fernando, if you can get, will NOT disappoint. This man has not only done his research, he literally has lived the experience personally through his family. One of the BEST guides EVER in any city in the world. Standing ovation to you, Fernando!

David was kind and considerate, having cold drinks in the cooler and making a pit stop for us halfway to Chichen Itza. The lunch experience was conducted professionally and the food was very good. Buyer beware - drinks are NOT included in the cost. A second standing ovation to you, DAVID! Thank you for making the day so pleasant for us!

HIGHLY recommended day trip from Cancun to Chicen Itza, plus you don't have to deal with groups of people on a bigger bus.

fantastic trip loved every minute, guide was fantastic. Private tour and our driving was so good.

My family of 5 was treated to fabulous day in Chichen Itza a few weeks ago. Our driver, Ariel, was most informative, both as we journeyed to Chichen Itza, and while we visited the ruins there. Much of the information he shared, was later corroborated when I viewed a YouTube video on Chichen Itza. Ariel greatly contributed to my knowledge of and appreciation for the Mayan culture. This trip was the highlight of our visit to Cancun!

Absolutely fantastic tour, Micshel our driver was a mind of information about the Mayans and the area in general. Booked with Viator many times now, all have been great tours, but this tour of Chichen Itza was up there with the best. Great air conditioned transport, a mini bus to ourselves Just me and my wife On time being picked up, we were taken straight to the front of a very long queue by Mischel on arriving at Chichen Itza, had as long as we wanted there and then a nice drive back to Cancun chatting to Mischel about Mexico and the best places to visit whilst we were there. Not going to bang on about Chechen Itza, it speaks for its self, Amazing place. Brilliant tour, thank you Viator.

Very cool to see the ancient Mayan ruins up close! It's hot so bring an umbrella or hat but completely worth it. I wish I'd read up a bit before I went to get the most out of it. And after you have to go swimming at the Canote. That's a must. Breathtaking. So bring your swimsuit and a towel. You can rent lockers, life vests and towels if you want. Oh, and everything takes cash, and tips. Be prepared so you don't have to go to an ATM every minute. There is a buffet restaurant at the Canote swimming hole which is ok, but if you're famished, it's fantastic. My driver was great and having a private ride was much better than waiting on the busses. A splurge, but worth it!

The tour was terrific. The site is larger than I imagined - it is much more than the pyramid. We also had a superb driver and guide. For anyone in the area and who has never been to the site - it is worth the travel

My wife and I had an excellent experience. Jorge was our driver and was very professional and spoke great English. The van was newer and very clean with great AC It is worth the price for a private ride to and from chichen itza. You leave when you want and stop anytime you need.

The private tour of Chichen Itza was the highlight of my family's trip to Mexico. Our driver, David and guide, Hugo arrived at our resort early and were waiting for us to start our day. Hugo was knowledgeable, friendly and very easy going with our family of four. Without him, I'm certain we wouldn't have covered as much ground as we did. Chichen Itza is one of those sites you'll want to visit every chance you get as you're certain to uncover something new each time. After our tour, we were offered refreshments on the drive to the Cenote. There, we had a buffet lunch which we washed down with agua frescas. It gave us just enough energy to take a dip in the cool water of the sinkhole. A wonderful experience overall!

Driver, Manuel, was great. Very polite and courteous. Its a long drive from Cancun and almost nothing to see on the way, but Chichen Itza is very nice. Worth the trip. Go early, its very hot by noon. Cenote was the highlight. Bring pesos as the dollar rate is very poor. The buffet lunch was terrible. They cram you in a room with hundreds of people. You can't get more than 1 serving because the lines are so long. If you don't have pesos, the dollar equivalent cost is 30USD per person.

We had to switch our hotel because it was overbooked. We contacted Viator about the change two days before our trip and they confirmed they had the change. We contacted them again a day before the trip. The morning of the trip, there was no vehicle to pick us up. We ended up calling then 3 times that morning of the trip to find out the driver went to our original hotel. There needs to be better communication between Viator and the drivers.

Our driver was very pleasant and definitely helped us getting tickets to get into Chichen Itza and the Cenote. We very much appreciated his help. The vehicle was clean and comfortable.

Excellent service. Our driver was professional and helpful. We also like the flexibility of the tour. We did not want to see a village as suggested by the agency so we wanted to see Ek Balam instead and the driver took us there. Of course, we bought our own ticket entrance since this was not in the original plan but it was okay. We really enjoyed the trip and the service.

Excellent tour. Our driver was Victor. He was 20 minutes early for us! That was unfortunate for him because we are not an early family lol! But all in all he was helpful, a safe driver, knowledgable and was extremely pleasant to be around. He recommended a guide for us, and the guide - Guillermo was waiting when we arrived. He was prompt in getting tickets etc and from Chichen Itza to the Cenote. Unfortunately due to our time constraints we did not get to spend as long as we would have liked at the Cenote.

It was lovely to learn about Mayan culture, and the guide was exceptional. The weather was extremely hot, and the less clothes you wear, the better, but load up on sunscreen or you will get burnt! Hats can be purchased as you arrive for about 5 USD before you go in to the venue itself.

Just to be clear, what's included in the package I took: 7 persons, 114 USD per person - tickets to Chichen Itza and the Cenote, buffet lunch nothing special, personalized tour times - decide your own start point and end point, as well as transportation to and from the site.

Will highly recommend this tour.

For the Mexican government or whoever is in charge of running Chichen Itza, please please reduce the number of vendors you have lining the walkways around your beautiful ruins. They are cumbersome and definitely take away from the experience.

Will highly recommend this tour to anyone!

The trip was great but the best part about it was our private driver -Ray Gonzalez! Ray made everything fun and easy. He is an amazing host and we felt very safe with him.

We had the perfect day, our driver was fantastic attending to everything and more. Have used Viator in the past and will be definitely using again. Thank you Viator for making our holiday more special.

Incredible experience, your tour guide and all of his suggestions made the trip a wonderful family experience we will all remember for the rest of our lives! Well worth the money! Thank you. Paul

There were 9 of us on a tour to Chichen Itza and we all enjoyed it immensely. Upon arriving to our resort I spoke of them hiring a tour guide, who they had hired and was waiting when we arrived. The driver also stopped at 3 places we wanted along the way. After the tour we went for lunch at an air conditioned buffet that served very good food and was most welcome on a hot day in May. I do believe it was less expensive than other tour groups and it cut off probably 3 hours of the ride with a personal van.

We loved our day trip to Chichen Itza and Cenote. Loredo was our local guide. He gave us the perfect balance of interesting facts and stories and never rushed us on our own. He offered lots of information about the Yucatan and was so happy to have us for the day. He stated himself He LOVES his Job! and you can tell he does. I recommend the private tour, so much more time efficient and relaxing than all the buses we saw.

We were a family of four and we enjoyed our tour. The tour driver was at the hotel on time and returned us to the hotel on time. He guided us to places were we need to go and provided us all of the tickets needed for the tour. He was professional and took care of us from the start of the tour to the end.

The private tour is the way to go. Had so much fun and was very informative.

The tour was great. Having the private tour worked out great for the 6 of us. We could spend the amount of time we wished for each place. Highly recommended.

Excellent day, the driver was flexible and accommodating, very knowledgable, informative and excited to share the best of the area. Would recommend and definitely go again

This was fantastic. Driver was cheerful, informative and a good driver. Car was immaculate and we had a great time.

Our driver has on time and helpful - recommending a great spot for lunch. Our tour guide at Chichen Itza was informative and engaging.

Thanks to Felix our driver and Manuel our tour guide we had a great day. I would recommend this tour to anyone going to Chichen Itza. Having your own driver and van was key. The ability to do what ever you want when you want made a full day tour perfect.

We've been to the Mayan ruins in Belize (Lamanai) and Guatemala (Tikal), which are quite impressive. I was impressed with what we found at Chichen Itza. The only difference, and drawback we found in the Yucatan site was the vast number of aggressive vendors trying to sell souvenirs (mostly mass produced junk too). We found one local artist there, Efrain Cetz, who produced very high quality wood carvings. The tour will be vastly more enjoyable if you read some books on Mayan culture before you arrive.

This was fantastic. This is the best way to see Chichen Itzá. Great personal service. I loved it.

Fantastic tour, the personal service really suited us with a young family. Our driver Loredo was incredibly attentive and made sure we got the best out of the day. The tour included not only chic hen Itza but also a lovely swim in a cenote and a visit to town of historical interest. We would highly recommend this private tour.

My family of 5 had a great private tour to chichenitza. Our driver Raul Asolar? was fantastic. He drove, took photos, and made great recommendations for a things to do on the way back to cancun. We stoped at a beautiful cenote to swim and have lunch and then went to playa del Carmen to window shop.

I can't do a reasonable review in this few words. If you want more detail, email me. Trip was fine, we were surprised it didn't include a tour at Chichen Itza and almost didn't have enough money to engage a guide there. Even though it's not promised, make that more explicit in your tour description.

Very nice excursion. Good lunch. Cenote very crowded. Guide was nice, gave us the option to guide at the site or not.

This was, without a doubt, the best way to get to Chichen Itza. Cancun is very spread out, so this saved us such a lot of time avoiding lots of hotel pick-ups, enabling us to spend that time exploring Chichen Itza instead. Highly recommend..
