Amazing experience. The purification ceremony was unlike any other experience I have had before. The swim in the cenote following the ceremony was nice and gave us time to bond with others in the tour group. Dinner was delicious and I felt welcomed in the village.

You will have an introduction to the ceremony of Mayan purification. You will learn to play the sea snail, which you will use during the ritual to unite to us with the nature. Meet with the Shaman around the ceremonial circle where you will be part of a spectacular ancestral ritual of purification and will have the unique opportunity to enter the Temazcal (old sacred steam bath). Walk in the rain forest until arriving at the illuminated natural well (cenote) at night to swim in crystalline waters. It is an unforgettable experience to enjoy this moment to take energy and to relax.
Hot chocolate is served in a typical Mayan jicara, which you will be able to keep as a gift. Enjoy a typical Mayan dinner with a family from the community before going back to your hotel.

The operator cancelled my booking a day after accepting payment. I was offered a refund, which wasn’t what I wanted, but was better than nothing. The operator’s communication implied that the fault was mine (“Because the booking was made at the last moment…), which may mean that they have no plans to change their system to avoid accepting payment for a trip they can’t provide. The operator had trips available the next two days but would not provide these at the same price as they were private tours. I still recommend the trip but maybe try another operator if you want a sure thing.
No communication on where to pick up. No response when calling number provided. No help. Don’t book. Terrible experience. Didn’t even get to go. They sent one message to say pick up time but not where to go, or what van/car to look out for when being picked up. You can’t reach anyone. They just take your money with ZERO communication.
This is one of the best most amazing underrated experiences I had during my stay in Tulum. If I'm being honest, I was quite skeptical due to some of the reviews but I'm glad I followed through with doing it. To start, our pick up was super easy as our meeting point was the Super Aki in Tulum town. Colin was so great at explaining what a Temazcal is and gave us such a great breakdown of what to expect. We picked up 3 other people and made our way to the Mayan village of Dos Palmas. The Mayan people there were so friendly and welcoming. There were other tours separate from ours that were there also. In total, there was about 30-40 participants. The shaman allowed time for the guides to translate what was happening during the whole process. Once inside the temazcal structure, the guides/shaman made sure to let us know if we werent feeling well and needed to exit, the process in doing that. They explainined it multiple times. It was such a beautiful and healing experience to say the least. You WILL sweat and it WILL get hot. It is all about breath work and staying calm and just focusing on whatever intention or relase you have intended for the experience. The cenote swin after was so nice and refreshing and a nice contrast of the hot steamy Temazcal. The dinner prepared by the Mayan women was very delicious. The locals do have a small shop of items that are handmade souvenirs so i'd recommend bringing money if you'd like to buy it from the locals.
Beautiful location in hotel with beautiful people who were kind and very helpful through our first time going to a Temezcal. I would go back again and again I would also stay in that hotel. All of their healing amenities were wonderful although we stayed at a beautiful hotel nearby. We still enjoyed both.
We were collected outside agreed pick up point on time. Tour operator had confirmed time and location prior via WhatsApp We travelled from downtown Cancun to the location with pickups along the way including Tulum and PDC, where we collected our guide Erica Erica is amazing , she is perfect as a guide for this trip as she lives a holistic lifestyle, is very friendly and inviting and speaks 6 languages and went out of her way to make sure everyone in the group understood (English, Spanish, French and Italian in the group) When arriving you are given a small tour of the community. This is an actual living breathing location with real Mayan people. Please be respectful to them and their customs You’re then given a chance to change a refresh before sundown, then over to an area to begin the ritual which begins outside. Erica explained as much as she could throughout without being invasive You then go into the hut where the ceremony begins. It can get quite hot but I’d liken to being in a sauna, it is small and can feel claustrophobic but I’d advice to sit back, close your eyes and breath and focus on whatever you want to achieve If you struggle there are points at which the shaman will check if all are ok and you can step out or you can call out during if really need be After the ceremony is complete, you can swim in the denote nearby to cool down. Then change and dry off before a humble meal prepared by the locals of chicken , rice and potatoes. Once done time is given to look at a local gift shop before returning Please be mindful that the travel time can be a while , I’d suggest a pack lunch if you have dietary requirements OR feel you will get hungry on your way back
Wonderful experience and lovely people. Except for a German guide who was in training, he was very rude. He didn't want us to sit down to eat with them because we were Mexicans. When we are in Mexico, imagine having racism from foreigners in Mexican lands!!! wtf
It's nothing like it says it is total tourist trap don't go. It wasn't local it was 3 1/2 away. That's 7 hours of travel. Guide only new about 8 to English words. No sea horns. No cups as a survivor
The ceremony was very nice and emotional. the bath afterwards in the Zenote was the highlight. if the people in the Temazcal had not spoken constantly, it would have been even better. the dinner was okay, not special. the guides were good and you felt comfortable. the long way from Cancun to nearby Tulum was very worthwhile.
Wonderful to experience a mayan ceremony/ritual in an authenitic mayan village. Brings things back down to earth when living in the technological/digital world. The pick up/drive from Cancun was a bit long but well worth it.
This experience exceeded expectations. It was a true honor to be welcomed into a small, traditional Mayan community. The guides do a wonderful job explaining the process of the temazcal ceremony and what to expect. The purification ritual itself was beautiful and intense. The cenote after was magical. To end the night, we all shared a home cooked traditional Mayan dinner lit by candles. If you’re looking for an authentic excursion and to add deeper meaning and value to your experience in Mexico, book this trip. Thank you to the community for inviting us in to your sacred space.
Wow what an experience, I think it’s been one of our favourite tours. Melissa was a great guide! The group size was 20 in total but this is the only amount of people who will fit in the steam hut place and it didn’t feel too crowded. It felt surreal taking part in the ceremony and most of the group managed the full 25 minutes. They do give you the opportunity to leave if you do want to, if you do feel like you may struggle I’d recommend sitting by the door. It’s the best steam room I’ve ever been in - they use rosemary and other things and the smell is amazing. There is some singing and at some points you’re all clapping and howling and having a laugh- you are all in pitch black after they blow the candles out so no one can see you. I would just say that you don’t chat during the process as it’s not fair to others, although you may think you’re being quiet- it echoes. The ceynote was not deep and crystal clear and had small fish and terrapins swimming - it’s worth seeing in daylight, when you swim later it’s so refreshing and the terrapins seemed to vanish. It was a much nicer experience than the crowded noisy larger ceynote we’ve been too since. The bus ride is fairly long but I just read a book on the way there, just wish I took a neck pillow for the way back. Tips: wear your swimwear underneath your clothes and take a bag for wet stuff after. Remember your towel and mosquito repellent. Flip flops/sandals are good to wear here. There is a small gift shop, and there is a tip jar after the meal so worth taking a bit of cash. It’s also best to tip the guide before getting back on the bus as she got off the bus before we did.
A once in a lifetime experience that will last a lifetime! This is a great option when you want something that you can’t do at home. You can always zip line at home but when can you experience a real Mayan Cleansing Ritual!
Recommend but wished there were less people there...this one had close to 50 people. Beautiful cenote and great meal...
The authenticity of the Mayan village was great. The ceremony was somewhat tarnished by another group that came in a different van that immediately ordered beer when they arrived. This ruined the sacredness of the ceremony for my wife and I. In the future I think it would be better to limit the sale of alcohol to after the ceremony. Otherwise we enjoyed it very much and the cenote was beautiful. The meal that was prepared was also delicious.
It was incredible. Olga took the time to explain everything in multiple languages while. Pick up time was right on point. The driver and guide were very accommodating. The ceremony was incredible. Everyone in the village was so welcoming.
My husband and I were spending our honeymoon in Tulum and found this tour at the last minute. I was a little nervous since there were not a ton of reviews for it. However, the whole experience was wonderful. The staff were kind and very informative. The Temazcal was rejuvenating and a very spiritual experience. That being said, if you do this please be respectful and do not talk during the Temazcal. It is not only rude and disrespectful to the Mayan people, it hurts the experience for the other people in the group. Also, be aware that the sensory experience can be a bit overwhelming given that you are in a small hut all in the dark with 20 other people and it is very very hot. If you struggle with sensory issues this may not be for you. I found that once I got used to the sensation it was quite pleasant. After the Temazcal, we swam in a cenote located in the village. The water felt magically cool after the Temazcal. Finally, we finished with an authentic Mayan dinner, which was absolutely delicious. A 10/10 experience that I would definitely do again!
I want to first say I would’ve rated a five out of five, the experience was amazing! Only because my husband and I have been properly taught how to sweat out of the US. Why I chose a 3 is, My complaint that the Tour Guides MUST prepare the Tourists better! We are Going to a working Mayan Village, and choosing to participate in Real Ceremony, but then tourists undermine that by being disrespectful. The Guides not teaching people the APPROPRIATE EXPECTATIONS like NOT TALK during the sweat while the Curandero is singing! To teach people that THEY are going to experience a Healing and a Cleansing So THEY Should be respectful to the villagers AND OTHER TOURISTS by not SMOKING by the Temezcal, to RESPECT the Curanderos AND OTHER TOURISTS Who may Actually Know the traditions and were there for the EXPERIENCE IN A DIFFERENT WAY, to be restful of other tourists, to clean up after themselves. Also if there is going to be tour guides from other countries going multiple times over months, I suggest they have their OWN tour, and to not be mixed with new comers. As their inappropriate opinions of the experience can taint another’s opinion or experience!! It was Extremely Disappointing to be around ignorant people and guides that made it No Big Deal.
One of the best experiences in our lives!I was blown away by everyone's kindness. Oscar was professional and explained everything perfectly! Mauricio was also very helpful and kind. I would highly recommend for anyone interested in learning about the Mayan culture.
One of the best experiences I have had it was a night to remember during summer solstice. Take the time to experience it
If you want to learn more about culture and customs, this tour was very interesting and authentic. I would highly recommend it. You’re taken into a Mayan village and given the opportunity to experience their way of life. The ceremony, which was translated by a guide, was mindful and spiritual. Part of the ritual has pretty intense heat in an enclosed dark space but you have the option to bale if it gets beyond your comfort zone. The cenote swim afterwards was awesome and very refreshing but you must be able to descend a staircase to access it. Our gracious village hosts served a basic but delicious meal in an outdoor candlelit dining area. As you will find at any tourist stop in Mexico, there was a small shopping area for souvenirs. The ride from Cancun was long, about 2 to 2.5 hours with lots of traffic. Since it is a nighttime ceremony, traffic wasn’t as heavy on the return but be prepared to arrive late to your hotel so you may want to sleep in the next morning.
We loved the ceremony, dinner, cenote and the bonding experience with other travelers. The one thing that wasn’t so great was the drive. Had I been informed that we were going to have to travel two hours each way I wouldn’t have been disappointed, but our driver told us we only had one more stop, but we made four more and our tour guide told us we would be there in 30 minutes and an hour and a half later we arrived. We even stopped at a gas station so she could get coffee and water. The tour is very close to Tulum, so if you are staying near there it’s not that far, but we stayed closer to Cancun in the Rivera area and it was pretty far. As I mentioned, if the expectation was set for that sort of journey it would have been fine. But it wasn’t. The experience itself was delightful, very intense and we slept like babies afterward! I just wished we would have known. Also, bring bug spray! There were a lot of mosquitos. Wear your swimwear there with a coverup and a change of clothes for after.
The Mayan’s and the ceremony was Amazing but the travel to and from was HORRIBLE. The website should make people aware that if you’re staying in Cancun the ride is at the least 3 hrs and that’s with no traffic. Going it was a 4 hour ride for me that’s with the driver having to pick up other travelers including the tour guide. We spent a lot of time waiting for guest to come out of their resort’s and when we picked up the tour guide she had to stop for coffee and water. Travelers should also be made aware of the fact that this ceremony does not start until dark so plan on staying really late. I got back to my resort after midnight.
All I can say is absolutely amazinggggg!!! Very humble and accepting people. The steam bath was intense yet incredibly satisfying. This is a ceremony that I would definitely do again. I feel truly humbled after this experience.
This was an amazing and intense experience. The sweat lodge is crazy and will purify every cell in your body .. no joke..lol. It was a truly spiritual experience and the swim at the end in the cenote was incredible. The guide and shaman were great. I definitely recommend it to anyone who feels they would enjoy this type of experience.
Good show, sauna and swimming in the night. Food was also good. Giving 4 of 5 because Blue Caribe didn’t provide water on a van. Jesus from Delta Vacations organized this tour perfectly before my arrival to Mexico.
Absolutely recommend! If you are interested in mayan culture and looking for a unique experience, I highly suggested this tour. We saw a typical mayan home, ate delicious homemade mayan food, and participated in a ceremony I’ll never forget. The ceremony and temezcal is one of the best experiences I’ve ever been apart of. The cenote at night was also an incredible experience. Our tour guide Gustavo was extremely knowledgeable and kind. If you have an open mind and are interested in mayan culture, then this is for you! Honestly, if you don’t book this tour you’re missing out. Just for people interested in the time frame, we left at 3 pm and got back around 12am.
It was an amazing experience. My daughter and I love it. The ceremony and the people doing the ceremony were beautiful. Thank you
This was one of my most impactful events I participated my whole Cancun trip! The Mayan village we visited was a step into a truly special place suspended in time! It was amazing to first experience traditional meal preparation which was delicious when we ate it after the ceremony. The actual purification ceremony was very uplifting and eye opening. The guide was very good at explaining and translating the words and actions that were happening around us. after the purification, we enter the Temazcal. This was an intense sensory experience but safe guards were in place to insure you could remove yourself from it if it gets too intense... Afterwards, a dip in an open cenote, to cool off then a traditional meal was served with the freshest tortillas I've ever had...Will do again!!!!!
Great work amazinf staff and happy to work with you and keep up the great work and amazing contact and thanks
On our last night in Cancun saved this tour for last. We have travelled extensively and the ceremony felt authentic to us. It was an awesome evening with delicious homemade food served by Mayan people in their own community. The drive out is long ie 1hr 45 min from Cancun so be warned but on the way back you are so relaxed you sleep the whole way! The swim in the cenote under the moonlight was especially memorable. Would highly recommend.
When people from tribe told us : you are going to be born again, they weren’t joking :))) . So many little details made overall experience an amazing flow of stubble energy within us...
An absolute must, the tour was awsome, the guide explanation were great, the purification ceremony a wonderful experience and the temazcal top ! Swimming at night in the cenote is amazing.
The activity itself was very good but unfortunately very VERY touristic... we went there as a couple and we meet a large group of Russian people there. You will be with 20 people at the same time, and your guide will jut explain you what to do but not why we do it. No history background just a cash machine with local people forced to play like maya... too bad, it could have been very good.

Our tour guide, Ricardo, was excellent, very knowledgeable. The experience was authentic, and most importantly, a portion of the proceeds from the tour go towards a school for Mayan children to preserve the Mayan culture and language. Drink lots of water before you go. The sweat lodge - even though it's only 1/2 hour, is pretty warm.

Excelente el temazcal y la ceremonia de purificación y estar en la selva conociendo las tradiciones mayas fue genial.
Una experiencia maravillosa. La acogida de la comunidad maya fue muy bonita. La ceremonia en el temazcal es única en la vida.
This was one of the few things that topped the trip, the most genuine Mexican. Very interesting experience, a must! Also, I had the absolute best and most enthusiastic guide ever 🙌🏼
