Jorge picked us up and we traveled to a local market. It was fun to walk around as he spotted what he would purchase. We went into a fun open air restaurant where he taught us how to make Guacamole and enchilada sauce. We made our own tortillas and cooked Sopas, quesadillas and tacoes too. It was a fun day with yummy food.

It was phenomenal, I was here with my husband who’s on a business trip and was solo but wanted to get out and experience the culture. Our guide was made me feel comfortable and welcome and was so knowledgeable. The other couple I met was just lovely the whole experience was honestly just a pleasure.
We had a wonderful time at this Mexican cooking class. Hector was a great guide, showing us around the market and giving us time to explore while he picked up ingredients for the class. The cooking session was relaxed and enjoyable. Most of the prep work had already been done, so we focused on putting everything together to create a delicious meal. It was a fun, easy-going experience, and we learned a lot along the way. Highly recommended!
Jorge was an excellant teacher and chef. We learned so much selecti g peppers at the market. His chef skills were top notch. It was a joy learning from him. Be sure to order a large marguerita. The delivery is a show stopper.
Absolutely amazing experience! From the market to the table both Sasha and Alex carried us through the experience with a personal and authentic touch. I would highly recommend this venture!
It was amazing. The vehicle from which they picked us up in to the restaurant we cooked in clean, friendly atmosphere and very accommodating. Sasha was clear and concise with his directions and enthusiasm. He included all of us and his cooking and the food was delicious. Damien was the grill guy he was there for questions and helpful directions.
Sasha was great! Food was outstanding. Learned lots of new things about salsa, taco and guacamole preparation.
Sasha and Damien were amazing. Pickup was on time and the vehicle was very clean. We all went to the market to purchase and learn about the ingredients for our cooking class.Arrived at La Parillo restaurant where they had the access to the grill and all the tools they needed. We prepared guacamole, soapas, quesadillas ,tortillas and rice pudding. It was above all expectations. There were 5 of us participating, great group of people. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommend.
You get a tour of the local market and you learn how to cook some traditional Mexican dishes from a chef and you get to eat your creations.
Sasha was absolutely AMAZING!!!!! There aren’t enough words to express the thoughtfulness, the patience and the fun that he brought to our experience. 100/10!! Please book this experience with Sasha!
Sasha was an amazing tour guide and showed us all the local items at the market, how to choose the produce for the meal we were cooking and shared a lot of information on traditional Mexican market items. The cooking portion of the tour was the highlight! We learned how to make homemade guacamole, tortillas, and other traditional Mexican meal staples. Sasha did a great job instructing us and explaining everything as he went. He was a very personable guide and chef and recommended taking his tours! Damien our driver and sous chef was a great assistant!
Excellent experience. Would highly recommend. Damian was a proficient driver, while Sasha was a great host and chef. The restaurant was great that hosted the location. We would definitely attend again and book other tours through them based on our experience.
Sasha was absolutely amazing and so was the food he had us prepare! We loveeeee the menu he had prepared for us, shopping locally, learning about the mexican culture through food and conversation, and just having a great time in general. Everything was delicious!!!!
I recently attended an incredible cooking class in Cancún, and it was truly one of the highlights of my trip. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The chef not only shared authentic recipes but also explained the cultural history behind each dish, which made the experience so much richer. We prepared traditional Mexican favorites with fresh, local ingredients, and I learned techniques I’ll definitely use at home. The hands-on approach made it fun and interactive, and the chef’s passion for food was contagious. The best part? Sitting down together at the end to enjoy the meal we had cooked—it felt like sharing dinner with family. If you’re visiting Cancún and want to immerse yourself in local culture, this cooking class is an absolute must.
It wad fun! The class was accommodating of the food allergies and food restrictions (halal eats etc.). Presenter: Sasha
It was a great experience to walk through the market (though, be prepared for heat depending on the season) and the food we made was excellent. I will take some tricks home.
This was a great experience. Sasha was excellent and taught me little tricks that will improve the way I’ve made things before.
Sasha was such a pleasure of a tour guide for our Cancun Food Tour! He not only was knowledgeable about all the foods and spices that make up the recipes that we went through, but he was willing to work with everyone in the group despite their level of cooking expertise. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to see some of the culture of Cancun and try their hand at creating some tasty dishes!
We got to visit the local Mercado 23 to pick the ingredient, made the guacamole and tortilla, and chef made the mango salsa, and other stuffs. Fun experience.
Sasha was amazing. He explained everything well and was patient with my mother. First time I actually liked Guacamole. Would highly recommend this experience.
Loved it! We walked the market before the class with our guide/chef explaining different things to us. We shopped while he purchased the fresh ingredients for our meal. When preparing the food, our chef was eager for us to learn and know about the authentic Mexican food. Our waiter came out dancing while balancing our drinks in his head! Favorite part was making the fresh guacamole. Highly recommend!
Personalized Fun Educational Delicious G and Angel were great hosts. We learned a lot about the products in the open air market. Then the restaurant cooking class was hands on. It's the third time I have done this one and would do it again.
Market had good souvenir shopping, also showed our teens a more realistic (non-resort) side of Cancun. It was nice to browse and not feel accosted, prices were slightly negotiable but not like the haggling at other places. Cooking was not complicated- amateurs could learn basics and feel successful, established cooks could improve technique and try new recipes. I've made some of the dishes since returning home. Included transport was clean, safe, and convenient. Excellent family activity.
George was awesome and Alex's salsa is the bomb!
Spectacular and best guides possible. Thank you Sasha and Tambien
G, Jorge, and Angel were absolutely amazing! So nice, helpful, and informative on every topic and question! This experience was one of the best excursions I’ve ever been on! Thank you to the team for making this day memorable for me and my friends!
Angel, G, & George were amazing!! I loved every second of this experience and I recommend it to everyone! 10/10
G, Jorge and Angel were amazing! This was a lot of fun for us! The food was great & we learned a lot. The market trip was a great, it was cool to see the fresh foods. They were very accommodating and the cooking process and restaurant was so clean. Definitely recommend doing!
We had a great group, the chefs did a great job, the food was fun to prepare. They were timely and efficient.
I had an amazing experience!! Sasha, Jorge and Alex went above and beyond to make this excursion seamless and stress free. We cooked, drank and ATE ALOT! I recommend this 100/10
I was very excited for this excursion, unfortunately I was never picked up. I tried contacting the tour company by call and text with no luck. I waiting in the lobby for an hour before giving up.
Sasha was over and above AMAZING!!! Here I thought I knew something about cooking he made everything over the top fantastic. What a great experience would definitely do again and will tell everyone to do this tour and cross your fingers you’ll get Sasha as your guide.
Great experience, highly recommend to go. Chef was very nice, talked about the produce and ways to select ripest ones. Went through some history of the food in the area. Making your own food was fun, highly recommend to anyone thinking about culinary interests.
Alex and Sasha were so great and gave us Ana amazing tour. Would recommend to everyone I know that comes to Cancun
Sasha was the absolute best!! He walked us through every step of the cooking and provided a fun environment! Everything was well planned and laid out for us so we had nothing to do except cook! This was a highlight of our vacation
Great experience! Sasha the guide was amazing! Great teacher and entertainer. Market was an experience on its own.
Great! We enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It was easy to follow along and enjoy the whole time.
I was unsure what to really expect with this class. After a tour of the local market we headed to a restaurant that was set up for our arrival. We sat at a table with new friends while waiting Sasha to set up for our first lesson. Guacamole! Best Guacamole I have ever had. We processed to the bar and enjoyed a small margarita while feasting on our home made Guacamole and chips. Next up we learned about Masa and enchilada sauce. Overall this ended up being a wonderful experience. I definitely feel more knowledgeable in Mexican cuisine. From our driver Alex to chef Damien and chef Sasha we had an amazing time. Thank you for all you do to make this an enjoyable visit.
Great time with Sacha, the market tour was okay, but cooking class was great. (I would suggest the free drink at the beginning of cooking class and paid bar with lunch.) We all had a great time and enjoyed Sacha’s local knowledge and experience! The hotel pickup and return was super easy.
My husband and I did the cooking class and had the best time. It was one of the best experiences on our honeymoon. Our guide Sasha was very personable and made the experience interesting and very informative. Touring the market was an exciting experience and the food was phenomenal. We enjoyed making it and we will carry what we learned with us! We recommend this experience to anyone looking for an authentic experience! We appreciated the round trip transportation from Alex and Allergy as well. Everyone was very friendly.
My husband and I did the cooking class and had the best time. It was one of the best experiences on our honeymoon. Our guide Sasha was very personable and made the experience interesting and very informative. We would recommend this experience to anyone looking for an authentic experience!
Pleasant de'cor and atmosphere
The staff for the market tour and cooking class were warm, welcoming, and eager to share their knowledge of local culture and history of Cancun. The market trip to Mercado 23 was amazing and eye opening. Then we had a cooking class at an authentic restaurant and we made the best guacamole we’ve ever made and we cook a lot!! Sasha And Alex were excellent tour leads. Sasha has a great amount of experience in the culinary/entertainment world. The food was delicious and the margaritas were excellent. I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a unique cultural experience. If you’re interested in an experience that combines local culture and cooking this is a great experience for you. If you are being picked up, please note the pick up time is different than the start time of the event. We made a mistake and they graciously allowed us to change our reservation. Highly recommend!!
Great price and very immersive cooking class. Informative and fun! Fresh ingredients and amazing info. Sasha was awesome!
This was such a fun and unique excursion. Everything from visiting the market to the hands on cooking, it was well structured, fun, and I learned a lot. I guides were fun, polite and knowledge. This was a great class for beginner cooks into the Mexican cuisine.
If you’re staying at a resort and looking for something fun to do, I recommend this activity. It was great to learn about the Mexican culture, exploring the market and being able to try dishes you normally wouldn’t have. It was a very fun and interactive experience. The hosts were great as well. Super knowledgeable and friendly.
The cooking class with Sasha as our guide was truly the highlight of our trip. He is incredibly personable and clearly puts his heart into what he does, taking us to a local market instead of a tourist spot and introducing us to unique fruits and ingredients we had never seen before, while explaining everything in a way that was both engaging and easy to understand. Even though we were already familiar with cooking, he shared so many small techniques, traditions, and details that elevated the entire experience, and the warm, fun atmosphere he created helped our group bond in a really special way. A personal highlight was that even our older son, who normally avoids avocados, loved Sasha’s guacamole so much that he ate the entire bowl, which says everything. Thank you, Sasha, for your attentiveness and passion, it was a truly memorable experience, and we hope this work brings you as much fulfillment as you bring to others.
Had an amazing time with Sasha and Angel! We were picked up at our resort on time and headed to the market to grab ingredients and shop around downtown Cancun. Sasha gave great history lessons and told us everything about each shop and food we passed at the market. The cooking experience was so much fun getting to know how to prep and prepare the ingredients and learning how the flavors would work for each recipe. Highly recommend!!
I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with this Viator booking for the “Mexican Cooking Class with Local Market and Transportation” on March 26, 2026—and I never even got to attend the class. The issue started when I accidentally selected the wrong pickup location (The Westin instead of Aloft in the hotel zone where I was staying that night). As soon as I realized my mistake around 7 PM the evening before, I immediately tried to contact the company. The only option available was a chat box, so I sent a message requesting to change the pickup location. After waiting with no response, I assumed nothing could be done. The next morning, I reread the policy stating no changes within 24 hours, so I took responsibility and Ubered to the original pickup location (The Westin), arriving around 9:10–9:15 AM—well before the 9:30 start time. While waiting, I checked the chat again and saw that the company had responded the night before (around 9:15 PM) saying they could switch my pickup location—but by then it was too late. I was already at the original location. At that point, everything fell apart. I tried desperately to contact the company—through the chat, and by calling, and even via WhatsApp—but received no meaningful response. The hotel I had just left (Aloft) confirmed no one had arrived for pickup. Meanwhile, staff at The Westin also said no one had come looking for guests. Eventually, I received a vague message around 9:48 AM thanking me for my communication—but offering no help whatsoever. By then, I had clearly missed the pickup. I even tried to salvage the situation by asking for the class location so I could Uber there myself, but they provide no address for the actual class—only pickup details. So despite doing everything I could, I was completely stuck. To make matters worse, I later found out the driver apparently showed up at the Aloft around 9:29 AM (one minute before the class start time), asked for me briefly, and left. No call. No message. No effort to actually reach me—despite me actively trying to contact them the entire time. I paid extra for transportation, which ended up being the very reason I couldn’t attend. Had I not selected pickup, I could have simply gone to the class myself. The lack of communication from this company is unacceptable and ultimately cost me the entire experience. Viator’s response made things even worse. They claimed they conducted an “investigation” and found me at fault—without ever asking me for any information or evidence. It felt like a complete brush-off, likely because they profit from these bookings and have no incentive to support customers when things go wrong. Bottom line: I lost $100 on an experience I was genuinely excited about, all because of poor communication and a disorganized system. Based on my experience, I strongly advise against booking this activity. If you do, avoid the pickup option at all costs. This felt incredibly shady, and I would not trust this company again.
This was hands down one of the best experiences of our entire trip to Cancun. Sasha and Alex are incredible guides knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely passionate about Mexican food and culture. They made every step of the experience feel personal and fun. We started at a fresh local market, where Sasha walked us through the stalls, explaining the ingredients, and sharing the stories behind the food. It was the kind of behind-the-scenes access you just can't get on your own. The colors, the smells, the energy of the market all of it came alive because of how well they guided us through it. The cooking class itself was fantastic. We learned techniques we'll actually use at home, and everything we made tasted absolutely amazing. Sasha and Alex kept the atmosphere lively and welcoming, whether you're a seasoned cook or a complete beginner, you'll feel right at home. If you're visiting Cancun and want an experience that goes beyond the resort, book this immediately. You won't regret it for a second.
