It's rare to find a tour these days that doesn't feel manufactured, but this experience in Las Coloradas and Rio Lagartos was truly authentic. Our guide Miguel ensured this was an education, not just a photo stop. We learned about the delicate balance of the mangroves and animals, and it genuinely made us feel better about being there. The area feels so quiet an real. When you understand the protected nature of the reserve, the flamingos become the actual story, not just a pretty background. A wonderfully grounding full day tour that we will remember for a long time!

My husband and I have been to Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and Punta Cana, but Las Coloradas was unlike anything we'd seen before. This was our first trip to Mexico and this tour was a highlight. We had an early pickup from Cancun and they were right no time. We were actually the ones running a little late! The van was comfortable and air-conditioned and we like being with a small group. We even made a few friends along the way which made the drive more fun. Our guide Miguel had a great personality and kept everyone in a good mood throughout the day. The pink water at Las Coloradas was beautiful! We also enjoyed learning about the salt production and how they work to protect the area while still allowing people to visit. The boat ride in Rio Lagartos was another highlight. It was relaxing and we got to see some of the local wildlife. A pelican actually landed right on our boat and we were lucky enough to get pictures! A big thank-you to our captain, "Don Jose". He gave us some great photo tips and handled that boat like a real pirate of the Caribbean. We had a lot of fun with him. If you're hesitating because of the drive, just know that it's a full-day commitment. For us though, it was well worth the early start and the time on the road. So glad we went!!!
Wow! What a memorable day and unforgettable adventure! Everything went very smoothly. In hindsight I'd recommend they give updates right when you board that the agenda and snacks won't start until everyone's on the bus which took nearly an hour. I just thought we were going to be sitting in silence for 4 hours. Once we were done picking folks up, guide Delfin passed out snacks which were great. An apple, juice, a ham and cheese sandwich and a granola bar. He then went over the agenda for the day. I did not remember how many cool things were included!! There is thankfully a bathroom on board. Just know the TP is behind the toilet seat so easy to miss. That could be designed better. Watch your head entering the bathroom! I hit mine scooting in. Otherwise the bus and ride were very comfortable and AC was great! Some folks were a bit chilly so maybe bring a small blanket or a hoodie to cover up with. The salt lake was unbelievable. Unreal once inside. From the outside and certain angles it was hard to see pink but then you walk a few steps and truly breathtaking! And the photos! I so appreciate the tour guide's help with that inside! She was great! The crocodile cruise was cool. We saw 2 crocodiles in the water which was neat though I did feel a bit bad that we were disturbing their peace when boats surrounded them. We only saw a few flamingos and the boat ride was a bit longer than expected. Several of us were getting very hungry so that part could have been a bit shorter. The stop off the boat to get in the water and try the mud bath was so cool! I have a skincare business and loved how the mask felt. The lunch was excellent as well. You have options to choose between chicken, fish and a seafood salad similar to a ceviche. Everything looked great. The seafood salad was wonderful, portions were very generous and the staff were great. It would have been awesome to have a combo option offered because everything sounded great. Drinks are extra so I would have appreciated even a lemonade option included. One thought several of us had is that the town we stopped in for the mud baths off the boat was so cute that it would have been really lovely if lunch were arranged there so we could eat with the beautiful turquoise blue views. Next to seeing the actual pink Lakes my favorite part of the day was the final stop at the crocodile farm and getting to see the baby crocodiles hatch. That was unbelievable! One of the coolest things I've ever seen! And I loved that they were encouraging of people taking photos and videos throughout the day. Really an exceptional experience all around. My only suggestion would be to add a little element of fun to the bus ride, a few stories about the area and perhaps some music. People mostly kept to themselves, there was no music or entertainment or storytelling on the ride which made 4 hours feel very long. I would also love if they would incorporate even one midway stop at some sort of a convenience store for people to stretch their legs and buy snacks or drinks. Thankfully there were a few other singles on the trip and we made friends which was great. I definitely recommend this tour hands down, just make sure you have music or something to entertain yourself. By the way we did great at avoiding mosquitoes all day until the crocodile farm. Thankfully Delfin was kind enough to smack them off of me but I do recommend the spray because they were pretty obnoxious there. It was still well worth it because the whole experience was just so memorable! This definitely makes it to the top two most beautiful places I've ever visited. I might even say the top if it weren't so crowded. Just letting in so many big groups at a time distracted from getting to really enjoy the serenity of it all and I would have loved some private time just to sit, look out over the water and journal or think. You get about 30 minutes inside the Pink Lake with the group and I definitely did not want to miss out on any of the wonderful photo opps. You literally walk two feet over and the view is completely different. It's like magic on Earth!
Although a bit far from Cancun, the pink lake is really nice and worth visiting, especially with yesterday's perfect clear sky. Also the boat ride is really interesting and crocs and pink flamingoes are enjoying themselves in such comfortable clear water. Hugging and feeding baby crocs are much easier than expected. In summary, with good arrangements and nice people, we have a very happy day.
This tour was a nice break from the beach routine. Las Coloradas looked unreal in person and Rio Lagartos felt quiet and natural compared with Cancun. Angel kept our small group relaxed and the boat part was our favorite. We made a great photo album with the best pics from the trip. The Yucatan definitely deserves all our appreciation. It felt like the kind of place most people miss when the only stay near the hotel.
We visited the famous Las Coloradas lakes, which are seriously pink! The boat trip through the Rio Lagarto mangroves was incredible. We saw so many animals, like stepping into a wildlife documentary! We finished the day with a mud bath. Plus the mud is supposed to be amazing for your skin... This tour was well worth the money... transportation was comfortable and the food was delicious.
If you are picked up in Cancun, the tour stops at Playa del Carmen on the way there and back. Since a single bus covers both departure points, those starting from Cancun end up wasting four hours on the road round trip. This tour is absolutely terrible for those staying in Cancun. Time is precious when traveling.
This tour to Las Coloradas and Rio Lagartos was absolutely worth the price and long day. We booked it already knowing it would be a full schedule, so we went in prepared for an early start and plenty of driving. Honestly, that mindset helped because what we saw made it all worthwhile. The whole area has a very unique atmosphere. Las Coloradas really stands out in person and Rio Lagartos added a completely different side of the experience with its wildlife and scenery. It felt like visiting places that still have their own character, far from the usual tourist spots. Guide Angel (and our captain) kept everything running OK, shared interesting facts and speech along the way and gave the trip a relaxed enjoyable feel. We got back with a long list of photos and the feeling that we had seen a side of the Yucatan many travelers miss.
We're the kind of couple that doesn't mind a long drive as long as the experience delivers and this one definitely did. Las Coloradas is actually a working salt production site which made it even more interesting. Our guide Manual explained how everything works, including how sunlight and microorganisms create those famous pink tones. Not every pool is bright pink, but that didn't take away from howw unique the place feels. We also heard a fun story about pirates once visiting the area. The group wasn't crowded, everything ran on schedule and there were little surprises along the way that made the day feel even more special. Hard to fit it all into one review. Rio Lagartos was a highlight. We expected to see flamingos and maybe a few reptiles, but it turned out to be so much more. At the point, I even fed a pelican mid-flight! Which was incredible. The whole area feels untouched and full of life. Pickup, meals, drinks, guides and the boat ride were all taken care of, with just a small conservation fee paid on site. Very well organized. Tourballoon Travel is an easy recommendation.
The trip was long but the sight seeing is very beautiful. There's a bit of confusion about the order of activities. Otherwise, the food was very nice.
The entire trip was memorable and unique. Though it was a bit far from Playa del Carmen, I think it's worth the journey. The color of the salt lakes were breathtaking -- I've never seen anything like it! Also the entire Rio Logartos boat ride was beautiful. I went solo and felt safe - the tour guides were attentive and explained things in both Spanish and English. 10/10 would recommend!
We planned this tour for the last day of our trip to Mexico and it turned out to be the perfect way to wrap everything up. Las Coloradas and Rio Lagartos are great for all ages. We actually did it while celebrating my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary, which made the whole day even more special. You should be prepared for a full-day travel, but also with the mindset that what you'll see will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so it's totally worth it. The tour's pace isn't rushed, the atmosphere is friendly, entertaining and relaxed. Our guide "Felipe" deserves all the stars. Entrance fees are included, the staff is lovely and very professional.
The tour guide Genner was excellent, just the right balance of being friendly enough without talking at us for ages, he was very helpful throughout, a very good guide and host who made the effort to learn our names right away. Great Day out, the Pink Lakes were amazing, the boat ride was excellent fun, loved the Pelicans sitting on the side of the boat, and of course the Crocodiles were fab. Can highly recommend this brilliant day out.
Great tour! Very well organised, everything as expected. The drive is long (2h45mins) but it's worth it and the van is very comfortable. Definitely recommended!
We really enjoyed the pink lakes, river tour and local restaurant for lunch. The lakes were very unique and I’d never seen anything like them. To note: at the lakes you are only allowed to look at them and take photos. There is nothing else there. The river tour was fun and we saw numerous birds and a few crocodiles. We enjoyed the short swim at the end to cool off before lunch. The local restaurant was delicious and had good drinks. There were showers to wash up and change after swimming. Dislikes: The day is very long and we could have done without the crocodile farm visit at the end. It is a very long drive. We were expecting a tour bus but instead had a crowded van with poor suspension. Roads are extremely bumpy and you felt even single one. The van also seemed to operas some type of taxi/courier service as we were picking up and dropping off people who were not part of the tour throughout the experience and there were several stops at businesses were the guide was picking up or dropping off items. This seemed to add at least an additional two hours to the already 12 hour day we expected. We were picked up at 6am and do not return till after 8pm. It was just way too much time spent driving.
The colors here are unreal! We were lucky to have a perfect weather with a super sunny day, which made the pink water look absolutely electric. It's a long full-day trip, but 100% worth it. The best part was the setup, instead of a crowded ferry, we were in small boats (just us and a few others), which felt like a VIP tour. Our guide Mateo was awesome, explained us all the interesting facts behind the salt process, the color of the water and the kind of wildlife besides crocs and flamingos. We loved the clay bath. If you love the nature an real unique places, you have to do this!
We started the day with a nice vibe on the bus. Some people were lazy, others were chatting and paying attention to the landscape. By the time we got to Las Coloradas, everyone was awake and excited. The pink salt flats are way bigger than we thought they'd be. The color changes depending on the light and I probably took like 50 photos. The boat ride through Rio Lagator was honestly the best part. Our captain Miguel told us to be quiet when we got close to the flamingos. Everyone stopped talking and just watched them. There were a ton of them and they were really close. It was pretty amazing. The whole day was well organized. We went from the pink lakes to the boat ride through the mangroves without any issues. The tour company had good timing. Would definitely recommend this tour if you're staying in Cancun.
We consider these dates among the best for traveling to Playa del Carmen and after doing Las Coloradas and Rio Lagartos, we took them off our list of "sites to visit in Mexico". We thought it would be a fascinating tour and we had a general idea of what to expect from reviews, but the actual experience went way beyond that. It's not just pink water and crocodiles. The whole area feels quit and open and the boat part was especially peaceful. Our group wasn't huge, which helped keep the vide calm, David our guide and Abelardo our captain, kept everything easy to follow without over-talking. It ended up feeling almost therapeutic, like a break from noise and screens. There's nothing else like it.
Las Coloradas and Rio Lagartos were the highlights of our visit to Cancun. The journey became fun when we traveled with a guide as charismatic as David. The all-day trip was great! We saw many interesting sights along the way, including colonial haciendas and agave plantations. We learned that agave is used to make tequila. We also saw villages with modern Mayan communities. At the site, it feels like being in heaven. We were told these are the best times to see pools with their fantastic pink color. The boat tour is amazing. We witnessed a band of curious raccoons flooding the shore. They show up looking for fish and aren't scare of people! We did the Mayan clay bath and learned an interesting fact: The same white clay from Rio Lagartos is used or imported by spas in the USA and Europe for exfoliating massages and sold at high prices. This activity includes all entrance fees, you only pay a small on-site tax. The food is delicious and you travel in a van with a relatively small group. An absolutely must-do!
It is a 5 hour drive from Cancun but it is well worth it. Our tour guide Arturo was amazing. It was definitely a fun filled day.
This is by far the best tour in our opinion worth every dollar for the tour that is made. It is a very long day but it is filled with activities the entire time. Mauricio was amazing and funny as a guide.
We literally reached paradise, from Vancouver to Cancun. Our first activity was this tour to Las Coloradas and Rio Lagartos, the experience was by far wonderful. The full day trip was well worth it. The time we had on each spot was just right, no more, no less. Our guide Jose provided lots of interesting information at each location. For me, the most interesting fact was learning that the whole places are an ecological reserve and that it's strictly protected. We traveled safely, without any issues, in a group of no more than 20 people. There's a small federal preservation tax, other than that, everything is included. Tourballoon highly recommended!
My 18 year old and I went on this trip and we were both had so much fun! Bus ride is long but the seats are cushioned, reclining and comfy for sleeping. Honestly everything went so smoothly. Pink lake was so pretty and boat ride was the best part. Good lunch but the sandwich they gave us for the bus was seriously nasty. Make sure you packs some snacks, water and have you hotel pack you a sandwhich. Our bus driver and guide were so nice. Don't forget tip for the boat driver, bus driver and tour guide. They deserve it! GREAT EXCURSION!
We fell in love with this experience. Seeing the day stretch from sunrise to sunset was a long journey, but every moment was worth it. The preservation of the area is remarkable. It truly feels like an untouched sanctuary. We really appreciated that the groups were split into small boats, sharing the ride with just seven others an our guide and captain "David", made it feel intimate. He explained fascinating details like how the ancient mayas used the white clay for camouflage and protection and we were lucky to have a sunny day which made the pink water look incredibly vibrant. This activity includes all but a small tax at Las Coloradas pink waters. 100% recommended!
Even though I was initially worried about the long distance, I'm so accessible and glad my husband convinced me to take this trip. It turned out to be a wonderful experience. Jose, our guide and another Jose (our captain), made the time fly by. We learned that swimming is not allowed to protect the pink lakes, but simply seeing them is beautiful. However we took the relaxing Mayan bath. The highlight for us was the boat ride (we were 8 people on the boat) in Rio Lagarto where we saw so many animals besides crocodiles and flamingos. Tickets are included in this full day trip. Absolutely recommended.
The pink lake is otherworldly. We had the best guide at the lake that took cool pics for us. Our small group was so much fun.
Overall a good tour, nice stops, smaller group (21 people). Highlight was the stop at the Crocodile Farm and the River Tour! Really really great! The pink Salt Lakes are totally overrated and not worth the Price. Here is why I can‘t give 5 stars: - booked English Tour, no English was available at the Pink Salt Lakes and on the Bootstour and even on the crocodile Farm we had to ask the guide if he would translate the feeding instructions in English for us! - The Guide (Dolphin) was really hard to unterstand due to the mix. Three sentences in Spanish ten words in English, again Spanish. We had also the feeling that he was saying much more in Spanish then in English. Overall I was really happy when we had some time off from him in the boat, he was really over the top Like an actor in a bad made Comedy. - Super annoying music during the Bus Tour and the guide was singing to the music, when the entire Bus is trying to sleep - We waited After the Pick-up in the Morning over one hour until the next Bus was coming! No Communication! When we asked after an hour they told us there was an accident on the road and the Bus is stuck in Traffic. Can happen - but why no Communication even when so many drivers were around???
We booked the two-day package for Chichen Itza and Las Coloradas & Rio Lagatros and were very pleased. It was a wonderful way to see two of Mexico's most iconic places for a great price. The amazing boat ride in Rio Lagartos and all kind of wild like from the zone was lovely. We traveled on a comfortable Van with AC on a group of 11 people, really nice. We have nothing but good things to say! Great thanks to Miguel and Anna, they were very attentive and helpful.
The excursions themselves were absolutely incredible. The local companies running these parts were professional, knowledgeable, and delivered a 10/10 experience. I have nothing but praise for their service and quality. However, these are independent providers, and not the company who organized and transported us throughout the day — and that’s where the problems begin. On the way to the tour, we were pulled over by immigration. While this wasn’t the tour company’s fault, it would’ve been helpful if the company had clearly advised to bring ID beforehand. Luckily, we had digital copies of our passports on our phone. This caused a delay in time due to a lady being questioned which actually led her to not being allowed to continue. At the pink lake, we were rushed straight from the tour into changing for the next activity. It was 46°C and we weren't even given 15 minutes to cool down, or asked if we would like to grab a drink or browse the shop before changing and departing for the next activity. I would have loved the chance to support the business directly in the shop they have. On the way to the next stop, we were given a single warm 500ml bottle of water, which was simply not enough given the extreme temperatures and lack of air circulation in the van. On the site it states you get one bottle of water and you can purchase more, however you can only purchase drinks at the restaurant later in the day around 4pm. At the restaurant the showers were not hygienic and there was no soap available. A heads-up on this detail via the booking website would have allowed us to bring our own. The restaurant and food was otherwise great with delicious food and great selection of drinks. However, yet again, we were rushed out immediately after eating — no time for a second drink, no toilet break offered. It felt unnecessarily hurried. The biggest and most serious issue was our transport back to the hotel. We were placed into a white van (license plate: 95-RB-6X) that had no seatbelts. Shortly after setting off, the driver performed an emergency brake, causing multiple passengers — including myself — to be thrown from their seats. An elderly woman fell to the floor due to the lack of seatbelts, and even worse, the middle row of seats wasn’t secured to the floor of the van. When the driver braked, the entire row of seats shifted, pushing my partner into the back of the front seats and crushing both her and the woman next to her against them. To get out, the loose seats had to be pulled back manually, and metal poles were being moved from somewhere — presumably an attempt to hold the seats in place before the journey began. The woman next to my partner injured her knees and was only taken to a doctor after we refused to get back into the same dangerous, unstable, and likely illegal vehicle. It was an incredibly unsafe and unnecessarily stressful situation. Final Thoughts: The individual excursions and local providers: 10/10 The company organizing the tour and transportation: 2/10 I highly recommend visiting these locations — just NOT with this tour company. The poor and dangerous transportation tainted what could have been a perfect day.
We were on the fence about this one because of the long drive, especially with gradma coming along. But it was totally worth it. Our guide, Marcelino made the trip easyy and stress-free. Honestly,, we got some of our best family pictures from our entire trip to Mexico on this tour, at the pink lake, on the boat and doing the mood bath thing. A really beautiful day.
Overall grest tip. The transport was on time, and we were first taken by van to meet the main tour bus at a petrol station with a short 5 min wait. Just a note – the main tour bus was quite small and can feel cramped with 12 people so it’s worth choosing your seat carefully. The Pink Lakes were stunning, followed by a really enjoyable boat ride where we spotted alligators, pelicans, flamingos, and the beautiful mangroves. We also got to try a Mayan scrub, had a generous sized lunch, and visited a crocodile farm. It really packed in a lot of activities and felt like good value for money. Be aware that there’s the extra Salt Lake tax to pay, and it seems to fluctuate depending on the day or who’s collecting it. Overall, it was a long but memorable day – and recommend it for the unique experience.
This was an awesome day trip, made exceptional by the incredible team. I hadn't feeling well since the night before and the boat ride made me nauseous. Our guide "Miguel", went completely out of his way to find a pharmacy for motion sickness pills. His kindness was extraordinary. Beyond that, the sights were wonderful, the van was comfortable so the food. We will definitely book with them again.
Yeah, this was a good trip. The organization was on point and the bus was comfy and clean, which was nice for the long drive. Our guide Mike and the driver Ernesto were great, no complaints there. Honestly, it's worth the money. If you want to see the pink lakes without any hassle, this is a solid choice.
Would go again beautiful experience minus the food. I suggest bring your own lunch!! But Never have I seen anything like this. Long day but worth every penny!
The company provided excellent support, including airport transfers and local guides. The drivers were punctual and professional, and courteous . I particularly appreciated the assistance with our boat ride , taking great pictures and the provision of contact details for each stop." I would recommend this excursion for all those who need an exceptional experience.
What a surreal and vibrant tour! The pink lakes are tryly an unbelievable sight. Our guide Miguel made the local salt process a fascinating story. The highlight was the water safari through Rio Lagartos, seeing crocodiles, beautiful birds and those amazing flamingos up close. A fantastic trip!
Imagine this for a perfect day: Your boat driver is making you laugh while pointing out incredible, wild flamingos. You're gliding through the mandroves of Rio Lagartos, spotting crocodiles in their natural habitat. Next, you're standing beside a lake that's a shocking shade of pink, taking the most surreal photos of your life. The whole time, you're traveling comfy with your group of best friends and a fresh seafood lunch is all taken care of. THAT WAS OUR DAY! An unforgettable adventure!
We booked this tour after watching a video on Youtube and it was exactly what we expected... Maybe even better. The place is legit, no doubt. We got some of the best pics from our whole trip. Our guide Miguel was awesome and super helpful. Definitely worth it, don't skip this one!
Traveling all the way from abroad, we figured a bit more distance for this experience was totally worth it. Every stop amazed us. From the vibrant colors of Las Coloradas to the peaceful vibe in Rio Lagartos. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Mexico. Special thanks to Carlos, our charismatic guide!
I'm a solo nomad woman and had this saved for over a year. Finally went for it and sincerely, Ive never seen anything like that pink paradise. The boat ride, all fauna (flamingos, crocodiles, raccoons, pelicans), the clay bath and the beach stop were pure magic. Miguel was the best guide. Advise: Don't try doing this on your own, you'd need three buses. This experience is only for those who truly want it. Bring snacks and pesos. A totally GO!
More than just a tourist thing, it's honestly and adventure... and we loved it! The drive to Rio Lagartos and Las Coloradas is definitely long, but it's worth it. The pink waters are real, and the boat ride totally stole the show. If you're up for something different, don't skip this one!
We had such a fun and unforgettable day! Marcelino, our guide, was full of energy and made everyone feel welcome right away. He kept things flowing, made us laugh and really knew how to keep the group engaged. Seeing crocs up close was insane. I necer thought I'd actually touch one! They made sure we had cold water all day, which was amazing under the sun. And splashing in Rio Lagartos lake was exactly what we needed to end the day. I've already told friends and family about this tour. Tourballoon absolutely nailed it. I'm booking with them for sure!
Isidro was very informative and helpful on our tour of Las Coloradas, Rio Lagarto and Granja de Coodrilo, and the tour bus was comfy and clean. We also really enjoyed the food. 5 stars all the way!
Omgee, this was so much fun. From the pink salt to the flamingos to the crocodiles, the trip was fun and beautiful. AGIE OUR guide was sensational. Personal able, fun, and knowledgeable about ll of thee sites. I enjoyed the lagoons and the boat ride to the flamingos.
David is the most accommodating driver/guide. He is very friendly, knowledgeable person with a good sense of humor. He kept the group on time and had so much fantastic information to share. I got some great photos of the pink lagoons and loved seeing the flamingos. I touched a crocodile! Yikes! So much fun though! Highly recommended!
I had the most incredible experience visiting Las Coloradas, all thanks to the amazing team at Tourballon Travel Experiences. From the very beginning, everything was perfectly organized — the communication was clear, the itinerary was thoughtfully planned, and every detail was handled with such care. I highly recommend it
What a day! Just wrapping up and not even back to the Airbnb yet, but had to drop a review. Did the tour to Los Coloradas and Rio Lagartos with guide Jenner and driver Manassis—both were great! The pink lakes at Los Coloradas were super pretty (and windy!)—definitely more of a quick photo stop, but still worth seeing. Then we headed to Rio Lagartos for a boat ride, and that was the real highlight for me. I actually took my shoes off and stepped into the water and mud to get a better (though still far) view of flamingos—totally worth it. We also spotted a couple of crocodiles which was wild! Just a heads-up: plan on getting wet and muddy here, so pack extra clothes or a towel (maybe extra shoes depending on what you are wearing). We wrapped up at a crocodile farm (yep, actual crocs!), which was a cool way to end the day. Logistics were smooth—started with a small bus that connected us to the larger bus for the rest of the trip. It’s about 3 hours each way from Cancun, so definitely a long day, but the bus had outlets for charging which helped. Overall, it was easy, informative, and a great experience if you're up for a bit of adventure!
Okay, seriously, highlight of our Cancun trip, hands down! My partner and I felt like legit explorers ditching the crowds. Las Coloradas just blew our minds. The pink is WILD, it matches the pics! Then the Rio Lagartos boat trip... pure chill, just watching flocks of flamingos strutting like supermodels and sneaky crocks lounging around. It was like discovering a hidden world. Our guide was amazing too! Yeah, it's a trek, but 1000% worth it for this unique slice of real Mexico. Made awesome memories!
We departed from Playa del Carmen. However, the distance was relaxing for us, we enjoyed the ride. We were close to missing the bus but the staff was patient and helped us out. Once on board, the AC saved our day. Miguel rocks! he's the best guide. The Landscapes in Rio Lagartos and Las Coloradas are unreal. It's just incredible to get immersed in a completely different scenario, like stepping into a surreal painting. Totally worth the early wake up!
This tour was a total surprise in the best way! Las Coloradas doesn't look real at first, like pink water? But yep, it's legit and super photogenic. Our guide explained us that since this is a salt processing farm, each pond has a different salt density and different amounts of grown microorganisms which make the pink color of the water. So interesting! That's why not all the site is completely pink, however is so interesting! Rio Lagarto felt like stepping into a wild side of Yucatan with flamingos, crocodiles and that super salty mud that makes your skin feel brand new. It's a bit of a ride to get there, but totally worth every mile. Bring a towel and your camera, you'll use bot a lot.
