Kayaking the Nichupte lagoon was definitely the highlight of our trip to Cancun. It’s an incredible experience to glide through the mangroves in those pristine waters. Our tour guide Axel was amazing, I highly recommend asking for him to be your guide. He taught us so much about the flora and fauna found in the lagoon. What a special place! Axel hour guide was really attentive and gave us a lot of information as we travelled. Lovely experience would recommend.
Senor Axel was an amazing and knowledgeable guide! He showed us the stunning mangrove caves and we felt safe the entire time!
This was an amazing experience! All of us were beginners in kayaking, and our tour guide was very patient with us throughout the whole experience. Everyone was extremely nice and they even gave us a little snack after we were done kayaking. We took the 5:30am tour and we loved it. Got to see the sunrise and some cool animals. Highly recommend (:
We had a wonderful trip with Wayac Tours in Cancun, visiting Nuchupte lagoon. Axel was a great guide. The kayaks were excellent and the location was a tranquil nature reserve out of sight of the built up hotel strip. I loved the bird life, Frigate birds, cormorants, herons and lots more.
An excellent activity on a guided paddle through the mangroves. Saw lots of fish, including six rays and good birdlife. The guide was knowledgeable and at no time sought to rush us through the excursion. Definitely the best trip of our visit to Cancun
Need insect repellant. Would be appropriate to wear swim wear as will get wet. Fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. Spoke good English. Relaxed and did not rush you around. Fantastic experience!!!!
This is a sad review to have to write, but Gaby at Wayak Tours stole $420 from us. This is not just a bad experience; it is a safety issue and it is a crime. We arrived on time, and had arranged with Gaby to store our luggage in a locker for $125 MXN. We decided this would be more affordable than what we’d originally planned, which was to drop our bags off at our airbnb and then go to the meeting point for kayaking. Gaby then offered to drive us to downtown Cancun after our kayak tour for another $250 MXN, which would be cheaper than an uber, so we said yes. Then she said we should store our bags in Axel’s car instead. We asked if it was safe and she assured us it was. Nonetheless, out of caution, I took a quick video and photo of Axel bringing my boyfriend’s suitcase to the car and of his license plate. My boyfriend needed to change his clothes and I was a little anxious about timing. At that point, Gaby asked if we were paying with cash or credit. Here’s where it got messy. I admit that in my mind at that moment, I may have had an early senior moment and mixed up the kayak tour, which I’d already paid $76 USD for on Trip Advisor, with a day-long tour to Chichen Itza we had planned for the next day, which was AWESOME and totally worth it, which was going to cost us $420 total in cash. Because I felt rushed and anxious, I told my boyfriend, “It’s $420.” He thought for a moment that I had just crazily booked a really overpriced kayak ride, but he rolled with it and he literally COUNTED OUT $420 USD TWICE in front of Axel and Gaby, who was watching, then handed it to Gaby, who took it and said nothing. We then had our kayak ride, which was fine, even though the photos are some of the worst photos I’ve ever seen. Then Axel drove us to downtown Cancun, with Gaby in the passenger seat. When we got to our airbnb, I asked Gaby about payment for the car ride, and she said not to worry about it, which was weird since she’d quoted us $250 MXN earlier. When we got inside and began to think of the next day, I suddenly realized my huge mistake. I started texting and calling Gaby on WhatsApp repeatedly and she was ignoring me. It was soon enough that they would have only driven 5-10 minutes away and could have turned back. I then noticed that she had gone back and DELETED WhatsApp messages (see attached message) that said the $125 was in MXN - and I now think this was in an effort to cover up stealing from us. There’s no way she thought we were giving them over a $300 tip in USD for a $76 tour. She finally answered and said I was confused and we’d only given her $20 USD for “a locker and a dry bag.” (See photo.) We had not used a locker since we put our stuff in Axel’s car (see photos) and we had not rented a dry bag because I had my own (pictured here.) Gaby had even commented that she liked it and had never seen a white dry bag before. I wrote back saying this was not true, and she may have been making a mistake herself (trying to still give her the opportunity to do the right thing.) I even said she could send $360 and consider the rest a tip. She ignored all my further messages. I then contacted Wayak, whose website is fake and doesn’t even exist, through Trip Advisor. They also insisted I had rented a locker (clearly not) and went so far as to say that if Axel offered us a ride and we accepted it, that was our choice - when Gaby was the one who said they offered a ride service for a fee. Then we contacted Trip Advisor, who escalated our investigation. They contacted the company and got back to me saying they could not secure a refund. I don’t want a refund. I want the $420 that was stolen. Trip Advisor will be refunding me the $76, they said. But that is not nearly enough to cover the theft by a company Trip Advisor is “advising.” They are responsible for the unethical behavior of the companies they vouch for. Gaby knows what she did and that’s why she started deleting WhatsApp messages and ignoring me. I don’t know if Axel knows, and I honestly hope he doesn’t, but if he does, he’s complicit, too. We will be contacting the Mexican police to file a report of theft, and if Wayak or Trip Advisor does not return our $420, we will be pursuing legal action against them.
I was my last day in Cancun and I just needed to fill the afternoon with some activity. I found this randomly and I'm glad that I did. Communications with Gabby was great! Alex is super friendly and fun. The trip lasted less that 3 hours. Yes my muscles 💪 are sore but I'm brain is happy and full of good memories!
This was worth every penny. What an incredible experience. If you can wake up early to watch the sunrise on the kayaks, I would highly recommend doing so! Our guide was Axel, he was wonderful! He was very funny, helpful, kind, and knowledgeable, and he was very easy to understand. We asked him for restaurant recommendations and he gave us a few incredible places! Axel also took many wonderful pictures for us with the waterproof camera he brought along. He told us many facts about the lagoon and showed us a few distinct places. There were termite nests, quicksand, and a really narrow place through the mangroves you had to use the branches to move. Axel also kept a great pace and is patient if you get tired. Also, Gaby helped us get set up with the kayaks and communicated very well with us. She answered every text quickly, and let us know the night before all the details for where to meet and she answered every question we had. It was amazing to wake up with the rest of the city and all of the animals that live in the lagoon. You’re super close to the hotel zone too so if you do the early morning kayak you can get to the beach by around 8 and get the best spot. This experience set us up for the rest of the day to have a great time, so we would definitely recommend. We brought mosquito repellent and that made the experience even better. Thank you again Axel and Gina!!!
I missed the tour because I arrived late, that was totally my fault. I asked if they could put me on for the one at 4pm instead, but they insisted on charging a reschedule fee of 25USD (which is over 60% of the original ticket price). Even though I could have paid it, I found it to be somewhat insulting to charge such a high rescheduling fee (it was an honest mistake which I took full responsibility for). So, for my own self respect, I decided not to go. Sorry I cannot give insight into the actual tour itself.
Fantastic time on the Kayak in the mangroves. I went with my sister and we both really enjoyed this experience. I especially liked seeing the unique herons and other aquatic wildlife. Axl was an excellent guide and was engaging.
We were unsure about kayaking in the beginning. But oncr we reached there Axel really created a calm and relaxed environment for us to enjoy. He took multiple pictures provided us best navigation and information about the area and animals. 10/10 recommended. Axel you did an amazing Job and we will definitely remember this activity till our end of the days :)
Great kayaking tour in the lagoon! We went at 4pm and had the tour, and most of the lagoon, to ourselves. Easy to find, easy to book, and we had an awesome time with our guide Axl. Photos, water, and snack provided for free. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to spend a few hours on calm water!
The experience was awesome! The Axl our guide was so friendly to tell us about the Cancun and the course was fascinating too. 이 투어는 정말 가치있는 투어입니다. 저희 가이드 악셀은 정말 친절하고 3시간이 후딱지나갔네요. 칸쿤 오시면 꼭 하시기를 추천드려요.
I had an amazing experience doing this kayak tour! Axel was a great guide, very knowledgeable and pleasant. I also appreciated that even though I was the only person booked for that time slot, they didn’t cancel or try to move me around. Ended up getting a private tour! I would recommend to anyone! It was more than worth it!
This tour was the best thing that happened to me in Mexico. The nature, the length of the route, and the route itself were all perfect. Special thanks to the organizers — the guide was polite but not distant, and the cold water and bananas were a nice touch. Everything was just right. I absolutely recommend this tour — a real must-have!
Our group of five (ages 8 to 63) had a wonderful time on this tour. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about the mangroves and the different species of wildlife that live there. His English was very good and easy to understand. We had fun paddling both in some of the larger water and then also through small channels in the mangroves. It was the perfect way to spend an evening.
Fun time spent on the water learning about the environment and ecosystem in the Cancun area. Definitely wear and bring extra mosquito repellent. And bring some binoculars! Highly recommend. Also bring a dry bag with you to keep your items dry and save you on the money for renting one it’s not worth it!
Friendly and approachable organiser and instructor, and a really fun activity to do as a group. Everything ran smoothly on the day and we had a great time on the water. It would have been helpful to receive a confirmation the day before with details on what to bring, but overall it was a very enjoyable experience and well run.
Alejandro, our guide was awesome! Mangrove was beautiful and peaceful. Went Saw: white herons, blue herons, pelicans, crabs, puffer fish, bericuda. Great price for 2 hour tour. Had difficulty finding the address, but our taxi driver helped call. The entrance isn't well marked, but it is indeed beneath a bridge per the directions on the ticket. Local help was appreciated. You will get wet, wear appropriate clothing and bring a towel for tour public transit ride. Bring cash for tipping.
What a beautiful experience with my Family. Are instructor was very nice and told us a lot about the nature around us. Beautiful waters and very cool little side water trails he took us on. Would definitely recommend this tour .
Our guide was so fun and really had a good time interacting with him. The mangrove canals were so gorgeous. Highly recommend this tour. Great communication. And if you think you will not get wet, think again. Would do this again.
Gabby and Axl where top notch. The communication before was super helpful and they answered all my questions. The meeting spot was easy to find. The walk down to the water was a wooden boardwalk that was easily navigated by my mom in a walker. Axl helped my handicapped 70 year old mom, my 5 year old nephew and everyone in between. The first stretch to the mangroves was not very fun and full of boat traffic (our tour was 4pm). Once inside the quieter part it was nice. Lots of bugs, put on spray in advance! We say some cool birds and interesting fish and the trip back was in amazing golden hour light with the sunset. I wouldn't say this is an "easy" tour and you should have some level of physical fitness to do this paddle. If you have that I would highly recommend.
Review in Czech below / česká verze dole We took a tour at 4 pm and it was great. It is a guided tour for about 2.5 hour. Both Gaby - handling the logistic and Axel, our guide were very friendly and helpful. Axel took pictures of us during the trip and they were later e mailed to us, nice little extra. They also offer a snack (banana) and water at the midpoint. Axel told us a lot of interesting things. We truly enjoyed and would highly recommend. Hezký a uklidňující zážitek. Velmi kvalitní a přátelský personál. Náš průvodce Axel nám vyfotí několik fotek, které jsme potom dostali e mailem. Hezká maličkost, která potěšila. Asi 2.5 hodinová cesta po laguně, Axel nám sdělil spoustu zajímavých věcí. V půlce čety nám byl nabídnut banán a voda. Velice přijatelná cena, velmi doporučujeme.
Very nice tour of the lagoon, Alex was our tour guide and had a wrath of knowledge about the plant and animal life of the lagoon! The guide was very attentive. Gabby was the fixer that gave us all the information and n how to arrive. Both were great, will be back! Nice arm workout but not too difficult.
Did the 8AM tour, nice, peaceful, and safe tour with Axel, who was knowledgeable and informative about the flora and fauna surrounding us. Going through the mangroves was a unique experience. Enjoyed seeing birds, fish, termite homes, and cruising through the lagoon.
Axel was a great guide and took us through a a really cool series of channels and mangrove forests. My partner was a little slower, so he waited and helped her while he let me paddle on ahead. The mangroves were really peaceful, exactly what we needed after a really exhausting series of parties the previous days!
Axel was very engaging and informative. We learned a lot about the mangroves and had a great experience kayaking through the lagoon.
It was such a fun experience, especially if you’re from a city/suburban area. You get to see this huge beautiful lagoon on a kayak at your own pace. We got lucky, it was just my friend and I for the 4 pm tour. It was surreal cause at times we had the lagoon all to ourselves. Lots of birds to see, little crabs, fishes. Nature! The meeting point was a little hard for us to find, so get there a little early so you have time to figure out where to go. You can also call your point of contact for help. We loved it!
This was a nice tour. I would recommend going in morning or evening so you can see more wildlife. Axel our tour guide was excellent.
Peaceful kayaking through the Mangroves with a knowledgeable guide. Highly recommend! We also cool birds like pelicans and albatross posing for us.
My boyfriend, Jim, and I had the most incredible time kayaking in the lagoon! It was great because we were the only 2 on that specific tour; so we got a private tour. Axel was an incredible tour guide! He was so informative about nature and animals and such and answered all of our questions; he was extremely knowledgeable. He went at our pace and would stop so he could take pictures of us, and we could take pictures of different things. It was just so chill and cool; definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Going through the narrow mangroves was super cool! You definitely want to wear swimming attire, as you will get wet. Axel and Gabby were very professional and helpful. It was absolutely worth it and the price was very reasonable!
If possible to give a more negative rating I would. We tried to cancel due to high winds and the tour operator wouldn't accept our cancellation request, even though it was before the deadline to cancel. When we showed up the next day at the appointed place, there was no signage or tour group there. The launch site seems to be at a local dock and swimming hole, however none of the people swimming there knew about kayak tours. When we inquired about the tour at the hotel, which is 50 yards away, they had no indication of when the people show up. We waited around past the appointed launch time and they never showed. When contacted after wards they were very defensive and confrontational. We are looking at ways to recover our money as we pre booked. It was the only disappointing experience in an otherwise great Mexican vacation.
Fantastic time on the water! Our guide, axel was kind and informative about the birds, trees, sealife, and the lake in general. Very nicely paced, great little snack and water half-way. Overall, excellent experience... well worth the price!
The guide Axle was very good and informative. Gaby and Axle were so nice! It was a great experience going through the mangroves!!
Really enjoyed my tour! Axel was an excellent guide, both very friendly and knowledgeable. It was a nice way to experience a different side of Cancun by spending time in nature. Would definitely recommend!
It was fun to see some nature and paddle through the mangroves. You don't see much wildlife, just mangroves the whole time. The kayaks were pretty nice, though you do get a little wet, but that felt nice since there's not much shade. The wind and the currents were sometimes a little strong. Our guide was nice and told us some interesting facts and knew some cool paths so we didn't get lost. He also took some photos of us. We paddled at a pretty leisurely pace and could take breaks at any time.
Very enjoyable paddling around and literally through the mangroves and seeing wildlife up close. Cancun kayak fun for sure.
Wonderful time in the Kayaks. Axel does a nice job explaining the mangroves and its habitat. Really enjoyed our time on the water!
An excellent kayak ride with Axel around the mangrove forest near Cancun. Alex went at a leisurely pace, so it should be comfortable for people with various levels of kayak experience.
You get wet!! Guide was informative. Kayak was used and the setbacks were not straight. We are still waiting for our pictures.
Excellent service and super cool experience. GPS problems had us show up 15 minutes late and miss our designated tour, but the team was super helpful and for an extra $20 called in another guide and took the three of us on a private tour that exceeded all expectations. Axel was an amazing guide and was super knowledgeable about the plant and animal life we encountered, and was happy to match the tour to our ability, at one point saying "you guys seem comfortable, want to go somewhere harder?" Definitely got wet so recommend wearing a bathing suit, but the tour was an absolute blast and would recommend to anyone who wants to see this awesome ecosystem up close
Guide was great. It was a fun trip. Getting there was a bit tricky for me who doesn't know the city but we made it just fine. I'd suggest to the operator to drop a pin on a map and send it with the confirmation.
Great experience! Our guide was very patient and knowledgeable. It was quite a long and tiring track considering it was my first time at kayaking but totally worth the effort, considering the flora and fauna we discovered. The mangrove forests are breathtaking and i highly recommend booking the 16h00 slot, the sunset was epic! Thank you so much for making our trip to cancun so memorable!
Had a great time kayaking through the mangroves and in the lagoon. We were the slowest kayak in our tour, but they did a great job of taking some breaks to let us catch up with the others. The scenery and the birds add to this adventure.
Highly recommend this company, very responsive. I asked to reschedule and they were fine with it. And they didn't cancel the tour since I was the only one that session. Axel knows a lot and he is a really good tour guide.
We had a great time exploring the mangroves around the langoon lead by a pleasant guide with stories and knowledge of the area.
Super experience Gaby was great and our guide Axel was amazing went out of his way to explain everything and talk to us about the area and experiences we seen. Highly rated wouldn’t miss it
Great guide. Great experience all around! Seen jellyfish, stingrays, heron, many fish, pufferfish. Would definitely recommend
