What with a mixup in registration and being held hostage at a tequila tasting, this was a subpar experience from start to finish. The water was murky and the reef in very sad shape, although you can’t change the weather and the currents nor the impact man has done to the reef. The guide seemed to think getting through the water trail quickly was more important than going slowly and letting the customers actually look around and enjoy what the (dying) reef had to offer. Our group included three new snorklers, two of which are likely to be one and done. Not the memories we hoped to generate. This tour was advertised as 6 hours. Even with the unadvertised and unwanted tequila presentation, it barely lasted 4. The lunch consisted of three tolerable tacos each. Extra cost for beverages; even non alcoholic drinks. All in all, again sadly subpar.

This trip was very well organized. Our instructors, Cariana and Maui, were upbeat and informative. We enjoyed the snorkeling and were able to see a lot of ocean life. It was followed up with tequila tasting and delicious tacos. What a fun activity! I highly recommend.
We had a great day. Francisco was our guide and he was terrific. Friendly to everyone on the tour. Everyone should be like him. Would highly recommend. The lunch at the end was really good.
It was good, but we didn't get a whole lot of time to look around Puerto Morelos. I would have happily ditched the tacos or tequila tasting (which is really a bit of a sales pitch), to have time to look round.
The snorkeling was great, we had a great guide. The tacos afterwards were good as well. We got a small tequila tasting right after the snorkeling, which was a sales pitch but there was no big pressure to buy. Overall it was a good experience.
This tour was a disaster for us. Not the tour itself because we never actually went on the tour. We had email confirmations from Viator and the local tour operator and we even had our electronic tickets for this snorkeling adventure in Puerto Morales. But the local tour operator booked us on a completely different tour (to Tulum ruins and cenotes) which we were not interested in. They admitted to their mistake and refunded our money. But we were deeply disappointed. We've booked many times with Viator for many different countries and never had a problem. But this was a HUGE problem. 7 of us were very upset, especially the 10 and 12 year old kids.
First need to note that you can't wear sunscreen and they make you wash anything off that you might already be wearing. Since my girls burn easily we ended up spending $75 USD on trash guard shirts. Which is good because they did have their legs and bum burned and that was less out of the water. The snorkeling was a lot of fun for my husband and I. If you're not used to swimming then it can be very tiring. Our daughters didn't care for it at all since they were constantly moving for the entire hour in the water. The tacos were good but since I'm gluten free there wasn't anything I could have. My family did enjoy them though. The tequila tasting was fun and there was no pressure to buy. We checked out the town but the guides did warn us not to buy from most of the vendors. We bought stuff from the grocery store and one the suggested vendors. We also had ice cream at Aldo's which was divine and gluten free for me. I think the 2.5hr of shopping was a little bit long and we were exhausted by the time our ride got there. We enjoyed it and if the details is timing were more clear then maybe we would have been better prepared.
Pick up from moon palace was 8am, Travelled to Puerto Maleres, snorkelling for just over an hour, tequila tasting, tacos for lunch and then hour to visit shops. Back at hotel for 3pm. Good trip.
Amazing trip with amazing guides! This was the highlight of our trip to the area. After the briefing about snorkeling and caring for the reef we went out on a quick 5 min boat ride to the reef. We snorkeled for about an hour and saw endless tropical fish and coral along with a sea turtle, eagle ray, yellow stingray, barracuda, moray eel, and so much more! Obviously we got lucky and I’m not sure everyone will see that much. The guides were fun and knowledgeable. After snorkeling we put in our orders for tacos then went back to the main location where we started across the street from the beach where the boat is located. Then they did an education and tasting of tequila. We don’t drink, so this wasn’t entertaining or interesting to us at all, but the others in the group seemed to like it. Then we got tacos that were just ok, but still fun to sit on a balcony overlooking the ocean to eat. While eating, the photographer (Mario - our favorite) came to show us the pictures from snorkeling on his iPad. The pictures were amazing and we spent the $1050 pesos for him to send them to our phones. Pro tip, after tacos we had almost two hours of wait time until our van came. We rented a moped from the shop Nextdoor for $25 and explored this amazing town.
Such a fun day! There was a guide in the water with you to show the cool stuff, everyone was super kind, and we had the best time. These guys will treat you well!
Great tour guides! MiguelAngel (Mike) was great from start to finish always making sure we knew what to expect and where to go. His tequila knowledge is great as well :) Thanks for an awesome excursion!
Loved the tour so much. Loved how they care about the reef and keeping it safe. Guides were fantastic!
What a bad service! The people here are likely want to take all of your money. Firstly the driver picked up us at 8:50, then asking for the tip directly in the car. When we reached the destination, the assistant guide us some thing before snorkeling. Remember guide, they DO NOT allow us bring the camera or phone during snorkeling. But during snorkeling, the tour guide has the camera and took photos for us, then he charged $49 for all photos. I said no for this charge! Other than that, before going to snorkeling, we need to lock our stuffs in the drawer. The assistant gave us the lock and requested 200 pesos for deposit. We were alright for that. However, when we returned the lock back and took back the deposit, the tour guide keep holding our money and asked: "how much will you tip for me today?". Wth is this service? We are only tip for the service which we are satisfied, not forcing to tip then. The snorkeling was so so, not much corals and fishes. The lunch included but just 3 small tacos, not enough for a lunch. We had to go to the super store near by to buy more things to eat. When we returned back, the driver asked for tip again 🙃 Never recommend!
It’s a very fun activity to do. They will bring you to a boat and take you to the reef. It took me a few minutes to get to used to it since I haven’t snorkeled before but once I got the hang of it, it was beautiful! You can’t take your phone in the water but they will take pictures and offer it to you for $. The lunch part will be after snorkeling even if you choose the afternoon slot so you will have “lunch” at around 4pm. It was tacos on the beach and they were delicious. Great vibes.
We had a wonderful afternoon trip. Our guide pointed out several interesting things in the reef that we would have overlooked with out him. The tacos afterward were delicious and we ate on a deck overlooking the sea. Beautiful!
Good for first timers or someone who is not 100% comfortable in the water. The instructors were great, so would definitely recommend! The only thing that put me off was organization of the trip, as it was advertised as 4h but ended up being 7h due to waiting around for others.
Fun adventure with outstanding tour group. Freda and the whole crew was fun. We saw amazing colorful fish and corals. Included with our tour was tequila tasting and an outstanding lunch of delicious fish tacos. The tequila tasting included how tequila is grown, harvested and fermented. Following the presentation we got to sample 6 different types and flavors of tequila. I highly recommend this tour and visiting the small village of Puerto Móreles.
Beware the fine print! tre title reads "Half-day snorking ecper. with lunch" ( and the reviews refer to a morning trip ) we thought we were signing up for a morning snorkeling trip. Obviously, lunch is not served until after snorkeling, right? So how could the serve lunch for a 2 pm trip? (we didn't notice that down below it says "choose between morning or afternoon."...our bad for not reading all the fine print!) We only realized we were assigned to an 2 pm. Snorkel trip when we received the email confirmation at 3:30 p.m. the day before. --- 1.5 hours after the deadline for cancellation was passed. Given the misleading title, and the past-deadline confirmation, I thought requesting a refund was reasonable. Nope, they adamantly refused and when I tried to explain stopped responding. So we lost $78, but we easily found a different morning snorkeling trip, on short notice, via a local referral (from an ex-pat)-- not a travel agency like Viator -- and enjoyed some good snorkling with a terrific guide.....for far less $. If you are in PM, just walk onto the pier and ask for Joachim. Note to self: read the fine print and don't assume goodwill from a travel agency.
We were picked up from our hotel right on time by their shuttle. The tour started with a 45 minute snorkel, which was only a few minutes boat ride. The crew got in the water with us and pointed out sea creatures they found near us. They had a photographer swimming with us and taking photos of everyone, as well as the surroundings. The photos were decently priced compared to most excursions. Afterwards we did a tequila tasting, which was somewhat of a sales pitch, but there was no pressure. Next we walked across the street to a beach front restaurant and ate tacos. Lastly we did a small amount of shopping in the surrounding shops. This excursion was well worth the price we paid.
The trip was great but we were told the wrong meeting place. Thank goodness for someone familiar with the tour being close and pointing us in the right directions
Quality equipment, safety protocols in place and overall a good snorkel. My only complaint is our tour was scheduled for 10, then changed to 9:20 and one of our party could not accommodate the change. Waiting to see if a refund will be granted
Second tour we did with this company, just the day after our arrival. Pickup was on time at the hotel, smooth ride to Puerto Morelos. Once we arrived to Puerto Morelos, we got ready to snorkel. Puerto Morelos is great for this as the coral reef is huge, the spot that they take you too is just the right spot. Merino was the snorkel guide, such a nice guy! Friendly and accommodating, we felt safe at all times. Traveling with teens can be sometimes hard and this guy was able to maintain in everyone’s attention. Once we were done, we had some delicious tacos at the restaurant and then they took us back to the hotel. Great tour: ideal duration, great service and amazing staff overall. Do yourself a favor and book this tour.
Wonderful experience with my family of five! Freida is a great ambassador of the beautiful reef. Freida is very knowledgeable of the type of fish and coral. The tacos were delicious. Book this affordable trip and do not hesitate. This was a highlight of our vacation in Cancun
Our water guide (Frieda) and crew did s great job showing us a large number of fish and crabs. It was a fun afternoon. We could have swam longer. They have done a great job keeping the reef safe.
We enjoyed snorkel adventure . Saw pretty fish. Mike,Fredia, Hoyl we’re great ! Tacos delicious. Would recommend
Tour guide was excellent during snorkeling. Whole trip was excellent. He showed us the coral reef and all the different fish and made sure nobody got lost
The reef is absolutely breathtaking, its a beautiful thing to see, you will be entertained the whole hour and twenty minutes you are swimming out there. You will see beautiful fish and most of the staff is very friendly and helpful
The snorkeling was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. But the timeline was very off. We booked the 9 AM to 1 PM tour. When we got to the shop at 9 AM, we were told the tour wouldn’t start at 10 AM, so we walked around for an hour. When the tour was done, first we were told driver would pick us up between 1 PM - 1:30 PM, then we were told it would be between 1:30 PM - 2 PM. At 2 PM, driver was not there. We had to ask the staff again, because we needed to check out the hotel at 3 PM. One of the staff members offered to drive us out of town to meet up with the driver. We got back to hotel at 2:40 PM instead of scheduled 1:30 PM-ish.
My kids loved this! Sting rays, barracudas, so many tropical fish and beautiful reefs! The instructor was knowledgeable and kind.
We wanted straight up snorkeling and that's exactly what we got. My whole family enjoyed it. The driver and tour rep picked us up in a private van (5 of us) right on-time, drove us to Morelos (abt 30 mins from Cancún Zona Hotelera, and right away after we got there, the boat was waiting for us, guide and gear all set. We were in the water for about an hour and saw so much beauty, the reefs and fish varieties were amazing. We tried other tours before which include drinking and lunch, and shopping, but very little and crowded snorkeling in Isla Mujeres, we wanted to try a tour that gave us just snorkeling and we got just that. We had a private van, private boat, and a whole lot of coral reef to explore. The lunch part is not true, they just offer a water per person, 1 bag of chips, some cookies and some juices, but we didn't mind nor were hungry. For the price, we would definitely do it again. Our group has ages from 9 to 65 and we all had a blast. Happy customers.
This was a great experience! I don't know how long we were snorkeling, but it was just the right amount of time. We felt safe the entire time while in the water. Saw some beautiful fish! Didn't realize you aren't supposed to wear sunscreen due to damage to the reef, so our backside got a little red. This was my first time snorkeling and I would highly recommend doing this tour for beginners.
Wonderful personalities, cautious and helpful with family and kids. Very knowledgeable about cultural environment and while providing a great time.
Excellent staff, very friendly and knowledgeable. Would absolutely take this tour again and recommend it to others. The fish tacos at lunch are the best!
