Great day out and Charly the tour guide was brilliant.
This was the best experience ever! Book it! You won't regret a single second.
The tour guides were amazing, and everything was very well organized. Highly recommended! Los guías son espectaculares y todo estuvo muy bien organizado. ¡Totalmente recomendado!
We had a wonderful time on our tour! Our guides were wonderful, so friendly and so knowledgeable. They were extremely accommodating, we would gladly book this tour again.
This tour was awesome, we learned so much about the Maya culture, We were very impressed with the Cenotes and Pyramids. Hector the tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable, also very accommodating. We enjoyed the food as well, 100% recommend.
I had an amazing experience on this tour! Everything was well organized from start to finish, and the service was excellent. The tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience enjoyable and memorable. The itinerary was well planned, with plenty of time to explore, relax, and take in the beautiful surroundings. My hotel was not included in the pick up and they arranged the pick up and drop off.
Our guide was awesome and very knowledgeable.
It’s a long day, that’s for sure. That being said, it was SO fun. The stops at Chichikan and Chichen Itza were fascinating and pickup and drop off couldn’t have been easier. Juam is an absolutely perfect storyteller and he kept us entertained and engaged for longer than I thought possible. I couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide. His knowledge of Mayan history was thrilling and he did such a great job of engaging with us for like 10 hours. He makes you want to be his friend after the tour. Victor probably doesn’t get enough credit for all the work he puts in behind the scenes. Every single aspect of the trip went flawlessly thanks to his planning and execution. Lorenzo is a master behind the wheel. I never once felt unsafe with him driving and he maneuvered that massive bus through some really tight spaces with laser precision. I’d take this tour all over again if I got the chance.
Pick up from out hotel was fine. The coach went to a bus meeting point and we were told to wait there for our actual coach. After 15 minutes of waiting on a hot day with no seating, we were moved to an area in the hot sun to wait another 10 minutes or so. We were placed on a bus that took us to a Cenote. 10 or 12 of us were told this is not our tour included 1 cenote visit and that we would join another bus for our tour. When we got off the bus there was no one there to tell us where to go or what to do. We stood by the bus for 10 minutes wondering where to go and what to do. Was this cenote part of our tour? Were we supposed to go inside somewhere? Where was the entrance? People started wandering around. This was a big venue with gift shops and snack bars. I went to the toilet and after this i found out that this was not out cenote and that a bus was coming to pick us up in 10 minutes. By this time, it had been over 2 hours since our initial pickup from our hotel and we have seen nothing on our tour. When we got on our correct tour bus, it took us to a bit of a tourist trap place where there was a large gift shop selling crystals and a shaman would activate it with a blessing if you bought one. An guy from the UK bought a crystal and he said that the shaman would give your crystal healing powers for a $400 USD donation. He declined the upgraded healing blessing! The cocoa tasting was nice but not many people bought any of it. The buffet was good and enjoyable but the drinks were very expensive--4 small (330 ml) bottles of water was $22 plus a tip. We spent 2 hours at Chitchen Itza. The tour guide gave us a good briefing on all the gift vendor scams and definitely scared everyone from buying anything there. We han a nice 1 hour visit at the cenote and then we ended the tour with 30 minutes in a nearby Mexican town square where we got some really good ice cream. Upon getting back on the coach, we were told that we would be driving to another meeting up poing to change busses to take us back to our hotel in Cancun. So that was 4 or 5 bus changes. We got back to our hotel around 10:30 pm--a 15.5 hour day with 3 visits (Chitchen Itza, cenote, & town) and lunch. We were exhausted by the time we got back. While we enjoyed the visits, the hours of bus shuffles and last-minute information and sometimes not knowing what we were supposed to do was irritating and unnecessary. I honestly don't think I would recommend this tour. However, I did appreciate the free water after each afternoon stop. I don't think I would have survived the mid-September heat and humidity without it and the cool bus air conditioning!
A very long day in a very large group. The activities were enjoyable but there was a lot of additional costs which we hadn't anticipated. We booked this excursion as we speak very limited Spanish and were told it was an English speaking tour. The majority of the rest of the group all spoke fluent Spanish and our guide only told us a few things in English and gave majority of the communication in Spanish, so we missed out on a lot of the cultural education and information, which is what we were looking forward to. We had a separate guide in Chichen Itza, who gave a brilliant tour and we thoroughly enjoyed that. The open cenote swimming was fun. Generally everything felt very rushed. We didn't have enough time at each location and with the additional costs & not understanding what we were being told, overall we didn't enjoy this day. We'd recommend booking tours in smaller groups and with less activities in one go.
This was one of the highlights of our trip to Mexico! It will be a busy day but a very fun one. We had two amazing guides, Rodolfo and Gonzales. They were both very informative while being fun and entertaining. I was very impressed with how smoothly they switched between English and Spanish (completely fluent in both). We learned a lot of new things and they took very good care of us at each stop. Great people. Also thank you to Christian, their helper, and Eddie the driver. We were staying at a resort not on the pickup locations list, but were able to message the tour group on WhatsApp and arrange a pick-up and drop-off right at our actual resort. We appreciate you accommodating us! 1st stop: Mayan market and lunch We met some Mayans and learned a bit about their beliefs and culture. There are a lot of traditional goods for sale to support the Mayan community. It's pretty small and if you don't plan on buying many souvenirs this might be the least exciting part of the trip. However, the lunch was delicious and very filling. 2nd stop: Chichen Itza Absolutely incredible. First you get a quick tour of the main points and learn the history and fun facts of the area. After that, we had some free time to wander back to our favourite spots and explore more. Our guides gave us good tips on how to avoid scams and stay protected from the heat and sun. 3rd stop: Swimming in Cenote This was also amazing and so fun! The whole area is charming and I could have honestly spent a whole day just here. 4th stop: Valladolid I really liked this spot too. It's a vibrant city full of life. I only wish we could have had more time here as we only got 30 min which felt like barely enough time to rush through the main street and back. You basically have to choose between grabbing some food and not seeing anything, or checking out the town and going hungry. We didn't get back to the resort until past 8pm, so it was a while to go without food since the lunch we had with the Mayans. However, it was definitely still worth the stop, but bring snacks if you plan on exploring over eating. Overall wonderful people and an unforgettable experience well worth the time and cost! Thank you again to everyone!
The absolute best experience worth every single dollar. Cat and his crew were amazing.
Extremely LONG day very tiring. Completely unaware of what to expect made far worse by so little translated into English by the guide. We felt completely left out of everything happening. Unnecessary “Money making” stops with no benefit to the traveller whatsoever. Would not book again
The agency was excellent! They were very professional, communicative, and responsive throughout the entire process. I really appreciated how easy they made everything and how quickly they answered any questions I had. I would definitely recommend them!
The tour is absolutely worth every dime, it was informative, the guide was super nice. The bus is also comfortable, they offer drinks including tequilas which is a huge plus.
The guides answered all our questions promptly. The stories at Chichen Itza are interesting.
It’s a really good time definitely really tourist trap like hundreds of people trying to sell you stuff and scam you but if that doesn’t bother you the guilds are very nice and informative
We booked through Sunwing for the shorter 2 hour tour so I can't remember the actual tour company. I think it was Cancun something. Anyway, Ricardo and his driver were excellent! The drive was smooth sailing, and Ricardo was very knowledgeable about the history and had several pictures on his tablet to show us things that we couldn't see at the time. He showed genuine concern for all the passengers to ensure our best experience.
Be prepared for a long day. We were expecting to be back at our hotel at 7 to 7:30 PM but didn’t get back until 9:15. The experience was worth it. The lunch wasn’t very appetizing but we didn’t book this excursion for the lunch!
We booked the tour using Viator. After initially finding out we had to pay more for entrance fees and taxes etc, it still worked out less than half the price of booking through our hotel rep. The whole day was brilliant, the tour guides were great and really made the day. Special mention to Ximena, Gonzalo, Rodolfo and Porfirio. Would 100% recommend and would definitely book again!
The tour was amazing! Everything is very well organized, with a lot of important information, instructions simultaneously in Spanish and English!! Amazing! The guides Gonzalo, Rodolfo, Christian were so full of energy, with humor, very friendly, helpful and shared a lot of knowledge. The lunch was good. We also took some sandwiches and water with us that we cooked home, which was great decision because the trip is long. Chichen-Itza was wow!! Turned out is a lot to see there, so in order not to miss anything you better watch some video in advance because is veeerry hot and the time is limited as it is a big group tour. Cenote was wonderful, so beautiful even though we decided not to swim in advance. Next time we would swim. Validolid is super cute, reminded me of Antigua city in Guatemala. Advise you to eat there very tasty Santa Clara ice cream and buy some tasty chocolate in Museum of Chocolate. I wish maybe to have slightly more time in Chichen-Itza and Validolid. But is a very dense tour with the big group so it is understandable that the time is limited. Overall I would give it 10/10, everything was so easy, comfortable, with so much joy and fun. We had a blast!!! We came back with beautiful photos, wonderful memories! So put comfortable shoes and clothes, a hat and prepare to enjoy! Again huge thanks for the guides Gonzalo, Rudolfo, Christian and the driver! Great team!! Muchisimas gracias!!
Great experience and informative staff. Made the ride entertaining. Beautiful views
We had English guide with the service he was very patient explaining the culture . The entire team was very friendly and patient. Will definitely recommend them . They are vey competitive on pricing too compared to options available on resorts .
They try to sell you all kinds of extras so make sure you bring cash with you if you plan to purchase beverages or gifts along the way.
Great experience of Mexican culture.
George the driver was great, Rodrigo Rodolpho, and Christian were the best crew, they worked great , made us comfortable and felt safe .. the tour was very worth it!
It was a great experience, around a 13/14 hour day from pick up to drop off. I would highly recommend! Rodolfo, Ximena and Gonzalo were very helpful guides.
My tour guide on bus was speaking only in Spanish. He shared lots of information however it was all in Spanish and only few sentence in English. It was waste of money and time for me. I requested English speaking guide. Additionally it was a marketing tricks at lunch place. Tour guide spent unnecessary time in store at lunch stop where there was no seating available for senior or other tourist. At Chichen Itza the guide was English speaking so it was little relief.
Amazing experience. Gonzalo went above and beyond. It was a long day but we learned and experienced so much. The whole crew( Roberto, Cristian and Francisco) were amazing. Gonzalo is probably the best tour guide we ever had. Thanks for a great tour
Great tour guides ! Great experience. Deff worth doing
Roberto is an excellent guide! He is very friendly and knowledgeable. The bus driver did great as well. I wish we had more time at Chichen Itza. We only had two hours and didn't get to see everything. After the walk to and from the area and a guided tour of some of the area, we only had about 20 minutes of free time. I wish we had more time at the cenote as well. We had one hour, which included walking to and from the area, changing, showering, purchasing a locker rental, and getting a life jacket. We maybe had 30 minutes in the water.
We had an amazing time!! Loved the guides and the whole team!!
Everything was great had a alot off fun with all the people tour
Staff and tour was great! The cenote tour was memorable.
Driver was great. Tour guide was extremly knowledgeable. Great hospitality. I would skip the first stop so we can get to Chichinitza faster. Chichinitza was great and the knowledge of the guide Orlando, made it better. The 1st stop at the collaborative makes the rest of the trip rushed and the items there were too expensive. Food everywhere was average. The air of the van worked overtime but it was warm. Over all worth it. Read reviews and take everything you need, towels, phone water protection, sun block, bug repellent, swimware and cash. For souvenir there are hundreds at Chichinitza.
Overall, the experience were great. The personnel was amazing. All four guys. Roberto is funny kids love him.. Driver is amazing. The professor was kind and the young fella Cristianowas just a joy. The only thing check your tickets and see what’s not included and be expected to pay more, and everywhere you go you have to tip everybody so bring cash with you
The trip was a very long day over 15 hrs. We were picked up in Cancun and then taken to Playa Del Carmen which took over 2 hrs before we even started our trip. The trip it self was good, we started with a visit to a souvenir shop which we were there over 1 hour, then had lunch. We then went to the highlight of the trip to Chichen Itza, the English speak guide was brilliant and we had time to look around by ourselves We then went to the caves for a swim which was welcome due to the heat. We spent over an hour, then went stop at a town for 30 min. The three guides we had for the day were great. The only thing that let the day down was the travelling from Cancun to Playa Del Carmen and back.
it was very educational The guide was very knowledgeable about everything.
The experience was excullent for this tour. The hospitality of the tour group was amazing. They picked up on time from my Rresort and dropped me at my resort door at night. They covered all places as per package. There is no hidden fees. Even they provided cold water and complementary drinks though it was not covered in my classic package. The tour was whole day but we did not feel when the day passed. Bus was fully AC & comfortable. We visited Mayan store near Chichen Itza first. We had a mexican buffet lunch there with Vegatble, chicken and multiple meats options. Then we visited Chichen Itza, Cenote selva Maya (saamal )and lastly valladolid. All the members were very helpful and cooperative like family members. Thanks to Caribe Mex group (Cristian, Gonzalo, Reinaldo & Orlando) for the guidance and support. Thanks to Viatore as well as I got connected this group through viatore. In one word it was amazing tour with best prices.
We had an amazing experience on this Chichen Itza & Cenote tour and would highly, highly, highly recommend it! The hotel pickup was smooth and very easy, and the entire tour was extremely well organized. The schedule was perfect for us—we left our hotel around 8:00 AM and returned around 7:00 PM, which gave us plenty of time to enjoy everything without feeling rushed or exhausted. A special thank you to our guide, Saul. He made the trip so much more enjoyable with all the fascinating stories, historical facts, and fun anecdotes he shared throughout the day. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and had a great sense of humor, which kept everyone entertained. We also appreciated that although we stopped at a few local shops, there was absolutely no pressure to buy anything. It felt very relaxed and respectful, which made the experience much more enjoyable. The food and drinks were another pleasant surprise. Breakfast, lunch, bottled water, soft drinks, and even Mexican beer were all included. The lunch was delicious, especially the pulled pork—it was one of our favorite meals of the day! Overall, everything was thoughtfully planned from start to finish. Excellent service, great value, and an unforgettable experience. We would absolutely book this tour again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cancun!
Fantastic tour was well guided and so easy to manage. I enjoyed every moment of the tour. I learned so much history and truly learned somuch details about the culture.
This trip was amazing and family friendly. The staff was nice to pick us up at our hotel and also provided with water at times. The only suggestion is to give more time at cenote by taking some time away from lunch.
10/10 experience it was well planned for to do everything would recommend amazing tour guides!
I enjoyed the entire trip and the guide was amazing
Saul and Ray were AWESOME!!! Tours were a little long in the heat but I guess I should expect that in the summer. Great tour to complete our 7th world wonder and 18th anniversary
Saul was an amazing tour guide, very kind and knowledgeable. We learned so much about the culture and loved every second of it!!! Highly recommend
Perfect service and experience!!
In exchange for roughly $189 USD per person of tour fees, entry fees and mandatory life jackets rentals, and about 12 to 13 hours of your life, and whatever you can afford to buy in drinks at a 500% markup, you will get: 20 minutes inside the waters of a Cenote with a zip line and jump off platforms. 30 minutes watching a ridiculous Mayan reenactment. 1 hour eating highly mediocre buffet style food. 1 hour baking at Chichen Itzá during peak heat. 17 minutes sprinting through Valladolid. The remaining 10+ hours of this tour will be spent trapped inside a cramped van with non-existent air conditioning or being aggressively subjected to repeated sales presentations. Our Experience: The Detailed Breakdown: The Logistics & The "Sweat Box" - We had thought we were saving money by using a discount through a pre-paid tour package. However extra fees paid directly to the tour operator “Caribe MEX tours” resulted in us actually paying more than if we had simply done things without a tour guide. Scheduling via WhatsApp with Caribe MEX tours (who is the tour coordinator) was easy enough. We were staying at an Airbnb, so we were given a nearby hotel pickup point. We were told to be there by 7:10 AM; the bus arrived late at 7:25 AM. Not a huge deal, as we were excited. Then we saw the vehicle. If you are from the US, picture a Dodge Sprinter van. There were 13 passengers plus a driver and guide. The legroom is atrocious— no room between your knees and the seat in front of you. Worse yet, the air conditioning was a joke from the start, emitting a mere trickle of air from the overhead vents. Immediately upon hitting the road, the guide collected the Chichen Itzá entry fees. For my family of four, this was (Can’t say per review guidelines). The Itinerary Bait-and-Switch The discount tour website explicitly implies you will head to Chichen Itzá first to enjoy 2.5 hours of exploring before the crowds and heat descend. "You'll be picked up from your hotel and taken to Chichén Itzá where you'll have two and a half hours to wander around..." This is entirely false. You do not even go to Chichen Itza first..or even second, or third. When I pointed out to the guide that arriving after 11:00 AM means dealing with unbearable peak heat, massive crowds, and hundreds of aggressive vendors, he claimed he had "no control" over the route. Stop 1: The Rushed Cenote Instead of the ruins, we went to a Cenote first. Here, we discovered life jackets are mandatory and cost an extra (Can’t say per review guidelines) we only spent 15 minutes here, by the time life jackets were distributed and changing time was factored in, our kids had barely 30 minutes of total time, resulting in maybe 20 minutes in the actual water. This was tragic, as the Cenote was the only good part of the day. Stop 2: The High-Pressure Sales Floor The second stop wasn’t Chichen Itzá either. It was a second "cenote" property designed exclusively as an aggressive sales trap where we spent the bulk of our day. The "Shaman Blessing": Advertised as an important cultural ceremony, this was actually a young man passing wet leaves and a smoking bowl of rocks around in stifling, bug-infested heat. The Obsidian Scam: This immediately segued into a presentation on the "healing properties" of obsidian. The presenters used standard applied kinesiology/leverage tricks to fake a demonstration of physical strength, even falsely claiming that Johns Hopkins Medical Center uses these rocks for energy healing. (Fact check: They absolutely do not). The Rest of the Gauntlet: We were marched past teenagers doing a half-hearted Mayan ball game demonstration (and demanding tips), followed by being dumped in front of tables littered with Mayan related souvenirs, then offered a tequila tastings meant to force a purchase. Throughout this entire two-hour sales trap, we were never offered water fountains, or even a place to sit. Stop 3: Midday Lunch By 10:30 AM, it was apparently time for lunch. We were served a low-to-mid-grade buffet. No drinks are included—not even water. If you want a flavored beverage, expect to pay $5.50 USD with zero refills. When we got back into the van after lunch, the true nightmare began. The van had been baking in the sun. Pack 15 human bodies radiating heat into a metal container on wheels, and you get a rolling oven. Water began dripping from the broken overhead AC vents onto my head. Stop 4: Chichen Itzá at 1:00 PM (Peak Heat) We finally arrived at the ruins at 1:00 PM. The sun was blinding, the heat was dangerous, and we were entirely out of water because the tour never stopped at standard local stores (like OXXO) where water is cheap. The single refreshment kiosk at the ruins charged a 550% markup compared to normal Mexican prices. After being forced to pay those exorbitant prices just to keep my family hydrated, we walked down a path lined with hundreds of incredibly aggressive vendors shouting for our attention, time and money. Our actual guided tour lasted 40 minutes, leaving us with a mere 15 minutes of free time to actually look at the ruins before we had to sprint back to the parking lot to avoid being left behind. Stop 5: 17 Minutes in Valladolid & The Final Audacity The "Magical Town of Valladolid" was reduced to a rushed 17-minute stop. The tour guide explained that the police wouldn’t allow us to stay any longer. I suspect that it was actually because the tour guide and the driver just wanted to get home. No one really argued because everyone was miserable, dehydrated, and desperate to get home. We didn't view architecture; we ran to find fluids, ice cream, snacks and bathrooms (it cost money to use bathrooms). On the brutal drive back, I walked to the front of the van to ask the guide to turn up the air conditioning. I discovered that the driver and tour guide were basking in a blast of ice-cold air from the front vents while the guide played on his phone with his feet up. He promised to fix the air conditioning in back; he never did. To cap off a truly miserable 13-hour day, as we neared our drop-off point, the tour guide stood up and announced to the exhausted, sweating cabin that a tip was expected. The sheer audacity was mind-boggling. Final Verdict Do not waste your time, money, or sanity on this tour. It is a poorly air-conditioned sales gauntlet disguised as a cultural excursion. Save yourself the headache and book a private driver or a reputable alternative.
This was all day but we came prepared with extra snacks, water shoes, sunscreen, charges, towels, drinks etc which made all the difference. We brought cash and had fun haggling with vendors at each location. Sometimes it was hard to understand between the Mexican and English. The bus was comfortable for sleeping. We learned a lot about the Mayans and the chicen itsa was very cool. We felt super safe it did cost $150 more ($50 per peraon) or so than the $25 (per person) purchase price on Viator when we got on the bus I think the $25 is just for the transport to the meeting point and then you have to pay the actual tour folks for the tour chichen itsa entrance the life vests and extras etc they really want to share their culture and we got local honey and we learned and we had a good day. Yes it would’ve been easier to sit at the look all day and burn but I don’t think it’s as educational or productive the lunch buffet was fantastic o super amazing lunch - I would only say they need a Starlink on the tour bus service was non existent
