Chichen Itza was a memorable full day experience 7am to 10pm). Our tour guide Rex was fun, entertaining with a great knowledge that he was happy to share. My favourite place was Cenote, although our visit to Chichen Itza was unforgettable. Loved the day! Gabrielle

We did not get enough time at Chichen Itza which was what we wanted to see. What should have been 4 hours there was only one. The tour spent too much time in local stores so vendors could push their products on.
Nobody showed up wasted my whole day
We got the premium package which included drinks, would recommend. Our guide was Mayan and we stopped by a Mayan village in the morning and, had lunch there it was pretty amazing. Chichén Itzá did not disappoint, again super awesome to have a Mayan guide at a Mayan pyramid. The little city at the end was cute I just wish we had enough time for dinner since we did not get back to the hotel till 10pm. Also our guide Ishmael was amazing, you should be excited you will have a great tour if you get him.
I booked the trip the day before as it said it was available. I was waiting for 2 hours for my pickup and nobody came. No confirmation from the company and no calls and emails were being answered. Do not advertise for it to be bookable if you cannot pick up
They don't respond on calls or emails. I waited at the meeting point for 2 hours and nobody showed up. They simply ruined my plans
Its amazing to get to live the things we see on the internet. See the pyramid chichen swimming in the cenote. Learning the culture, no regrets. Maybe one bringing more pesos.
Although this is a very long day it is such a joy. Our guide Sergio was the best tour guide I have ever had the pleasure of traveling with. So informative and bounced from English and Spanish so effortlessly it made it possible to learn some Spanish while learning about Mayan culture.
The tour was mid. Started off 30 minutes late, but they had good communication when I reached out on WhatsApp. Went to cenote first it was beautiful, but spent more time trying to get sold on stuff in the gift shop than in the cenote. The cenote is private, and won’t even show up on Google Maps, so you can only go to this one through a tour bus event. Went to Chichen itza next, had to walk past 50 + booths yelling at you to try and sell you stuff, and if you dare even stop to take a look you get aggressively sold to. No manners or asking about my trip, and the booths all selling the same stuff start to compete with eachother so the intensity just gets raised. Terrible. Chichen itza structure itself was beautiful, but our walking tour was about 15 minutes with little to no information. Maybe the site is just not as well documented as some other tour guides I have had before. Then waited 30 minutes + for a new bus since ours had its AC break. I would have rather just got o the bus and left, it’s Mexico after all. I appreciate the gesture though. Then stopped at the city Valladolid, a brutal tourist stop, for 1 hour. At this point everyone would have preferred to just head straight home, but we participated in the complimentary “tequila tasting” which was maybe .1 Ox proceeded by aggressive sales, just because I said I liked it (out of kindness). Sales person refused to take no for an answer, and was trying to sell me on buy 3 bottles get 1 free, even though I didn’t have carry on or checked bags. I couldn’t have taken these home on my flight, but this man didn’t care to ask or listen. I simply would have bought a travel sized option but he was too rude and aggressive. Also commented on my phone and said that meant I had lots of money… no I am a broke university student who is in debt. Eventually had to escape this and sneak back onto the bus while the tour guide helped him search for me. Near the end of the trip, the tour guide hoped on the intercom and gave a sob story about how he doesn’t care where we come from and our culture but we are obligated to tip since that’s there culture, and that’s how he makes money… but I didn’t want to since I felt like the experience was mid af and he was just enabling us into all the tourist traps. I then got a death scare which made me nervous for my life. Eventually I got home several hours later than expected. And felt very bummed out. It’s been 2 months since and am still annoyed so that’s why I am leaving a review. Maybe it was because I was solo travelling, maybe it was because it was the low season and people were desperate, or maybe I am just Canadian and am to nice to the locals and they think I am easy pickens, but this event definitely didn’t impress me :/. I would say it’s okay to do if you really want to see Chichen itza on a budget, but be aware at this price point, it’s gonna be a rough time.
This was a wonderful excursion, I was a little bit confused about having to pay the entry fee to Chichen Itza separately since other people in our group didn't have to. I wish all the fees would have been included up-front. But other than that the staff was very nice and helpful, and they took care of us all day long from our hotel pickup to the hotel drop off at night. I would definitely recommend this tour to people visiting the region of Cancun !
Be warned this is a very long trip! We were picked up at 0650 and didn't get back to the hotel until 2100. Keep this is mind because you're only provided lunch which we had at 1130. We were starving when we got back. Also be prepared to buy lots of water. It didn't help that other guests on the trip were incredibly inconsiderate with keeping to timings set by the tour staff. This is no fault of the tour crew. The tour itself was great. The cenote was great fun and beautiful. Chichen Itza is also awesome to see. I don't think Valladoid was necessary for the trip. The team on board were also lovely. Thanks for a great (but very hot) day.
I cannot recommend this excursion enough! If you are on the fence about booking a Chichen Itza and cenote tour, just do it. It is a long day, but it is incredibly well-organized and worth every penny. Our tour guides, Gustavo and can't remove the other guides name, sorry, were fantastic—funny, engaging, and deeply knowledgeable about Mayan history. Swimming in the cenote was the absolute highlight of the trip. The water is stunningly clear. A huge thank you to the team for taking such great care of us. If you want to dive deep into Mayan culture and see one of the wonders of the world, this is the tour to book! I highly recommend bringing cash in case cards don't work!!
Excellent staff and knowledge of the history and sights we saw coupled with good facilities and experience.
An absolute disgrace Unnecessary stops here there and everywhere The all you can drink and buffet is borderline a scam, as its part of your time at the centote. Spent 5 minutes in the cenote and just about had enough time for one plate of food and one small glass of beer. When you finally get to chichen itza after 7 hours they tell you to be back at the bus in 45 minutes. We Spent longer stopping at gift shops and toilets. I'd nearly dispute this charge on my credit card it was that bad. At the end they hand out feedback forms that presumably go in the bin, so that you dont go to the effort of leaving this review. Refund me and ill delete this. Wasters.
I went into this tour with low expectations, and we were still disappointed by a few things. First off, it took me 3 times to get in contact with the tour company to confirm my pick up time, which ended up being 7:50. They informed me that we had to be ready 10 minutes before at our hotel lobby. We waited half an hour for someone to finally get us, but then the tour company employee made us walk to a meeting point. Why offer the hotel pick-up option if you just made us go to a meeting point on Fifth Avenue? From this moment on, I knew the tour was going downhill. Our first stop ended up not being Chichén Itzá, but rather a quaint colonial town called Valladolid. I found the cathedral stunning; however, the stop was only 25 minutes long. They immediately brought us to a tequila shop for a tasting, and the workers there hounded my partner and I about buying tequila and silver. It tainted my experience, and it made me feel really uncomfortable. Once we left Valladolid, we headed towards Cenote Xunaan. Our tour guide, Manuel—though enthusiastic, nice, and funny—gave us a whole blurb about his Mayan culture, and how we'd get these Mayan birth calendars and horoscopes like him. It ended up being 550MXN each, and the final product looked so inauthentic. Plus, they got my birthday wrong. Once we got to Xunaan, the place was beautifully arranged. We got to see a shaman perform some ritual, which was interesting; but after we had 20 minutes to browse the gift shop. Right away, an employee tried to convince me to buy what was supposed to be a real obsidian bracelet for 1000MXN and, of course, more tequila. She was nice about it, but I just felt compelled to buy something overpriced. I got chocolate, earrings, and shot glasses... but again, it was too expensive. All the fees we had to pay made going to the cenote less entertaining. It was beautiful, but the time to swim was limited and again, you had to rent life jackets for 90MXN. At least, the weather was perfect for swimming. We then had the Mexican buffet we were promised in the itinerary, which was probably my least favourite part of this tour. I forgot drinks weren't included in the package, so after accidentally grabbing a water, one of the restaurant workers aggressively checked my bracelet and said it wasn't part of my package. After I left, he made sure that I paid (which I did in coins), and was so strict about it. I'm fine with paying, but at least be more polite about it. The food was also meh.... our resort had much BETTER Mexican food. After the cenote, we finally made way to what we were the most excited about: Chichén Itzá. Our tour guide gave us some solid tips, but then promoted bug spray for the mosquitos, which they sold for 200MXN. On the bus, they charged us $80USD for my partner and I for the entrance fee, but when I looked at the ticket at the heritage site, the actual cost ended up being $45 Canadian Dollars. So, again, we were fooled into paying more. I did enjoy Chichén Itzá the most. The tour guide was informative, but I honestly wanted more time there. We were only at the site for 2 hours, not 3 like the listing stated. Plus, entering the site was wild because all the vendors try to get your attention and sell, essentially, the same things. Maybe I would've purchased a souvenir there if I hadn't been hounded all morning and afternoon already by the tour guides and the cenote/Valladolid vendors. Anyway, my partner and I did enjoy this part of the tour the most despite everything. Another good thing was that our driver, Jorge, was super fast! We got to Playa Del Carmen under two hours, but this was the cherry on top because guess what?! We had to get off the bus with our tour guide to wait for ANOTHER bus to bring us to Fifth Avenue.... we were dropped off at some random street across a gas station, and we waited for 15 minutes. This left me even more stressed because we weren't familiar with the area, and we had a dinner reservation to get to at 9pm. It was 8 something when the bus finally got us. This was all after tipping the tour company generously. I'm honestly really upset by this experience because Chichen Itza was supposed to be a highlight from this trip. Although everyone was nice, I'm not happy with all the upselling and scams. I get everyone has to make a living in Mexico because I also come from a place facing the same conditions, but this was excessive. I definitely won't be doing this tour again, and if anything, book a private tour or maybe book an excursion with your resort.
What they do not share with you is how much extra money you need for this! They stop at expensive shops for you to use the bathroom, and the stores hound you to buy.! Then they do not tell you to bring bug replant, and you can buy from them to avoid malaria!!! Then they ask for feedback and look at response in front of you! They bring tip basket and stand by your seat until you make a deposit… very unprofessional in my opinion…
This tour was amazing!! Long day but so worth it!!! Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly we had an amazing time, would recommend!
This tour was amazing!!! Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. It's a long day but so worth it. I recommend it
I paid for the Chichen Itza, Cenote and Valladolid tour for me and my 3 companions. They told me the pick up time was 7:20 am and to be there 10 minutes before. I arrived at exactly 7:10 am and they already left. I called the contact who contacted me from Cancun Sightseeing, never responded, never called me back. I called Expedia who I booked the tour from and they contacted them, but they did not want to refund my money. Bassictly they stoled it. NEVER trust this company. Very irresponsible.
This regards the Cancun-sightseeing Chichen-Itza tour, which we booked through Expedia … Firstly, the staff on the bus were not “tour guides”, so much as sales people for various souvenir vendors, visits to which formed a large part of the tour. Ultimately the main and side attractions did not disappoint. Chichen Itza is fabulous, and swimming in the cenote (underground sink hole) was a unique and memorable experience. But the commercial tourist crap in between put a damper on the whole thing. Yes, tour guides the world over take their customers to businesses from which they get some kind of kick-back, and poor countries need the revenue, but this was way overboard. It started on the bus, when the staff tried to sell us on some cheesy replica of a Mayan calendar at our first stop and did a sales job for the tequila vendor at the same place. It continued when we got there, with the guide/huckster giving long spiels on other souvenir trinkets we should buy, then leading us to the previously touted tequila shop. The cenote that all this retailing was attached to was almost an after-thought (for the sales-minded guides). These characters also provided the so-called “guided tour” when we finally got to Chichen Itza, telling us virtually nothing about the history, construction or life of the place, while offering up a few fun facts. The tour culminated at - where else - a souvenir stand. The tour ended with a totally unnecessary stop. Vallalodid is a not unpleasant but wholly unremarkable so-called “colonial town.” The main reason for going there was to visit a jewellery and - wait for it - tequila store the tour companies have some deal with, and that was filled with a stunning number of annoying salesmen. Going there made an already long day even longer - 13.5 hours in our case - that meant we missed our dinner reservation. My recommendation? If you can possibly afford it, hire someone independent to provide a private tour where you set the itinerary. Meanwhile, shame on Expedia for partnering with these guys.
A day of hell I don’t anyone to have to endure. Booked months ago and contacted within 48hrs to confirm pick up point and time. They moved the time from 7:00am to 6:45am but to be there 10 mins early. No problem. So we get there at 6:30 where 30 people are waiting. Get on he bus but we are the only 2 who get on the bus. Wait until 7:15 to leave. Apparently waiting on no shows. We then stop at 14 different hotels to pick up passengers which takes 2 hours!! Yes 2 hours! If I had been told this, I would have ubered to the last pick up and not had to get up at 5:30 to get there. Finally hit the road at 9:05. The bus seats are plush and comfortable but the alley way very, very narrow. Ishmael (guide) then proceeds to try and sell bugs spray, sunscreen and Mayan calendars to us. Arrive at Cenote at 10:22. Told we are spending 2 hours there - lunch and swim. Have to walk through massive shop being hassled to buy. Swim was glorious, setting stunning but lunch pretty poor. Leave at 12:45pm. Drive to Chichen Itza and arrive at 2:15. It’s crowded and hot. Enter at about 2:45. Finally 8 hours after the start! Tour for about an hour then free time. The site is stunning (vendors everywhere trying to sell their wares). I understand the need for the Mexican people to make a living but it’s intense. Leave at 4:30pm and onto Valladoid (town) and arrive at 5:25 and leave at 6pm. More shops. I’m exhausted and very annoyed by now so I discuss with guide and ask which is the first drop off as I am not going to endure another 2 hours of drop offs. He tells me ours is the last drop off. I explain that this is absolutely unacceptable and I will be taking an uber from first drop off. He calls management. At first drop off he has arranged for another bus to drop us off so we get on a mini van who drops us off second. Back at hotel at 9:45pm. 15 hours from beginning. The website says 12 hours but in reality it would have been 16-17 if we had stayed on the original bus. Hint to organisers: visit Chichen Itza first. This is the main reason as to why people are on the tour. The other places are just bonuses. Organise 3 pick up and drop offs points only. Don’t try and sell things on the bus. Be clear on the website the amount of time in each place and order. Be clear that cigarettes will be removed from your bag at entry to site. Acknowledgments: I understand Chichen Itza is 2-2.5hrs away from Cancun. Ishmael was a good guide - funny and responsive to my issues with the tour. Good driver for a long day. Seeing Chichen Itza was to be an important part of our journey through Mexico. This day really soured our experience of what should have been an incredible experience. Cost $137 AU$ for 2 people plus $40 US$ each person for entry to site. So $270 for the day. Hire of locker and life jacket small fee $10 -1 person.
This all day tour was as expected and advertised. We had a pick up from Hotel then transported to a Tour Bus. First visited Cenote Hubiku then Chichen Itza and finally town of Valladolid. The Tour guide and staff were very helpful, spoke good English and were informative. Good value for the money and timely. Finally dropped off at the hotel 9pm local time.
They charge a lot of money for no reason and they are very uncomfortable imagine charging you administration fees after booking online what kind of scam is that
The whole day was hectic and unmanaged. The Tour guide was responsible for 2 different language group which I am sympathetic to but it was handled poorly. Instead of going through all the instructions with one language and then going through the instructions in another language. She bounced back and forth every few sentences between Spanish and English. By the time I realized she was talking in English again, it was already halfway through her statements and back to Spanish. Phrases like "We meet back where we leave" are very vague. Leave the bus? Leave the group? Also when? My wife and I had no idea what time to meet back up with the tour guide or where to meet. At one point I was seriously worried about being left behind. Which wouldn't have been a problem if the tour group stuck together but the majority of the sites were "Ok we are here, go explore". The tour felt more like a bus drive than a guided tour. I think we had a total of 45m over the 8 hours we were in a guided tour guide group. There are lots of viator options to go to Chichen Itza, pick a different one.
It was great just needs more time on the last location. If posible also offer water in the bus, but it was amazing, would recommend
This was a very good tour and I recommend it. The hotel pickup was super convenient and the bus was airconditioned and comfortable. The tour guide, Angel Gabriel, was fabulous. I really enjoyed seeing the Temple of Kukulkan and learning some Mayan history from Angel. The cenote was great and was my favorite part of the trip, but the buffet lunch left something to be desired. I would have preferred more authentic Mayan cuisine. I did feel a little rushed at some points, but I do understand that we had a schedule to keep. I also recommend taking a sweatshirt for the cold AC in the bus, and a towel for the cenote unless you want to rent one, which was $2 USD.
The first stop was a waste of time , just a sales stop really but lunch was good after that it’s amazing but it’s all day so be prepared . You will be in awe of the pyramid we bought most of our souvenirs there from the locals all on the cheap . The Cenote was amazing but wish that part was longer you are only given a hour and takes about 20 min to just get your stuff to get in . The tour guide and bus driver are on point guided us well got us
What a great experience! Sergio was amazing and so knowledgeable. He also assisted when I got a little dehydrated and overheated. He took great care of us and I would highly recommend!
I was very excited about this tour. I texted and called the tour guide early on the day of to no avail. I then called viator customer support to try and check in with the tour operators. They were also unable to get in contact with the tour operator. In short, I ended up wasting a whole morning on my vacation waiting for them to simply no show and ignore all calls and messages. Horrible company. Do not recommend.
Trip was a lot of fun, picked up on time, rode in an air conditioned bus all day (which was clutch since it was over 100 degrees, without added humidity!) Cenote was perfect, clean and had plenty of time to relax and enjoy. The food was amazing! Our tour guides were very knowledgeable and helpful. Would highly recommend this tour.
Great trip. Everything went well for us. First stop, Cenote was refreshing wish we could have stayed longer. The lunch was delicious. Second, Chichen Itza, it was very hot but worth it. Last the Mexican town, was do cute and we had Mexican Crepes. Marquesitas they were delicious. Its a ling day but all worth it!
The travel company and the bus tour company were horrible. The AC at the back was not working, and the bus tour company did not try to help. The back of the bus smelt of urine from the toilet. I will not recommend this company for any of the tour.
Great day out , I enjoyed it It would have been good to provide some water on the long journey and also for the lunch. Also the life jackets for the cenote, rather than having to pay for everything separately. It should all be part of the cost as it’s already an expensive day trip. Maybe a list of things to bring with you I’m not sure if it was already there in the information. Thanks for a good experience ❤️
The tour was amazing and the tour guide was very informative. Highly recommend. Ashame we could not climb the stairs of the temple. And it was extremely hot, recommend a hat or umbrella.
I thought the tour would start off at Chichén Itzá but it actually started off at Hubiku where they try to sell you jewelry made by the community there and then you have to go through a gift shop before you could break off to lunch, tequila tasting or the Cenote, you could do whichever you want in whatever order. Just so you know, we didn't know, if you want to step into the Cenote, you have to clean yourself off first of any lotions or sprays before you step in and then when you step out you have to spray yourself with natural bug spray again because of the environment you're in so no Off bug spray, so they sell you bug spray on the bus or you could buy some at Hubiku. The lunch was good and buffet style, the food was included but not the drinks so for four of us, it cost $10 USD for 1 soda each. When you leave, they try to sell you more stuff at the shop since you have to go through the gift shop, they made my mom pay for a broken item that she accidentally bumped into so be careful lol. It was a ride to Chichén Itzá and you have a million people trying to sell you all types of things before you go in and when you're on your way to see Chichén Itzá, just so you know, there is shade but it is minimal and it is very hot so bring water, hat, umbrella, fans, anything to help cool you off. When leaving Chichén Itzá, you have to pass through the vendors trying to sell you stuff outside and then through a gift shop as well so everybody is trying to sell you stuff. Then we took a short trip to Valladolid to use the bathroom and to use it, you have to go through this shop where they try to sell you stuff, jewelry, tequila, trinkets, you name it so the theme of the trip overall was people trying to sell you stuff. Overall though Chichén Itzá was gorgeous, we learned a lot about it
It was an all day tour. Navarro was our tour guide and Jonathan and Jeronimo were our drivers. The AC stop working on the bus but the company was prompted in sending out a rescue bus. The tour was very fun, informative, and we got to see a lot within a day. Totally recommend if you are looking for a day of adventure away from the resort.
The tour was well organized. The guide was friendly and had good knowledge, time management was good. We had a great time
Was a great trip, our tour guide Rodrigo is very knowledgable, so passionate about Mayan culture as he is one of the locals that make it extra special ,and also good at taking nice photo. Jorge did a great job driving and ensuring our stuff are safe. Dont bring go pro in Chechin Itza for those you have to pay extra $50. Though it was an early tour its still get super hot. Bring your own water, umbrella if you could. I saw some people using it. Over all it was a very nice tour specially if you have rodrigo and jorge. Clap clap!!
The tour was good and Angel was a great guide. We only had 2 hours at chichen itza and not the 3 advertised, but as we went to the cenote first we arrived there at 1pm right at the hottest part of the day. It felt like it would have been better to go there first in the morning as it was so hot. However, on approach to the cenotes began the selling of items. We were told that our bags would be searched and any non-biodegradable sun cream or mosquito repellent would be confiscated so that we should buy theirs. Most people bought the mosquito repellent off them for $250mxn. Obviously our bags were not checked for these items, and they had the same mosquito repellent on sale at chichen itza for $95mxn. This was the first time in our travels in Mexico we really felt as though we were ripped off and it tainted our day somewhat.
Tour guide Gaby was phenomenal. Great experience for a good price considering we went during spring break. Wasn’t over crowded. Food was delicious. Would absolutely recommend.
The bus ride was very comfortable and the guides very informative. The lunch at the Cenote was great ,Chichen Itza was marvelous wish there was more time to explore.
Meeting point offered me through your website wasn't available to trip company. They asked me to pay extra 30 USD for collection from my Hotel or go to other meeting point which was 10 km away from my place. In my opinion this was unfair and for this reason I don't recommend Viator to book any trips. Secondly , guide from Sightseeing company Tony wasn't polite and kind to me. Other two Guys were brilliant and helpful. Lastly, stop in Valladolid is a waste of time, Church is nice outside but you not alout to see onsite. Apart from that above all the rest was amazing. I am recommending to visit Chichen Itza but maybe with different tour provider. Thanks
Chichen Itzá is amazing! Hubiku Cenote is cool. I just wish we spend more time at each place. The tour guides were selling too much along the way:(
The cenote and the ancient temple of the sun are superb, Valladolid is actually nice too but time is pretty short to see everything carefully. Food is tasty, you have to try cochinita pibil, that is one of the typical plates in Yucatan.
Worth visiting. Make sure to do with a guide so as you can understand the history of it. Our guide Navarro made it a fun journey as well as a memorable experience. Mexico is very very safe. No need to worry. Just don’t go to wrong places as one would normally do anyways in their own country they come from. Just common sense.
Tour guide tony was excellent and the entire tour was amazing. The tour company didn't give us any update about pick up time and we had to call and follow up multiple times with them on day of the tour.
Actually no lunch was provided (the lunch is supposed to be included),and there was also a mistake for dropping off.
The trip was fantastic! More information about the Maya than we were expecting. The only negative was that we had the back row seats on the 18 passenger van and we felt every bump on the road.
Chichen Itza is a must do and this tour company managed to provide a wonderful guided tour and enough time to explore solo. It is a long day but worth it as the bus is comfy and you can rest easily between stops. The cenote and trip to Valledolid were also fantastic and insightful. Thanks you Sergio and team for a fantastic, fun and informative day.
Had a tour with Samuel, Angel and Sezar. They have great sense of humor and they are informative about the tour places, Chichen Itza and Cenote. My friend and I enjoyed great time and learned a lot.
