My 2nd time visiting Chichen Itza. The new visitor center is much nicer than the old one. Our guide was wonderful, the over all venue and main temple is incredible. There are many merchants trying to sell items but they were not as pushy about in 2026 as they were in 2021. If you have a rental car, definitely drive there from Canun. Its an easy and safe drive on a 4 lane Highway. The little town outside the park looks more sketchy than it really is. Drive directly to the main entrance, people near the entrance may try to have you park on their property. My only annoyance is with Viator ticketing communication. Purchasing through them did save me a few dollars. But it Was Not Clear in the app how I obtained the admission ticket. The App showed a page with a Barcode but also stated "This is not your ticket" Download your ticket, which just puts the user in an very annoying loop. In reality I just needed to find the Tour Operator's desk, to left of the ticket windows, and show them the page with QR Code.

Ticket was never sent .we. Had to buy a new ticket when we got to the destination.your operator didn’t answer phone. Very stressful
We were stuck on shutdown highway for two half hours. We messaged the tour guide along the way, they assured us that we would still be able to do the tour. Once we arrived an hour late - then said we lost our tour and tickets. DO NOT BOOK with tjos company. You can get tickets on way in or at entrance alot cheaper.
Was able to reach company with questions. Easy process to get our skip-the-line tickets. We highly recommend.
Smooth system with one glitch. After I ordered the tickets, I had to wait until the day before to receive the actual park entry tickets and have them printed at the hotel. Would have been much better if I could have just printed the tickets when I place the order. Also, there were two tickets and it was unclear what ticket was for what.
Advance tickets were the best! Allowed us to walk right in! Plan for heat and crowds. Ignore ALL parking vendors until you get to the actual venue gate!
Great to see the ruins. Commercial vendors everywhere kind of ruin the feeling of the ruins. Go early or late afternoon. Less people.
This is a complete scam. The "skip the line" perk is completely unnecessary. Buy your tickets from a local guide instead and you'll be paying half as much with a personal guided tour from one of the great licensed local tour guides.
Not worth it , there are no long lines to skip ( for which you are paying a premium) and the Guide only turns up at 9 am so if you come early at eight, why wait for the guide and miss your opportunity of seeing the main attractions with fewer tourists? The persons at the meeting point also did not recognise the voucher but luckily finally someone did . I got the tickets and could leave to explore the site early without waiting for the guide.
Scammers selling the Chichen Itza tickets twice the price on the internet without any services. I was looking for official tickets but turns out they just scam the hell out of you. When I called them they said I paid for the service but there is no service only the tickets. Totally scamming. 158 USD while it is 64 USD. They have no shame.
My experience with amigo tours was very good my toyr guide was frank and the driver was richard both very kind. when I was waiting for the group to come back from the ruins the driver let me on thw bus early to cool off. And frank is very funny and interactive gives you lots of information. The visit was around 2 hours a place the bus ride to each of them were 45 min to 1 hour. The bus atmosphere is clean and even has a bathroom. Crown size was 30 people full bus. But if u want your can go alone. The fee for one person was around 130 cad. Very good trip!!!
Better to buy tickets in advance with extra cost and save time on long queue. The park is great and many people.
Unable to print tickets whilst on holiday as only received the day before use. This caused problems at the entrance to Chichen Itza as the attendant eventually had to scan my mobile phone.
Our guide ‘Aldi/Audi’ was rude and unfriendly. He clearly loved his own voice but everyone on our bus could not understand him. On entering the site we lost some of our group and he just shrugged his shoulders and carried on talking and talking at us in bad English until he got a call from someone to go and collect them! He talked in unclear English all the way round and didn’t care we couldn’t understand him. There was no time to look round any of the site on our own and we were given ‘5 minutes’ to look at the stalls on the way back to the coach. This was all so that he could then make us spend loads of time at a stone shop down the road. We then had lunch where the drinks were a rip off. All in all there are many other tour companies through which to see this Mayan ruin but our guide ruined our experience.
I booked with amigo tours and got verryyyy lucky by getting juam. He was perfect and very fun and made the whole way very very very exciting, I love u juam and very proud of u by quitting smoking and drinking thank u for sharing that with us and motivating people to do better. We love u juam wish u all the best god bless u and ur little twins and family
I dont know why yous call this skip the line since everything went slow as.. To be honest I dont really understand the wierd system. I booked my tickets on something which completely looked like the official Chichen Itza site, but apparently you get tickets via another sketchie company. They promise you the tickets on WhatsApp or email the day before, but in stead you need to go to a small office thingy location on site at 0830, while Chichen Itza opens at 0800.... After several emails we lucky were able to be there at 0800, but it still took them 15 minutes to get the tickets. We payed a lot more for service and fast lane but I reckon it's a big scam with a misleading website.
Entrance requires TWO tickets per person… one for Mexican Government and one for Mayan People… important to understand! Thrilled to skip the long line for such a busy tourist site!
Beautiful Experience to see the Chichén Itzá Pyrimid ! Best archeological site! Very informative and creative tour! 100% reccomend!
I booked the wrong day and tried to get a refund, but they denied my request for a refund. So I paid to go, but didn't get to.
Scam! The ticket didn't specify it was in USD, and I paid triple what I would pay had I had purchased from the official place. Steer clear of this company. I waited 20 minutes and got the ticket from the ticket counter instead. Queueing would be better than paying triple from these fraudsters. Nowhere on the add does it specify it is in USD, we purchased thinking it was in Pesos. I definitely wouldn't recommend.
Truly amazing to visit Chichen Itza. Viator tickets were cost effective. Would have been helpful to have better directions to know where to pickup tickets and given advice in advance to bring lots of water, hats and maybe an umbrella. It is very hot there and there is no shade.
BEWARE!!! Total scam. Real price is twice as little. This price does not skip you any lines. Total scam. Hard to find the kiosk. No sign, no information anywhere. Then they give you ticket and you stay in the same line.
Don‘t book this. The description says „Go to the shop called Calendario Maya“ to retrieve your voucher, but the „shop“ is not at the main entrance and therefore we did not find it. Better be there early and buy the tickets from the official booth at the entrance.
This was horrible, I do not recommend this. I bought the ticket to be faster in Chichen Itza, however I lost 2 hours of my time there, because viator didn't send me any ticket, in the place they asked me if I have the ticket with qr code which I didn't get. So they told me I have to buy normal ticket and send me many times away. After two hours trying to solve the problem, being stressed, angry and hungry I finally got the chance to see my name is on the list, but still I needed to fight for the entrance ticket as I didn't receive the qr code from viator. At the I didn't enjoy Chichen Itza because of all this and I didn't have time to visit more places I planned. I could also buy normal ticket on the place, they were selling them all day. Shame on viator. I lost so much time and money for bad service. They should show some balls and return me the money as they ruined my experience... Also mind the local guides told me many people have problems with viator recently.
Ticket purchase in advance is a good idea for any site or museum if available. Lines move quickly and not standing in line and waiting.
These tickets were a complete scam. Not only was there no option to skip the line, but once we got to the counter, the staff member informed me that these tickets are not valid. So I paid for tickets that don’t exist an extra for a feature that does not exist. I will be requesting a complete refund immediately. Do not waste your money or your time or your efforts on this listing on Tripadvisor I am reporting it as a scam.
Very poor communication, ticket was not easy to obtain, evening signing up for their app, all l got was confirmation and lack luster instructions to Had guided tour with Get Your Guide, highly recommend , she helped me immensely to get my ticket at entrance, and was an excellent tour gyide6 Go with professionals
Entrance ticket is cheaper with the tour agents there at macchu and at the ticket desk. Don’t not purchase this price it’s a ripe off. 571 peso cost for entrance.
Only buy this as a last resort - it’s twice the entrance fee at Chichen Itza. No one told us that we’d need to pay in pesos and we didn’t have enough with us. 🤦🏻♀️ Even if you pay with a credit card, you can’t put the entire amount on it, you have to pay a proportion of it in pesos in cash. I’d paid for a tour package and was NOT made aware of the above. Make sure to bring $70 USD in pesos to cover 2 tickets, or you’ll have to pay double here. It was our only option to get in. 😢
Rip off and stay away . You will still need to walk in front of the ticket counter and there is a store which is near the checkin line and there you get a slip which needs to be exchanged for a ticket at another counter . I would prefer to pay half the price and there is really no line to skip ! We were there on a Sunday and It is a free access for the Mexicans but still there was no line at all . If you plan on getting a guide at the location , skip this and the guide will help you buy the tickets .
Did the job perfectly. The only thing is that their office is not very visible; it’s on the right side of the main turnstiles but there is always somebody who can show you the way. Very quick service !
Although chichen itza is great using this company was NOT a good experience. I'm very upset that VIATOR said guide was included in the price and CHARGED me double what they charge at the skip the line ticket office in the MAYA CALENDARIO shop. No guide and a 100% commission. I'd have expected a 10% or 15% commission. I'll be writing this review on Line. "VIATOR IS A RIP OFF SCAM" and I'll recommend to simply go to the shop and pay offthen find a guide as there's always one available. Don't waste your time online just skip the line and go to the shop.
The skip the line tickets to Chichen Itza was great and we were able to enjoy the experience without waiting. Also, viator was the only site where we were able to get tickets for the next day. All other sites, including the official one, were sold out. Viator saved our day!
When there are no lines in the ticket corner it doesn’t worth to pay for this service (double price of standard ticket) but you never know when you will find a line in Chichen Itza.
We have arrived late knowing the ‘normal line’ should not be that long at that time. The was still a line so we felt good about saving time. Viator provider did have our tickets available quickly. But it took 15min for them to go get the government tax! Why they did not get it ready in advance?
Very well paid service. We didn't take any lines and everything worked out! Chichen Itza is a worderfull place to visit. A lot of history and beauty.
Due to COVID restricitons, Mexican authorities are only allowing a limited people into the Chichen Itza site each day. Many of the reviewers have referred to this skip the line ticket as a ripoff, but what you are paying for is peace of mind. The entrance to Chichen Itza is about $25 and this skip the line ticket is about $50 - therfore if you arrive early in the morning when there are plenty of tickets available you may feel annoyed that you payed twice as much as you would have had to, however, if you arrive after all of that day's tickets have been sold out and are turned away after taking the 2-hour bus ride from Merida or the 3-hour trip from Cancun you will be kicking yourself for not paying the extra $25. (As I was leaving the site around noon I witnessed several angry frustrated people after they learned they could not go in.) So, if you are planning on arriving after 10am, I would strongly recommend buying this skip the line ticket. Picking up the tickets was easy and fast, and the people running the skip the line stand were very friendly and helped me find a guide.
When we arrived at Chichen Itza we had only booked the tickets to enter. While there we booked a tour with tour guide Pablo. Pablo was an amazing guide and gave a lot of history of the ruins, culture and Mayan civilization. I truly recommend getting Pablo as your tour guide or even booking a tour guide. It makes the experience so much better!!
Slipping the line on a busy day is a big plus. We were doubly fortunate however because we arrived before they started admitting visitors for the day. I love the convenience and quality service Viator provides and would use them world wide for, booking all our special tours.
SCAM ALERT!!! These tickets were useless. After going to the gate as directed, we had to wait 20 min for someone to come back with our tickets. We were then forced to wait in the huge long regular line and they wouldn’t even take the tickets we were given! They absolutely refused to let us skip the line. It would have been much faster and cheaper to just buy tickets there. Don’t do this!! Our schedule was tight, so we barely had time to see the ruins. We were also treated very poorly by the staff onsite. I followed up with the ticket company afterward and they basically said that you can’t “skip the line” as the local authorities have to check the tickets at the main gate. Total scam!!
I overpaid almost double to "skip the line" and ended up taking longer than if I had just paid at the ticket office normal price
there isnt a line. we parked in 5 mins, another 5 to get tickets. my wife accidentally ordered the wrong tour day, so within an hour of purchasing the tour, we wrote and asked them for a refund, and they kept the entire balance. total bs! save your money!
Lack of signs to find the : "skip the line" area at the entrance. Not friendly staff making this experience is close to experimenting what it may be kidnapping. As born Mexican i see sadly how we are losing this world wonder, and we should allow professional not mexican-origin companies to run this wonder before we destroy it.
Delivered as promised but not really worth it for us. We walked up a little early, and they grabbed tickets for us while we stood there looking awkward. It took them less than five minutes, while they tried to sell us on getting a guide. I'd have rather spent the five minutes in line myself and saved some money. Might be worth it on a very busy day or during a peak time.
A Scam, A Trick, and Ripped OFF either by TRIPADVISOR, VIATOR, and probably by the Amigos Tour in Mexico. Purchased tickets on Dec 5th 10pm with advertised line (book now, pay later, 24 hrs cancellation) for this advance to be for Dec 6th ticket to Chichen. We arrived to find that the tickets were not purchased yet and we were asked by the guide to wait there for him in line and he will get the money to buy the tickets. There were not a long line as described and reading from the reviews, many also noticed that there were no line. (SCAMMER 1) Upon waiting, I look at the price and the guy how much in USD. He told me it's about 25usd (we paid 52 usd for the prepaid, cut the line price) with cut throated price. (RIPPED OFF) Yet we pay for the VIP service and still have to wait in short line for him to purchase the tickets. Therefore I told the guy why is such a big gap and he cannot answer since it was through Amigos or Viator that he is working. I don't blame him and I show him the VIATOR reservation. Police was right there while we were in line and I show the police too. They speak in Spanish and the manager of the group came out to tell me to cancel my VIATOR reservation since it is stated 24hrs cancellation (my booking is at 10pm the night before and I requested cancel at 1pm the following day) Yet, I was denied because the reason is they already purchased the tickets on behalf of me. (A TRICK) Once I cancelled online successfully (being processed) I was told by the same guy to go ahead and purchase the normal ticket price which is 25usd per person. We have 6 people so I gave him 160usd cash so he can give to the ticket clerks. He was nice and even offer to hold on to my tripod outside so I can go inside without paying a n extra fee. After I left Chichen, I received email from VIATOR that they cannot honor the refund because it was 24 hours (NO 24 Hours yet since it will be 10pm but no no no. Then they come back to tell me that the ticket were already purchased - lie lie lie. Anyhow, they refused to honor my refund of $361 usd for 6 tickets. I already paid $160 usd upfront at the site. So now I am loosing $361 usd over this scammer from VIATOR - a subsidiary of TRIPADVISOR. ASHAMED ASHAMED for being in the tourist business this long and yet collaborate with con counterpart. I am not sure about Amigos tour since I tried to call both VIATOR and Amigos so no one there to answer. I like to know how I can report it to MEXICO/CANCUN tourist bureau and also American Business Bureau for "false advertisement & false description" to consumer.
Not worth buying a skip the line pass. There was no line at all. At the counter they are charging 495 Pesos for adult. paying $52 USD felt like a rip off after seeing there is literally no queue.
The service could really use some automation and better signage . When we went there they did not have a computer system to pull up our names so luckily we had screenshotted our ticket details . If you do this take a screenshot of the details.
Of course, Chichen Itza was magnificent. And the ship the line ticket was worth it because the regular line was blocks long by the time we arrived near 11 a.m. However. the tiny ticket office was not well marked..infact, not marked at all with anything that siad Trip advisor or Amigo Tours. I spent 20 minutes asking people where we coudl redeem or email before someone told me,"I think it's that little door just to the right of the final entrance"...not in the lentrance lane but in the plaza next to it only ten feet away. The office was the size of a closet but the people were very nice, found a folder that had tickets and was marked Amigo Tours, and got us into a very short line.. They also went inside the park and arranged a guide for us. All in all very worth it but the email should include a SMALL MAP to help people find where to exchange their tickets!!!!
We booked ahead of time and my card was charged before I even went out to enjoy the place. The bus booking was booked as well so couldn't get out there cheaply. Really it should be 0 out of 5 stars.
Cool place...too many tour buses. Can't feel the energy. Mayans should be disgusted. Save your time and money. Plenty of other places to see.
