Esther and Juan Carlos were the best tour guides I’ve ever had. They were so knowledgeable and super funny. Gave us a lot of time to do our own things but gave us a lot about the history, language and culture or the Mayans and area. They accommodated us of 6 including my brother who is special needs (can walk but has a very hard time). They also were very accommodating in helping get our tickets, snacks, translating and warning us about dangerous areas and vendors. Highly recommend booking through them!

Our tour guide and driver, Esther and Angel were a great team. They took care of us from doorstep to doorstep, and made our tour fun and very informative.
AMAZING!!!!! Wow!!!! I have high expectations as it is, and the bus tour guide, Martinez, hit it out of the park!! We learned about so much culture and truly enjoyed every bit of this excursion!!! Also, Santiago, was AWESOME! His tour of Chichen Itza was perfect - his knowledge what made the excursion!!!! I would truly recommend this excursion- we had the BeST time!!!!
Our tour to Chichén Itzá, Cenote Selva Maya, and Valladolid was absolutely unforgettable—thanks to our incredible guide Esther and our wonderful driver Antonio. Esther was warm, knowledgeable, and engaging. She shared so much rich history and interesting facts throughout the tour, making the ancient ruins of Chichén Itzá come alive in a meaningful way. At each stop, she was organized, informative, and thoughtful—making sure we were comfortable and got the most out of every moment. Antonio was an excellent driver, handling the long 2 hour and 45 minute journey from our hotel with complete professionalism. We always felt safe and relaxed, and he kept everything running smoothly behind the scenes. From start to finish, this tour was well-paced, beautifully curated, and made extra special by both Esther and Antonio. Highly recommend this experience if you’re looking for an enriching and stress-free way to explore this beautiful part of Mexico!
10 hours sitting on a bus. Tour was not 12 hours it was 15 1/2. I just wanted to be back to my hotel after about 10 hours I didn’t even want to do the last stop. Lunch was at 400 after being given breakfast at 730.
They changed the pick up location late in the evening the day before the tour and told me that they can’t pick me up from my hotel and will not refund the money
Their pick and drop service is very confusing. Multiple tour operators are involved and make things very confusing for drop off and pickup time.
This tour was excellent! Make sure you bring your bathing suit because the cenotaph is spectacular as well as the rest of the tour!
It was one of the most amazing tours Ive been on! They took us through a Mayan village where we got off for lunch and a traditional Mayan massage and shot. It was too cool to see. After we made our way to the beautiful Chichen Itza. They gave us about two hours to explore and they provided really good information about the ruins. Next, we went to the Cenote and it was exceptionally beautiful. We did not swim but it was just as great seeing it. Last, we went to the city of Valladolid. There we got to see dancing, eat Mexican dessert, and see some of the amazing culture this country has to offer! 100/100 would recommend. The three tour guides were amazing!
Esther and Roberto were fantastic. I highly recommend their day tour of chichenitza, the cenote, and ik balam. Five star info and service.
On time and very well organized. Will book another tour with them in the future. Very reasonably priced but excellent service. The guides were very informative. Well worth the money!
The Guide was Very good (Carlos). The food as well. The only stuff i did not like was 3 hours on the bus. You spend more time travelling then knowing the places.
My family and I booked this tour for our summer trip and was extremely disappointed. We felt lied to and scammed by the description and completely dismissed by the tour guide throughout the trip. We hope to warn others so they don't make the same mistake we did. First, starting with the hotel pick up. We were asked to meet at Coco Bongo which was 3 blocks away from where we started. After that we were then led an additional 5 blocks to get to the actual bus, so don't except to be picked up in front of our near your hotel at all. Second, we had a massive issue with not being given things that were included in the package when we bought it. For example, there was no breakfast, no water, and no umbrellas offered. The tour guide refused to sell us water unless we bought their $20 drinks and water package per person but none of my family drink, so we ended up buying water for $8 at Chichen Itza. When we relayed this to the travel agency, they said we had only purchased the Basic package but 1) our booking confirmation sent to us had listed these benefits and 2) nowhere did it distinguish the difference between Basic and other packages which made us feel we were being lied to and scammed. Third, we specifically requested an English tour guide when given the option to because none of us speak Spanish. We obviously would've been okay with English translations accompanying Spanish explanations. However, the tour guide spoke almost exclusively in Spanish and scattered random English phrases throughout. This made it extremely difficult to follow because we were picking up words interspersed throughout really fast paced Spanish. We asked the tour guide if he could try to speak a few sentences of Spanish and a few of English to make it easier to follow but he said he could not. As a result, we were left completely confused and in the dark not knowing what was going on, when to meet, etc for the rest of the tour. We ended up having to hire an English tour guide at Chichen Itza for $60. By the end of the tour, it felt like the tour guide had completely given up on providing English translations. Fourth, they changed the order of the tour listed on the website in order to take us shopping first at a location with insane mark ups (~90%) because they knew we could get cheaper prices at Chichen Itza. It's fine to take tourists shopping, but to keep us there for 40 minutes and to alter the described tour timeline for this express purpose was unacceptable to me. Fifth, the cenote we were taken to was NOT Ik Kil or even Suytun and was instead one that was next to the shopping center (Xcajum). This is blatant false advertising and we were extremely frustrated and disappointed especially my son whose only request was that we go swimming in Ik Kil. Even though the cenote was next to the shopping center, we couldn't go swimming because the tour guide disappeared for 40 minutes and we needed him to give us wrist bands. We ended up having less than 90 minutes for both swimming and lunch. All in all, we're usually really lenient and understanding but felt this travel agency and tour took advantage of us, lied to us, and would really advise against anyone else booking with them.
Everything was taken care of guides we're very knowledgeable and very helpful, patient as well. Thanks for everything
A very organized tour and packed with activities. Although we went to visit Chichen Itza after lunch right in the hottest time of the day! I wonder if the visit couldn't be the first thing of the day instead?
First off I will say the tour guides did a solid job. The sites were also beautiful. That’s where any positivity ends. Logistically this was an absolute nightmare. If you are getting picked up from Cancun or anywhere more north, be ready for a 16-18 hour day. This was NOT advertised, as the trip indicates a start time of 7:30am (not true for most departures). Most pissed about this. If we knew what we were truly getting into, there’s not a chance we would have booked this. In the morning, we got picked up by a van that dropped us off on the side of the road in Cancun and we were told to just wait for the tour bus. Immediately we were confused and put off. The bus we got on then proceeded to make 4 stops along the way to chichen itza, which turned this leg into a 5 hour journey (not kidding). On the way home, aside from the fact that the bus makes the same 4 stops, we waited for a half hour for several vans to pick people up in the Tulum area on the side of the road. And no explanation given. It's almost as if they were coordinating the logistics on the fly. Be ready to spend 75% of your time on a bus, and it honestly overshadows how cool the chichen itza and cenotes are.
My friends and I had such a great time! It’s an all day activity, be sure not to plan anything else if you go on this trip! We love how we went to two different cenotes & got to know more of the culture. We loved it!
We appreciate the length of the excursion but waiting in a coffee shop for 45 mins after the 1st leg of the journey was poor. Once invited on the bus it looked like there were no seats for us. After a long discussion in Spanish with others it was sorted but no explanation was given to us. Everyone was looking at us like we shouldn't be on the bus. We were then on the move. I feel there was about 20% English speaking vs Spanish and this reflected in the amount spoken in English. Very little and we didn't get all the information needed. For example they didn't tell us it was MANDATORY to wear life jackets at the cenote. We walked down to the cenote I jumped in and the lifeguards started whistling asking me to get out. Everyone looking at me. This should have been made clear. Going to chichen itza last we felt was poor. This stop should be first. At the end the most English translation we got was about tipping. Very poor to pushing in my personal opinion when the tour guides spoke more in Spanish. I felt obliged to give a tip but wish this could have been given directly to the driver only.
I loved the itinerary and our tour guide was excellent Caesar very informative. The restaurant was very traditional and the food was very good and delivered quickly. I had one small issue and they reached out to me to correct it after and acted very professionally after. My favorite part was the ruins and cenote! I would recommend the tour.
We took a private tour, which was perfectly organized by Jesus from Delta Vacations before I came to Mexico. That was $200 for a car, plus extra for meals and entrances, or guide, if you wish. Overall was very good compared with my previous tour in a big bus. Private driver was knowledgeable and could stop where we wanted and we took as much time as we wanted. We didn’t hire a guide as I was already familiar with Chichen Itza. Also we stopped and discovered Valladolid, which was not done when I visited with a tour bus as part of the tourist group.
Mr. Alan and Mr.Juan Jose made our trip feel very safe thank you so much I definitely recommend this tour very nice and polite people .
Great guides and driver. Did everything to make it suit everyone. Helped me explicitly with my unique food needs
Our guides were very knowledgeable and flexible. We did pay for all inclusive drinks and refills came a bit slowly. The cenote was beautiful with very little traffic. The food was good. Our guide at the ruins was sort of slow so we only had 40 min to walk around on our own. We could’ve easily used the full hour we were expecting. We were then left with 15 min in valladolid which was not enough time at all. We loved our experience, we just wish it could’ve lasted a bit longer.
The cenote and Mayan ruins were magical, but the tour company was horrible. They kept us out for 14 hours, we did not sign up for that.
The experience was great. Very interesting and so much to see - I personally could have used more than a few hours at chichen itza but it was plenty of time to see the main attractions and get the tour. Some tours are 2 or less hours at chichen itza - I would recommend against these. The swim in the cenote was wonderful. This swim was the first stop so plan fast dry clothes or bring towel/change. They will try to upsell you on the bus to include drinks, towels, locker for $18 per person. We were glad we did not pay the additional. It was expensive for our group of 10 and the free drinks were not that expensive anyway (contrary to what they tell you) however we did have to buy a couple towels since there were none to rent. Only complaint is that the order of stops on the viator site did not match what occurred. I really liked the idea of getting to Chichen first but this brought us there close to last. In the end it turned out fine so I am not upset. The order was lunch/cenote then chichen itza then Vollidad plus some bathroom stops in between. I also chose this tour since it went to the Xejum cenote. I did not regret this. It was a beautiful as any and very few people there. All the other tours go to Samaal or Ik Kil. Ik Kil is currently closed for some reason so they all go to Samaal now. I can see how a crowded Cenote would take away the fun of the experience since there is not a ton of space
Our tour guide Christian was great, but the rest of the tour was horrible. Chichen Itza is over 2 hours from Cancun so a long drive there and back was expected, what wasn't expected was a 45 minute stop at some park that had nothing to do with the Myan ruins (should have been 15 minutes for a bathroom break). After that stop we got back on the bus and stopped at a fake Myan River where they tried to sell a bunch of junk and fed us the included lunch which wasn't very good. We spent 3 hours here bored out of our minds while Chichen Itza (what we paid to see) was 2 miles from where we were. By the time we left and got the the ruins we only had 20 minutes of daylight to see everything and the ruins are huge, so it goes without saying that we didn't get to see but a fraction of the site. Don't use this tour company, all they care about is trying to sell you a bunch of junk and crap from their fake Myan site.
Scheduled the Premium tour that included 5 events (Shopping at Cenote, Swimming at Cenote, Lunch at Cenote, Chichen Itza, and finally Valladolid). They were supposed to pick us up at the Ferry Terminal as we were staying on Isla Mujeres. We were there on time and there were a few drivers there, calling off names of people who they were picking up. My husband walked up to one of them and specifically asked if they had our name on their list and they said NO. So I had to call them and they said that they had picked up the wrong people! They came and picked us up and we just made our tour. The tour guide was HORRIBLE. Spoke so fast that we had to pay close attention so we didn't miss when he switched from Spanish to English. Also, since the tour was from 8am to 5pm, he should have explained each event before we arrived but he didn't! He gave all of the info when we were close to the first stop. Before we arrived at the first stop, he talked about how the Mayan Decedents used to make and sell their goods on the side of the road and when no one stopped to buy, the government worked with them so that they could have a "flea market" at Cenote. We bought a couple of small items and when we checked out, they wrote the tour guides name on our receipt. Basically, someone was receiving a kick back! At Cenote, the whole staff disappeared and no one knew where to go! When we finally arrived at Chichen Itza, we were supposed to have a 90 minute guided tour and 90 minutes on our own.... WRONG. We received a rushed 1 hour guided tour from David (horrible), and then had about 1 hour on our own. David didn't answer questions and seemed irritated when questions were asked. Another couple from the tour said that they had gone on this tour several years back and this one was horrible. We sat up front on the bus (the only good thing about the tour), and the staff (guides) dozed off and on all the way to and from Chichen Itza. Some history and information would have been awesome! David was rude and said that if we (the PAYING PASSENGERS) weren't back on time, "too bad, get a taxi". Yes, that's important but he could have been nicer about it. In between the stops, he slept! He gave no additional information to us at all. Basically, the speaking he gave was a sales pitch to buy stuff at the Cenote flea market. We were VERY disappointed that when you step off the bus in Chichen Itza, you are mobbed by vendors trying to sell hats, etc. When you walk through the admission area, there are vendors EVERYWHERE selling the same stuff! When you tell them "no thank you", they still mob you. I understand that they are just trying to make some money but come on, it's ridiculous! What made me so angry is that our tour guide (David) didn't even tell us that there would be an opportunity to shop at Chichen Itza. He made it sound like the only opportunity would be in Cenote. I'm so disappointed because I am positive that the history behind Chichen Itza is amazing. This tour made it so that we will never go back. Our tour included transportation back to the Ferry Terminal. So, the bus stopped on the side of the road and we had to (along with 3 other couples) get into a shuttle van and that van took us to the Ferry Terminal. WOW, crazy!! So, find another tour operator and go, just don't go with this one.
The tour of the Mayan temples was amazing! What made it great was such an awesome tour guide, Christian. He made it fun, very informative, and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend!
We had an excellent day tour with Louis of Tulum and the cenotes! He gave us great information and some inside scoops that made our trip easy and memorable.
+ beautiful places taste food professional guide - pick up me first from hotel, drop off last one... horrible bus, space between seat like for childs... waste long time before lunch to buy souvenirs 25 dollars for special calendar mayas with your date is toooooooo much. guide in bus was talking 90% in spain language 10% english, but when start talk about tips was big change.....
We booked our tour for July 7th. Pick up was at 7:25. We arrived to the lobby at 6:45 and were told by security that the tour guide would check in with security and we would be told when they arrived. We waited well over an hour and a half, without any word. The bus came and went without us knowing. I tried calling then since 5 am, because it looked like it was going to rain and we wanted to make sure the tour was still happening. I sat on hold for an hour and 20 minutes while getting ready. The hotel called and instantly got through, to which the only solution floated was that we could take a taxi and try to catch up to the tour or rebook for $50 USD. We couldn't do either, as we had to take a 20 minute taxi, and they told us that they were 10 minutes out from the location and they wouldn't wait for us. This was one of our last days in Mexico. Left a sour taste in our mouths of just how unsympathetic everyone is here. They act as if 250 USD is nothing and that a $40 USD taxi ride or $50 USD rebooking fee shouldn't be an issue. I've never felt so taken advantage of, and would recommend anyone wanting to book an excursion go somewhere else. They do not care and I can only imagine what the tour would be like, had we been able to go, considering how they treated us.
Be warned this trip took 13 1/2 hours in total, excluding an hour and a half of us waiting at our hotel before we had confirmation of our collection time. The actual travel time on the coach is nearly 8 hours, which with 50 people on the coach included two hours to collect them from all the different hotels. The actual visit to Chichin Itza was well worth it. As the seventh UNESCO wonder of the modern world, it truly is a remarkable place. It is definitely worth having a tour guide. Though ours was more interested in the spiritual and cultural side and put a little less focus on the actual archaeological details and use of the site. On the day we visited the temperature, even at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, was searingly hot. Please note there were no opportunities to buy water once you are within the site so take ample supplies or buy at the entrance hall. We ended up only having 90 minutes in the site. The cenote was also a great experience although it was a different pool than advertised. I highly recommend you pay the minimum extra charge for lockers for hire of life jackets so that you can swim in the pool. Sadly the whole affair was quite rushed - we had barely 15 minutes to enjoy the cenote. Much of the rest of the time was spent in what was described as an authentic Mayan village. There was very little of cultural interest with the highlight being a Shaman recommending my daughter buy a special onyx rock to improve her happiness for the princely sum of $200. After waiting for a significant time we were finally made to listen to a 20 minute spiel on tequila. Food was adequate but nothing exciting sadly. My recommendation is to hire a driver to take you direct to Chichen Itza and back. Expect this journey (one way) to take around two hours from Playa Del Carmen and plan to spend no more than two hours at the site. I would also recommend a separate trip to a local cenote which I believe you could easily reach within 30 minutes. In total you gain an extra half a day by the beach! I would like to stress the tour guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful. Finally pack warm clothes as the air-conditioner on the bus was freezing.
I enjoyed the full day adventure. We got the plus tour which I was glad because it provided us with breakfast. The tour guides were very knowledgeable. I think the time at Chichen could be shortened so that we have more time at the Cenote. (We only had 45 min at the Cenote) it went incredibly fast since we still had to change and 'shower' before going in the water. The last stop was also very rushed - it was 20 minutes, which I think it should be at least 30min. But overall enjoyed it. The only down was the waiter had drinks for us in the cooler- and he carried stuff that wasn't included like bottled iced tea so it was annoying when he lays out the ice chest for us to grab from and then having to put back our teas because it 'wasnt' included in the plus tour. Last thing- the bus was tight. If the people in front decide to recline their seats, good luck to your legs. The experience was worth it in the end, glad I took on this full day excursion.
I was skeptical about going to Chichen Itza due to all the complaints about shady merchants and tour guides trying to scam us but that wasn't true. The whole excursion was around 14 hours long from the time of my pickup from my hotel to drop off. It was very fast paced but we thoroughly enjoyed it. For the first 3-4 hours, you are picked up by a van to be dropped off at another site to be picked up by a megabus to head towards Chichen Itza. This was a long process but it's necessary to get you your tickets. Our first stop was a market near Chichen Itza where we were to be seen by a Shaman, have around 40 minutes to "buy stuff" then a roughly 45 minute lunch. The workers here did not get all up in our faces like some people said and the lunch was very good. There were dancers going around. The second stop was Chichen Itza, federal tax, and state tax tickets were provided so we had to pay nothing out of pocket. While the sites were beautiful, the whole experience could have been better. The explanation of Chichen Itza was too long and the time spent here is way too long (3 hours). We have been through the entirety of Chichen Itza and we sat four nearly half of it near their drinks store. Nearly every merchant asked us to go buy their stuff, prepared to say "no gracias" 80 times. Next stop was Saamal Cenote. This was the highlight of the trip. The process was smooth but the experience was fleeting. The whole stop lasted roughly 40 minutes and we only spent around 10 minutes in the cenote. The rest of the time were spent getting changed in and out of swim wear. I wish we did one hour less at Chichen Itza, and one hour more at this cenote. The last stop was valladolid. This was a nice 15 minute walk around the park where we got to buy food from street vendors. Now it's nearing sunset and you will be getting back on the bus for another 2 hour ride back to Cancun.
Everyone who visits Cancun would have to live this experience because it is unique. We arrived at the Cenote IK KIL, you can take a bath, then we had lunch buffet style. Immediately after lunch we went to the city of Valladolid, built by the Spaniards in the 16th century, we walked, we took pictures because it looks like a city from the time of the conquistadores, it is fascinating. And from there we left for Chichen Itza to live an afternoon full of magic, history and color. I recommend one hundred percent!
Booked 2 tours to Chichen Itza and Tulum/Playa Del Carmen before we left Canada - excellent prices. On our first day trip to Chichen Itza, we were late as I had set my clock incorrectly when we arrived. Needless to say the company called us and we ran down (15 minutes late) but they still waited for us. Got taken to a store where we waited for the buses. Once we loaded on the bus, Jesus was our tour Guide and he spoke excellent English. What a beautiful day. The cenote was excellent - so much fun in the water. It is mandatory to wear life jackets ($1 US rental fee) and another $1 US for the locker rental. Visiting the church in Valladolid was lovely but very quick. The lunch buffet and visiting the shaman was an awesome experience! Highly recommend this tour...but read the fine print if you book classic then drinks are not provided. Thank you Rudolfo for driving us! #2 day trip was to Tulum and Playa del Carmen. We were picked up promptly and again taken to the store where we waited for the buses. We pd $25 US extra to get lunch/drinks included (worth it!). Pedro and Lee and Omar were our most excellent guides and once again we had a lovely day! Tulum is absolutely gorgeous and if you enjoy shopping then Playa del Carmen is for you! Personally I could have spent the whole day in Tulum at the beach and the mayan ruins site. Thank you Translamex for these great great trips!
The Guided tour we took from Translamex tours was great. Not only did we get to see the famous Mayan temples of Chichen Itza, we also were able to see the beautiful Yucatan country side and its people. Our tour guide, Roberto, was very knowledgeable and considerate in his delivery of information. The bus was clean and comfortable, and the places we visited felt safe. Other than the length of the tour, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to explore Mayan culture a little deeper than just visiting Chichen Itza.
We booked online via Cancun Discount website as it was a great deal. Both tours were offered by Translamex. Be aware that they are never on time given in your voucher. Chichen Itza tour was better than Tulum&Coba. Both tours are very long, literally they take entire day. Be aware that not all tour guides speak English well enough so you could enjoy the tour. Our tour guide in Tulum&Coba was useless. Of course they take you to tourist traps and trying to convince you to buy as much as you can from particular places. I would recommend to pay more and have more customized private tour which would be quicker and more interesting.
It was a whole day trip, we left around 7:30 and came back to our resort almost 9pm. The actual Chichen Itza tour was 2 hours, plus 4 hours on the bus, 1 hour at cenote, 1 hour lunch, I really like this tour if it could be 8 hours. However we spent too much time on the gift shop place. My suggestion is not to buy over there because the price is unreasonable. If you would like to buy some souvenir , I will say try to find some at Chichen Itza, even you think they are little pricey but will be more at airport. You can bargain the price with the seller. The guide was great and knowledgeable. Anyway, Chichen Itza is one of the world wonders, make you feel regret not to see it, but little disappoint after you see it. Lol.
Tour to Chichen Itza We booked a tour via the main desk at our hotel and didn’t know it was via this company. Positive; 89 dollars. Cheaper than our tour company Thomas Cook. Guides were knowledgeable We booked normal. Not plus. Plus meant all drinks included plus a breakfast sandwich. Not worth it. Bring water from the hotel and buy a beer when you stop if you want one. Negative; please check which company the tour is from. We did not. And later found out it’s with Translamex Tours (please google/ trip advisor). Picked up at 7:25 (they said 7:10 so no time for breakfast as the staff told me we could not do take-away). Taken on a bus to a massive shop to get the boarding pass?!? Loads of souvenirs. It was on the city. Quite tempting when your in an all inclusive. Got on the bus around 9. We were informed we were going to stop at a colonial village before going for lunch. We drove for two hours. We got lots of information. Stopped at the village for about 15 minutes. Advised not to spend money here. Not sure why. Not really enough time to look around. They put the fear that if you’re more than 10 minutes late back they will leave without you. Spent 5 minutes looking for our bus as they all look the same and ours had no tour number in the window. (After this stop they put the tour number in the window). I also took a picture of the number plate. Back in the bus and it was about 1.5 hours until we got to the lunch stop. On the way there they informed us about the Mayan people who live here and how much they need our money. They talked about the Mayan calendar, passed around some examples and said we could order one with a special date for 20 dollars. We did not. We later saw that they are printed. And we saw no Mayan teenagers in need making them. The guide also passed his necklace around and encouraged that we order one at the restaurant shop. We got off the bus and they told us it’s not our turn yet for lunch (I was hangry) so we had to to wait and have a look around the shop. We have been informed everything here was real and everything anywhere else was fake which I just didn’t buy. We didn’t buy anything there. A man who worked there asked for our names for “something special” I thought they were going to do a dance or something as they seemed to have a boys and girls column. We didn’t really want to. But gave out last names. After about five minutes a guy came over with post cards with our name on and said 200 pesos. No negotiation. I get really bad as their only industry is tourism and reached into my pocket. I also felt under pressure and like I couldn’t say no as they had written our names on them. Then I saw the tipex. Then I told him we didn’t order these and didn’t want them. He said two for 100. And I said no. I got quite cross and felt like they were being very pushy. After about 30 minutes it was time for lunch. Before we went in they took a photo of us. It was family pictures. Quite strange I thought. Lunch was crap. Not very warm. I didn’t touch any of the salad or cold food as the taco tour guy had told us you get sick from that being washed in dirty water. The tacos were ok. You had to wait a while for them. Nothing as good as we had on the taco tour in Cancun. Then there were dancers. With a sign for tips and they were asking for tips too. The service was poor. We didn’t tip at all. Finally we were on our way to Chichen Itza. They made a joke how everyone was sleeping on the toll road so they will take the other road now. We got there and the tour guide walked us around and told us about it. That was informative. About 20 minutes. Then we got about 40 minutes to look around and told not to buy anything from the vendors who were there because a political leader had let them in. Back in the van and on the way to the Cenote. It was another 45 minutes or so. I think we got there around 4pm. We only had 45 minutes to get in. Shower. Change. Get out and be back on the bus. Not enough time at all. Back on the bus and one of the tour guides offered us a traditional shot. Finally a nice token I thought. After we did the shot they passed out 250ml bottles with our pictures on. A gift we thought? Nope. 20 dollars for that too. So the whole trip felt like they just wanted our money and we spent only 2 hours at the main sights. Got back around 8:30 pm. I would not recommend this at all and look into another tour guide company.
We had booked a tour and the dtriver came 30 minutes before pick up time and didn't bother to wait for us or call us to let us know he was there. we were at hotel lobby waiting for 50 minutes and tried top call all the numbers on our invoice and no answer. finally one of the doorman's at hotel told us that a guy came at 7am and gave him a paper and left. our scheduled pick up time was 7:30 and we were in the lobby at 7:20. we lost our chance to go to chichen itza since we were leaving Cancun the next day. we are very disappointed with this company.I filled a claim with my creditcard since we paid $ 550 US dollars.
Translamex tours of Chichen Itza was one of the best experiences my family had in Cancun. We booked a combo deal thru the Jolly Roger (we loved that, too!) Both packages were discounted since we booked on line and paid for both at the same time. Our tour guide picked us up at the hotel on time the day of the tour. There were many tours leaving at the same time, but we had no trouble finding him in the crowded lobby. We boarded the bus which was very clean and comfortable. The tour guide (Hector) spoke in both engilsh and spanish and explained the day, gave us facts on the tour sites, Mexico in general, and was really fun and entertaining to listen to. Our first stop was Valladolid. We did not have enough time here, unfortunately. The town is really old and historic. After a brief bathroom break and about 20 mintues to walk around, we headed over to our VIP lunch. We were greeted by the Mayan Shulman, who blessed our group and taught us a little about the culture. The lunch was good. Tacos and tortillas were cooked in front of us. Bring extra money for drinks, they are not included in the lunch. After lunch we headed over the Chichen Itza. The site is a madhouse. Thousands of tourists and hundreds of tour buses. Our guide did a great job keeping the group together. We also were able to bypass the line and enter thru a side gate, which we loved. No waiting in line. We broke off into 2 groups, english and spanish tours. The day was hot, and although Hector was sweating bullets, his enthusiasm never wavered. We covered a lot of ground on the tour, then we were able to tour the site on our own for about an hour before heading back to the tour bus. Chichen Itza is incredible. The ruins were much more impressive than I had imagined and the site is very large. There are also hundreds of annoying vendors trying to sell souvenirs. Be prepared to say no a lot. After the group gathered back on the bus, we headed over to the cenote. The cenote we visited was beautiful. We decided not to swim, but enjoyed watching others and visited the shops around the site. We returned back to our hotel safe and sound after an amazing excursion day. From pick up to drop off we were gone for about 13 hours. I highly recommend this tour and would trust Translamex and their team and tour guide Hector. Tips for the trip. Hector and the team work very hard all day, taking care of everything. Please remember to have a good tip ready. Bring water and comfy shoes. Bring your own towel if you plan to swim in the cenote. The drive from the hotel zone to Chichen Itza is a couple of hours. Make sure you have some snacks for the bus. If I did it again, Id bring my own small ice chest and leave it on the bus. Everything is safe on the bus and you shouldnt have to worry theft. Great trip, the entire family young and old really ejoyed it.
We took this tour as the result of a recommendation from our resort planner. He was right, it was wonderful. We knew we had to see Chichen Itza on this trip we just hadn't decided with who. There are plenty of options some costing much more, some less. For this trip we upgraded to the "Plus" which included beverages all day and a light snack to start the day. The motor coach (bus) was a new Mercedes with very comfortable seating and everything you'd expect from a top of the line coach. The visit to the Mayan village was nice and even if the items they sold were a little predictable we would rather support them than others. The buffet and entertainment was good. The actual visit to Chichen Itza was too short for us. After the initial tour with the guide we had about 60 minutes to see the Cenote and the other buildings on this large site. We could have used more time. Our tour guides Alain and Jesus were great! They actually made the rather long trip very pleasant. Their insights into the Maya people, which they both are, I found very educational and added to my understanding of these amazing people and their history. For us in part due to staying on Isla Mujeres made for a 16 hour day but it was well worth it and the highlight of our stay!
Expect a full day trip, but well worth it. Our tour guide, Jesus Cuevas, was easy to understand, knowledgeable, and had a great sense of humor; very accommodating. Bus was as comfortable as it could be.We chose the basic package. The stop in Valladolid wasn't nearly enough time to look around, but we were on a schedule. Everything else was great. The lunch buffet had great options. Tacos were delicious!
We came to Cancun for a family vacation and wanted to see some historical monuments. Trying to decide between renting a car for $40 dollars and $15ea for Chichenitza entrance and the cenote entrance.... we decided to do the tour package last minute to avoid any issues $220 with two kids. Our trip started with a taxi picking us up at our hotel and taking us to the main hub to get on big tour bus in a huge market store where you can buy your own booze and bring along with you ;) We did the plus package food and unlimited drinks (still on the fence about that value) where drinks available only while getting on or off the bus. The guide we had was Alan and he did a good job speaking in both languages English/Spanish but he talked way too much and would harass anyone sleeping while he spoke(don't sit in the front!!). Robert was our English speaking guide at Chichenitza and was very knowledgeable and friendly. Each stop we had was super short except the Mayan village lunch there was a store to buy everything Mayan and have a Shaman bless your purchase. Everything at this stop is available at Chichenitza and probably a bit cheaper. Honestly could have shortened this stop so we had more time at Chichenitza and I would have preferred not to stop at the colonial town since we where there for 20 minutes plus the slow drive through the town and a detour to see current Mayan homes. Shop around and make sure you get to see what you want since it's your vacation.
Even though it rained, it was an awesome experience! The tour guides were excellent and very knowledgeable. The only thing I didn’t like about the tour was that the main tour guy kept talking about tips. I know what I need to do and I don’t like to be reminded. Valladolid was only 15 minutes. I wanted to see more of Valladolid. It was a very rushed visit. Main tour guide pushes the gift shop near Chi Chen Itza and it is expensive. The Selva Maya Cenote is breathtaking! Julio kept the refreshments coming! He was awesome on the trip.
We started early in the morning(in our case 6 am). It took us round about 2 hours to get to the spot. The duration was endurable but the bus didn't offer enough space thus you lose every sense of feeling after some time. The ruins were beautiful and one could see immediately why they are declared as a wonder of this world. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made jokes to make us feel more comfortable while dealing with 38°C(!). After that we got lunch in a hotel, which has the name "mayaland", nearby the ruins. They offered typical mayan and mexican food but also international kitchen. We then proceeded to the cenote Ik'kil. I wouldn't recommend it.It was a real refreshment to swim there but lost its charm due to all the tourists who came there as well. Besides that the toilets and changing rooms weren't in a good condition. The end of our tour was a visit in Valladolid, which should have conveyed the impression of colonialism. But we were given just 45 minutes so an exploring of the city wasn't really possible.
The good - the company did what it said it would do. It took us to the three places it was supposed to. The driver was safe. The bad - Timing was bad. We left at 7:00 am and didn't get back to our hotel until 8:40 pm. It's about 2.5 hours to Chichen Itza. Why so long? Lots of wasted time. Only 90 minutes at Chichen Itza. 40 minutes at cenote. And 15 minutes at the city. Really. But LOTS of time at the gift shops (get off your hotel pick up van at 7:20, bus leaves at 8:20). Then a bathroom break an hour into the trip (Why? There is a bathroom on the bus). Then a mandatory gift shop stop for another hour before lunch. The ugly - The subtle constant upsell. The tour guide starts with a speech about the importance of bugspray. "You don't understand jungle mosquitoes...don't let one bite with Zika ruin your vacation." Conveniently, they sell bugspray on the bus! (We did not buy. I totally attract mosquitoes like crazy and got absolutely NO bites the whole day. Keep your $10). This was just the start of literally HOURS of speeches. You'll see his special Mayan calendar, silver jewelry, other jewelry, promises of Shaman visits which can cure stress/insomnia/heartburn, and more. Then guess what?! One of the giftshops sells Mayan calendars, silver jewelry, other jewelry, and has a Shaman on staff. Along with this comes with warnings not to buy from other places. "Can't trust them!" You get the idea. It was relentless. And if anyone tried to sleep, he would call them out about being disrespectful, not caring about the indigenous Mayans, etc. Or maybe you want to purchase some of the local alcohol with your picture on the bottle? Also available. Conclusion - the tour is cheaper than some competitor's, but you "pay" for it in different ways. You will take a lot more time. The Chichen Itza tour is short. The time at the places is short. And you have to listen to endless sales pitches. I wouldn't recommend.

A few highlights and tips and issues. The stop at Valladolid is 15 minutes. That is enough time to walk in the church and come back out. So walk fast! The bus ride was freezing cold. My husband and I and the two guys sitting by us were freezing. The cenote was awesome and beautiful. You must pay 1.00 to get life jackets which are mandatory. The changing facilities and bathrooms were very clean. Watch out because they are going to try to sell you everything on this tour. The lunch was really good but I was charged for my drinks. Dont know why! Be careful about buying too much at the lunch site. We spent all our money there and didn't have any money left to buy things at Chichen itza. We were told we would be at Chichen itza for 1 hour and 45 minutes. The first part was a guided educational part and the second part was supposed to be where we could walk around independently. I dont know if we got there late but 15 minutes into us being able to walk around independently they were Closing the park!! All in all very educational, very cool, but bring some money!

My family and I were happy to visit Chichen Itza but overall unhappy with this tour. First, we paid extra for the "Plus" tour which I regret. The only difference between this and the Classic tour is that you get a croissant sandwich for breakfast with a few sides, a few drinks with lunch, and unlimited drinks on the bus. However, the only drinks available on the bus were water and they ran out after Chichen Itza when we were most thirsty. Oh by the way, there was no bathroom on the bus so if you drank too much good luck on the 2 to 3 hour bus ride. The stop in Valladolid was only 15 minutes. Nice to see but too short. The stop at the Cenote was great. We had about an hour there, however by the time we got bought tickets for the life vests and lockers, got changed, and then got changed/dried when finished, we had little time to swim and enjoy the site. Then what was most upsetting, we stopped for lunch but before lunch we had 45 minutes free time to visit the gift shop which included the 'tour guide' pitching overpriced customized necklace with Mayan hieroglyphics. We were very upset to be rushed out of the Cenote for this. The lunch was very good and the visit at Chichen Itza was good. However, if I had to do it again I would recommend taking an ADO bus to Chichen Itza and visiting the site independently. I would also choose another Cenote near Playa del Carmen and visit for a half day, and skip Valladolid. After Chichen Itza the 'tour guide' again tried selling overpriced Mayan Liquor with our photo on the bottle. This tour was run by Baktun tours, we were not impressed.
