Cancun: Small-group Akumal Turtle Snorkel & Cave Cenote Adventure

Today we had an incredible excursion in the Cancun area and we can't stop smiling thinking about it! Our excursion included a visit to a stunning cenote and the unforgettable experience of swimming with sea turtles. From the moment we met our tour guide, Rudolph, it was clear that we were in for a treat. He had an amazing ability to connect with everyone in our group, from adults to kids. My 5 year old daughter absolutely adored him! His extra attention and care made her feel special, and it was heartwarming to see how he engaged with her throughout the tour keeping a close watch on her in the ocean, pointing out all the sea life and helping her be included in this experience. One of the sweetest moments was when our youngest daughter became a bit sad as the tour came to an end. She asked Rudolph for a picture, and without hesitation, he pulled over to make her wish come true. That simple act of kindness truly made her day and left a lasting impression on all of us and has been looked at many times since then by her. The cenote was breathtaking, and swimming with the sea turtles was a dream come true. The entire experience was seamless and well-organized, allowing us to relax and enjoy our time without any worries. I highly recommend this excursion to anyone visiting the Cancun area, especially families. If you get the chance, ask for Rudolph as your guide you won’t regret it! We did a tour today with Blue Caribe via Tui. The experience was magical! Our guide was Mariagracia. She was absolutely brilliant. She is very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the area, and passionate about protecting nature. She was very kind to our 7 year old son. She did the tour in both impeccable English and Italian! Thank you so much for an amazing day.

It took well over an hour to get to from maroma beach. Took about 30 minutes down an incredibly bumpy road in the jungle. Strange surroundings. If vehicle gets a flat you are going to be in a bad situation. People brought very small children unknowing not for small children. People were nice and the van was nice . Must be a good swimmer!

Nadia and Mario were amazing! Mario’s driving was great and had snacks and water for us. Nadia was great guide and extremely knowledgeable.

5 hours trip to see turtles and 2 cenetos, was a really nice little trip, was kept in the loop even days before hand with what time to be picked up. Very good service and very friendly staff, turtle experience was awesome , seen 3 turtles in total in the wild with plenty of fish. Cenotes was great, take loads of repellent as mosquito's are everywhere, also bring food, as only given a small tiny roll , 10/10 well done to the team

We had a great time with Alex- the tour was really informative and respectful of the environment and animals. We really enjoyed the half day tour, it had a good pace, got to see loads and was brilliant value for money. Worked well with the group size- thanks.

This was up there with the best day out ever! The snorkeling with turtles was brilliant even though im not great out in the water I felt totally safe and at ease. I could hold a life ring and pretty much get towed all over so its also great for the not so good swimmers! We saw about 10 turtles which ranged in size and the experience was second to none, highly recommend!! Maria Car was our guide throughout the tour and honestly she was so knowledgeable about everything we encountered it was fascinating, i could have listened to her all day long! The cenote swims were stunning and shows nature at its absolute finest, really beautiful but wear swim shoes as the rocks are sharp in places. Be sure to use mozzie spray before you leave hotel though as around the cenote entrances the mozzies are rife! The whole trip was worth every penny and im so glad we did it! Wonderful experience! Driver picked us up at our hotel on time; professional, courteous, and friendly. IMHO, it's the guide that makes the tour successful or not. Our guide, Alex, was great. Not only extremely knowledgeable, but passionate about his culture and it's ecosystem. (AND ... be generous with your tips - all of your guides rely upon gratuities to make a living; plus it's seasonal work. We wouldn't have these great opportunities if it wasn't for them.)

This was an incredible experience swimming with sea turtles and learning about cenotes. The tour guides were very informative.

Nadia was an amazing guide and spoke very good English 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 . Very polite and extremely knowledgeable. Picked up exactly at 8 O’clock from Santi who has helpful and cheerful. Myself and my son did the turtles and the cenonties and was a great and enjoyable day out . Massively recommend santi and Nadia for ANY tours your doing while In Cancun .

I had the best experience and felt very comfortable because of Alex the guide. I was anxious but only for 5 minutes and then I was in pure joy seeing turtles and fishes. It’s a walk in from the beach and a must do.

Tour guide Rodolfo was excellent. There was a small boy in the group who was afraid of snorkeling and Rodolfo worked with him and got him to enjoy himself snorkeling. He provided In depth information about everything and he was genuinely caring and courteous A+++ Definitely recommend this tour with Rodolfo

Everything was absolutely amazing from start to finish! We went snorkeling in the sea with Oscar, and he was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and attentive. He helped us learn, offered to take pictures for us, and took care of every little detail. He is also very smart and speaks excellent English and French, which made communication so easy. The transportation arrived on time at our hotel, and our driver was extremely kind, friendly, and snorkling throughout the entire experience. Lunch was even adapted to respect our Islamic dietary restrictions, which we truly appreciated. The cenote tour was beyond amazing honestly, a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we will never forget! Safety was clearly taken seriously in both Cenote and snorkeling. Fresh cold water was provided throughout the tour. Oscar made us feel comfortable, safe, and very well taken care of. We didn’t have many pesos left for a tip, but we gave him everything we had because he truly deserves it! I would book with this agency again and again without hesitation. For any activity in the region in the future, they would definitely be my first choice. Thank you Oscar, our driver, and the whole team for such an unforgettable experience! ❤️

Wow! Great communication about pickup from our hotel & timely comfortable transport. Sent a clear list beforehand of what we should bring & what was provided. First, stop was the cenotes. Got there early enough that we had the closed cenote to our small group of 10. Gorgeous! Next, Akumal to see the sea turtles. We are always prepared to see no wildlife on trips, but we saw 6 sea turtles! Our guide, Lea, gave us great info for both spots & clearly communicated the rules to minimize the impact on the environment. And, because we had a mixed language group, she did this while flipping between English & French & made sure everyone was engaged & included. Cold bottled water and snacks were provided(which was very appreciated after all of the swimming). Would highly recommend.

We had an absolutely fantastic morning and would highly recommend this tour! A huge thank you to our driver, Moses, who was friendly, welcoming and made the journey smooth and comfortable, and especially to our guide, Maria, who was outstanding. She was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate about the local wildlife and environment, and her enthusiasm really made the whole experience even more special. Swimming with the sea turtles was everything we had hoped for. We saw so many turtles in their natural habitat, as well as a huge ray, which was an unforgettable bonus! Maria ensured everyone respected the wildlife while still giving us plenty of opportunities to enjoy the experience. The visit to the cenotes was equally magical. They were peaceful, beautiful and incredibly relaxing. One of my favourite moments was simply standing quietly in the water, taking in the surroundings and watching the bats overhead. It felt like such a special place. We are so glad we chose a private tour. Having the flexibility to go at our own pace without feeling rushed made such a difference. The personal service was exceptional, and it really felt like the day was tailored just for us. Thank you, Moses and Maria, for creating such a memorable experience. The most connected I’ve ever felt with nature. The turtles, the denotes, the bats, the birds, the fish, the fossils, it was phenomenal. Honestly, this trip was so much more than an excursion. The host we had, Rudolfo had one mission that day, to make sure we had the best time. He knew the tricks to avoid the crowds and explained everything to us about what was going to happen. I mean the trip we chose didn’t have bells and whistles of an extravagant lunch but never ever have I ever enjoyed a trip so much as this one. It was outstanding and I can’t rate it highly enough. A bucket list trip for sure. 200% recommend. (For context, we travel a lot, and always do several excursions)

Everything was wonderful! Smooth and on time pickup from hotel and a smooth ride to the snorkeling area. We had Rudolph and Gabriel as our guides and they were amazing! Rudolph is so knowledgeable about the area and has a true love for what he does. The cenote we went to is back in the jungle so it is not as crowded as others, there were maybe two other groups in the entire cave with us. I will say the excursion took longer than expected, we were picked up at about 7am and got back at 2pm. Not too bad with picking up another two groups from other hotels. During the excursion they take pictures and at the end it is $55 to purchase them. Although we passed on the photos they were VERY well taken. Overall, it was very very worth it to do with these guides and do this wonderful excursion.

We had a great experience viewing the turtles. Erika, our guide, was excellent! She shared a lot of history about our destinations and was always checking everyone was safe during swimming time and entertained during traveling time. The turtle experience was great and the Cenote was relaxing. Erika was a great host!

Did the half day swimming with turtles and swim in Cenoti. Absolutely fabulous with Alex and Ivan. Alex's knowledge is outstanding. Made to feel so relaxed and we all stayed as (Alex's) family group. Even provided us with snacks and water. Not expected! I would highly recommend this trip. Lots of Green turtles, barracuda and stingrays. Alex is very passionate with his Mexican knowledge. Did the 1/2 day swim with Turtles and Cenotes swim. Guides were Alex and driver Ivan, both excellent. Would definitely use Alex again but would book direct with Blue Caribe. Alex is so knowledgeable and was all about the history and the the natural world, A really good trip doing things you can’t do anywhere else

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Riviera Maya! Everything was extremely well organized from start to finish. Transportation was on time, comfortable, and made the day completely stress-free. Our guide was fantastic—very knowledgeable and explained exactly what we would be doing, what to expect, and made everyone feel comfortable throughout the excursion. The highlight for our family was how patient and caring he was with my young son during the snorkeling portion. He stayed with him in the ocean, helped him feel safe and confident, and made sure he had an unforgettable experience. Swimming with the sea turtles was absolutely incredible, and the cenote visit was beautiful as well. We never felt rushed, and the entire day exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend this tour to families, especially those traveling with children. Thank you for making such wonderful memories for our family!

We done the half day tour which was brilliant. Alex our guide was absolutely brilliant. He was so informative and passionate about his job. It's a day out that we'll never forget. Memories made. Cenote was so interesting . We learnt so much about the Maya people and about the creature's in that inhabit the caves . The turtle experience was amazing too. Thank you Alex and Adrian (driver) . We hope your dream to go to the Great Barrier Reef comes true.

We did see many sea turtles! It was right from the beach, no boat. Visibility on our day was great. There were many, many groups of people in the water. We stayed with our guide and swam for just the right amount of time. It was awesome! The price was just right for what we did. The cenotes were good, but would not great. Our driver and guide were fantastic!

Our tour guide Maria Cos was absolutely fantastic today, very friendly, knowledgeable and organised. Locations were picturesque and not too crowded. Lots of turtles to see. Great tour, highly recommended.

Me and my family had an amazing day exploring the Cenotes and then snorkeling with Turtles! Alex our guide was very fun, energetic and informative. He was also a huge help supporting my mother who isn't the strongest swimmer. Alex made the experience great for us all. Also shout out to our driver, he kept the tunes playing between our hotel and the activities so the energy was always up!

Our tour guide Leah was overall very pleasant, unfortunately a bunch of sargassum in the water with the turtles and it was a bit crowded. The cenote was much better!

Alex, our guide, was phenomenal. He was so knowledgeable, and passionate about what he was talking about. One of our family couldn't swim and was very scared. He calmed her fears and paid extra attention to her. So glad I took this tour!

Good to bring extra food and make sure you have biodegradable sunscreen not sunblock. Mosquitos will attack you at the cenote but not sure if bug spray is allowed. Turtles are accessible if you're not a good swimmer the guides will help you out

Host Repberto was incredible, absolutely made the trip - massive thanks to him if he's reading! Sea water wasn't the best so visibility for the turtles wasn't great so when you saw them it was all a touch blurred. Caves afterwards were amazing - crystal clear water that was really refreshing to swim in.

Our excursion with Blue Caribbean was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The beach in Akumal was covered with large amounts of seaweed, making it unattractive and unpleasant. The turtle-watching activity was particularly disappointing because the conditions were so poor. In my opinion, this excursion should not be offered during the months when seaweed is abundant, as it significantly affects the overall experience. The guide spent most of the trip talking to the driver in Spanish, which meant that many of us could not understand what was being said. Instead of engaging with the group, introducing herself, sharing information about the area, or providing interesting insights about life in Mexico, she was often on her phone and seemed uninterested in interacting with the guests. We also spent about an hour picking up tourists from various hotels before the excursion even began. When we asked about the delay, we were told that this was because it was low season. Regardless of the reason, it made the experience feel poorly organized and inefficient. Overall, this was one of the worst excursions we have experienced. I would not book another excursion with Blue Caribe and cannot recommend this company.

Alex was our tour guide, he was fantastic ! Super friendly with great knowledge and talks in depth throughout the tour about the tour. He is fantastic with the children. Patient and friendly. The tour itself was great we were well informed of what was happening and what was going to happen. We got in the water and swam out to see the turtles in their natural habitat and environment we saw 4/5 very large turtles . We then went to the cenotes which was amazing !Alex helped us around in the water and told us all the information about the history behind the cenotes which he was very passionate about ate about . I would highly recommend this tour with this guide !

We had a great experience with Rudolph. He was so kind and we appreciated his fun personality and also his understanding with our differently abled son. The cenotes were our favorite, but we saw several sea turtles up close and personal as well. The van was nice with great ac!

Although we did not get to take the adventure do to inclement weather conditions, it was rescheduled 2 times before it was refunded. Communication was given through out the whole time. Although we didn’t get to experience the trip it was great with proper communication.

An unforgettable experience in the ocean with turtles, beautiful landscapes and an amazing atmosphere throughout the entire tour 😊 A special thank you to the guide, Gonzalo Colloca, for his professionalism, kindness and contagious good humor throughout the day. I really appreciated the care and attention he gives to every person in the group, always making everyone feel comfortable, as well as the genuine respect and concern for the ecosystem and the preservation rules during the experience. It was one of those rare experiences that reconnect us with something that has always been part of us — in my case, the sea 🌊 Some experiences stay with us for much longer than we expect — and this was definitely one of them.

Came down to Cancun for a couple days with girlfriend and booked a last second excursion and was pleasantly surprised. Fun experience, got to swim with multiple turtle, a ray, and explored the cenote with the guide, plenty of knowledge and history. Only downfall is a long drive from Cancun down towards the Tulum area but that is expected with the booking, shuttle is clean snacks were great and the operators were friendly. Thank you all!

The turtle experience was awesome. We were able to see several that morning. The cenotes and the history about them was worth the visit. The entire experience was made by Alex our guide. Amazing Experience. Swimming with turtles was just absolute out of this world. The caves where absolute awesome 👌 would certainly recommend didnt want any of it to be over, the Experience and the guide Alex both Amazing and learnt alot of new things and history. Finally our drive thank you.
