Our guide Alejandro was so knowledgeable and engaging. He was extremely friendly with us and with the staff at each of our stops. He offered us choices along the way and adjusted according to our preferences. Felt like a truly authentic Mexican food experience, which was what we were looking for, as it was our first time in Mexico. Very generous portions at each stop. Alex really knew a lot about the food (spices, preparation, history etc)

Great food and guide! We would not have experienced authentic tacos if not for this tour. The kids enjoyed this so much, they thought it was one of the two best things they did in Mexico. It was initially stressful to find the guide because the Uber driver dropped us off in a different spot. I'm glad the operator was available in the chat and Alex, our guide met us where we were.
Alex was amazing! He was so knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to talk too! It was just my husband and I on the tour, and we left feeling like friends! We appreciate his hospitality and kindness during this tour. 10/10!
We had an awesome time with Enrique! Learned so much about the history of Cancun and the Yucatan area, and got to try so much amazing food. Enrique made us feel like we had known each other for years right from the start.
Angelica was wonderful. Personable, knowledgeable, and kind. We had a lovely time tasting so many different Mexican foods and learning about the history of the country and region. I cannot recommend this experience enough.
We had an excellent Food Tour in Cancun and really enjoyed our experience with our guide Diego! I usually do a Food Tour in every city that I visit and this one was a great way to see the old town of Cancun and taste some excellent dishes that you may not otherwise find at your hotel. Highly recommend.
Our tour was fantastic. Our tour guide Manny was incredibly informative, friendly and high energy. I would recommend him to anyone. We got some amazing food and Manny made some recommendations based on what we liked at earlier locations. Definitely a highlight of our trip.
Had an amazing experience with Enrique and Alejandro ! They were so attentive. They gave us a great tour with lots of food and history. We were lost at the beginning but they were so accommodating. They were able to find us even though we were late. Definitely book a tour with them!
It was a great and knowledgeable tour! Our tour guides Alejandro and Enrique were so awesome and hospitable. And the food recommendations were delicious!
We had an absolutely lovely private food tour for our family of four (we had been five but one of us felt sick in the morning and couldn't make it!) with Alejandro. He was a delight. Kind, informative, and really made the few hours worthwhile. We loved the food we ate, thought it was absolutely worth the price, and really appreciated his perspective! The bits of history of mayan culture mixed in with learning about the foods we were eating was so much fun. It honestly was some of the best food we had in our time in Cancun. I highly recommend you do this tour and get away from your resort for a few hours! Also love that he took photos! What a lovely way to remember our tour since we weren't as good at remembering to take them. Try the crickets, you won't be disappointed ;)
100% recommend. Just wow. Emmanuel was interesting, accommodating, Informative, fun, and welcoming. We learned not only about the best local foods, but also about the country, cultural, and people. This is not just a food tour, it’s a vision into true Cancun. It’s worth every penny. Btw, the food was outstanding, but we also ate more than we could even handle! Come hungry!
As a lover of all mexican foods from tacos to menudo I decided to book a food tour with Eating with Carmen during my short visit to Cancun and it did not disappoint. Our guide Alex was super personable and like other reviewers mentioned its like meeting up with a long lost friend. The great thing about the tour is there are plenty of stops and you are able to pick and choose what you want to eat which was awesome. However I must say it wasn’t the food that impressed me the most but our guide Alex. The wealth of information he shared about the local culture are some of the things my wife and I look forward to and thats the value of this tour. Thanks again Alex and keep rocking out brother! We listened to your band on Spotify and were very impressed. See you on the flip side.
Lovely experience! The food options were fantastic- even had great vegetarian options. Emmanuel (Emmanuel10) provided the locals inside and gave great context and stories behind the food and restaurants. We really felt we had a brief immersion into the Cancun Center culture and flavors.
Emmanuel was the most amazing tour guide we could ask for!! Absolutely knowledgeable on local restaurants and resources near us! It felt like we were hanging out with friend we’ve known forever! I will be recommending this tour to friends and family
Emmanuel piced us punctually up at the stated location. The first drink, tasting like rice pudding with cinamon was delicious. The tacos where great, but the Tacitas where best.
Emmanuel was amazing. I loved the spots. The drinks, the food, the guide... everything perfect. I did it the second time this year.
I ended up taking a tour alone with Enrique and it was amazing to get an opportunity to really talk about the history of Cancun and all the food. Be sure to save some room for your last stop on the tour because it's really amazing. I have taken many food tours all over and this one was really special.
We did a street food tour around Cancun with Emmanuel today. He was lovely and friendly from the get-go. He made sure to keep our 2 children (aged 15 and 13 years) engaged with a background to each dish we ate. We had dishes today that we had never heard about before (despite priding ourselves on being knowledgeable gastronomes). The whole tour was excellent. Emmanuel showed us why he was so. proud of his heritage. Definitely worth it!
This experience was amazing. I have traveled to countries all over the world, including Mexico 3 times, and I always try to find a local food tour to go to and this has been the best by far. Not only was Alex a great guide (knowledgeable and amicable( but I felt we truly stopped at authentic places and tried non conventional foods and drinks (something that is not always the case with food tours). I give this tour a true 10 out of 10. Thankyou so much!!
Our family of four took a walking food tour with Emmanuel Tinoco. Our daughters are 14 and 11. Emmanuel was amazing. He had such great energy right from the start , making us feel welcome right from start. Very attentive to all of our needs likes and dislikes. Easy to talk to very knowledgeable. The people at the different restaurants were happy to see him almost like he was part of their family. I will be setting up a private tour with Emmanuel in the next couple of years.
Had the best time on this walking tour! Monty was great. It was nice to have a knowledgable guide take us around and show us the local areas/street art while eating delicious food. Would definitely do it again!
This experience was enjoyable to see, taste, and feel the culture and history around Cancun. My friends and I had the pleasure of taking the tour with Alex. Alex was so kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. I enjoyed learning about the history of food and plants in the area. Taking a walking tour was a great opportunity to walk around the town, see different places, and try different foods. Alex was great to get to know and share knowledge with. Make sure you save room for all 5 stops! If not, you can take your food to go.
It ended up being just my partner and me on the tour, and our guide, David, was incredibly knowledgeable and knew all the best spots! We loved chatting with locals and experiencing authentic Mexican cuisine—highly recommend!
The tour was fantastic. Enrique was extremely knowledgeable about the food, history and culture. We had a lot of fun and an incredible food experience. We highly recommend it and definitely will do it again if the opportunity arises!
Loved this tour! Each food stop was delicious and unique. I liked how it incorporated authentic dishes from Oaxaca and Yucatan. But what really made the tour great was my guide, Emmanuel, he was perhaps the nicest person alive, fun to be around and all around friendly. When I come back next year with my parents I hope that he is still doing these tours. My recommendation to future tourists considering this tour is to definitely go hungry! (This was my only meal of the day and I still couldn't finish everything) Drinks I had: Chaya drink 😋 Foods I had: salbute, gordita with nopales, tacos de canasta, clayuda and a paleta de fresa. There was something else I forgot the name too and another place I wasn't able to go to cause I got too full. I've been on a couple of food tours but this one takes the cake. Thanks Emmanuel hope to see you again!
We did a seafood tour of Playa del Carmen. The food was great, but for me the magic was our guide Emmanuel. He was kind, funny, knowledgeable and made us feel at home in this Mexican town.
We had a tour with two other couples and Emmanuel was our tour guide. His energy was so great! We loved this tour. Great way to see more of the city
I loved everything about this tour, and it was a solo one which made it even more special. Henry was a delightful guide. I’m interested in street art so Henry took me to lots of art. The food was all delicious and I had a great time.
Fabulous tour for our group of 11! Manny was an amazing host and kept us entertained and well fed the entire time. I can't wait to try the tour in other cities in Mexico!
We had a wonderful time and laughed until we had tears in our eyes. Can’t ask for more than that! Emmanuel has a vivacious personality and was extremely accommodating to all our needs.
Enrique was very knowledgeable and made us feel safe our entire walk! filled our minds and bellies with amazing info and food!
A very entertaining and enriching experience. Our guide was the best, with lots of stories to tell about both the roots of Mexican culture, the area and of course the food. 10/10 will definitely recommend.
Really wonderful tour. Our guides were incredibly friendly and were great with kids. Absolutely perfect blend of cuisine and culture. Highly recommended!!
Alex our tour guide was great, very informative and the food bites were so good, definitely a must do when in Cancun!
Alex led us on an informative and DELICIOUS food tour. He's friendly and made everyone comfortable. The stops at local food stands and restaurants gave us an excellent view of life in Cancun.
Enrique is an amazing guide. He had lots of information about each of the meals we had and the city.Realky pleasant fun guy, very funny, really really great human being. The fun was absolutely delicious. I recommend not eating prior to the tour as the mini meals add up and you get full.
Wonderful tour with Enrique! Local food and information as well Mayan history and culture and how ot relates to the Yucitan food
We had a great food tour with Enriquez today starting at a place in Market 28. We have 7 stops in all and covered a lot of the best of Mexican food. Favourites were the Salbutes and Conchiniti pibil and the magic ‘black sauce’!!
Eating With Carmen Food Tour - Cancun What a great food tour! Our guide, Dreyken, met us at the appointed time on a rainy morning. We had decided not to cancel despite the weather and are so glad he didn't. The rain lessened and Dreyken adjusted the itinerary to avoid flooded streets. He is a fantastic young man, very personable and knowledgeable of the food of Yucatan and Cancun. All of our stops were at places frequented by locals, not a tourist in sight. And the food was delicious. Two of the dishes were fantastic and my only regret was not remembering their names. (I suggest you take photos and ask your guide to write a list of the dishes.) Only one was not to our liking. But tastes differ, and the whole purpose was to experience food that you wouldn't likely try at a resort hotel. And calling our desert a popsicle is an understatement. These are dozens of flavors of ice cream and other frozen treats on a stick. Gelato is available too. The places we stopped at were clean and I never had any health concerns. We were always offered several options from the menu and variations of each. We usually followed Dreyken's suggestions. Drinks were always provided and at one stop we had a delicious shake and at another a rice-based drink. An unexpected bonus, the result of the weather, is that the two of us ended up with a private tour. This provided us the opportunity to talk with Dreyken about his self, and us, on a variety of subjects. For us, it included Norse mythology. If you are lucky enough to take this food tour and meet Dreyken, you'll have a great experience. A couple notes: This is a food tour, and though you can order alcohol, it is not a booze tour. Make sure you give your taxi driver the name of the supermarket in Mercado 28, if it is your meeting point. Mercado 28 is the name of the neighborhood, and if you are not specific, you might be dropped off a few minutes away from the supermarket.
Interesting walk around a Cancun market and good to try some truly local dishes, but didn't get to see any art, which was disappointing given how the trip is billed.
Great food tour! Dreyken, our guide was amazing and the stops and food were exactly what we were looking for. Foods that we may not otherwise try as tourist. The panuchos were the best bite during our stay. Definitely do this tour if you want to explore Cancun, try Mexican food other than tacos! We will be looking out for you, Dreyken!
Enrique was engaging and had great historical and local knowledge. He kept our family (teens and preteen) entertained the whole time and took us to several local spots that we would not have found on our own. The food was great and the tour was better!
This was a really great experience. Dreyken was knowledgeable about the food, the city and the history of Cancun. He was personable and kind. The tacos were delicious. Very tasty tacos. Try the fresh fish Gordita taco. I also had a mobility scooter and Dreyken was so patient as I scooted around in my knee scooter slowly from taco shop to taco shop. I would recommend 💯
The Guided Cancun Local Mexican Food Tour was an absolute delight! We’ve been to Mexico 5 times and this was the most authentic experience we’ve had. Enrique, our guide, was not only knowledgeable about the local cuisine but also passionate about sharing its flavors and history. From gorditas to traditional dishes, every stop was a culinary adventure. We even got to try a delicacy called Huitlacoche! Enrique's insights and recommendations truly made the experience unforgettable. If you're looking to explore Cancun's authentic food scene, this tour with Enrique is a must-do!
We had an incredible time with Diego, he was really knowledgeable, and gave us a great introduction to local cuisine! We would highly recommend!
Absolutely wonderful tour, our guide Dreyken was immensely knowledgeable and very friendly, and our route covered so many beautiful restaurants with delicious dishes. Would strongly recommend to anyone staying in Cancun.
Our tour guide, Dreyken, was wonderful! He was knowledgeable about the food and local history, and he was fun, interactive, and so personable. The food was amazing. He took us to little "off the beaten" path places that we never would have found on our own, and he made sure that we were taken care of in each place. Delightful tour! We will go on that tour everytime we are in Cancun.
Was a good tour except for the 2nd stop. Found the pork dry with only spicy sauce offered. Guacamole would have been A good alternative. Dreyken was a great guide. Except that he said he would send us pictures. It has been a week and we haven’t seen anything. That’s disappointing.
Dreyken was excellent and as interesting as the food. His historical background and stories on Cancún and the food that we sampled was insightful.
We had a great few hours with Dreyken leaning about much of the Mexican cuisine as well as Mayan history. We explored many downtown locations we would never have found on our own and the food was terrific! Dreyken was a great tour guide - lots of knowledge to share as he was raised here. Great option while in Cancun.
