John was our tour guide and we had a great time! He gives a thorough and engaging history of Cancún and Mexico through the street art and architecture of the city, as well as the background of different local artists. I’d recommend doing this tour early on your vacation, especially if you are staying in the hotel zone, as you will get a much more authentic view of Cancún as well as recommendations of where to eat authentic food and places to visit. Thank you John for a great morning :)

A nice walk (but it is almost 2 two-hour walk, so be prepared) around Cancun with seeing many murals. If street art is of interest to you - this will be a pearl of the visiting Cancun. By ourselves, we would not find even a small portion of it and would know no historical facts behind it.
What a wonderful experience. I was on a very nice resort that someone else picked. I really questioned as I was heading into town if I was making the best use of my time by leaving. Man oh man was this tour with it. Firstly I love street art and have been on several street at walking tours in other places so I knew what I was going for but Jon @jonathanbautista was an excellent tour guide, an artist himself and resident of cancun I felt like I really understood so much more context of the city and the past five years of the city in a way I never would have otherwise. He was fantastic and let me prattle on about comparisons to Toronto very graciously ( I was the only one on my tour so I wasn't annoying anyone else I promise.) There is some shockingly good artist in Cancun - I knew there would be but the layering and layering of culture and symbolism and sheer beauty in the work totally bowled me over. I felt safe at every point of the tour and we didn't go anywhere remotely dangerous. He also had great Paleta recommendations. I am thinking about going back to Cancun and it's because of this experience. Otherwise it kind of felt like any other resort vacation. This made Cancun feel like a destination city in and of itself. I got recommendations from residents to use uber and not cabs. This is what I did and felt very safe and had good experiences using uber both ways.
John was the best tour guide! Highly recommend this. A great opportunity to explore the rich culture and have an authentic Mexican experience.
Street art tour is he best way to explore neighborhoods of Cancun, since being such a young city it cannot offer much signature places in terms of history or architecture. But the artistic arena is great and this tour helped us to discover Cancun from new perspective by enjoying masterpieces of local and international artists through graffiti and murals. Michelle, our guide, who is an artist herself took good care of us introducing us to the vibrant forms and colors of the Cancun’s street art scene. Highly recommended if you’d like to treat yourself with something more than only beach life :)
John was wonderful! Very informative about the area and history of Cancun. He had a unique perspective since he is an artist and photographer, and was able to give insight on the murals.
The tour was perfectly timed and very informative. We had opportunities to take as many photos as we wanted. Very relaxed atmosphere, lovely tour guide, would recommend this tour to all. Thank you Michelle for showing us around downtown Cancun. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you and to learn so much about the murals that we saw on our tour.
John was our tour guide and what a pleasure! You won’t be disappointed!! Beautiful art, great conversation!!! Very knowledgeable, we had a wonderful experience!!
Excellent tour! This was my 3rd time doing it and it’s different each time. I highly recommend this! The insight of what message the artist is sending, techniques used in their art and even some history of Cancun!
My husband and I enjoyed our art tour very much!! The art was beautiful and each piece had a detailed story behind it, which we would not have gotten without our guide, John. John was super knowledgeable of the area and even showed us a quesadilla restaurant he recommended on our route (we stopped there for lunch after the tour, it was delicious)! Definitely recommend this tour and John if you want to venture outside Hotel Zone and see some authentic Mexican culture.😊
John was fantastic! Very knowledgeable about culture and the art itself. Ask questions because he is great in getting you more detail. The only problem was meeting up. There was no house with the actual address on it. This is not a problem. You will come to a square with a park having LOTS of murals. Go there and wait. And while you wait, check out the wonderful murals behind you and get you mind working. John also knows a variety of restaurants for different cuisines including plant-based.
We had a wonderful tour with John, who was very personable and knowledgeable about local murals and the stories behind them. He even gave us great recommendations for quesadillas, tacos, and churros nearby (we highly recommend sticking around the neighborhood for some good food and drinks afterwards!).
We attempted to find our starting point without success. We hired a local taxi driver to bring us to the tour and he was not able to locate find the square. He attempted calling twice with no answer on the phone and asked various others for information. It is unfortunate that we were not able to enjoy your tour.
This personalized tour through the streets of Cancun to check out the street art was fabulous. Our guide John was a local to Cancun and educated us about the art we saw as well as local culture and history. A fun and unforgettable experience!
This tour was so fun! Our tour guide John was super friendly and kind. He was extremely knowledgeable about all of the murals. We learned so much about the street art of Cancun.. but also about the culture and history of the area. Fantastic!!
Óscar, our guide, was very personable and knowledgeable about the local food, art and history of Cancún. The pace was very comfortable going from one restaurant to the next and during the walk between them we came across points of interest near and around Parque de las Palapas. Anastasiya who organized the Tour was very gracious and accommodating when our original graffiti walk got cancelled. She offered the seafood Tour instead and took on the extra cost while still providing an excellent experience that satisfied what I was looking for in a Tour of local color.
Had the tour together with John and it was great (even it was raining). John told a lot about the Murals and took the time to take pictures. Strongly reccomend to book the Tour. The organizational part and the communication with Anastasiya was perfect. She is so nice and supportive to get a great experience.
Our guide, Michelle, was great! She's an artist and knows many of the muralists personally. She was able to share many details and a lot of knowledge of the symbolism behind the murals. She was patient with us as we asked questions and took lots of pictures. She also thoughtfully included stops for bathrooms and beverages during the walking tour.
This was a nice and informative tour.. If you like street art, you will enjoy walking the streets and hearing the history of art located in the streets of Cancun Michelle was great and knowledgeable Also want to give a shout out to Anastasiya who coordinated this tour, Taco Tour and Wine Tasting Every tour flowed smoothly .. We also paid extra for transportation which was fantastic.. Drivers were cordial and vans were very clean. Great tours and highly recommend
Awesome and can’t be missed! This was my second art tour and they just get better. There is so much great street art in Mexico and to have an artist show them to you, explain the meaning and share info on the artist is a great experience!
You don’t want to miss this tour! The street art is fabulous - as well as the insight into the artists’ that created them and the point they are wanting to get across with each one. I want to come back and take my boyfriend (who isn’t interested in art but saw pics and wished he had gone...)!
Very cool tour about graffiti, artists and Mexicos culture. You are surrounded by colors and the flavour of the oldest city parts of Cancun. We could even take our dog with us:) At the end Anastasia recommended us some great places to eat and enjoy! You will miss something, if you don’t book this tour.
This experience was absolutely incredible, my favorite thing I did in Cancún! Anastasiya was very kind and informative, gave us a very personal experience, showed us good places to eat and visit in downtown, and offered to take pictures of us in front of all the awesome murals! We viewed over 10 incredible murals/art pieces all over the downtown area and were told about the process and meaning behind each of them, as well as the artists. I felt so welcomed and enjoyed the entire morning, very nice and calm break from going to the beach everyday, and I learned a lot about the history of cancún and the culture there. I will not spoil the beautiful pieces of art for you, so I attached a picture of the meeting spot in the jardin del art near parque de las palapas.
John was absolutely AWESOME! His knowledge of the different artists, murals and history of the city itself was impressive. We had a slight issue making it to the meeting spot with our taxi. So, John stayed with us after the tour to make sure we got on the correct bus back to our hotel.
Jonathan & Anastasiya did a great job on the Street Art Tour. Not only do you get to see interesting & spectacular pieces, but you will learn about street art, how it is done & it's most famous practitioners. They also introduce you to the downtown area and a little history of the city. Both were happy to answer any question. Cancun is not just the beaches! Go!
We did the street art tour on our last day in Cancun with Luis. It was an amazing way to wander the streets and see the beautiful street art with the guidance of someone who understands. Luis was engaging and full of information about the art and Cancun in general. He was flexible and clearly passionate about the art. We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Luis and learning and seeing amazing art around the city. It was definitely a highlight of our vacation.
Highly recommend this tour if you would like to experience the art of mural paintings in Cancun city center. John Bautista was our guide. Being a graffiti artist himself he showed us wonderful pieces of street art, answered all our questions, gave helpful tips and hints about the city. Glad we made it!
We had a great with Ana that gave us awesome insight into Street Art culture and technique as well as an appreciation for Cancún history. We saw pieces by world famous artists – some of whom we were familiar with – and got to learn about different kinds of street art. We even accidentally passed by some work from our very own guide, which she was very humble about. It was great to get a insider’s view from somebody that participates in the local arts scene. Mahalo nui!
My daughters & I had a great tour with John. He was both knowledgeable and passionate about his community. More than just a street art tour but a look and discussion about Cancun and its neighborhoods. I would do the tour again in a few years with John to see what is new in local wall art but also to talk about how Cancun is changing and hopefully becoming more than just a beach & sun tourist town,
John was lovely, you could see the passion in his face as he explained the pieces on the walls. I really enjoyed the morning
