I was excited to go but first the transportation was late. Then the places they took us to were not the best. They were in a bad part of town and it was so gloomy. The food and drink selection were not much to chose from. The drinks were watered down. I wouldn't waste my money.
Alexis and Arturo where wonderful! Extremely enjoyed the authentic dishes that Mexico offered and the passion and knowledge that Alexis put into our tour. Highly recommend it does not disappoint!!!
Aldo and Alex are excellent hosts. The tacos, drinks, and desserts were excellent. I would recommend this trip to anyone.
This was an excellent tour and lots of fun. The food was incredible. You can book directly with Cancun Food Tour. They are very flexible, willing to work with you if you experience scheduling problems. They pick you up and take you back. It was a wonderful small tour experience. Hector is a great guide.
Our Tour a guide - can’t remember his name, but he was Lebanese. He was an awesome guide, very knowledgeable about Cancun, the Mayans, and of course Food & Tequila.
All my fellow foodies, this is THE tour to do. Hector (our guide) and Leo (our driver) were amazing. The food was DELICIOUS and AUTHENTIC. And the drinks kept coming. We were so full by the end and had the best time ever. This is a must-do in Cancun. Well worth the price and very organized trip. Would do it again honestly.
This is a great way to venture out to some local restaurants and food vendors in the area. All good choices of food and drinks were included. I would recommend this to anyone. I was so full!
A wonderful evening tasting a verity of food and restaurants. My favorite was the tiny mom and pop local restaurant, with amazing tamales. Our guide did an amazing job. The one thing I would change is I would like more time at the local plaza trying the food carts. We only had a little while and I could have spent a hour or more there.
Our guide was fantastic (I’m bad with names but believe it was Hector) and took the time to explain the history of each restaurant we stopped at. The food at each stop was excellent and the drinks were equally good. The night market was a neat place with local crafts and the best churros I’ve had yet. We left with full stomachs, great memories, and a couple bottles of good tequila.
This was the best tour! Definitely worth the money! We loved the tour guide G and the food was good!
We did the guided Mexican Food and Spirits tour. Claudia our tour guide was exceptional, she not only explained the ingredients of what we were eating/tasting, but she also gave us a small history lesson of the Cancun area and Mayan culture. My group of 4 especially enjoyed learning about the culture of the area! We’ve already decided to come back and bake it a point to do another food tour or cook class. Thanks so much to Angel and Claudia for the exceptional service! If you’re trying to decide if this inactivity is for you, I definitely recommend. The food, drinks, and service were awesome! 10/10 recommend!
A million thanks to Claudia for being so knowledgeable and taking us to amazing restaurants. We got to learn the history behind some of these restaurants (most were homes) and we even got to try different things (to me) such as roasted crickets. Claudia made the evening super fun and Alex was our driver and got us everywhere safely! This tour is definitely worth it, I just wish we went at the end of our stay because I didn’t want any other food after that! Make sure if you go, you’re super hungry because you’ll be stuffed, but I can’t rave enough on how great the food is!! Thank you so much Claudia and Alex for making this memorable.
Great experience. A lot of food, so pace yourselves! We enjoyed everything and the explanations of the food were informative.
What a wonderul evening. It starts with hotel pickup that is appreciated. We had 4 stops with 2 tastes at each location with drinks. We were so full by the end of the tour. All the stops were good and you get a great taste with so much variety. We wanted more than tacos and that is what we got along with great tacos! A truly great tour and even a little shopping at the last stop. Awesome resturant selections that we would have never found staying on the hotel zone and gave us a picture of what downtown Cancun has to offer and we loved it. Shout out to Rodrigo and Alex for taking such excellent care of us! We would do this tour again just to go back for the tasty food.
Rodrigo and Antonio made the excursion a special trip. We were celebrating a birthday while eating great food. Will be taking this excursion again
While the food was great at 3 of the stops, I was disappointed the tour did not fulfill its description in the Viator website. It was characterized as 4-5 hours. With transport and drop-off of other participants it was less than four hours. We also were informed there would be food and spirits at three of the four stops and that was not accurate. The Mayan restaurant offered flavored water. The last stop to experience dessert at a local market was also a big let down. There were lots of options and multiple vendors to choose from. We were not given opportunity to choose and the guide bought us all Churros at the first vendor. You can readily get those in Costco and other places in US and this could have been a greater opportunity to experience different types of Mexican cuisines, which the guide described but didn’t offer us a choice. For $79 this was hardly different than the taco tour which was less $$. I am not sure I could recommend this as it did not live up to the description.
It ended up being a private tour for 2 and it was perfect! Rodrigo, our tour guide was super friendly, very authentic with his desire to provide an awesome experience and incredibly knowledgeable! Also the food and drinks were pretty amazing and definitely a great way to experience authentic cancun cuisine. Definitely recommend!
Our guide was excellent, providing history of Cancun and the restaurants as we went along. The food was incredible and was definitely a top pick your. I would absolutely do this again.
Amazing taco experience provided by local guides who take very good pride on what they are doing. You get to visit 4 different places where you get as many different tacos plus a beer in each place. Special mention to quesabirria, delicious. To top it up, you have churros as desert. 100% recommendable.
Definitely worth the money and time! Claudia took us to some places we never would have found on our own. The food and drinks were great, and there was a LOT of food. We were able to try some food that we probably wouldn’t have tried if we ordered ourselves. Come very, very hungry! We learned about some history of Cancun, culture, the restaurants we visited, as well as the food. Even if we had found the restaurants, we would not have learned nearly as much without this tour. Plus, it was nice to just enjoy the food and drink without the effort of finding our way around, or driving/finding a taxi.
Our guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the cuisine and history. The food was absolutely amazing! It was enjoyable to see downtown without being worried about getting lost. This excursion is a must!! We loved it!
We had a great time on this tour. Rodrigo and Nav were excellent tour guides and taught us a lot about the history of the food we were eating. Because we were a small group, they also took us to see some painted murals in town and explained the history, importance and culture of the murals which was a great bonus. All the restaurants were very authentic and all the food and drink was delicious. We felt very safe and well taken care of from door to door.
Great experience! Our tour guide, Claudia, was exceptional. She’s super knowledgeable and passionate about what she does. The food was amazing and it was nice learning about the history of Cancun and it’s cuisine. I highly recommend!
Diego was very friendly and informative throughout the tour. We really enjoyed the tequila and mezcal margaritas! Watch out for the mariachi band too!
Getting to experience the different food and cultures and the street fair. Get some history of the restaurants
Amazing local food and drink! This was a second time with Cancun Food Tours because the first one (an adults only friends trip) was so phenomenal we HAD to return with the whole family on our next trip. Each stop was better then the last but the best part was the warmth and fun of our guides Claudia and Angel! We truly experienced the history and culture of Cancun in a comfortable and safe environment with strangers who became friends. The kids 16 & 20 have not stopped talking about it!!!
Nav was very knowledgeable about cancun and the restaurants we visited were very authentic and delicious
Amazing tour! Kept it authentic! The tour guide was crazy knowledgeable and made it a memorable experience. I learned so much about Hispanic cuisine. Highly recommend.
Diego was great! The food was great! And the drinks were great. If you’re looking for a good way to find local restaurants, this is the way to do it
No showed us. DO NOT BOOk!!!! Would not answer phones, email or WhatsApp messages. Don’t use don’t use don’t use! Many any options to enjoy.
If you're not staying at a hotel, be prepared to find a ride to a meeting. Other than that, we really enjoyed ourselves. Our tour guide has wonderful. All good vibes
Didn't end up going on this tour in the end as there was a mix up with times. Our guide seemed to have one time & us another. So he left without us. Told us to contact the company to reschedule. This is proving difficult as no one answers the phone when we call. Not impressed. Want a refund since we didn't get what we paid for, & will keep trying to get it. Wouldn't book this tour again. :-(
I had a wonderful time!! Our guide and driver was so accommodating and show us a great time. Love the food choices even the crickets. A great time was had by all..
When we were picked up, all passengers had purchased a different option, but we all made the best of it! Our guide did a great job working through it (was not his fault). But my advice would be to just get the Tacos and Beer tour.. we paid twice as much almost for this one and to appease everyone, rolled with it.
It was a fun experience overall and leaving the tourist bubble under controlled environment was cool. The guide was funny and engaging, very informative on much more matters than food. The variety of food was very good and tasty, the fact that they offer three different culinary experiences makes it worthwhile, drink sampling is fun too. The live music is amazing but have to pay extra to have them play for you, you can opt not to pay and listen to them play for other tables which makes it a little weird if you don't do it especially if you want to take a video or join in a dance. Overall I would recommend the tour, wouldn't say much about social distancing seeing that we were just two in the van. However, would have loved more time on the tour, especially on the last two places.. El Parrira (Mariachi place) and El Parque de las Palapas (street food).. we were picked at 1800hrs dropped at 2100hrs (give or take).
An amazing tasting experience of the local foods and beverages of Cancun! Places we would never find and even attempt to hit in a week was accomplished in one night. Javier was way more than a tour guide, he explained every locals stop in great detail, from the rich story of each restaurant, the fabulous food and beverages, and a history lesson of Cancun. Take it from a foodie and do one night away from the all inclusive and do #cancunfoodtours.
Mariachi birthday serenade at one place. Missed pickup and tour guide was very accommodating in helping us catch up. Good food, great drinks.
The tour guide was very friendly and flexible with allowing us to choose what we want at each restaurant. The restaurants were all great too.
Our tour with Cancun Food Tours was absolutely incredible! We were so excited to have booked this particular tour, and it proved to be the best part of our entire vacation. Angel the tour guide was an absolute sweetheart, knowledgeable and fun to be with. We would 10/10 recommend this tour to anyone who loves Authentic Mexican Food and will never forget Angel and the experiences we had on this tour. From the delicious food to the marvelous cerveza and cocktails... not one bad offering. We also appreciated be opportunity to experience the local park and dessert options. If we could have booked this tour multiple times during this trip I think we definitely would have.
They are not practicing social distancing. They do require masks and give out hand sanitizer but the pick up vans are packed in with all the other tourists when they’re driving you around. At the first restaurant, they only had 1 table and I told the tour guide that I wasn’t going to be sitting right next to strangers with my mask off. The guide was accommodating and got me and my husband a separate table. At the other restaurants we were then spaced out. Not everyone was wearing their masks in the van either, and I had to remind one family to put their masks back on. Overall the food tour was decent and the guide was friendly. Definitely not the best food tour I’ve been on though. Hopefully they will make improvements on their COVID guidelines.
The guide Angel was fantastic. He shared personal stories, he was very knowledgeable about the food and history of the restaurants. We tried food we would not have known to try and went to places we would not have found on our own. Great night complete with Mariachi band
We booked the Cancun Food and Spirits tasting online after reading their enhanced covid precautions carefully. It was vague, but they mentioned social distancing enforced throughout experience. We were picked up in the lobby of our resort in a 27 seat bus at 5:15. I expressed alarm to the guide at the size of the transport and he confirmed it was a 25 person tour. Even in normal times, an $89 tour is too expensive if we are not going to get a fairly personalized experience from the guide which is not possible with that many in the group. With serious hesitation we decided to continue. When the second couple was picked up, the guide volunteered to them we were expected to arrive at the first restaurant at 6:30. We spent over an hour on the bus picking people up. The entire bus had only two empty seats- from no shows. People were asked to wear masks and given sanitizer, but the mask wearing was not enforced and people wore them improperly or took them off. Social distancing was non existent with people directly in front, behind and next to you. As we continued, I confirmed with the guide- different parties will at least be at different tables, right? No. But he did call all of the restaurants and arrange for our party to have our own table while we were picking up other guests, which we very much appreciated. We arrived at the first location and were greeted with a margarita and a ceviche tostada which were both very tasty. A second empanada dish (also very good) and it was back on the bus. We were bussed to all locations (quite far apart) as opposed to bussed to one location for a walking tour as the tour information indicated. We got a super quick and brief history of the restaurant from our guide as he spent all his time going up and down the large group table with the rest of the tour groups. The second location we had a pork tostada that was ok, and local fruit juices as they did not serve alcohol. At the third location we had a head taco which was just ok. We are familiar with head meat and have no problem eating it, but it had little flavor and was just meat and a corn tortilla. Would have liked flavor, onion, cilantro. No liquor at the second stop on our spirit tasting tour.. just a selection of bottled Mexican beers. The final restaurant served very tasty beef and pork tacos. We were served a Mezcal drink, the house specialty. Our drinks had no Mezcal in them, possibly an honest mistake. When we mentioned it the guide suggested ordering shots of mezcal separately to add, which we did, and then it tasted very good- a nice blend of smoke and pineapple. We were supposed to pay extra for the shots but didn’t end up being charged possible because of the mistake but our guide was again busy with other guests so not quite sure what happened. We finished the meal with a half shot of anise, which had a local story to go along with it. The last stop was a walk around a local nightlife park- small rides, shops and a gigantic bag of churros for dessert. Overall our guide was great- we would have loved to spend more time with him but he did the absolute best anyone could do under those circumstance. The covid precautions were a joke. They had you hand sanitizer at every step- but no mask enforcement, packed bus, and a gigantic group table where everyone takes off their masks to eat. Great way for a bunch of strangers to infect each other! The food was either really great or really meh (half and half). Very little emphasis on the spirits and no thought to the spirit/food tasting. Two of the four places were just tacos. Overall I would not recommend due to the size of the group- and that is x1000 with the pandemic.
Absolutely fantastic experience! Angel was so friendly and knowledgeable. Miguel was also a great driver! They were on time and made sure that we never felt rushed and enjoyed the whole experience. Would love to also try AbgWill absolutely recommend them to others!
I had an amazing experience...this was literally my first tour within hours of arriving to Cancun and It was the perfect welcome to my trip. Angel was extremely friendly, Knowledgeable, and professional, and took care of everyone and their unique dietary needs. The tour stops were all very unique and authentic. come with an empty stomach and an open mind and you'll have a blast! I even revisited some of the restaurants we visited during the rest of my stay....Would highly recommend! Thank you Angel!
Awesome job! Enjoyed the evening with Angel - our driver was awesome as well - he drove us they some flooded streets with ease!
Angel was wonderful! He did a fantastic job explaining the history of the area and telling me about the delicious food I was eating. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone visting Cancun.
If you only plan to do one thing outside of your hotel, I cannot recommend a food tour enough. It really is the best way to experience a new culture and its people. The flavors of all our dishes had a simple complexity that leaves your palate spinning with pleasure. Well it did ours anyway. And I am confident to say that I got to have the best margarita I’ve ever had on this tour. Just thinking about it is making my mouth water. Our guide Angel, really made the experience top notch. He gave us history of Cancun and went in depth about each restaurant and dish we experienced. Our group was small, consisting of only 3 tourist total. Angel made sure to ask about food allergies and communicate them to the restaurants. He even arranged a birthday surprise for my husband at one of the restaurants. That was so awesome!
Our tour with Angel was wonderful! Angel was knowledgeable and the food was amazing! Would highly recommend this tour to everyone.
This food tour was excellent. Being guided by a local in a city that you are not familiar with, and where you don't speak the language is such a great way to relax and enjoy and learn about the local food. Our guide Cayetano was excellent. The food was excellent and tasty at at all the stops. We had ceviche tostadas, garnished with fired crickets (yes I ate them - when is there a better time to try something new, then on a food tour?), shrimp empanadas, traditional Yucatan style pork tacos with beans INSIDE a layer in the corn tortillas and enchiladas with hard boiled eggs and a mole made from pumpkin seeds, handmade tortillas and street style tacos and cactus, and street food marguesitas at the local square. My husband is vegan and all of the vegan choices were excellent. I would have been happy with what he had, except I would have missed the ceviche. We only received 2 alcoholic drinks, but it was not a big deal. What I loved the most about the tour was being able to visit and eat at true local places that would have been difficult o find on our own. Overall an excellent and tasty experience. Great value.
