Photos are misleading, you are going to be in a coral filled area. We barely saw any animals and not only that we didn’t even see any colorful fish. The tequila tasting photo is misleading. We had broken masks and were swallowing the salt water due to this problem. We were told to follow the line but when you’re in the water it’s hard to see where the line is actually going. You get stuck behind people going the wrong way and not to mention going over the coral instead of around it. This was a scary experience and wasn’t fun at all. We had to walk through thick seaweed to get on and off the boat up to the waist. Multiple people experienced water going up their masks and goggles fogging up. The instructor told us to put our saliva in the googles to prevent fogging and that did absolutely nothing. We were cramped on a boat the photos made it see more private. The beachside lunch was a three big pieces of cold fried chicken on a flour tortilla….. we didn’t receive a menu. When I booked this trip I remembered seeing a photo of a lunch menu and when I looked back it was gone. Just don’t waste your time.

Such a wonderful experience! Maui, Francis, Jackie, and the entire team were so welcoming and kind from start to finish. We booked the VIP snorkeling experience along with the tequila tasting, and it was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. Everyone was attentive, knowledgeable, and clearly loves what they do. We got to see a nurse shark, which was incredible, and the photos turned out amazing. Having them taken by a former National Geographic photographer was such a cool bonus. The whole experience was beautiful, fun, and so freeing. I would definitely recommend booking this excursion without hesitation. My only suggestion is to bring your own snorkeling gear, especially goggles, if you have them, just to make sure they fit comfortably.
The guide landy and her colleague/camera man were great ,friendly and attentive. tequila tasting with Francis was fabulous. The little restaurant where they served tacos was nice . Great excursion however they will not allow you to bring your go pro to record your snorkle experience . They're guide will take pictures that you will have to pay for later if you want them .
They could not pick me up at my hotel, so I had to get to downtown Playa del Carmen on my own. The reef is wonderful. There was a lot of sun, which allowed us to see many colors and fish in the surrounding area. The guides were very kind and explained the rules for entering the natural habitat of all these creatures. It was worth going into the sea. Other activities they have on land are also fun. The food is okay, although they could serve more generous portions. The transportation could also be improved.
Don't bother booking with these con artists. That was the worst trip ever, I'm just about to put it all over the internet, you pick up a 5ft10 girl and a 6ft2 man from Hyatt vivid and we have to ride all the way to the snorkeling on an illegal front middle seat and a front seat without working seatbelts. We get to the snorkeling, and it's the worse snorkeling we've ever done. This may be the 2nd biggest reef but your location is a sea meadow, absolutely rubbish. 20 mins of swimming through seaweed and with only seagrass to sea and barely any life. Murky and pointless Get back and rhey beg tips off us when we've already paid over £100 for two, for a terrible snorkeling experience. Absolute chaos. We arrived uncomfortable and with nerve pain from the cramped seated and hot engine seat with no air conditioning. We then are forced into a tequila tasting we were happy to skip. All an exercise to force us to buy more things. The free time walking the town isn't free time it is forcing us through market stalls to be pestered. No free time as stated. Off to the restaurant, and no vegan options. Food was disgusting then more sob stories for tips. Kept you there for an undue amount of time with nothing to do and uncomfortable. Had to pay 3 dollar for a water. Only one free water given between 820am and 4pm! Finally get on the bus to go back to the hotel. No air con, forced again on a tiny seat in the front over the engine as the bus was rammed and over sold. Can't not put legs anywhere ..bruised at every bump. I notice we are 5 th stop so took ages. Unbearable When asked to go into the back when others exited, the driver said no after the first people left. Get to the 2nd hotel and the manager comes out and says there has been an accident and police guards are there... We are then forced into back!!!! So the police don't see... But refused when we begged! The driver then drives us in and the hotel man reminds him to put his seatbelt on!!! In the phone the whole journey, music with swear words blasting out. I am livid, no decent snorkeling, no town free time, and no lunch and agony in a van in illegal seats and no air con. this is not as described. Both me and my husband are disgusted. We are both still in this hell bus and now the driver has to go back as he's just completely missed a guests stop. Worst trip ever. Tips begged by everyone, no photos allowed even though go pros are not lithium. All to sell photos of things you don't get to see! Avoid. Customer services doesn't care at all.
The service was exceptional along with the tequila. The dolphins were extraordinary considering the water type. The water was clear and overall i would rate this a 9.5/10. I took that point away because of the ride was a little bumpy but this was worth 60$.
Friendly staff. Snorkel site was not the best. Ideal for beginners. Our smaller children had a blast however, even in less than ideal conditions.
The tour was one of the best snorkeling experiences I’ve ever been on! There was a fantastic array of different sea creatures like turtles and stingrays, as well as a fantastic variety of information that made the tour very magical. Can’t thank Yas, Manuel and the team enough, they truly made today epic and I would not recommend a better service provider for the likes!
Great excursion, Good value for the price, tacos were great. DO NOT buy the VIP package. You will be satisfied with the basic option. They will help you out just as much and the extra price isnt worth the extra taco. As for the different location they offer with the VIP upgrade, as they say themselves, they cannot make the fish be in certain places so dont buy into the hype that you will see certain fish at the other location. There is no gaurantee
Snorkeling is tough! But it was fun. I would do it again now that I know how to do it lol but my husband had a blast. Maui was an awesome guide and Charley was a great photographer. Driver came quick to our hotel and on time.
The entire team was great. The fish and coral reef are beautiful. And the tequila tasting was fun. We would do it again.
Trying to upsell you too often including comments and pressure from the last shuttle driver for a big tip The one we gave him wasn’t good enough, obviously didn’t have to tip but when we gave him a tip he laughed and said that’s hardly worth tipping me so I just kept walking He was quite ignorant to my wife saying hey you don’t appreciate your ride Not good at all Everything else was terrific just not the last driver Very very bad man
Communication was poor and we were unable to even attend this experience due to unforseen medical circumstances that were not explicitly explained and are being refused a refund.
Great people! Care deeply about the ocean and reef. They take great pics as well! There is a tequila tasting and it is great!
A good experience. Tour was shorter than I expected. I also thought we would see more of the reef but stayed on the outside of it. Did see many different sea creatures such as a nurse shark, turtles, and sting rays.
We really liked the snorkeling but would have preferred a smaller group. Food great, tour guides most excellent! Convenient pick up from hotel.
This is a total tourist trap. We wasted 6 hours for 40 minutes of snorkeling. The snorkeling was ok. However, the time spent, the food, and beach were very very poor. We got to the place and it took over an hour to get us ready ad go to the boat. We snorkeled and got back about 11:15. Then they made us sit through a presentation, where they tried to sell us tequila for 45 minutes. Three measley tacos were served about 12:30, for “lunch”. then they gave us “free time”. “Free time” was basically being stranded in a dated tourist area, while all the locals merchants harassed us. We escaped to the beach, which is a dirty rundown track of boats. If you want to snorkel, try to find a trip without the “extra activities”
I will start with how the snorkeling experience itself was great for the 45ish minutes we got to snorkel. The reef was beautiful and full of wildlife. The staff were fairly interactive and made the experience itself enjoyable. Now for the FYI for everyone looking to book this tour. There are quite a few extra rules we were unaware of as well as extras to the excursion that are not posted in the information here. 1) You will not be allowed to take pictures via go pro or underwater camera/bring your phone with you onto the boat (they offer pictures for you which you obviously have to pay a premium price for). You also will not be allowed to bring practically any personal belongings, all of which they have lockers available for deposit so ensure you bring extra cash for the deposit (I believe it was $200 pesos or so). 2) You can NOT wear any sun screen on this excursion (INCLUDING REEF SAFE SUN SCREEN). Do not go purchasing expensive reef safe sun screen for this trip as you will be told to wash any sun screen off of you in the showers at the tour meeting point. 3) The tour is offered on the website to children as young as 3 years old but should be more like a 6-7+ range as the equipment they have will not fit a toddler/younger child. As stated in the excursion info everyone attending should be able to/be comfortable with swimming on their own. 4) The tour is listed to have a duration of 4 hours. This will not include travel time and wait times for shuttles. Do not expect to be picked up immediately once your excursion is complete. We ended up having to wait an additional 2 hours for pick up which brought our total time from pick up to drop of at roughly 7.5 hours. 5) The tour unexpectedly has a tequila tasting after snorkeling which was actually a great surprise and enjoyable. However, if you are doing this excursion with your kids they will be sitting there for up to an hour doing nothing while you taste tequila with the tour group so keep that in mind. 6) Unfortunately the beach lunch is underwhelming and you are limited to 3 small bland tacos per person. Be sure to pack snack or bring extra cash if you intend on having lunch out in Puerto Morelos. As stated above, you likely won't be back at your hotel for a a couple hours once the excursion ends. 7) Not so much a surprise to most who have been to Mexico before/done excursions like this before. You will be expected to tip for many of the services provided so bring some extra cash with you (tour guides, tequila tasting guide, lunch staff, lunch entertainment.) Hope this info helps anyone looking to book this trip. Cheers.
Honestly this was not the best tour. There were alot of issues with it- first of all being that this tour is NOT as advertised online!!! On trip adviser it says it is a 4 hour tour. We arrived at 1:30pm and were told that the shuttle wouldn’t be back to pick us up until 6:00pm. False advertising!!! Some people in our tour actually left early because they had dinner reservations. Another issue is that there was a tequila tasting included which was not advertised (which I’m not mad about but they should probably advertise that anyway). There seemed to be a lot of incompetence and not good communication on behalf of the tour guides and tour operators. And the restaurant they took us to totally sucked!!! They were out of fish tacos even though they are a “seafood” restaurant. What a joke. Book another tour
Really good excursion, our family loved it and appreciated the guides. Everyone was friendly and efficient! Thank you. The Rowland family.
I wish I could snorkel longer especially since I had to wait for an hour. I also didn’t care for the other activities and had to get a taxi back
Actual snorkeling time was limited to just over an hour. I would have very much liked to visit a second site on the reef. Tequila tasting was good but not all in the group drank alcohol and the taco's for lunch were nice
Excursion was canceled due to weather. They scheduled for hotel pickup at 12:15pm. I go wait in lobby I’m waiting I’m waiting at 12:45pm I call and ask was there a problem dude like oh it’s canceled today because of weather 🤔 I’m just like were you ever going to call and say that an email would suffice but trip advisor did refund money in 2 days so that was nice.
This was a very fun experience. Jorge is a great guide, taught us everything we needed to know about the speed boats and lead everyone on a fun ride. The snorkeling is pretty short, so if you're looking for a primarily snorkeling experience, this isn't the one, but it's still great fun to drive the boats, see the mangroves, and do a little beginner snorkeling. Overall, I really enjoyed myself. It was easy to get to on the bus from our hotel.
Amazing and so fun! After picking up our life jackets and snorkel equipment, we were shown how to operate the speed boats. You will drive through the jungle, see flamingos, stop to snorkel through clear water and a chance to see tropical fish and an underwater statues! Get ready for some bumps, driving in circles and lots of memories!!
Wonderful experience! Hector and his crew was very kind. Chris our guide was fantastic! Sorry we didn’t tip Chris but we gave our cash to the dancers. Worth every penny. The picture price for special moments captured was extremely reasonable compared to other activities. Even the food as the corn tortillas was handmade. Thank you for the memories! Even your little friend the crocodile under the walk way.
I booked this trip on request of my brothers (19 and 21), but it wasn't something I personally wanted to do. But reflecting at the end of the trip, this was my favorite thing we did! The speedboats are fast (although my brothers wanted to go faster, lol) and the snorkeling was very good. We went snorkeling last year in Cancun and had a horrible experience and this made up for it! I would recommend bringing a hat and sunglasses with straps and extra sunscreen. We all got a bit burnt. During the snorkeling portion, stay near the guide if you are able because they were able to point out different fish and corals. There was one couple that chose not to snorkel and one of the guides stayed with them on the boats. We kept our stuff in the provided lockers and ended up buying 2 photos at the end because they were great quality, I believe we paid $35 for 2. Overall we really enjoyed this experience and felt safe the whole time!
Took about an hour to finally find a snorkeling tour with a good price shown and time. So I clicked the 11:00 am slot and proceeded with all my pay information, submitted payment, and the reservation was confirmed. However, as my wife and I were leaving our hotel room later that evening for dinner, I received a phone call telling me that our reserved time slot was not available. I was then told the next available time was early in the morning the next day but that time was not suitable for us. So I politely asked to simply receive a refund. But because the "cancellation" was within 24 hours, I was put through their process in which I had to call the Viator tour company myself to request that. I tried to explain over the phone that I should not have to REQUEST anything because it was not OUR fault and that the refund should be automatic. I was only told that their "system" could not do that. So, I spent precious time on our vacation the next day making calls and having to go through a whole explanation thing in which the customer agent seemed confused because his records showed that I was offered and had agreed to go on the tour at another time. I certainly had not. After a day I finally received notice that sounded like I would get a refund in 3-7 business days. (Round two) I spent another hour looking for another tour with an appropriate time slot. Unfortunately, none of the tours show their parent company with their information until the very end when you book. Fortunately, I found one that began from a different marina and with and boat type and price structure. So I assumed it was a different company than Viator. I also received immediate tickets with bar codes, unlike my previous booking. But my hope was short-lived, I noted at the bottom of the ticket that it had been issued through Viator. Later that afternoon, I received a call that the time slot I reserved was not available. Rather than go through the living hell of trying to get a refund, I reluctantly agreed to go with their "other" comparable tour which at first they imlied would be at the same time and meeting place. Neither were true. And there was NOTHING about the tour that was comparable. My wife and I was put on a dive boat that took us out in a storm in deep waters. One of the guides just laughed that we booked a snorkel tour on a dive trip. My wife and I struggled with the current and we couldn't see much on the bottom (over 6m below us at all times). Our boat broke down on the way back and took over an hour longer to get into dock.
The speedboat portion was the highlight. The snorkeling was a bit brief, but our guide was kind and attentive.
The overall experience was really great! Riding around in a speedboat in the middle of Cancun waters was just breathtaking. The snorkeling was great. Saw lots of fishes. The ride was pretty long and satisfying. Speed boat was easy to use and our tour guide did a great job. It was worth it!
This was a great experience! The speedboats were fast and fun. Riding in the open bay was great and the trip in the mangroves was super cool. But the highlight was the snorkeling! I’ve never swam in a school of fish before. Literally swimming right beside and below me. Very cool and I highly recommend!!
This tour was well worth the money. They do not provide transportation to and from your hotel as part of the package as advertised. So, call them and they will set up a round trip transport for you for $10. It's well worth it. Excellent boating and snorkeling fun...
Great little speed boat ride. Clear directions, easy driving. Fairly good snorkeling on a shallow reef. I think the description said 45 minutes, felt more like 30 but some of our party didn't know how to snorkel and that took some time. The only difficult thing was after snorkeling we got handed a bottle of water then about 10 seconds to arrange ourselves back to driving mode and then we were off again. Couldn't drink the water, or get your clothes back on, or fish anything out of your bag that you needed like your hat etc. Too fast. But maybe we were late because of the non snorkelers and had to rush? It was a good trip anyway. Would like to go back to that reef again.
We loved the speed boat and snorkeling. Water was clear blue and you can see way down to the bottom of ocean
Raul was an amazing tour guide. The interaction was the best and I felt right at home here in Cancun it’s a wild good time
ABSOLUTLY DO THIS!!!! Super fun. Not a long trip but really fun. The snorkeling was okay but I think that had more to do with the tides and I would not hold that against the boat company. We had some mechanical issues during the trip but the group leader (Jose) was able to fix them on the go and get us back up and running.
We booked directly online (not through a hotel rep) and took the city bus to get to and back from the centre. We were lucky to be in a small group (4 people in 2 boats) so the experience was more personalized/intimate. The speedboats are easy to ride and really fun (they go really fast!). The snorkelling tour is a bit short (about 30 minutes) but the Punta Nizuc reef is a safe place full of marine life. You must keep your lifejacket on at all times, even when snorkelling, which means you can't dive down (not sure if it's just for safety or if it is a marine park requirement). Pro tip: You'll get 2 bracelets: pink (worth about 12 USD) and brown (worth about 3 USD). Keep those as they can be reused if you want to do other similar activities in the area. We were not told this, threw them out, and had to pay 15 USD/person again two days later on another tour.
This tour was great! Definately worth the money! We had a great time speed boatig and snorkeling and our guide was very friendly!
This was such an amazing experience. Our tour guide's name was Rio and he was great help. I was a bit panicky but Rio was great help. 10/10 highly recommend!
The actual speed boating was good fun but we arrived on a day with slightly choppy weather. We were told on arrival that there was no snorkelling with no discount offered or option to rebook (for a snorkelling trip with no snorkelling). Instead we did a two hour tour of the lagoon with no breaks. All the additional costs were super expensive like 3 usd for a can of coke and 20 usd for the photo they printed out - it all felt like squeezing money from customers. Would be really good on a nice day!
They were excellent. Superb instructors and friendly people. Very professional. The boat ride was amazing and I enjoyed the snorkeling. I will definitely book with them again.
This was so much fun. We also weren’t able to make it to our first scheduled tour and they worked with us to change it. Would highly recommend!
Fun and exciting experience for our children’s first snorkeling adventure! This excursion was wonderful. Thanks! The Rowlands
This was great value- speed boat driving was fun and easy (except parking it) and the snorkeling had plenty of time. Shame the reef is quite destroyed, but still lots of fish to see. Would recommend
the tour was incredible, the reef is beautiful, an unforgettable adventure. 100% recommended I will return
Our boat was a piece of crap, the check engine light was on the entire time and the rest of the group ran off and left us because our boat couldn’t keep up even at top speed… when I told our tour guide Jose his comment was “yeah, yeah, ok” the speed boats were fun and I WOULD recommend the activity but USE A DIFFERENT COMPANY
This was a lot of fun. You’re driving on the water for about an hour, great views and then snorkeling for 30 minutes at the coral reef where I was able to spot a good amount of fish. I also love that it’s a short excursion and doesn’t take up your entire day. Would do it again. Just make sure you are comfortable driving on the water.
This was amazing experience, definitely recommending this to everyone, I was with friends and family
This was an amazing experience & well worth it!! The tour guides were fun & very helpful. Definitely recommending this to everyone, this was one of the best experiences I had in Mexico!!!
