This is our 4th time staying with Riu but the first time at this adults only resort. Check in was very easy, fast and got our room changed from a double bed to a king bed very fast as was no problem. Riu offers alot of different activities each day even while In the pool and night activities after pool hours. Riu offers you the option to go visit any Riu between 9am and 6pm. Unless you are going to Riu Caribe which has parties a couple times a week they have a shuttle to take you back and forth at all Riu hotels for that. We drove and had the breakfast at the Riu Palace Peninsula which we have previously stayed at. We recommend to rent a vehicle so there are no worries on taxi transportation to and from the airport. We used National car rental. My girlfriend and I weren't a fan of the buffet restaurant. We went to the Mexican Restaurant 3 times. The Birria tacos were amazing. The staff is constantly cleaning and if you call front desk they respond fast. Staff checks every day in the morning to see if you need anything restocked in your fridge. They also have Bacrdi, Jose Cuervo to serve yourself shots in the room! The ocean front beach gets cleaned everywhere day from the seaweed. The liquor is top shelf if asked for. The gym is small but does the job just recommend to go there before 7am it can get a bit crowded fast.

★★★★★ We had an amazing experience at Hotel Riu Palace Kukulkan from beginning to end. The resort has the perfect vibe, fun and lively when you want it to be, but also relaxed and chill when you just want to unwind and enjoy your vacation. The food was very good with plenty of options throughout our stay, but what really stood out was the service. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff was welcoming and professional. The servers, bartenders, room service, and staff throughout the entire resort were friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. You can tell they work hard to make sure their guests have a great experience. Our room was extremely impressive. It was beautiful, comfortable, clean, and absolutely impeccable. The entire property was well maintained, and we felt taken care of throughout our stay. Overall, Hotel Riu Palace Kukulkan gave us exactly what we were looking for in a Cancun vacation: great atmosphere, good food, excellent service, beautiful accommodations, and a fun but relaxing environment. Five stars from us. We truly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend this resort to anyone visiting Cancun! This is my opinion you have a different perspective but I truly loved it
This was my first time staying at Riu Palace Kukulkan and my fourth time in Cancun. My previous times I stayed a little further up the coast at Atelier and Excellence Playa Mujeres. Location is excellent. Very short drive to/from the airport, less than or right at 30 minutes. The beach was nice and the hotel did a great job of clearing the sargassum from the sand. I went to Coco Bongo and it was only a few minutes drive from the hotel. I also like that the website lets you pick your exact room. I was able to get the perfect ocean front view. Service was excellent. Everything was fast and streamlined. Check in and check out was very quick which I appreciated. My room did take a while to be ready but I did get there before check in time so it’s expected. My room was cleaned very well every day and one day they left rose petals on the tub for me which I loved. Now for the few nitpicks I have. I wish the room had some snacks to nibble on as I did get hungry sometimes but not hungry enough for room service or to go down to the buffet. I also wish there was more options for nighttime entertainment without having to take the shuttle to Riu Caribe. They should have a few parties onsite. I think it would also be nice if they offered some tequila tasting classes or mixers to get to know other hotel guests. As a solo traveler that would’ve been nice. The food was okay but I’ve had better resort food. A lot of the restaurants were closed on certain days of the week so I only was able to try 2 of them. I saw 2 roaches in my room during the stay which wasn’t the best experience but there’s not much I can do about it other than kill them and hope they don’t crawl on me at night or something 😧 I think my biggest pet peeve was the amount of vendors on the beach coming up to me every 2 minutes trying to sell me jewelry, bags, massages, hats, etc. I was just trying to relax on the beach and was constantly being bothered. That was the first day and from then on I ended up hanging out at the pool and just going out to the beach when I wanted to instead of staying on the beach all day. The other resorts I’ve stayed at did not have the vendors so I was not used to that. I understand they’re trying to make a living but it gets to a point where it’s excessive and irritating. The hotel should do something to keep them from bothering the guests. I wouldn’t mind staying here again but I think in the future I want to try something different just to get a taste of all the places that Cancun has to offer.
Fantastic vacation on a beautiful property. Staff was terrific and room was very very nice! Everything was clean and food was pretty good. Only gave 4 stars because its a smaller resort and there wasn't much to do. We did all the water activities, riufit classes, and took the shuttle to the other resort parties. Overall I would suggest if you want a nice low key vacation.
I stayed here for 4 days and it was a great experience! At check in we received a complimentary glass of champagne which was a great welcome. Both the rooms and entire property were very clean at all times and staff were very friendly. We were completely obsessed with the chips and guacamole at the snack bar next to the pools. There were many options at the buffet and most of them were very good! Some items weren’t always cooked well but that is expected at every buffet. We particularly enjoyed the spaghetti in bolognese sauce, beef stew, grilled chicken, brownie, and vanilla ice cream. The only thing we did not enjoy about the restaurant options was that only elite members could reserve a table at the restaurants which meant that whenever we attempted to eat at one of the restaurants there was an hour long wait. The buffet has great options but that was a bit disappointing. For drinks we really enjoyed the Caribbean orange and the strawberry daiquiri which both tasted like candy! We liked that there were multiple pools and they never felt crowded and there were always chairs available. The beach was very nice but we preferred the pools. There was a little bit of sargassum but not much. Hotel staff were continuously removing it from the beach and away from patrons. The pool water does get very warm from the sun so it is not always a good escape from the heat. In the rooms we enjoyed the double sink and spacious shower. The bed was very comfortable and the balcony had a great view of the ocean. It was very easy to connect the tv to our devices for streaming which was very helpful. I enjoyed the hotel’s commitment to sustainability which was evident in their feature that when the balcony door gets opened the ac turns off but it turns back on when it is closed to make sure it is not wasting energy. At night there were live music performances which were amazing and a great activity to do while sitting outside enjoying the night. We absolutely loved the spa, the couples promotion with a deep tissue massage and hydrating facial was truly life changing and I couldn’t recommend it more! The hotel has a small shop where you can find souvenirs, hats, clothing, snacks, sunscreen, medication, etc. As convenient as the store is, I would advise checking at the pharmacy across the street or airport or any other store before buying from here because the items were very very expensive. 2 sunscreens and a bottle of aloe was over $80 USD. Overall I really enjoyed our stay and I would recommend it to others!
