Whale Watching And Marine Science Tour

Even though we probably could have seen the same animals with any other whale watching group, I'm still very happy we chose Biosean. The small boat wasn't overcrowded like every other vessel that we saw and the staff with us was very friendly. During the tour we saw pilot whales as well as bottlenose dolphins from which we always held a respectable distance, while listening to their calls through the hydrophone. A pilot whale calf even approached us and swam within a few meters of the boat, before being pulled away from its mother. It was a truly magical experience and I would definitely recommend it for anybody who enjoys the sight of marine mammals.

This was a tour of the highest quality. Only 9 of us on the rib, expert knowledge of our skipper and scientific officer, and the most wonderful and respectful watching of whales and dolphins. It was a real privilege to see these amazing creatures in their natural habitat.

Great trip. Raoul was full of knowledge and we saw everything promised. Lasted just under 3 hours. Worth doing.

Excellent trip, very respectful to the animals. We saw short finned pilot whales. The boat never got too close to them. They decided themselves to swim past us which was fantastic.

Me and my girlfriend came away from the experience constantly talking about it over lunch, we loved such a close encounter with the pilot whales and didn’t expect the whales to actually approach near us! Misael and his two interns were so welcoming and informative- you can really see the passion Misael demonstrates and he really went the extra mile and was happy to answer any question and I just love what the whole task of this organisation is trying to achieve- even stopping the boat to collect harmful waste was a real moment and we felt like we were really part of something here. Excellent trip and lovely guides. Very informative with a small group of 10 that made the trip intimate. I would highly recommend this excursion. It felt nice to give money to a good cause rather than merely spend it on tourism.

Highly recommended whale watching tour. The boat is small and the experience is much better than in bigger boats. Respecting the nature is emphasized by the organizers. It may be difficult to find parking place in the town, make sure you have enough time for it.

We booked a whale watching trip and it was one of the greatest experience of my life . Our guide , Misa ,was really good at explaining the behaviour of whales and dolphins . The small group to have a more direct experience is a very good thing... We were lucky to have seen so many whales

It was the most amazing Whale Watching Tour I have ever done (did one in New Zealand too). You gain a lot of Marine Science knowledge on the tour. The Tour operator absolutely respects the Whales and Dolphins and makes sure, they are not bothered by our presence. In my opinion, this is the way how tours like this should be done. The tour is around 2,5h and you go in a small boat in groups of around ten people to watch out for Dolphins and Whales. Once animals are sighted, the engines are stopped and the boat just floats on the ocean, while you watch the Whales and Dolphins. The Tourguides, which are also Marine Scientists, explain what is going on in the sea and what the animals (whales and dolphins) are doing. They make sure to not go to near to the animals in order not to stress them. Furthermore, they let us listen to what kind of sounds are in the sea. And it is really noisy down there. It was a real pleasure to join this tour and I would do so again. Thank you for the good work and continue to do so! It was the highlight of my trip!

This year was my second trip with Biosean and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time! Best whale watching tour I did so far as one gets a lot of information about the animals and their behavior. They respect the animals and keep enough distance. Fortunately the animals decided to come closer & we even saw a pilot whale calf of about 3 weeks. Such a beautiful and sustainable trip! Hearing the ticks and whistles of the pilot whales with the help of the hydrophone was the absolute highlight! Thank you once again for an awesome and educational experience! One can see the love you have for the ocean and its inhabitants!

Biosean provided a great tour. The knowledge was fantastic and it was an interesting trip. Their love and passion for the animals and sea conservation was clear. We saw loads of pilot whales and some other interesting sea life including a Portuguese man of war. Thank you for looking after us for the morning - I am pregnant and they made the tour as comfortable as possible, offering the safest seat, toilets before we set off and refreshments. Definitely recommend for those conscious about animal safety and preservation.

The tour was absolutely amazing. We saw several groups of pilot wales and spotted dolphins. Misa and his crew gave us a lot of interesting information about the life of these sea mammels. With only 10 people max. the tour feels very personal. With quite a lot of wind during our way back Misa navigated us safely across the waves. I highly recommend the tour for everyone interested in scientific work of sea life.

Our guide was knowledgable and trustworthy. He was considerate and respectful of the pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins we observed in their habitat. It also helped it was a beautiful day.

We had a lovely time whale watching. My husband and I very much enjoyed it. My children had fun,with my 10 year old coping well, but perhaps a bit much sitting on a boat for the younger one (age 8). I'd definitely 100% recommend for adults and older kids (>12). With younger ones it's perhaps a wee bit too long (2 hours sitting on a boat). The highlight was seeing some turtles close up. Both my children loved that bit!! It's lovely that the staff really really care about the marine life and the ocean. Perhaps a bit serious for younger kids unless they are completely mad about marine life and seas.

Really great day out! Learnt so much and so grateful to have seen so much wildlife out on the ocean. The boat did get quite rocky so sea sickness pills are advised if you get sea sick easily.

It was such a fantastic journey. I found the company in the www and i booked a private Tour for our family. We were with 3 very attentive and obviously well trained biologists. What i enjoyed the Most, was the very respectful behaviour towards the animals And nature. I would Go again, and Time 🌊

Excellent trip Whale watching with Biosean. The crew give you a good briefing before leaving as to what to expect and also how they operate and what they do regarding research. Once at sea we were luckily enough to encounter a small pod of pilot whales. With the microphones in the water it was great to hear them all communicating with each other. We were then really lucky to have a "positive" interaction where two of the whales came right up to the boat to check us out😀😀 We were out for around two hours and had a brilliant time, without any chasing the whales around like some other trips do. Being able to hear the noise pollution caused by other boats was both a revelation and a real shame for these lovely animals. THANKS Biosean, we'd definitely recommend👍🏻👍🏻

We had a wonderful experience, the trip it was fun, we felt safe in the boat, we've seen dolphins, pilot whales and most magical moment it was when a baby pilot whale decided to approach us, no words to describe the feeling, and the sound of this baby whale it was just magical! I am so grateful for that day and hope will repeat it again with BIOSEAN when I will come back in Tenerife! Thank you BIOSEAN for the wonderful day we had!

Absolutely fantastic! The only proper way to watch dolphins and wales is to do it with professionals and that's exactly what this trip is. We loved it, our kids loved it. We booked the 2nd one and can't wait to it.

Thanks a lot to the biosean team for this beautiful activity. The driver was very professional and know exactly everything about the subject -whales and dolphins. He is working with young people in internship and give them the opportunity to observes the different population of animals in the ocean. We observed many whales and dolphins also a tortle. The drivers made the best he can to share ocean experience with us by sound and explanation. We also had fresh drinks on boat. I recommended it for sure.

A tour with Biosean is an amazing opportunity to complete your vacation in Tenerife with whale watching! During the tour you can spot whales, dolphins and also turtles and you can learn about them from a professional marine biologist. Biosean’s goal is to give the guests the best experience by showing them the marine animals, but also to do it with the smallest disturbance possible during the encounters. The approach to the animals is very slow and careful, first we keep a distance with the boat, where we can see them and the interactions between them, and then if the animals get curious they can come closer to us. This method is very delicate and really nice because we don’t cause stress to the animals this way. During the tour we can not only watch them but also hear them with the help of a hydrophone! It’s truly an amazing experience to listen to all the whistles and echolocation noises that the animals make! The crew is really nice, they are very welcoming! Mika has a huge knowledge about the animals and he tells a lot of interesting facts during the tour so you can have a better understanding on what you see. Overall, if you want to experience whale watching in a conscious way like this, I highly recommend this tour, believe me, it’s really rewarding!

I went diving and whale watching with Biosean and it was one of my best experience on the island ! Mika is very professional, can teach you a lot about cetaceans and marine life in general. I really enjoyed his respectful approach during the tour and this is definitely a must do in Tenerife ! Moreover he's a great guy so I highly recommend to go for a tour or dives with him ! We saw a lot of pilot whales with babies and we listenined to their singing through a special device. very beautiful. I learn a lot about the whales and their protection as well.

What a wonderful perfect day! If you wan to tune in with the whales, then book this tour as you really will be part observing and learning about how the animals interact. They even put a microphone in the water so we could here the whales communicate! That was so amazing and it is really heartwarming to see the internal drive these marine biologists have to protect, educate and preserve ocean life. This tour is for everyone who want to go below the surface of sensationalist tourism; this is eco tourism as it's best <3 The trip was wonderfully relaxing, we saw so many whales and 2 big turtles as well as protected seabirds (that we learned so much about and all the work that is behind their conservation!!!). The backdrop was mighty Teide and to finish this wonderful day off with, we had the most fantastic swim in really crystal clear blue water! Thank you for this amazing day!

I saw resident Whales and their babies, dolphins with our Expert and Biologist Misael, very well organised I learned a lot about Whales behavior, I had an explanation before like, where we are going to and why, so interesting. Amazing tour and day 🙂 for me, Misael is very Profesional, passionate, I got a lot of information regarding Whales, their behaviour how they communicate, a passionate Submarine World, you have to experiment it, not easy explaining with some words. Booked 2 tours, dolphins then snorkelling with 2 teenagers in tow. We all loved it, once in a lifetime chance to see dolphins and whales up close!

We had a truly incredible trip with Mika and his team! From the warm welcome to the enthusiastic explanations and the sightings of the cetaceans, the whole trip leaves lasting memories for the heart. You can really tell that Mika has his whole heart in the project and his team as well. Everyone was excited seeing the pilot whales, the dolphins and the sea turtle. Let‘s all help in protecting the precious biodiversity in this area!

As residents of the island, We have seen a lot of different whale watching boats that just use the radio to tell each other where the whales are and just circle them. Biosean had a complete different approach. We got briefed about the different species of whales, dolphins and turtles we could encounter on the tour in the harbour as well as the background story of Biosean and how they record all their sightings on a spreadsheet and keep track of everything. About 30 mins on the tour a pod of resting pilot whales got spotted, once we got close and coming in from the correct angle not to block the whale's path we turned the engine off and admired them from very close. We got an extra treat as we had a pod of young juvenile "spotted dolphins" playing in front of the boat for about a good 15 mins. The whole experience was amazing and would definitely recommend anyone that wants to get close with these amazing creatures without stressing them. It was just a pity that the hydrophone wasn't working (we really were looking forward to that) as they had just changed the aux cable (otherwise it would have been a 5 star review) Thank you so much for this animal friendly and peaceful trip. We spent a lovely 2.5 hours out on the boat whale and dolphin watching. We saw five pilot whales out at sea, then a handful of dolphins round by a fish farm. Our seven year old enjoyed the trip (especially the bumpy trip back to the marina in the RIB) and even though it’s not a full-on in-your-face trip, he enjoyed it and didn’t get bored (which is a pretty big achievement!) The photo I’ve attached was taken on a phone which hopefully shows how close we were to the whales. Thoroughly recommended

If you want to see whale pods, dolphins and other marine life then look no further than joining Mika and his volunteers on one of their rib boat trips out! This 2-3 hour trip was wonderful and having the expertise of marine biologists observing their pods of whales was so interesting and far better than joining a tourist orientated trip in the area. Mika knows these creatures intimately and it was wonderful to watch him collect his data for marine conservation. He is so knowledgeable and answered all our questions, his passion for conservation is so wonderful! Thank you for allowing us to join you last week, even if the seas were a little rough that day! A memory i will always have is seeing the calf pilot whale playing and slapping it's tail!!! Awesome!

We selected this company because it is run by biologists and the tours provide scientific information as well as entertainment for people on board. We were very lucky as we got a private tour, because that morning a family of 6 had cancelled. The two guys on board were very knowledgeable - not just about the local cetacean population but also the general marine ecosystem of the Canaries and they are very careful and responsible in approaching and manoeuvering around the pilot whales. They also checked out a juvenile loggerhead to ascertain it had no fishing line around its neck - something that occurs unfortunately quite often. Luckily this one was fine. Great day out. Will try to upload some photos for identification purposes.

I had a great experience with Misael of Biosean Marine Science Tour. we saw Pilot whales and dolphins, before the storm broke. Misael was very calm and confident and guided our group which included a little baby, through torrential rain and high winds. congratulations Misael, for an excellent tour, high adventure. I got MORE than my money's worth!

Had such an amazing time on this trip, Misael was really friendly and informative, knowing exactly where the whales would be and the safest way to get close to them! The boat was clean and intimate, allowing us to have perfect view of all the species we saw! Also helping to conserve the ocean by picking up trash and recording what was found! Amazing company, I recommend them to anyone who wants to see wild whales while ensuring the captain is using safe practices and respecting these beautiful creatures!!!

Friday I went on one of your tours. Before going I felt a little apprehensive about the intimate nature of being on such a small vessel, however I was determined to see whales in the most scientific (and environmentally friendly way) i could find. Your company provided this and more. Your staff were wonderfull and knowledgeable, using the rib boat really gave a sense everything being more personal and getting closer to nature and the hydro phone really was one of the most incredible experiences. Hearing the animals communicate around us like that was just awe inspiring. In a couple of weeks I am going back to university to study MSc Wildlife Conservation, your trip reminded me of why this course is so important to me and why someday I would like to be able to protect, conserve and teach about incredable ecosystems as you do. Cetaceans have always held a special place in my heart, this was the first chance I have had too see them up close and you truly made it special. It's an experience I will remember for the rest of my life and I can't thank you enough for that.

A pod of pilot whales, spotted Atlantic dolphins racing with and leaping right in front of the boat, even rescuing an ailing loggerhead turtle that had been infected with a parasite -- all this in one 2-hour adventure! We could not have asked for more.

Incredible experience! Not only do you have the privilege of seeing the (happy) animals in their natural habitat, but also of hearing explanations and information directly from a marine biologist (Raul is fantastic!). Truly highly recommended, I didn't want to leave anymore.

Exciting experience, I didn't imagine so much. Thanks to Raul, a marine biologist, we have learned so many aspects of the life of pilot whales. Going with a small rubber boat with only ten places allowed us to see them and almost touch them. Few times such an educational and rewarding activity. Highly recommended right with them
