It was a really interesting guided tour through the volcanic landscape. Our guide Racquel was incredibly informative and engaging, explaining all about the volcanic history and the flora and fauna of the area in both French and English to a small group. The meet-up location could have been made a bit more obvious. We found the details but the initial link took us to a nearby village instead.

Really nice hike to Volcán Santa Catalina in Timanfaya National Park. You meet the guide on the nearby road and then follow a trail of about 7 km through the volcanic landscape. The hike is suitable for any reasonably fit adult. There is one somewhat steep section near the volcano's crater, but overall it is not particularly demanding. Hiking boots are necessary. I really enjoyed the landscape, but what I appreciated most were the guide's explanations. In principle, you could do the hike on your own, but you would miss the fascinating geological story behind Timanfaya. The information and insights provided by the guide are definitely worth the money. I would highly recommend doing this experience at the beginning of your stay in Lanzarote. It is a great way to start getting to know the island and, in particular, its extraordinary volcanic landscape.
Rachel was a fantastic guide!!! The tour was more than expected walking the volcanos and learning all the history was breathtaking and enlightening. Rachel went above and beyond not just for me but all her guests. The hike is slightly challenging but with the right guide very doable. Don’t miss out on this experience. If you need walking sticks make sure you add it when booking they can provide.
Tour guide very informative, knowledgable and attentive. English and French was perfect and was able to switch between both. Very interesting to hear about volcanos and Lanzarote history.
This was a very accessible and fascinating hike. The group was very small and the guide could speak in many languages. Felt very personal and fascinating and fun. The guide was very knowledgeable and informative and the route gave you that remote feeling. There were snacks included. Staff was very communicative and flexible with meeting people and making sure you got to and from the point so don’t be afraid to reach out. They also organize many other tours which i unfortunately did not have time to do but i will return!
This is an absolute must-do in Lanzarote if you’re interested in volcanoes and the local nature and are up for a relatively easy hike. Our guide Raquel picked us up promptly and was great at pointing out various sights on the way. She also answered my million questions about the island and gave recommendations. There were also some nice snacks, including delicious volcanic soil-grown bananas. We took this tour on our first full day on Lanzarote and I can’t imagine a better introduction. We would definitely take a tour with this company again.
Excellent trip with a very knowledgeable and passionate guide. Raquel was brilliant and I appreciated her experience and guidance. I have learnt so much and appreciate Lanzarote even more.
Raquel was an excellent, informative guide who displayed her love of Lanzarote and the Parque Natural de Los Volcanes
Great guided tour, very educational. The walk is 7km, not much elevation and at a good pace without rushing. P/u was perfect, ample parking to leave your car. All in all, 3.5 hrs. This is a must, felt like we were on Mars. Good value for your $$&
This is a must-do tour when you are in Lanzarote. There really is nothing like the volcanic landscape- truly other-worldly. Hiking up a volcano and getting to see down into the crater was quite an experience. The hike itself was pretty straightforward- about 10 km. Wear decent shoes and sunscreen. Helps to bring a small pack to carry waters and such. Our guide, Raquel, was excellent - knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and friendly. This really is one of the best tours I've taken.
Great experience to have on my birthday. Raquel was excellent we learnt so much And it was a small group and an easy walk Wear something warm . Take sun cream a hat
A wonderful walk with a guide who really inspired us with her knowledge and passion. The volcanic landscape and the associated wildlife was facinating.
An ‘out of this world’ experience! We had a wonderful morning in the company of our very knowledgeable guide, Raquel. A very enjoyable and informative hike through the lava fields and up to the top of a volcano where we were able to look into the caldera. We learned so much about the volcanoes and volcanic history of Lanzarote. Superb! Muchas gracias Raquel.
Very well done and informative. Rachel did a great job. I world highly recommend. Interesting topography.
Raquel was so engaging, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Good value for money and we learnt so much! The walk itself is about 3 hours long and not too hilly so you see a lot without getting tired.
We really enjoyed the excursion, from the minute Raquel picked us up she was really friendly & informative! I really liked that it was a small group. It didn’t take long to get to the area & Raquel had spare jackets & coats & also snacks & water for us! The hike took us about 3hrs but it didn’t feel that long & it was extremely enjoyable! I cannot express how good it was & that was all down to how interesting & knowledgable Raquel is! We seen things & had elements explained to us that you just wouldn’t get if you did it just as a hike with no guide. I would definitely recommend this excursion but would highly recommend you wrap up as it does get pretty chilly with the winds!
Friendly and v knowledge guide. Thoroughly enjoyed. Advise trainers/ hiking boots + suncream. Wind seems cold but you will burn!!
I booked this for myself and my 13 year old, we had a great time. The trip was well planned, 3 hours walk was a good amount of time, nothing too strenuous. The tour guide, Raquel's knowledge of the island and the area, the volcanos and history was incredible. Any questions we had were answered and everything explained fluently in multiple languages to suit the group Would highly recommend
Spectacular scenery. Fascinating guide & walk. Highly recommended. Raquel is so knowledgeable & a really enthusiastic guide
A good and quite easy walkwith an excellent guide, full of interesting information (in several languages). Recommended .
Slow and steady climb. Not difficult or strenuous. Good shoes a necessity. Great guide gives frequent stops to give fascinating nformation and where everyone can get a breather.
The visit Was very interesting. The guide was well prepared and very passionate. I write more because requested by the form but i don't have anything else to say. Maybe you should ve more flexible about the review form. This has made the experience a little bit worse
Our third or fourth trek with Blackstone over a number of years. They are simply the best. Raquel's enthusiasm, knowledge, expertise and passion for Lanzarote are infectious and make every walk memorable. The walk itself was perfect and had clearly been thought through. It was just the right length and Raquel shared so many interesting history and eco facts along the way. Next time we are in Lanzarote, we will be sure to book on a trek again.
Guide very friendly and very knowledgeable and explained everything well water fruit snacks provided
Great explanations of the volcanic activity. Nicely paced walk. Excellent guide with water provided. Fabulous views.
Brilliant walk through the volcanic centre of Lanzarote. The communications from the company were excellent. Our fantastic tour rep was Rachael who was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and talked us through the history of the islands volcanic eruptions. Pleasant walk nothing strenuous .
Nice small group and easy pace. The guides were lovely and very informative, would absolutely recommend!
The guide Raquel was wonderful and we learnt a lot and had a really enjoyable experience. She shared her vast knowledge of the island with us and answered lots of questions.
Great tour! Pick-up in time, knowledgable guides, beautiful scenery. Worth all the money! Thank you Jose and Raquel!
Great guide Raquel. We’ve learnt a lot and the energy was fun. Could tell she cared about her job. They also even gave us snacks and water at the beginning.
Tour is great and Jose is an amazing guide, he's very experienced and hss really interesting stories. You will love the volcanos and have lots of fun
A lovely, relaxed and informative walk through a fascinating landscape. The guide Jose, was warm and friendly, and his enthusiasm and knowledge of Lanzarote and the volcanos was inspiring! Many thanks for a great walk and talk.
Well organised guided tour. Jose was a well informed expert who looked after the groups needs well. Pick up on time at peurto del carmen, and he had a genuine interest in sharing so much about the islands history.
Having been to Lanzarote many times and been impressed with the wonderful volcanic scenery this was the first time we’d actually walked through the landscape . Our guide Raquel was marvellous, she collected us at the exact time she promised and proved to be a charming and engaging guide. We leant so much about the history and formation of the island and the creation of this amazing landscape and the flora and fauna that live in it. The scenery is stunning and the look inside a volcano is spectacular. A great trip and wonderful walk through this humbling landscape.
A truly memorable walk through the lava fields & volcanoes of Lanzarote. Scenery was amazing. Our guide was very informative & enthusiastic. Would definitely recommend this.
Very nice walk in Lanzarote! The guide's expertise made the experience unforgettable. Clear explanations enhanced my understanding of volcano geology. Thanks Josè!
The guys were first class, informative and entertaining. They kept us at a good pace and made sure that the group was always watered and safe. We encountered a couple who were out on their own and lost and the genuine concern for their safety was an example of the kindness for all out on the volcano’s not just our group.
Really pleasant that a day before the tour you get a more specific time for pick up, which minimalizes waiting. The driver who took me to the starting point turned out to be the guide for the French-speaking, so I met my Englisch speaking guide, José, just at the meeting point. He turned out to have a good sense of humour and talked (or should I say 'teached' us) a lot about Lanzarote and volcanism in general. His love for the island was palpable and his sadness for seeing trails where they shouldn't be was almost aching. He also took the time during the actual walking to have a talk with whoever wanted to. This way I learned over his new adventure and he shared some personal thoughts. These are the kind of really inspiring people who it is worth traveling for. For me the walk could have been longer, although it was already a bit longer than usual and now took about 3,5 hours. The area is just stunning! Add to that a good guide and you regret it when the tour is over. Muchas gracias José!
Raquel was really pleasant and the whole tour was educational. Interesting to see the history behind these volcanoes
Brilliant little tour. Jose the tour guide was superb, very funny , nice , full of information.. Made our day. Thanks Jose.
Jose, our guide, was utterly fantastic. He was highly knowledgeable, kind and inclusive. He made the walking tour come to life with his intricate knowledge of the flora, fauna and geology of the area - the best way to see Lanzarote is with a guide who completely loves their job. This was a fantastic experience and would thoroughly recommend!
We really enjoyed our walking tour this week with Raquel. Her English was excellent and she was enthusiastic and informative - not just about the volcanoes and eruptions but also about the local fauna and flora. One of us is a retired teacher and really liked her use of visual aids to help us understand different types of volcanoes. We were staying in Playa Blanca so arranged to meet the group at Mancha Blanca which was fine.
Raquel is an expert and a very nice tour guide, she can fluently speak three languages Spanish, English and French! The tour itself is impressive… it feels like landing on the moon! I definitely recommend this experience!
It was a fantastic tour, which we all thoroughly enjoyed, including the teens! Highly recommended! Jose brought the landscape to life with so much information on the volcanoes, their formation, and the many plants and animals. Thanks Jose.
Really well thought out walk in amazing countryside with knowledgeable guide. Learned a lot about the creation of Lanzarote and neighbouring islands.
Very nice guide with excellent explanations on Lanzarote… José is very helpfull and full of interesting stories
Great small group walking tour getting up close to volcanoes and the volcanic landscape Life exist still on a volcanic landscape over time Such a contrast walking on and by former lava flows seeing the different types of lava too! Only seen this landscape in Iceland just without the warmth but similar definitely recommend
Lovely and knowledgable guide. Collected and dropped off at the end of our road to our Villa, so convenient. Water and snacks were much appreciated. Beautiful landscapes and I loved learning about Lanzarote and the volcanoes.
This trip is a must if you are looking for a fun, almost personalised hike around the newer volcanoes in Lanzarote. Jose is very informative and his passion for volcanoes is contagious. I went with my 14 yr old daughter and we both found the hike to be moderate for walking in a volcanic area. I will definitely go with Blackstone again for any Lanzarote tours and hope to do this hike again in future (so much to take in on one trip). Photos don't do justice to the size of the scenery.
An excellent trek round the volcanoes with Jose, who was really friendly and informative. Remember to wear your trainers (my mother in law didn't realise, but Jose had a spare pair for her) as lots of gravel/loose stones underfoot. We also had our 14 year old in tow, and she didn't moan, although I had briefed her plenty in advance that we'd be out for 3 hours min. 😉 Jose's company provides several excursions (not just the volcanoes) and I'd book directly with them next time.
