Tenerife: Los Cristianos Small-group Scuba Diving Experience

We were thankful they managed to fit us in at the last minute and even put on an additional dive. Pre communication was excellent. Just the two of us set off with Sergio. We were both briefed well. Equipment gave us confidence. The dive was part of their taster dive experience. It was fantastic and we saw marine life in ther natural environment. Seeing a Seahorse, Cuttlefish and Moray Eel plus many more species up close was an amazing experience. I never thought I’d be able to dive past 50, but it was made possible by the kind, professional, and experienced team at this company. I highly recommend you try the taster session. We dived to 11.3 metres, which was I class as an achievement. Thank you team!

Back for another year, and my sister and I did two fantastic dives with Sergio. We did Las Eras & Abedes. Visibility was amazing and saw lots. Barbarian divers is very friendly and safe, definitely recommend them. Another fabulous experience this year! Thanks Sergio.

An amazing experience that turned my vacation from a monotonous one into a vibrant and adventurous journey! My instructor, Kathleen Knecht, is an exceptional and caring instructor who gave me all the support and energy I needed to learn everything about the Open Water Diver course. She adapted the locations and beaches to suit different diving conditions. I don't regret a single second choosing this dive center and I am seriously thinking about coming back to continue with the next level of specialization. Thank you, Kathleen!

If I could’ve 10 stars I would. I personally was an absolute pain in the backside with kath but yet she made us feel like it was fine all along. I had to cancel my initial slot due to myself being a little bit ill, I then had to rearrange the second slot Kath gave us as it clashed with another excursion, but Kath just made it seem so fine and perfect. We got there and I was nervous and she and he colleague reassured me and showed me all the ways to sort myself out when under the water in all the different circumstances that could happen. Not to add as well I ruptured my ACL a week before I came and once again Kath was so much help with making sure I was comfortable with the gear. Again in the water Kath and her colleague was super helpful and was constantly making sure we were okay and being so reassuring. When I come back without a doubt I’ll come back and cannot rate these guys anymore higher. Like I said at the start if I could’ve rate these guys 10 stars I for sure would.

I completed my OWD, AOWD, and Nitrox certifications with Barbarian Diving Tenerife and genuinely can’t recommend them enough. Sergio and Kathleen are super friendly, knowledgeable, and make you feel comfortable from the very start. The dive centre is perfectly located in the centre of Los Cristianos, with many different dive sites either nearby or just a short drive away. All the equipment is in pristine condition, and there is a strong focus on safety, comfort, and an overall great diving experience. This was the best way I could have started into the diving hobby. My friend asked me, if I wanted to do a Try-Dive during our vacation. I ended up doing the scuba dive certificate with Kathi in two dives, with plans to expand that to the open water diver certification. I am hooked! I had no prior experience with SCUBA diving and a healthy amount of nervousness going into the course. Sergio and especially Kathi were amazing and helped me get so confident with the technical side and safety of diving. Getting to know the equipment, the procedures during decent and ascension, effects of pressure, buoyancy and dive-timing. I felt thoroughly informed and 100% safe during the dives. Thanks to the great one-on-one training, I did not feel clueless underwater and it really got intuitive fast. The dives themselves were such a dreamy experience. Kathi and Jakub (training dive master) took me to a depth of 10 meters and showed me the marine life of Tenerife. Many different kind of fish, an octopus, squids, crabs and so much more. They were always next to me, showing me special animals, checking on my well-being and doing safety exercises with me. Both dives were about 50 min long, with a break in between to change equipment, ask questions, eat some snacks and get some tips. My friend was doing a deeper dive to 30 m from a boat and saw different rays and swarms of barracuda. It was magical! After the dive they helped me set up my SSI account, we talked again over the theory and I got extensive training material to do the certification theory in my own time. Kathi and Sergio at Barbarian Diving made this vacation into something really special for me. They are so easy going and professional. You really can feel they want to give you the best experience possible, as they are passionate about diving and the ocean! A clear recommendation from me, I could not have asked for a better experience!

Second time in Tenerife and second time spending all possible diving days with Barbarian Diving! Had amazing dives with both Kathy and Sergio. We are unexperienced divers, logged 28 dives now and 20 of them with Barbarian Diving, and we learned a lot of them! After diving with Barbarian Diving we became a lot more confident and had a lot of fun! They know where it's the highest possible change of spotting sea life such as angel sharks, sea turtles, rays and big schools of fish. Went boat diving, night diving and did a lot of shore dives. I recommend Barbarian Diving if you’re looking for dives that fit your needs. They really respect your limits and comfort level.

Katie and Sergio provide a personalised scuba diving experience that’s second to no other. This is the second time I dive with them but the first time with their brilliant Barbarian dive company. I keep coming back as they are highly skilled, professional and really make you feel safe and at ease. i’ve really enjoyed my time and promise to keep coming back for more :-)

I had an outstanding experience with Barbarian Diving and I want to give a special shoutout to Kathi and Antonio, who made my Open Water Diver course unforgettable from the very first moment. My trip to Tenerife was a spontaneous decision and Antonio supported me right away by helping me choose the right course and connecting me with the dive school and with Kathi. From day one, both of them made me feel welcome, safe and excited to start this adventure. The course started on Thursday with theory and basic safety exercises in the water. Even during these first steps I felt completely safe thanks to their calm and clear way of teaching. On Friday we did two dives to twelve meters and on Saturday we reached eighteen meters. Their guidance was excellent and the atmosphere underwater was relaxed and full of joy. They were always focused on safety without ever taking away the fun. On Sunday we added two fun dives down to thirty meters. I even received my certification for this depth on the same day. We explored several spots around the island, including Tabaybar and Abades, and I saw more sea life than I had ever imagined. From sharks to a friendly octopus that gave me a literal handshake, it was a dream. Kathi teaches in German which helped me understand every detail perfectly. Antonio explained everything in excellent English and shared so much knowledge about the ocean, the equipment and the dive sites that I learned far more than I expected from a beginner course. Both of them are passionate professionals who care deeply about safety and about giving every student a great experience. I always felt supported, seen and guided in the best possible way. If you are thinking about doing your first dive or continuing your diving education, book with Barbarian Diving and ask for Kathi and Antonio. I can recommend them with full confidence. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, the safety briefing was well delivered in English and easy to understand. My partner hadn't dived before and was very nervous but Katy and Sergio were great and made the whole experience really relaxed and enjoyable, especially Considering the tricky conditions on the day, Sergio still made sure we saw as much as possible with limited visibility, would highly recommend for any first time divers that are nervous about diving, I'll be returning at a later date to do my open water with Barbarian.

It is our second time diving with Barbarian and once again the experience was fantastic! (and we sincerely hope to visit Tenerife just for diving next year as well) We visited beautiful sites at great times resulting in lovely and memorable dives! Me and my girlfriend are certified, but we had our friends do a try-scuba experience and they were thrilled. The equipment is in a good condition, the explanation and instructions are clear, fun and throughout and the instructors are really fun people with a passion for their work. And as a bonus we received fantastic camera footage from our dives!

Amazing first dive with Sergio. Made us feel very at ease, we had never dived before. Explained everything we needed to know, good and bad. Fitted all our equipment, and explained how it all worked, what signals to use underwater. The dive itself, initially seemed hard work, but got easier as we progressed. Saw an amazing aray of fish, and 2 HUGE rays. All the time Sergio was spotting fish, pointing them out and ensuring everything was ok. Was an amazing first dive experience, would thoroughly recommend, and we will DEFINITELY be back.

Me and my Partner went scuba diving with Barbarian Diving on Wednesday 19th February, 2025. I had Scuba Dived before but my partner was completely new to the experience and our tour guide was incredibly accommodating and an amazing coach guiding him through what to do and refreshing me on some skills I had forgotten (as it had been 5+ years since my last dive). Visibility was not the best however this is no fault of barbarian diving and they helped us make the most of what was visible as well as taking some amazing pictures to help us remember the adventure. As I say despite 50/50 visibility we still saw a school of fish and a puffer fish as well as a few different species of fish as well. All in all it was an amazing trip and I will definitely book another excursion with barbarian diving when I next visit Tenerife and my partner is still interested in doing an open water course 😄

Brilliant experience! Kathi was so lovely, very passionate and knowledgeable. We hadn't dived before so we were a little nervous, but Kathi made us feel really calm and prepared. We were introduced to the equipment and then practised the techniques in shallow water before descending into the deeper water when we were ready. We saw lots of beautiful fish, had great visibility and being under the water felt relaxing and peaceful. We highly recommend this experience!

We had a great time. Kathi was very friendly and patient with us (it was our first time). Thanks to her we didn t panic. We saw so many species of fish and the time went by so fast. If we would come to Tenerife again, we would choose this activity with Barbarian Diving again!

Absolutely amazing! It was our first time diving and Kathi was so friendly and took great care of us. She definitely made the experience even better!! My daughter and I went diving with Barbarian today. What an incredible morning! It was only her second ever dive but we were in very safe hands. The dive was a walk-in from the shore. We saw an incredible amount of fish, spider crabs, fireworms and a cheeky ray that was hiding in the rocks! We didn’t want to get out. We will definitely book with Barbarian again.

It was our first experience underwater and at our age we wanted it to be at a center that cares about giving a personalized touch to the activity, I personally need help when it comes to carrying weight and they helped me at all times, the dive was incredible, a number of beautiful animals that we were able to enjoy and always respecting the environment. After my experience at Barbarian Diving, I can't help but write a rave review. From start to finish the service was excellent. The material? Brand new. No worn out gear or questionable equipment - everything in top condition. What really sets Barbarian Diving apart is that they deliberately work with small groups. No mass diving where you are treated as a number, but personal attention from the instructor. You have space, you feel safe, and you actually learn something. I must admit: my planning was quite chaotic. Rescheduling appointments, last-minute changes... they could have easily fobbed me off. Instead, they went to all the trouble in the world to help me and keep everything running smoothly. Now that's customer focus. The prices are also very reasonable for what you get. And as the icing on the cake, they film your dive underwater - beautiful images that you get home as a keepsake. Professional, flexible, and passionate about the sport. Barbarian Diving deserves every star.

It was fantastic. I felt absolutely safe and in good hands. We have seen rays, octopus and many fish. The equipment was as good as new and the diving suit was nice and thick, so you didn't freeze.
