A very disappointing experience with this excursion. We were seated at the very back of the jeep, where the roof made it almost impossible to see anything. There was also very little space in the back, and we kept hitting our heads on the roof, so we had to sit hunched over. It was very uncomfortable. Before the trip to Teide, they opened the roof for a while. However, at the stop where we had lunch, they closed it again. That was when I started complaining, because the most interesting and beautiful part of the trip was still ahead, and with the roof closed, we could hardly see anything. After I complained, they opened the roof slightly again, and the situation became a little better. We paid for this excursion to see the island and enjoy the views, but instead, we spent a significant part of the trip sitting hunched over and barely being able to see anything. For this price, we expected much better conditions for every passenger. Very poor organization. I do not recommend this excursion.

Excellent trip.and well.worth the money. Our driver was informative and explained the history of the island clearly. Rhe scenery was fanartastic and there were plenty of opportunities to take photos. The stop for the meal was great and the food was excellent, typical.canary island cuisine. The trip to masca was interesting and the scenery outstanding however for those who don't like heights be aware that the road to.and from masca is full.of switchbacks with very steep.drops either side. Not for the faint hearted
Great day out with an excellent driver and a very informative tour guide . Stunning scenery and a chance to see parts of the island you probably wouldn’t have .
Oh wow, what a fun day, It is an early pick up then your taken to a car park where all these jeeps just keep coming before splitting into groups of your spoken language. Our guide was lovely we were then directed to our Jeep and we had Carlo (Gru) and he was FANTASTIC. Love how he said he speaks 'some' English but we had a full blown natter the entire time, We all all learnt so much about Tenerife, It felt like a geography school trip. Truly fascinating day out we had, The stops were plentiful the views were insane and I'm so glad we went exploring and saw so much more than you'd ever see. The roof folds back on the roof and the breeze is lovely! We called our driver Gru because he sounded just like him and he went along with it. Our jeep was always laughing, we went as a family of 3 and Gru got on great with our daughter they were teasing and playing around. We had some Dutch adults in our jeep too and honestly we just had a blast. I cant believe in just a short drive from 40c heat we went through a forest and the temp drops and it was stunning then onto lava fields. Honestly best excursion we could of done. Thank you Gru!
Amazing. Took us to places, helped us explore tenerife, not only that, we made some new friends! Tell the guy from dundee (i forgot his name!) that he was amazing
Our guide was excellent his knowledge was amazing, was able to answer any questions we had. And we got to see some amazing scenes.
Fantastic trip enjoyed by the whole family! Frankie was brilliant! He was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information! He has a great sense of humor and made us all laugh! He was brilliant with children and would cheer them up and make sure they are engaged and having fun!
Despite my anxiety and not being at ease on hights, I am proud that I made this amazing trip. The driver Jimmy was so nice and patient, and managed to keep me breathing :)
The easiest 5 stars I've ever given. Miguel our guide was an absolute gentleman. The knowledge and jokes he shared where incredible. A big shout to Colin also. I can't recommend this enough. The views are something out of this world. The stops were all amazing. I can honestly say it took my breath away. Just go do it!
The Dutch guide’s knowledge and English language skills were limited. The English pronunciation was strongly Dutch-accented. The atmosphere in the car was quiet.
Answer ‘ when it’s a 4WD minibus! First a disclaimer..this review is no reflection on the guides themselves who are both knowledgeable and helpful, and did what they could to assist us. We were even given a lift back to our hotel which they didn’t need to do Anyway back to the review we arrived as instructed at the prearranged meeting point and slowly a number of jeeps and a couple of VW transporters with overhead exhausts arrived. We assumed that the VW’s were another excursion. 50 mins after we were told to arrive we were led to our…you guessed it…led to our VW, not one of the Jeeps! We along with the other 2 groups assigned to our party, asked where our Jeep was for the Jeep excursion. We were assured it was 4WD, but we all pointed out the excursion specifically referred to jeeps. Arrangements were made for us to be taken to the office to see a Toyota Landcruiser they had. This was an older vehicle ( the others were new).we were told we could be taken in either vehicle or be reimbursed and call it a day. We all chose to go in the VW although we were clear that we weren’t happy. Anyway the views were fantastic and we were so glad we went…but equally glad we hadn’t chosen to hire a car ourselves and drove…the scenery was amazing, the guides interesting and knowledgeable. Our only real issue (other than the lack of Jeep was that we spent such a large part of the day in a vehicle, but having said that I’m not sure that there are any real alternatives given you need to get there somehow.
I bought a Jeep Safari to the volcano. This suggested to me that we would go in a jeep offraoding to the volcano. The vehicle was a very smart four wheel drive, completely computerised with a removable roof. This looked promising. The driver, Colin, was excellent. We set off along the wide road out of the town. The roads got more countryfied. As we approached the volcano visitor centre Colin said we would stop for a comfort break. There was the volcano two kilometers away. Off roading shortly? Not a bit of it, we left the visitor centre returning along the road. On we went to Masca. Narrow twisty road, hope rose again, but NO! we stopped there for a while, turned round and went back to the hotel. The only offroading we did was when the car park was full we parked on the verge beside the road. Jeep safari is a misnomer. It should be described as a taxi tour to the visitor centre. That way it could not be considered to be a rip off.
Picked this as a random day out, we afterwards decided we probably only needed to do the half day and not the full day as this only consisted of a restaurant visit (not included) and the drive to masca and back to the hotel. The trip overall was a really good, informative day out but I do believe it was partly mis-sold as you could have a picnic by camels if you didn’t want to eat in the restaurant. We took a picnic and saw a couple of camels once walking round and would not have had time to do the park / ride if we’d wanted. I digress however because the trip overall was very pleasant, different being in a jeep with a really great guide known as Jimmy! He had some good stories of the areas and about himself.
Had an amazing experience with Tamaran doing the Jeep Safari of Teide and Masca. It was an incredible experience and the service was by far one of the best we’ve received on a trip. Our guide was absolutely lovely, informative and always made sure to cater what people needed. If we had more time we’d have definitely done La Gomera also! Would definitely return to and recommend this company!
Very very disappointed. We were sat in a car with a french tour guide and two french tourists .The guide talked for 6 hours to the french in the front and we were not acknowledged the whole day except to be let in and out of the car .As regular visitors of Tenerife we wanted this tour to learn more about other parts of the island .We were sat in silence in the back all day while the guide chatted to the people in the front .There was no guided tour for us .we might as well be sat in the back of a taxi. we didn't know where we were or what was coming next what time we had to be back of stop breaks .The guide was probably amazing for the 2 french in the front but there was 4 other people in the car .We couldn't wait to get back .We learnt nothing at all .Very disappointed ☹️
Extraordinary, Fantastic.Profesional guides , beautiful scenery. We leard a lot about the island. Special thanks to our driver Cristiano. It was an adrenaline rush !
The views were amazing, it was very informative and miguel was an absolute star!! The whole trip was organised very well.🌟 🤩
We went with miguel i think very good really good views really good driver would go again with miguel really good tour guide one thing is food can be got in a cafe should be listed
We had a great trip, we had an excellent driver who was full of funny quips and knew his stuff on the history of the island and the places we visited. The views were amazing and we took loads of photos. We had plenty of comfort stops!
We were a family group of 8 on the full day tour and had a thoroughly enjoyable day in the safe hands of Miguel, our driver. The jeeps travel in convoy on the trip and stops off at various points to admire the views and to give us information about the area and landscape. The highlight for us was the village of Masca, tucked away in a valley with only one very windy and hilly road that passes through it. A must do to see the real Tenerife outside of your resort.
Thanks to the wonderful Terry who made our trip better due to his kindness, skilled driving and knowledge of the island. We had an excellent trip and felt very safe in Terry‘s hands. The views were excellent but the journey not for the feint hearted with twists and climbs galore. We didn’t need jackets or jumpers during our trip but we had packed them. Be prepared to pay up to 1 Euro to use the toilets at the scheduled stops. Great experience for our 1st trip to Tenerife. The drop off at our hotel at the end was a nice surprise. Thanks Terry! Tamaran and Kim who we booked through at the whale and dolphins adventure in Los Cristianos.
I really enjoyed the Jeep Safari trip along Tenerife South Coast, visiting the Teide Vulcano. I saw some of the most beautiful natural and uncontaminated landscapes. ✌️ 😎
We were appreciative to have a guide who drove safely during this tour. I do not recommend driving them yourself. However we were placed in a vehicle with French people and our guide spoke exclusively French all day. We signed up for a tour in English. There was an English speaking guide in another vehicle. Not ideal and seemed like poor planning by the tour company.
This was our second tour with Tamaran and we have a third pending. This company is a pleasure to deal with and the experiences they provide are top notch ! Our La Gomera Jeep tour was lead by Frankie, who was professional, fun and personable. We would go on any tour led by him ! With his hilarious anecdotes and superb driving skills, he creates lasting memories ! We drive with Maria for most of our Teide tour, and she was lovely and engaging. The guides worked hard to share information and keep everyone safe and organized so we could enjoy the beautiful scenery ! I highly recommend this company and any tour they offer
Fab day. Much easier than a bus trip. More stops and information. Very well organised and would reccomed to everyone. Teide is a must for all visitors and Masca, too. Stunning views .loved our driver she was fantastic. Very hard roads to navigate and would recommend ot to take hire cars as most hire car drivers don't follow the rules .
We went on a 8 hour jeep tour from Los Gigantes to Teide and Masca, following a suggestion from Rebecca, the lady at the experience counter at our hotel. The tour guide was on time. We shared our jeep with a couple from UK too, so it was adequate space. We changed jeeps at a central transfer point where our guide changed to a very knowledgeable English guide. He definitely kept us entertained and was absolutely amazing driving through the narrow roads of Masca. Teide was magnificent and Masca was breathtaking. Although we took a lot of pictures, they honestly don’t do justice to the beauty of the place. Only a couple of suggestions- maybe to have an additional 15 minutes each in both Teide and Masca just to soak in some more of the beauty and more photos. Secondly, if there could be more vegetarian options at any stop points for lunch. One tip to anyone travelling to Teide- make sure you have warm clothes, especially for children. We did take warmer clothes with us after being tipped about how cold it could be but we underestimated the cloudy weather and significant colder temperature up the mountain.
Had an amazing day out today (4/10/24). We were lucky we got Frank as our driver. Very knowledgeable, very funny and made the trip! Thanks Frank, amazing init !!
Spent 8 hours in the back seat with our head in the roof of the vehicle. Guide had the radio on the entire trip and did not speak English well enough to understand our question. He was no interested in fusing the journey and had no interest interest in our question When we got off at the stops the scenery was stunning but we were not able to see anything from inside the jeep. The only person that has a view was the person in the front seat. Would not recommend we saw other companies out that had 100 percent viewing area.
Went on jeep safari expecting to go to off road areas of island but the entire trip was on normal tarmac roads. Drivers were good and helpful. We were collected near our hotel and taken to a central meeting point. Stood about for nearly an hour before tour got started. Areas visited were interesting but you could do the same tour in more comfortable transport. There appears to be no benefit to using a Landover as you don't go off-road
Picked up from the hotel and taken to a general meeting point where we met our guide and ‘jeep’ for the day. I think we were lucky and ended up just two of us in the jeep and felt a bit more personal. The driver knew the roads, you have to! Great service friendly knowledgable staff and pointed things out as we went around the island. Really recommend this.
A must see is Teide. And somehow Masca comes automatically with Teide. Chosing a tour is rolling the dice. The dice gave me Tamaran, who did not disappoint me. The tour in Dutch was done by a guy who left Flanders 40 years ago. He tells something about what you're looking at at each stop. Off course, the small group becomes a small crowd since you drive in a caravan of 4 or 5 jeeps. I noticed that the contents of the stories may vary between one or the other guide. Most important is, however, that these were enjoyable.
We have been up the mountain before in a coach but this time decided to book a VIP Tour through Jet2, it was fantastic Neil Montgomery the driver/guide of our eight seater mini bus was out of the world, his knowledge and understanding of the environment was second to none, he took us places we had not been before because a full size coach would not have been able to use the tiny roads he used. The hilltop restaurant we stopped at was fantastic. We enjoyed the whole day. Would highly recommend you use this service well worth the money.
Rude, arrogant and grumpy driver - was meant to speak English but didn't. Don't recommend Would have been a nice trip otherwise
Had a fantastic time on this tour made even more enjoyable by our guide Frankie who was very knowledgeable and a great laugh, the kids loved him! Amazing Innit! Definitely a memorable part of our holiday. Thank you.
We used this tour company to the teide only 1/2 day excursion Our driver Christian (Spanish) was superb he was fun and made the trip extra special We’ve done teide before and the views never disappoint. It’s lovely and feels like another planet jeep Safari off the beaten track so much better than a bus
I would recommend this trip if you are the sort of person that wants to see Teide and Masca. The drive down to Masca was interesting. If you choose to do this trip enjoy it, smile and be nice to your driver's. José (Frank...) is great and definitely an asset to Tamaran, he deserves a raise!
Honestly you put 8 of us in a van where the driver was French and spoke very little English or so he said but talked constantly and I mean constantly all the full eight hours in French giving just the odd nod to us Brits and Irish in the back. It was a horrible ordeal for us on what is our honeymoon. We had the just the odd chat with the Dutch guy on stop offs who failed to answer our historic queries. Very very disappointing and from the start the trip was so disorganised but like we said above we did not pay the sum of 122 euros to hear driver speak French constantly to the sole French couple and I mean constantly.Plain rude. You give should give us our money back at least We were the Columbus hotel couple on Saturday.
We went on the Teide and Masca trip with our 16 year old daughter. The scenery in Masca in particular was a real surprise. I hadn’t expected such lush vegetation and beauty on Tenerife. The guide was friendly and very knowledgeable, but balanced that well with allowing us to explore alone at key locations. Great trip!
This was the penultimate day of our holiday in Tenerife and our 2 boys aged 13 and 10 were excited about the excursion up to Teide. It is an early start for a holiday - 8.15 pick up from our hotel. The first leg was fairly hairy with the driver in a hurry to take us a few miles to the meeting point at Adeje. It didn't give us a lot of confidence about what to expect on the mountain roads but we needn't had worried. The tour was split up into different language groups and we swapped vehicles and joined our new driver Terry. He was very friendly and knowledgeable - British born but a Spanish resident. His driving was also far more reassuring steering the Toyota land cruiser effortless around numerous hairpin bends up to the National Park. There were several stops at viewpoints and Terry explained the history of the volcanoes. He was also very patient answering questions from our inquisitive ten year old. The downside is that you are inevitably travelling with other tourists and our companions weren't great at meeting the various deadlines tro return to the vehicle. This meant we were constantly late leaving and Terry had to drive faster to catch up with the rest of the convoy of vehicles. He was very patient and polite about it, but it must have been very frustrating for him. He was meant to act as guide to the other English travellers in other vehicles who were continually having to wait for us to arrive. The views are spectacular but don't expect to see molten lava or to be able to look down into the active volcano. Special permits are required to go up to the summit. There were sufficient toilet stops and an hour long stop for lunch at a restaurant en route to Masca - we did find the menu rather limited though, especially for children. The boys actually enjoyed the remote village of Masca more than the volcanic landscape. It is certainly picturesque and only accessible via one 5km switchback road - again Terry's driving was impeccable. One other thing to note - the whole tour is on proper roads - 4 x 4's are not allowed off road in the National Park
This trip was well worth every penny, we were picked up from our hotel before being taken to meet the other jeeps where we were greeted by a lovely drive named colin. He was the driver for the rest of our day and our guide for the trip. He filled us full of some interesting information and facts about the island and the different places we stayed at. He was funny and made the trip even more enjoyable. There wasn’t lunch included on the excursion however this was not an issue as we stopped off at a lovely place where you could get a 3 course meal or snacks, however on this occasion we took our own packed lunch. I would definitely recommend this trip and it took you to many places you couldn’t see on foot.
We had an amazing day and were very lucky with the weather. Our guide Frankie was really good fun, very knowledgeable and engaging. We had a lovely lady driver (sorry, I can’t remember your name), very funny and she made us feel safe. There are lots of stops and photo opportunities and the scenery is breathtaking. It was easily the best day of our holiday. Even our teens enjoyed it because it wasn’t boring and quite exciting going down the road to Masca. I’d definitely go again and highly recommend the full day trip. Thank you to everyone for a wonderful time.
We just took a Teide and Masca safari. It was well organized and we saw fantastic landscapes. Our driver/guide Terry was brilliant, very friendly and informative. We had good normal seats as well. However, some guests had to sit sideways at the back of the Land Cruiser which may not have been quite as comfortable. On the whole highly recommended.
We had the best day, we were in the jeep with Frank, he made the day for us, very knowledgeable gave us lots of information about the island, Frank clearly enjoys his job and was very funny amazing init, would 100% recommend this tour
Last week, me and my best friend booked this excursion whilst we was on holiday on Tenerife! I can honestly say this was an incredible experience! All of the staff were so friendly and so funny which made the whole trip ten times better! It’s not always where you go it’s who goes with you! & the Tamaran team are amazing! There’s no words to describe them all! I want to give a big shoutout to Max & Frank! They were both the highlight of my trip!
We had an excellent time on this tour. The views are spectacular and our great guide (Dutch guy, can’t remember his name) was very informative. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Both Teide and Masca are magical places. Lunch was not included so we could choose what we wanted from menu. It was not cheap but it was very good. Thank you for a great day and for dropping us off at our hotel.
Franky was an excellent tour guide for our jeep tour! His wealth of knowledge about the area and its history made the tour both informative and enjoyable. He was also very personable and accommodating, making sure everyone in our group had a great time. I would highly recommend Franky as a guidance to anyone looking for a great jeep tour guide in the area!
We had a brilliant time on the Teide and Masca tour. This was a great way to see the island during our stay. Pick up was prompt and it is clearly well organised by the team. Nancy our driver was knowledgeable not only of the tour stops/points of interest but also about Tenerife in general. She was humorous and had time to answer any questions we had. We would recommend this tour to anyone visiting.
Myself, wife and 2 children (12 & 8) had a fantastic day out. Our driver and tour guide Frankie was beyond brilliant. He was hilarious, knowledgeable and clearly loves his job and the island. The over all tour was very well organised and got to see a lot of the island and national park. Frankie our tour guide really made the day for us, thank you very much
Fantastic tour today by our very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly driver Bruno. Bruno Our Driver Bruno our driver to Masca He is a bit of a rascal For sure you’ll not sleep As he drives his big jeep He’d take on the top cars at NASCA Bruno our driver is swell With plenty of stories to tell At speed or at rest He’ll give you his best Adios Amiga, live well From The Sharp Family
We did the full day tour taking in Mt Teide and Masca, with a stop for lunch. Fantastic way to see the island, and probably our best day of the holiday. Our driver / guide Frankie was 'Amazing, innit', keeping us entertained and informed the whole time. His driving skills are top notch even if he enjoys putting the wind up you on the mountain roads ! The optional lunch was really good value at 12.5 euros and very nice, so would recommend having this. Next time we visit would like to do the La Gomera trip, and hopefully get Frankie again. Thanks for a great day.
