Disappointing to fly for 4 hours from the UK, and drive for an hour up the volcano to one of the world's best dark sky areas, only to have the restaurant the tour is run from keep its lights on for 90% of the experience. We had three opportunities to use the telescopes, which allowed us to see the moon, Andromeda galaxy and Saturn for 30 seconds each. Maybe I've been spoilt by some good viewing in the UK, but the telescope views weren't that great. The experience I was really hoping for was incredible naked-eye views of the milky way with some awe-inspiring facts from the guide to accompany it, but this really wasn't that... If I were you, I'd spend the money on a set of binoculars and find your own spot far away from the restaurant this tour is run from.

Amazing experience from the beginning to the end, unfortunately we had the calima which prevented us from getting a nice sunset experience but the night skies was worth it. On the other hand the staff is amazing especially Fabien the French guy, his explanations bring another dimension to the experience. A must do to see the sky by night.
The staff was knowledgeable, fun and friendly. This was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Wow!
An excellent excursion from start to finish. Craig was informative and entertaining on the coach. The food was rustic but delicious. Sunset was beautiful and the free photos really added to the experience. Kieran and his team were very knowledgeable about the night sky and we really were informed well as to what we were looking at and the use of the telescopes was amazing. no point did we feel rushed. Very memorable evening. Thoroughly recommended.
Craig, Kieran and the team were really entertaining and knowledgable about the skies and Tenerife. Even though there was a clima, the team knew how to get the best out of the sunset. Stars were amazing. Learnt so much. Costs provided for those who were cold. Restaurant staff were friendly and efficient. A well run and organised team. Thoroughly recommend.
Top, best excursion ever in Tenerife, great staff , lovely people, pick up, dinner, guiders , everything was breathtaking
Such a lovely way to spend an evening. We really enjoyed it and the tour guides were amazing. We learned so much. Only downside was the meal but apart from that it was just fab!! Highly recommend this to anyone
Absolutely fantastic experience! Craig our guide was very educational, funny and helpful! Bus driver Nikolas was a fenomenal driver! Bus was nice and cool and super tidy. Everything was timed spot on, nobody was late! Restaurant we stopped at was lovely and food was very tasty! The night itself was unforgettable! Loads of funny moments, incredible knowledge and information to digest and alot of WOWS!!! Sunset, Cava, telescopes and the moon was just incredible!! Never will I see it the same Waited 4 years and it was worth waiting every second! If I ever come to Tenerife, I will be doing it again for sure!!
Amazing trip. Keiran the guide really made our trip. Thank you for a great time! Food was average but we didn't go up for a romantic meal. IT was a full moon so there was light pollution but it was great to see the moon and its craters through the telescope.
Amazing evening! Craig was a wonderful host; passionate and knowledgeable about Tenerife. The restaurant was an experience, which maybe wouldn’t book again. But the sunset with a glass of cava went down a treat! After then driving higher, we arrived at the star gazing spot above the clouds. I have never seen anything like it! Utterly amazing. This being both mine and my partners first time star gazing, and unless we’re wanting to make the trek to Hawaii or Chile it couldn’t get any better. Kieran went through everything with such detail and passion, was a brilliant tour guide! Professional photos were taken throughout the entire night, which were sent free of charge the next day too.
Gerat experience, the guides were really documented and we learned many amazing facts about the universe. The food at the local restaurant was good (we also had drinks included). Be sure to bring warm clothes as it gets very cold in the evening (even if the organizers have many puffer jackets, which is a big plus!)
This tour is very good value for money. We paid just under 70 euros, and included was pick up from our hotel, taken to a restaurant for a 3 course meal, drove up to watch the sunset, drove again for stargazing, and then dropped back off to our hotel. The restaurant staff were quite rude and the food was okay. The actual tour itself was great, the sunset was lovely and Cava was offered whilst watching the sun set. The stargazing was unbelievable, an unforgettable experience. We were offered hot chocolate, and the free photos we were offered on Facebook were great :) . We were not too impressed with the telescopic viewings, but the view from the location made the tour totally worthwhile itself. The only downside I had, was the gentleman who picked us up. He really meant well, but he basically gave us a science lesson on pine trees for 30 minutes! It make the journey extra long, and to be honest quite uncomfortable. He questioned about us knowing things (really difficult scientific terms) and was quite belittling if you did not know an answer! But the tour itself was great.
Excellent communication. Knowledgeable, enthusiastic guides who want everyone to have a great time! We were picked up from our hotel, had a filling dinner, drove the bus to Teide. Learned about Tenerife’s history, got photos & cava (champagne) by the sunset. Stargazing was fun (in my personal opinion, I wish we spent a little less time doing that). Amazing value — all photos were free too, which was a HUGE plus. Thank you for the unforgettable experience!!’
What a fabulous trip really enjoyed the meal was lovely and the sunset was stunning and the stars were amazing! Craig the guide was very knowledgeable and helpful as was Kieron who new everything about the stars! Also great other staff who handed out cava and hot chocolates nothing was to much trouble and a great bus driver great bunch of guys would highly recommend! Thanks Guys!
I absolutely loved this tour and would highly recommend it. Was picked up at my hotel and brought for a casual meal. Was fine, was just looking forward to getting to the sunset and star gazing. Sunset was beautiful and had a lovely glass of cava. Then onto the best part. Met Kieran and hans up teide and they had 3 telescopes set up. They explained everything loads of really interesting information really enjoyed it. Happy to answer questions too. We all got a chance to see 5 different things through the telescopes and it was fantastic. They also took some pictures for free of the group and each of us under the stars which I really appreciated as I travelled alone and could never get that picture quality with my phone. Will def return at a different time of the year as things change every few months and can see different things so will book as soon as I am back in Tenerife. Fantastic tour guys, thank you.
What an amazing tour, it starts off with an amazing 3 course meal, then off to drink sparkling wine at the most idyllic sunset, then off up to the Volcano to watch the stars in all their splendour, Kieran and his team are very versed in astronomy and give an entertaining and informative look at the stars and indeed galaxies above, see them close up with really expensive telescopes in summary absolutely loved it
Wow, what can we say? Absolutely amazing experience to finish off our holiday in Tenerife! The restaurant at the start was very good and we could try some proper Canarian food. The organisers were very good and extremely knowledgeable. We would highly recommend this experience to anybody!
Was a very romantic sunset and stargazing tour. Craig and Kieran the tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable astronomers. We learnt a lot on the tour and it was very memorable and romantic. Would definitely recommend to anyone who visits Tenerife.
We had an absolutely lovely time on this sunset and stargazing experience. We were picked up from our hotel at 6pm, and were driven (after the usual 30 mins of other hotel pickups) up to a restaurant about 700m above sea-level. We were provided a choice of chicken, fish, veggie or vegan food which was actually very nice. We chose fish and chicken and both enjoyed the food. You’re also provided with a beer (if you want it) soft drinks or wine. Then after an advised comfort break (our guide, Craig made it very clear that there are no loos on the mountain) we drove up above the clouds where we saw a beautiful sunset and the changing colours of the terrain as the light dimmed on the horizon. One point to make. It gets cold. Do not think that jeans and a shirt will suffice. We went in mid April and I wished I’d brought a jumper. Perhaps it would be an idea to have the excursion sellers be clearer about this. Puffer jackets were provided, but we’d probably have prepped a little better had we known. Still, the best part was the star gazing. We were a group of about 25 and Kieran, the chief astronomer talked about 20 of us through a dummies guide to the night sky. There was also another astronomer who spoke to the German and Dutch guests, so language is not a problem. The talk was informative and they definitely know their stuff. We’d never seen the stars as clear as this and were shown 5 different celestial marvels through their high spec telescopes. We saw galaxies, stars and ultimately the most incredible view of the moon we’ve ever seen. Then a coach back down and we were back at about 12:30. Have given this 4 rather than 5 stars. Not that this wasn’t awesome, which is was and highly recommended, but given that the trip is (from the restaurant where there are ‘facilities’) nearly 5-hours, which is a fair time without a loo it was an anxious last 30 mins down the mountain. If you’re of a certain age, definitely don’t have too much to drink before you go! One special mention was to our host during both coach trips up and down who was brilliant, clear, and knowledgeable. A thoroughly enjoyable night.
This was really cool! I’ve been to Tenerife a few times before but never to Teide, so it was cool to go see it in this way! We were a group of 6 and got picked up from the bus stop closest to our AirBNB. The pickup time was 6:20 but we were told to be there 10 min early and good thing cause the bus arrived around 615. We then went to get more stargazers and started our tour. Craig gave us a nice little history lesson about Tenerife as we made our way up to the National park. We stopped for dinner at a small spot called El Guachinyero Restaurante, which was ok but we only had 45 min and that was the last place to use a toilet so none of us really drank anything. They provide a soda, water, and beer or wine. (The restaurant only had 1 mens and 1 woman's toilet so as you can imagine there was a long queue when we needed to leave) Then we continued up to the mountain and got a bit more history before we stopped for the sunset which was very pretty. The volcano on the opposite side changed colours quite a bit too! Here they gave out a glass of cava, but again we were all too worried about the bathroom situation for the next few hours that none of us drank any. After the sunset we drove to the stargazing spot where Craig and Kieren and the others gave us an outline of the stars and constellations and we got to see in the telescope’s some galaxy’s and closer views of the stars. The moon was half full and so it wasn’t as dark as it could have been, but there were no clouds so we still saw a lot! They had small cups of hot chocolate at one point and there was plenty to see while waiting to look through the telescope’s. At the end we drove back down and got dropped off near where they picked us up. We got pictures along the way and overall it was a great evening under the stars! The cons would be the lack of facilities at the restaurant, and because some of the guests were not ready at their pickup we had to have a rushed dinner to make the sunset. Pros were the guides, the scenery and the free photographs that were on Facebook by midday the next day!
Very nice range of experiences, good tour guide, saw a nice sunset. And in the night sky we saw numerous stars through the provided telescopes with very good visibility. Would advise to bring jackets at the stargazing site as it's very cold in the evening.
We were unable to see the sunset or do any stargazing due to cloud, not their fault at all but other aspects of the tour were disappointing too. The three course meal was only two courses and consisted of an overcooked leg of chicken served with a few canarian potatoes and a plate of chips alongside some rice mixed with frozen mixed veg and some very chunky coleslaw and dessert was a two inch square of frozen iced cake with a squirt of canned cream. Having seen pictures of past events it seems as though we missed out on the soup course. I fail to see what was typically canarian about the meal. It wasn’t pleasant or tasty. There were some drinks on the table but one member of staff told us as we were leaving that we could have had beer too. When we got to the viewing place there was sparkling wine but no provision for non drinkers apart from what I assume was meant for kids, a carton of milky fruit juice. No sign of the hot chocolate as mentioned in other reviews. As it was so cold we were advised to sit in our car until the activity could start then we saw that they had packed away the equipment and were about to drive off so jumped out to find out what was going on and they said it was postponed and we could get a partial refund or go another night. We are awaiting the refund. I would have thought that if you are offering an event that is reliant on good weather you would have access to a decent weather tracker. We paid 60 euros each for a terrible meal that was probably worth 10 euros.
On Tripadvisor it reads as if it involves small groups. Attention we were 80 and had 30 seconds per person at the telescope. The guide assigned to us was already busy with the next few days again and was organizing more new tours than providing information. We were self-drivers, maybe more is explained about the process on the bus. At the meeting point, the guides were 15 minutes late, which would be completely okay if it were the only shortcoming. The food was surprisingly good, even if the location is naturally for bus groups. The telescopes were in the parking lot (so not a mystical place), and cars kept coming and going. In the dark, observing stars is counterproductive. I am giving it a 3 because the experience is naturally very nice. However, I would have chosen a much cheaper option if I had known that this was a mass tourism group, and the provider, in our case Tripadvisor, should really write that down.
Fantastic experience on Teide, Kieran and his team were fantastic, experienced and helpful. They have a great knowledge of the astronomical world and using the telescope for the first time was really nice
Very pleasant people, very good knowledge about the island, the national park and the stars. Nice experience with local dinner, sunset with cava. The English guides are well tuned to each other, et nice jokes. Stargazing in Tenerife and a must if you are here, and especially with them. All the pictures they take are included in the price, normally they charge 20-40 euros for this. And they do their best to take beautiful pictures.
A magnificent evening with stars, galaxies and planets. You don't have to be a seasoned astronomer to follow the explanations of Keiran and his team, who know how to make things simple and beautiful. Dinner at 5pm is a little early for Spanish time, and understanding of English was necessary (an astronomer guide spoke French, sessions may be available).
Very nice sunset and superb stargazing with both scientific and cultural explanations about the constellations. The tour was in English/German/Spanish but I found the English-speaking guide very easy to understand even for someone not fluent in the language.
What an amazing experience! The team of night skies managed to convey an incredible passion for stars and astronomy Starting with a dinner with a fantastic view, we then went on to watch the sunset in an oasis surrounded by nature and then conclude the adventure with an in-depth observation of stars and planets Every member of the Night Skies team was knowledgeable, kind and helpful, but a special mention goes to Ronald who managed to make us look at the stars with different eyes
Great experience with super passionate and kind people. Make you feel unforgettable emotions, explanations and sympathy
Information was sent in advance via WhatsApp. We joined the tour group at 7 p.m. at the La Granja restaurant because we wanted to drive in a rental car. The group was traveling in a large coach. The food situation was more like a canteen situation and the guests sat together at long tables. At 7.10 p.m. the plates were already on the table, there was a chicken leg and a piece of pork with some salad and 2 small potatoes. For dessert there was a chocolate cream tart. The food tasted delicious, the drinks were included. You could tell that everything was very timed, as the restaurant organizes it that way every evening (private party). As self-drivers, the food would not have been necessary for us. About an hour later, everyone drove together to a parking lot in a park further up. There was champagne there and we could watch the sunset. The guides took photos of everyone throughout the evening, which were available free of charge a day later. There are certainly nicer spots for the sunset, but there is simply no room for the coach there. After dusk, we continued up to 2100 meters to a parking lot on the street. There, the guides had already prepared 4 telescopes. The participants were then divided into an English and a German group. The German guide Hans had a huge amount of knowledge and you could tell he was passionate about this area :) Everyone was allowed to look through the telescope about four times in total and admire different stars/planets. It ended around 11:30 p.m.
One of the most beautiful life and travel experiences. Dinner at a fantastic local restaurant, family and super nice team. Following sunset on the slopes of Teide sipping a good glass of bubbles. At sunset we moved to the foot of the teide at 2100m, to observe the stars with the step by step story of everything from the experts of the team in astronomy. They are not all astronomers, but believe me the whole organizing group loves what they do and they are passionate. Photos and we were also offered cold jackets and hot chocolate. They take photos and videos, FREE, included in the fee so you have an indelible memory. Congratulations on everything. If you go to Tenerife, you absolutely must have this experience!! You guys are great!
If you want something different and even if you have little interest in astrology, this tour is highly recommended. A very unique experience, well organized, incredibly nice people with a good dose of humor. Informative also very strong.
Since we were on our vacation in Puerto de la Cruz, there was no pickup from the north. But because we had a rental car, that was no problem for us. Especially because there is this tour to drive yourself:). And it was the best decision for us to do it this way! Because admittedly - at first I was a bit skeptical. We got the tour recommended by friends who were in Tenerife in 2018. You told us that there is max. There are 10 people with whom you are traveling. In the meantime, however, the company has grown. When we then met at the restaurant with the guides, we were a bit confused that the whole restaurant was staffed by guests who also took part in the tour. When we left the restaurant, a coach was waiting for the others. But well - we thought we'd let it come to us. From the restaurant we drove on to the first spot where you could see the sunset with a glass of sparkling wine to toast. Afterwards we drove a little further up the Teide to see the stars there. And I have to say - I have never seen such a clear sky and discovered so many stars! In advance we were asked if we were okay with English or if we wanted a German translation. We have chosen German! Hans explained really well and gave us great information. You could tell that he is passionate about the cause (of course with the others too). And since we were only 4 Germans in total - we had our small group again ;) He then took us a bit side by side, so we were a bit off the bigger groups. It was truly unique and a day I will never forget!
We could learn a lot from our guide Hans and he was open to any question. Very funny and likeable guide! You see things through the telescope that you would probably never see through your own eye in your life. A great experience!
I proposed to my partner to get married with the sunset behind us and a fantastic view, it was really special! It is not available in Italian but if you are lucky enough to have Craig as your guide you will not have too many difficulties (An astronomy base is a must) Cover yourself up, it's cold! P.S.: The North Star is to the left of the Big Bear!
From eating to sunset and stargazing everything was great! Above all, the guide is very funny and competent.
