Itinerary
We will go out in search of dolphins and whales to observe them in their natural environment and learn something about them while enjoying the show they offer us in front of the boat, jumping out of the water or playing among them. We can also see other types of marine fauna such as turtles, flying fish ... We were the first to start this activity on the island. All these years have given us enough knowledge to guarantee success in our excursions. Even so, on very few occasions it may be that we do not see any whales or dolphins and if this happens, we will give you a bonus so you can come for free another day on the boat. Upon boarding you will receive a small brochure with explanations about dolphins and whales, illustrated with photographs of these made from the ship. During the excursion you will have free soft drinks and water. We designed this catamaran specifically for this activity and so that all passengers could enjoy these wonderful animals comfortably and safely. It is a boat with glass bottoms to see dolphins and whales underwater when they swim next to the boat. An unforgettable experience.

A fantastic trip! Saw many dolphins, a turtle and flying fish! Second time I’ve done this trip and will do again too
Coach pickup was fantastic, fully air-conditioned which made a blistering hot day more bearable! We drove through the hills which were beautiful. The boat launch was prompt, and staff were amazing. Unfortunately we didn't spot dolphins, but a coupon for another trip was issued. I didnt mind, its wildlife and not guaranteed. The boat trip was nice in itself
Everything was really good. Exaxtly 2,5h like they said.
We did a later afternoon experience and it didn’t disappoint! We saw lots of dolphins when we got to the area! However, it was a rough journey to get there with the boat been expertly sailed through some rough parts of the sea. All I can say is there was a lot of sea sick people … it felt like a long time to get there and back but entertaining for us for all the wrong reasons. The crew were great with the sea sick passengers, seems like it could be a regular occurrence so if you know you’re prone to it, maybe give the experience a miss.
This was a good experience. The coach came on time for the pick up and it was a pleasant journey through the mountains to the marina to get the boat. The staff on the boat were very friendly and helpful. The sea was a bit rough and we travelled more that two hours before seeing some dolphins 🐬 It was a fantastic experience. This trip included a swim stop for those who wanted to take a quick swim for ten minutes before we headed back to the marina for disembarkation.
Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience for us. The sea conditions were extremely choppy, which made the trip very unpleasant. A number of passengers were struggling with seasickness and the staff were regularly handing out sick bags. To their credit, the staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and obviously the sea conditions are outside of their control. Unfortunately, we also didn’t see any dolphins. We appreciate that wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, but after such a difficult journey it added to the disappointment. On the return journey there was a planned swimming stop. From what we could see, nobody seemed particularly interested in stopping by that point — most passengers appeared to simply want to get back onto dry land. I also don’t recall being offered the “free soft drink” that was supposed to be included. At the end of the trip, a tip box was put out for passengers, which felt a little optimistic given the experience we had! There was also someone who boarded the boat offering photos of the trip, and we received a small plastic keyring as a souvenir. Thankfully, once we had recovered, our group could see the funny side of the day. However, I would strongly advise anyone considering this trip to think carefully about how well they cope with choppy sea conditions. If you know you suffer from seasickness — or simply don’t know how you’ll react — this may not be the trip for you. I appreciate that the operator cannot control the weather or guarantee dolphin sightings, and the staff themselves were pleasant. Unfortunately, the combination of the rough conditions, seasickness and no dolphin sightings meant this was not an enjoyable experience for us.
It was an incredible experience once in life time felt like. so amazing to watch them in their nature.
Wonderful experience, we saw plenty of dolphins, great facilities on board, friendly staff and a great knowledgeable team, the were really caring to all in particular those that got a bit sea sick, overall fabulous afternoon. Thanks you.
What a super experience! The crew were fantastic! They were super knowledgeable about the sea creatures and informed us if they spotted anything. We saw lots of flying fish and we were lucky to see a bryde whale. It was brilliant to hear how they collected their sightings and shared this with university programmes in order to protect these majestic mammals. They also didn’t go too close to the animal. I would definitely recommend this tour it was so well run.
Always great, boat trip out to the protected area and invariably see lots of dolphins. On this particular trip I was lucky enough to see some babies too!!!
Finding the stand to get aboard is easily marked. The staff at desk and getting aboard were super friendly. The tour was narrated throughout in different languages so it is inclusive for everyone. As soon as boat driver saw anything visible to guests, he pointed it out ensuring no one missed anything. Once we reached the dolphins the staff were so helpful in ensuring everyone could safely get to the bars around the boat to get a good look and get videos etc. The staff aboard were happy to help hold you or your children in place to ensure safety and doing it with a smile. It was an amazing experience for myself and my children and I'm so glad we booked it, it isn't guaranteed that dolphins will be out to be seen but we got very lucky and saw around 20-30 dolphins, to see them in their natural habitat was amazing. the staff also are super cautious of the fact that we are in their home and not to disturb them too much which shows how attentive they are to their jobs in ensuring the sea animals are kept safe while also collecting some plastic they spotted while we was coming back to land. I would 100000% recommend doing this tour and doing it with this company ensures the sea life are also at the top of their priorities.
Wow! The crew were fantastic, very knowledgeable and nothing was a bother to them . We thoroughly enjoyed our trip seeing the dolphins swimming so freely was as truly amazing experience . They even released a sea turtle on our trip they they had caught trapped allowing it back to freedom . Honestly give it a go you so t regret it !
Great Crew. We were lucky to see whales and dolphins and it was great!
We really enjoyed this tour and would definitely recommend it. We were lucky to see a group of dolphins and even a Blainville's beaked whale, which was very special. Seeing these amazing animals so close to the boat was an unforgettable experience. What we appreciated most was the way the crew treated the wildlife with great care and respect. They never chased or disturbed the animals and gave them plenty of space. Everyone on board was very friendly and helpful, and you could really feel their passion for marine life. We also had calm seas, but some people still got seasick, so it is worth bringing some motion sickness tablets just in case.
A great experience, great boats with glass bottom Hulls for a close up experience with the sea life, the sea was choppy nothing that can be done about that but if unwell the staff will try and assist. We got some great time with a squad of Atlantic spotted dolphins, fly fish which are hard to video because they are quick. Would return.
Very good, we saw 2 of the animals in the list, including loads of dolphins and some flying fish. The soft drinks were free and it also had water. There was 1 swimming stop, the weather was nice and warm, mainly when stopped for the sighting of the dolphins and flying fish. Overall, a very good day out.
Great experience, perfect if you are unsure about doing a longer tour.
I love spirit of the sea experience. The whole team are lovely and they work hard trying to maintain respectful distance from the wildlife but still give the clients the experience. They work at sea conservation and cleaning the ocean and wildlife if needed. I love that the don’t chase the wildlife like other boats.
Great like always we have been using this for last few years and will come back again when we come next year
Excellent day. We took the swim afternoon session. Bit long for kids but perfect for grown ups. Manage to see a whale close up which was brilliant.
This tour should come with a warning! Extreme seasickness. It was truly awful from the minute we left, everyone around us was vomiting including ourselves. The staff did their best but my children were traumatised, crying, vomiting, it was hell. Not worth it just to catch a glimpse of a dolphin, it was horrendous
Absolutely horrendous - should come with a sea sickness warning! The sea was so choppy, everyone around us was vomiting, the staff did their best but no way to spend your day. My kids cried. No safety briefing either, could barely hear the audio. Not worth it to see some dolphins just traumatising. Avoid avoid avoid
Excellent trip with caring and knowledgeable staff. Saw lots and lots of striped dolphins and a turtle plus a few flying fish. Very enjoyable.
It was a wonderful experience for the whole family. Despite the fact that I felt dizzy on the way back it was very exciting, the crew was accommodating and sweet. We were lucky to see a Delphine family shortly after we took off from the harbor.
Saw lots of dolphins on the boat tour however, the sea was so rough and a vast majority were all sea sick on board including ourselves so it was hard to enjoy the experience. The crew were quick with the sick bags though so seems they were prepared.
Excellent trip. We saw lots of dolphins and had a lovely boat ride
Lovely afternoon saw plenty of dolphins, flying fish etc but no whales today Friendly staff. Take a jumper as it can get breezy. Boat wasn't over packed
We booked a trip but unfortunately the weather wasn't great and we didn't see anything. However, we were offered a free of charge second chance which we were able to take and saw some dolphins, a turtle and some flying fish. Good people on the boat. and the shore.
Incredible. We did loads of research on the various options for dolphin watching on the south coast of Gran Canaria and this one worked best for us with a 3 year old (it’s only 2 to 2 and a half hours long and it’s a big, stable boat with seats and room to walk about). We couldn’t be more delighted with our choice. We saw hundreds of dolphins (the captain said 300-400). The views from the top deck are great, but the main deck level got us so close to the dolphins we were amazed. Then we went below deck to see the dolphins underwater which was nothing short of magical quite frankly. The staff were great with our young child and we found the QR codes on the back of every seat gave us links to all the info we needed. Our top tip is to pop to the pharmacy before the trip to get some preventive sea sickness tablets. They saved us!
Outstanding cetacean viewing experience! With calm seas and good visibility, and the tremendous skills of the skipper and mate, we managed to connect with a pod of 16 short finned pilot whales. The crew did not wish to disturb the whales and they actually came to us to provide exceptional viewing. We also managed to see sea turtles, lots of flying fish, and a very speedy hammerhead shark that finned out passing the vessel! Hugely recommended, a top whale watching experience.
We had a once in a lifetime experience of seeing a large pod of 100-200 dolphins surrounding the boat. The ride is a bit rough, since its a small boat on the open ocean, so might want to avoid if you're prone to seasickness. But I definitely recommend the tour.
It became boring just going up and down on the waves. I think it should be made more interesting than a pre recorded tape with very little English. We did get a free ticket to return but I wouldn't want to risk not seeing them again. Also the sea was very choppy so didn't want to risk walking to the back to get a drink or use the toilet. Booking process was easy via Jet2.
Absolutely horrible experience, due to high wawes and travelling with kids. Our family of four experienced both panic and puking. No dolphins, but I can’t imagine anyone being interested in seeing them considering the terrible state so many passengers were in. I would urge the company to take on the following measures: 1. Recomended minimum age of 12. 2. Articulate clear warnings before entering the boat about the current weather situation. We could not imagine the high waves at sea, as it was much better close to the shore. The boat is open, which I guess is nice for adults or older children when you se dolphins, but definitely not suitable for a toddler or three-year old. The crew did a good job in providing puking bags and cleaning up sick after everybody, so very service minded. But please reconsider the route when the waters are rough.
No dolphins or whales and 1/3 of the passengers got seasick and puked during the 1h trip back. Absolute nightmare for everyone.
The boat ride was pleasant, and although we didn't see any marine life, it was good to be out on the water. The boat's crew are welcoming and kept you informed about potential dolphin and whale sightings throughout the journey. Some free drinks and snacks are available throughout the journey. The person managing the boat's check in however, was quite unwelcoming and lectured us pretty harshly after I informed them that our trip had been rescheduled via Viator. I'm unsure why they felt it necessary to be so rude, not great customer care. Based on that experience I would try an alternative boat company next time.
Well organized trip, friendly staff, overall good mood and good sailing. Total duration: 2.5 hours. Unfortunately, no dolphin or whale sighting. We received vouchers which can be used in the following year to book a free second trip.
We had a really great experience at this trip with "Spirit of the sea". The crew was really nice and friendly and gave the guest a honest introduction how to behave in a good and respectfull way on the boat. They where really into it to find dolphins- and we where lucky to meet a really big group who where happy to play around the boat :). But it is for sure important to keep the expectations low, because with wild animals you can never know...
The staff were nice and the views leaving the port were amazing. Unfortunately, things quickly took a turn for the worst when we were approached by strong waves causing major motion sickness for my family along with many others. Bags were provided. No whales were discovered, only a few small dolphins. The ride lasted entirely too long (almost 2.5hrs). Needless to say, we were happy to be back on land. I wish our experience would have been better.
Went above and beyond to find dolphins, even stayed out 30 minutes over time to find them. Really helpful with customer service.
We were struggling which company to go with, and so glad we went with this one. They were so respectful of the animals, and really welcoming. They rescued two young birds who had got stuck in an oil spill on the trip, and they said they take them to a rescue centre to be rehabbed and released. We saw hundreds of dolphins, and the crew were very respectful to not get too close and let the dolphins come over to us, there was no chasing, and after some time with the dolphins we moved on to reduce the disturbance to each group.
We saw lots of dolphins, flying fish and a turtle. And picked up a sick sea bird and some rubbish from the sea. Very informative and they care about the animals and environment which was a big Plus for me. Highly recommend.
Absolutely fantastic experience, took long time to find dolphins, but crew definitely did their best to locate it. What a lovely and considered crew as well. They rescued bird that was drowning and took him to vets after , kept taking plastic rubbish out of the ocean , very caring , amazing people. Lots of flying fish to watch, great experience!
We took our 10 year old son and we really enjoyed it. The crew are lovely and work together with other crews to find the dolphins. We thought we weren't going to see any and then the last 15 minutes they were located. They added on about 20 mins to the trip to find them which was great. They have water and soft drinks on board. There is not much to do at the marina so not somewhere you'd spend long in before or after.
Fantastic afternoon dolphin watching on the spirit of the seas. Did the afternoon tour, should have been 2 1/2 hours but lasted 3 as captain was busy looking for them. Found the pod and spent 15 mins watching the group, followed by a short swim closer to shore. Amazing afternoon - would recommend. Read a few reviews about sea sickness but our sailing was fine. Took some sickness tablets just in case. Thanks to the crew too!
We booked through tui for the 22nd October, waited outside hotel half an hour before pick up,really badly organised, checked coaches pulling up to be told that it wasn't our coach, waited for 30ish minutes after then rang up tui and was told they had already been and gone, totally not good enough, the tui rep asked didn't they make their selves known 🙄 so badly organised they said we were a no show terrible drivers and reps need to check their system without pulling off.
Our captain and boat crew ensured we found the dolphins and spent adequate time with them to capture photos and videos whilst ensuring that the time limit was respected in order to preserve their habitat and safety. The boat was well equipped and very spacious.
Absolutely fantastic from start to finish, extremely easy to book online using a QR code. Definitely value for money , all soft drinks are free once on board. Staff very informative, very friendly. Seeing Dolphins and Turtle's in their own environment is something I'm never going to forget ( amazing 👏 )
Although thé boat was full at 10:30 I had a great seat on thé lower deck first row Middle. Thé view was incredible. We saw alot a dolphins after 1 hour out in thé sea. I likes thé fact that they picked up thé plastic out of thé sea. Thé crew was helpfull to get you up, and bring drinks No bother to go downstairs to look under water. Windows are right under surface and you do not see a thing. Better stay in thé deck and just enjoy
Great experience to see the dolphins in their natural habitat. It's also great to see that the crew respects the animals that makes the experience truly great. Some might get seasick, barf bags and consolation are provided by the crew. The only critique I have is by the end of the cruise the photographer comes on board with the photos that were taken at boarding. My critique is that the photos and keychains are already printed and made even if you don't want them. That's really wasteful and puts an edge to the advertised environment friendliness of the company. In my opinion a better system would something similar to the amusement parks, that after you embarked the ship, you see your photos on a monitor and decide if you want to purchase anything or not.
