This trip ticked the ethos box for us. Electric, ocean friendly, relaxed and very small group. We really enjoyed it. Hosts were chilled and informative. We didn’t go with the expectation of seeing the dolphins so weren’t at all disappointed when we didn’t. As it states, no toilet so go easy on the fluids! The whole trip was very relaxing and chilled.

Itinerary
During our sunset experience, we embark from Puerto Calero with a small group of maximum 12 guests on board. As you relax on our spacious 108 m2 deck, you'll have the opportunity to witness one of the most stunning sunsets on the island while indulging in an "OceanBeer," a local white wine, or non-alcoholic alternatives, along with some delicious snacks. Our knowledgeable crew will provide fascinating insights into cetaceans, the various species found in the Canary Islands. With a stroke of luck, we may even encounter dolphins in a special area where they typically gather for their evening meal. The sunset tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours and is available year-round. Departing from Puerto Calero, specifically Dock F22, we will cruise along the coast, offering picturesque views of notable sites like Playa Quemada and the majestic mountains of Femés.

Knowledgeable and amenable hosts who tried, despite the weather (choppy and windy), to find dolphins. The trip was still lovely with the small group of 12 afforded plenty of sitting space and laying space on the netting both front and back. A beer was provided along with light snacks. The sunset was amazing, the boat was beautiful and entering/exiting the harbour definitely made me realise how the other half live!
Knowledgeable and interesting staff. Special boat - racing catamaran, very smooth. Liked the slight detours to scoop rubbish out of the ocean. Dolphins in abundance.
A fantastic few hours, the hosts were very knowledgeable and genuinely care about the sea life. This was one of our favourite days in Lanzarote. You must book, you won’t be disappointed!
We had a beautiful trip along the coast with Gonzales and Sylvia - who were both great at explaining the species and all about the Catalan itself. Sadly we didn’t see any dolphins or whales, but the trip was still wonderful, calm, peaceful and a chance to see the island from another view. Thanks!
Would have enjoyed the trip, even without seeing the wildlife. We were very lucky and saw dolphins, a whale and even a shark. Loads of space on the catamaran gave everyone plenty of space, not cramped at all, unlike the other boats we saw. Didn't need a jacket, but easy storage for backpack with jacket was very useful. Our hosts were excellent, thank you 😊
Unbelievable, myself and my fiance (Leon and Abbey) decided to book an excursion on our final night with WeWhale. From the start Gonzalo and his team couldn’t have been more clear/helpful regarding the activity with meet times and locations. When arriving at the boat they were extremely welcoming, gave us a great briefing of the trip and explained that ours and the animal welfare is priority, and they can’t guarantee any sightings - this set our expectations and made us feel at ease straight away. As we left the port he made us feel involved by showing us what signs to look for when spotting dolphins/whales and also sharing his personal binoculars with us and other participants, rather than it being a boring sail around a body of water, this made us feel part of the team. We were fortunate enough on our trip to see the dolphins, with our encounter he was incredibly respectful towards the group of dolphins and seeing his and his crews passion for the mammals emphasised we’d booked with the right team. He spent plenty of time educating us on the marine life and his past experiences (showing photos/videos/research)… I could spend hours talking about our experience and how amazing it was, but I think it would be best for you to experience this yourself at a bargain of a price. Thank you again Gonzalo and the team, we admire your dedication and passion. This truly topped of our holiday.
Amazing experience, seeing Dolphins in the Atlantic, Gonzalaz and Sylvia were very informative and brilliant hosts. I recommend no alcohol on this trip,as seriously it is not needed.
Lovely trip - even though we saw no whales and dolphins. A little disappointing but the views, experience, and the lovely crew still made it a great tour. Thank you
Found Wewhale website before we arrived, and because of mobility issues asked them if they could accommodate a wheelchair, they replied that it would not be a problem, they were true to their word, they assisted us on board and made space so that my wife was sat in her wheelchair safely. I also chose Wewhale because of their commitment to the environment, they only take small parties out (maximum of 12) and theirs is an electric powered Catamaran. The crew Gonzalo and Silvia were so passionate about their work and they took time out to make sure everyone on board was comfortable and explained about what they want to achieve, what kind of whales and dolphins visit the area. Highlight of the day having a Pod of Dolphins swim along side of the Catamaran
Gonzalo and the wonderful crew made this a trip of lifetime for my mother who had never seen dolphins before. The company prioritise marine ecology and with the silent electric powered catamaran we peacefully followed a pod of spotted Dolphin until they decided to give us a marvelous display next to the catamaran. Would highly recommend this trip.
Everything from pick up from hotel till the end was good. We got glass of drink, you can choose alcohol or non alcohol. When we were more distant from coast line, one member of crew saw dolphin, and more and more they are coming closer and swimming slowly. So we can filming and making pictures, it was great experience. Sunset is not clear we can seen, because we are going back and sun was kind go down but slow, and when we was back by boats deck , sunset is was beautiful. Thank you crew team for this experience. Definitely I recommend to go.
Lovely experience with lovely tour guide and captain who are really passionate about marine life and knowledgeable about local dolphins and whales. We saw a sea turtle and also a dolphin, so very happy :)
A small group tour on an open catamaran. Our guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Seeing dolphins is always a chance encounter but we managed to spot some towards the end of the trip. In any event the quiet electric catamaran is a lovely way to head out to sea and chill. Take something to pop on in case it gets chilly.
Didn’t think we would get to see dolphins but we did and it was fantastic. The catamaran was some thing different and another experience. Team on WeWhale were great. Would recommend.
We were lucky enough to see five dolphins, which made for a truly amazing and unforgettable experience in their natural habitat. The hosts were lovely and welcoming.
Booked as wanted too see the sunset seeing dolphins was a bonus but wasn’t my focal point, poss a bit overpriced but enjoyable couple of hours and plenty of space on the boat to see different angles
All communication leading up to the trip was good. Hosts clearly care about the environment and animal welfare. Got to see dolphins which was amazing. Would highly recommend over the larger boats that go out and “chase” the dolphins.
Great experience. Our captain (Gonzalo) made excellent contact with us before the trip to offer directions and advice. Small group number meant we were able to chat to other travellers. All the crew were very knowledgeable and were very generous with their time. No question went unanswered. Highly recommended.
Lovely tour! The trip was amazing - we saw bottlenose dolphins including a baby one. The team were very kind and informative. So interesting to learn about WeWhale and their work that they do for the environment and wildlife.
Excellent trip from start to finish. Sylvia was very knowledgeable and made the whole experience very memorable. Would highly recommend.
Perfect boat trip, very relaxing and we saw dolphins! Sylvia was excellent and clearly passionate about the subject of wildlife and conservation. Highly recommended.
We ell organised, and a very professional crew. Being limited to twelve people there was plenty of room on the boat. Clearly the crew are also “eco warriors “ very conscious of cleaning up our seas and looking after sea life. Fortunately we were able to see several pods of dolphins which was delightful. Finished with a beautiful sun set!
We had a wonderful sunset cruise out of Puerto Calero on a lovely warm summers evening with the lovely WeWhale team. We spent 2.5 hours plus out at sea looking for dolphins and/or whales but unfortunately on this occasion weren't successful but that is nature for you they don't (& shouldn't) perform on demand! Even so we thoroughly enjoyed our time on the catamaran soaking up the views and knowledge that the team imparted to us & will try our luck again next year :)
Good communication from organisers. Lovely trip with lots of space on the catamaran and could lie on the net and see water rushing by underneath. Guides very knowledgable - didn’t see dolphins this time but great trip and would definitely recommend.
A beautiful sunset boat trip. We were very unfortunate not to see anything but we still really enjoyed the experience. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. We were given a choice of drinks (water, smoothie or beer) and a small bowl of nuts which was a nice touch. It was beautiful to see the Lanzarote coastline and watch the sun set over the hills whilst sailing on a beautiful little catamaran. Great that the numbers were limited to 12 people so plenty of room on the boat to get a great view. Would definitely do this again and hope to see some marine life next time!
Lovely evening sailing on La Santa Maria which has a fascinating history. Sadly, we didn't see any whales or dolphins, but that didn't spoil our enjoyment. The sea was calm and the air was warm. The crew were lovely and knowledgeable and really care about the environment.
Unfortunately we didn't see any wildlife as the sea was so choppy but we knew that was a possibility going in, you can't control nature. Even without any whale or dolphin sightings we still thoroughly enjoyed the experience! The crew were very friendly and explained everything to us, they clearly love what they do and have a huge respect for the wildlife. The views were amazing, seeing lanzarote from the water is something I would recommend to anyone! The landscape against the setting sun is beautiful. It was nice to get a drink and some peanuts while we were out there too.
If responsible tourism is something you strive for, look no further!!! It was the experience of a lifetime to experience a pod of Atlantic spotted dolphins (with babies!!!!) with the crew of WeWhale!! They are a family-feel company whose mission is to show visitors the beauty of the sea, whilst doing their bit to conserve it. They work with local marine biologists and help them collect data on species abundances and distributions. They were a real pleasure to meet and be a part of one of their trips. Even better, they shared with us their GoPro footage (above and beyond!!) They even gave us really honest and helpful information before we booked - recommending the time and day based on the weather conditions. We were so happy! Highly recommend and will see you again as soon as possible!! Virginia
Very, very disappointing. Didn’t see a thing and by the end of the trip, I was routing for a seagull to catch a fish. Over 2 hours out and nothing. As for the seagulls, not one of them caught anything. On the plus side, the crew were sound but for £130 I didn’t pay to sit with the crew
Excellent tour! We saw and sailed along with Dolphins. The trip was brilliant and Gonzalo, the captain and his crew were very attentive and friendly. We were also offered a snack and a drink. I would recommend bringing a jumper or sweatshirt to put on as it can be a bit windy.
Lovely trip on board of a catamaran. The crew Gonzalo and Silvia were lovely. It was only a small group on board so we had plenty of space. We got to see a small group of dolphins too. Great experience I would absolutely recommend it
Very friendly, knowledgeable and kind tour guides (Gonzalo and co.). They took care of everyone incl. kids very well. They provide us with a snack and a drink along the way. The dolphins showed up and we sailed along with them at the last minute on the way back to the port. It was a fantastic experience. But even the sailing on its own and to be in the look out for dolphins was also exciting! It became a bit cold towards the evening so I would recommend to bring something warm to put on.
This was a lovely small excursion. No more than 12 people in each group. We got taxi to the marina. Staff were friendly and helpful. The catamaran ride was lovely and peaceful. We didn’t actually see any marine life during the outing, which is obviously a possibility, but even without seeing any whales or dolphins it was still a really lovely experience.
What a pleasure sylvie and her partner were very informed and it was just perfect. So we saw common Dolphins and a bryde whale, but the silence of the catarmaran and gact that the weather was calm just made this trip idyllic
Excellent trip, and a fabulous way to spend the evening. The experience was just as advertised - very relaxed, a small group in a beautiful catamaran. The crew were friendly and knowledgeable - we saw fin whales and dolphins. I chose this trip as my youngest has autism and learning difficulties, he finds bigger/busier trips overwhelming- this was just perfect for him.
Highly recommend this experience. The captain was extremely knowledgable and kind (giving me a jacket when I was cold towards the end). However, it was meant to come with snacks and drinks for the price. We had to share some corn between two of us (in a half of a coconut) and no drinks. Would have liked it to been faster about in the boat as I found 4kz a little slow when in the open sea. However, this is me being picky and would give it 4.5 if I could.
We were lucky enough to see three different types of dolphin on our trip, which I think is unusual and felt very special. The crew were very knowledgeable about the animals and respectful of being in their environment. The trip was very relaxed and we enjoyed a drink while aboard (note that the 'organic snacks' are just a small bowl of nuts so don't expect too much!!). We had walked to the meeting harbour earlier in the week so we knew where to go but hadn't gone all the way to the boat - I'd recommend leaving plenty of time if you're walking as it's about as far towards the end of the marina (walking out of town) as you can get. The bag with a polaroid, some info and a bottle opener/magnet was a nice touch - a little reminder of the trip and the conservation work.
Although we were not lucky enough to see dolphins the boat trip was very nice, the crew was fantastic and the landscape very beautiful.
Absolutely brilliant excursion. The crew were amazing….friendly, informative and so helpful. We were really lucky when a group of dolphins spend quite a while round the catamaran🐬….an amazing experience. Would definitely recommend this excursion. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Although we didn't get to see any whales or dolphins (next time!) We had an amazing time, a big thank you to Gonzalo and Sylvia for treating us so well and making sure we had a great time! They explained why were were going where we were going, some interesting facts about Lanzarote and pointed out a few of the interesting boats we encountered (we passed some marine biologists!) The boat helped with an amazing experience because it's electric it's so quiet you can listen to the waves. I haven't added any pictures of the view, it has to been seen and experienced, so added the selfie Gonzalo and Sylvia took on my phone (while taking a couple of pictures of us as well! :D ) Will be going again if we come back to Lanzarote!
The boat crew were amazing people :) The cathamaran experience was new to us and despite not seing any dolphins or whales, ( alas nature) we still saw some sea turtles and the vibes were amazing.
We really enjoyed this trip. We were gutted to not see any marine life but nevertheless we still enjoyed a relaxing ride and beautiful sunset. The team were great, contacting us before the trip to ensure we had all our information and they were all very friendly on board.
Don’t waste your money people, just arrived back from this boat trip…i understand that seeing dolphins is not guaranteed but in the title it says “dolphin sunset cruise” which we didn’t get to see either… we arrived back before the sun went down, and didn’t see anything significantly exciting also it mentions that drinks and snacks are included which we only received 1 beverage, no delicious snacks as stated on what’s included in the package. Furthermore there was no interaction or communication from the crew throughout the full journey which made it even more disappointing. As complimentary we received a polaroid picture which has 30% of us in the picture frame and a little bag. Overall it’s wasted an evening i could have spent doing something else.
A truly amazing experience. We went for my son's birthday and were greeted by a lovely and welcoming crew, saw a pod of dolphins as they migrated, got a Polaroid picture form keepsake, and watched the sunset. A wonderful cruise, would recommend.
I can only think that other reviewers haven’t traveled that much. We were sadly very underwhelmed by this trip. We absolutely realised that we may not see any marine mammals, but from the lacklustre welcome with no safety talk to the absence of any information about marine life in Lanzarote this trip was only ever going to be a pleasant motor on a catamaran with the gib up. The hydrophone and 360’ camera weren’t mentioned. The only person who really engaged with us was one of the ‘volunteers’.
Welcomed by a super friendly team onto an amazing electric catamaran! This trip should be booked without hesitation it is by far the best dolphin excursion on the island. We booked via the website and was contacted by the team on WhatsApp giving us detailed instructions on travel and questions. The boat itself is in very good condition and we was literally able to free roam anywhere we liked on it, throughout the 2.5hrs. Not many guests neither so feels very private. Refreshments and snacks included in the price. We were super lucky to see in excess of 10 dolphins at one point, it was surreal and so lovely to see them in their natural habitat. The team were so knowledgable explaining everything about the dolphins/whales and how ‘not to’ see them which other excursions were doing (circling them, making noise etc!) It was amazing how with the teams knowledge they knew where to wait, the boats silent and the dolphins approached us and before we knew it we were sailing along and the dolphins being sociable where literally at the boats side having fun, jumping in and out of the water next to us! We would 100% recommend WeWhale and for sure we will be back! Beautiful sunset on the way back and handed a complimentary bag and Polaroid picture of us keep. Thank You!
I had the most incredible experience on a catamaran! Sailing through the waters was already amazing, but the highlight was when dolphins began swimming alongside us. Watching these beautiful creatures glide effortlessly through the waves was absolutely breathtaking. It was a magical encounter with nature that I'll never forget. This team is truly exceptional, dedicated to the well-being of dolphins and the protection of our oceans. Their passion is evident in every aspect of their work. The guides are incredibly generous, sharing their deep knowledge and love for marine life. It's inspiring to see such commitment to preserving our oceans for future generations.
What a fantastic experience. We would recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing and peaceful boat cruise on their vacation. There were only a handful of other guests on board which created a lovely vibe. Although we didn’t see any dolphins the crew made it such a lovely experience - we had a bottle of beer on board watching the sunset and they took a Polaroid photo of us to take home. Gonzales the captain was very helpful on the run up to the trip, giving us useful information and answering any questions we had. They pride themselves on running ethical and eco friendly whale and dolphin tours so do support them!
Due to the extremely windy and rough weather our excursion was sadly cancelled. I am reviewing the customer service which was excellent. 2 days before our trip Gonzalo contacted me on WhatsApp giving me directions to the boarding point. When the weather turned rough he was quick to let me know that we couldn’t sail and offered me another date, which we couldn’t accept. Our money was refunded immediately.
