If you visit La Palma, looking up at the sky is non-negotiable—and booking a private stargazing tour with Los Cosmos is quite simply the best way to do it. From start to finish, the experience atop Roque de los Muchachos was nothing short of magical. Standing high above the cloud sea near the peak, surrounded by the giant astronomical observatories, sets an atmospheric and awe-inspiring backdrop before the sun even sets. Once darkness falls, the sky opens up into a vast, breathtaking canopy of light that feels almost close enough to touch. Our guide, Angelo, was exceptional. Super friendly, incredibly welcoming, and deeply knowledgeable, he brought the night sky to life with effortless passion. Whether explaining complex astronomical details, guiding us through constellations with precision, or pointing out deep-sky objects through the telescope, his warmth and enthusiasm made the whole evening feel uniquely personal and engaging. What sets this private tour apart is the intimacy and pacing. There was never any rush, plenty of time to ask questions, and a genuine effort to make the night feel special and memorable. If you want an unforgettable, high-altitude journey into one of the best night skies in the world, Los Cosmos and Angelo deliver an absolute masterclass. Unmissable.

Itinerary
This Stargazing Tour at Roque de los Muchachos is a truly magical experience. Perched high above the clouds at over 2,400 meters on La Palma in the Canary Islands, this world-renowned astronomical site offers some of the clearest and darkest skies in the Northern Hemisphere. As night falls, the Milky Way stretches brilliantly across the sky, and countless stars, constellations, and even distant galaxies become visible to the naked eye. The silence and stillness of the mountaintop add to the sense of wonder and serenity. The observatories nearby hint at the scientific importance of this location, while guided stargazing tours with powerful telescopes provide unforgettable views of the celestial objects above us. With minimal light pollution and frequent clear skies, Roque de los Muchachos offers one of the best stargazing experiences on Earth—an awe-inspiring connection to the universe that leaves a lasting impression.

I have to say this experience far exceeded my expectations. We had a private tour for two of us and Angelo's knowledge and enthusiasm really made it for us. But the night sky itself was the star of the show. Unlike anything you've seen. Just wonderful to gaze up at it. Yes, it's a little off the beaten track but it's really worth it.
Angelo was fantastic and a real pleasure! He was very knowledgeable and showed us some pretty amazing things through his telescopes and other equipment. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to La Palma!
Great experience! Angelo is a well-informed and funny guide
We booked with Angelo for a moonless night in early July. He met us at the Visitor Centre as arranged, we watched the sunset, then he took us to his telescope. We then spent over 2 hours picking out objects across the sky - first, Venus and Jupiter, then as the skies darkened further onto stars and binary systems, gas clouds and eventually distant galaxies. Angelo is extremely knowledgable about astronomy and his English is perfect, helping us to understand more and ore about the visible universe. I cannot recommend him highly enough. As there were only two of us, Angelo was able to give us both lots of "telescope time," enabling our eyes to adjust to the viewfinder and really appreciate the beauty and wonder of the sky. We were lucky with the weather, no wind, so the temperature dropped from around 21 degrees to about 11 degrees by 11.30pm. We were told that the wind can drop the temperature significantly, so wear long trousers, ideally jeans, and wear layers. We wore t-shirts, fleeces and padded down jackets and hats. If you love nature and want to take advantage of some of the darkest skies in the world, contact Angelo and enjoy an incredible evening under the stars. Be aware that you need to make the journey to Los Muchachos by yourself, so allow plenty of time and drive carefully on the way down.
This Tour was really special and one of my highlights at Lapalma Angelo was a perfect guide, nice, professional and funny. :) the informations were so interesting and the sundown and the sky full of stars sooo amazing. I enjoyed this evening so much. So, do it :) and bring some warm clothes with you
We had a wonderful private stargazing tour at Roque de los Muchachos. Angelo is an excellent guide. He is friendly, calm and very knowledgeable. He explained everything in a clear and interesting way, and you could really tell how passionate he is about astronomy and the night sky. The location itself is already stunning, but Angelo made the whole experience even more special. The tour felt personal, well organised and truly worth it. We would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone visiting La Palma and looking for something unique.
We had an amazing stargazing tour on La Palma and can highly recommend it. What really stood out was our guide, Angelo. His knowledge of astronomy is exceptional, and he shared so many fascinating facts in a way that was easy to understand and engaging throughout the evening. I had already done a stargazing tour with another company before, but this one was far more informative. Thanks to Angelo, I learned so much more and gained a much deeper understanding of the night sky. Highly recommended!
Angelo is an extremely friendly person who is very knowledgeable about his subject. He provides an excellent introduction to astronomy. You can tell how passionate he is about it, and he tries to share that enthusiasm with the participants. A truly fascinating tour, made even more impressive by the location.
Absolutely incredible tour. Angelo was brilliant. Learned so much. Definitely the best thing we’ve done in La Palma and one of the best tours we’ve done in a long time. Highly recommend.
The sky in roques is amazing compared to the city or countryside one. An experience to do once in a life time. Why not to do with an expert and his own telescope that can give you explenation of the sky and show you close detail of moon Jupiter and some star and galaxy Angelo has deep knowledge on sky. He is also an Astrophotographer, can show you some of his work made with his scope and camera
If you want an amazing life experience, then this must be on your bucket list. A heart stopping white knuckle coach trip up the winding road to the top of the volcano, just in time to see the stunning sunset above the clouds. Followed by blackness that slowly iluminates with the twinkling of a billion stars. Magical, but make sure you have warm clothes, hat and gloves. As when the sun goes down the temp drops quickly.
Brilliant trip! Angelo was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and entertaining. It was really amazing to be above the clouds, see the sunset then experience the dark skies full of stars. Amazing views through the big telescope. In May when we went the milky way rises early morning so we didn't see that. You will see it on the trip if you are there between June and September. The route up from the west was very challenging with many tight hairpin bends and not for the feint hearted! We went back down to east side which took longer but much less scary!
Angelo is a true professional. His knowledge of and enthusiasm for astronomy are enlightening. We learned so much and saw some great sights on his telescope. You'll be amazed by how quickly he can find objects in the beautiful sky. Stupendo! Grazie mille Angelo!
This is a not to be missed experience on La Palma. Our guide was highly knowledgeable and explained about each of the objects we focused the telescope on in the night sky. The number of stars you could see and the clarity was amazing. Coming from the uk where the light pollution prevents us seeing it like this is was a real treat. I could have stayed all night but it was cold. So if you do this .. wrap up warm.
A well-organized and enjoyable small-group tour (up to 10 people) in an excellent location. We learned and saw a great deal, and Angelo added a personal touch that made the entire experience both educational and entertaining.
Good guide, nice stories, great experience We have learned a lot with this great guy named Angelo. He had such a great manner to tell stories and to keep the group within his stories!
We did not actually get to go on this amazing experience as they do not run for 10 days around a full moon. Very disappointing but we were glad that the Rep was honest in that we wouldn't be able to see very much due to the brightness of the moon. Next time for sure we will check! We know it is amazing because it was booked out for days.
Stargazing at the top of a mountain in La Palma was truly fantastic and a memory that my family and I will have for a long time. So many stars to see and a guide with a great telescope to point out loads of interesting sights.
An absolutely fantastic experience! Angelo's knowledge of the subject and the way he delivered what are mind-blowing facts in a simple-ish😀 way really helped us understand what we were looking at. The location on top of the mountain is simply mesmerising and cold! Wrap up warm regardless of the temperature on the coast. We chose the private experience and were so glad we did as we have more time with the telescope. The drive to the top of Roque de los Muchachos is quite demanding so take care.
Absolutely fascinating tour which I would highly recommend.
Angelo was very knowledgeable and friendly! Provided great insight on the solar system and the stars above, 100% recommend booking
Angelo was really good to deal with and pitched the session perfectly for all levels. Next time will book exclusive as was longing for more time on the telescope - and hopefully it will be warmer! Thanks 🙂
We had an amazing night. Angelo is enthusiastic and has much knowledge. Recommended.
This stargazing tour was amazing! Angelo is very passionate and knowledgable about the cosmos and we were lucky to have him as our guide. The night was clear, Saturn and Jupiter made an appearance and even though it was cold, it was a very enjoyable tour. We saw many objects through the telescope and learned a lot. Thanks Angelo and Los Cosmos! We would highly recommend taking this tour if you are on the island of La Palma.
Amazing experience! It was raining below and we were assured it would still be spectacular at the top, and it sure was above all of the clouds. Saw more stars than we ever thought were possible, planets, nebula, galaxies and more. Everything was explained with excitement, passion, and you could tell the years of expertise. Can't wait for the resort to open!
Angelo was very flexible with rescheduling and relocating (bad weather, yes that can happen in January), he is very knowledgeable and gave an amazing tour with lots of detailed explanations on equipment, star constellations etc! Next time we will come for the tour on Roque :)
Our guide was very friendly and shared interesting explanations about the night sky and the observatory. The experience was unforgettable! A must for every visitor and totally worth the cold. Be sure to wear warm clothes, as the temperature can drop close to zero. It can also be quite windy.
We booked a private tour and had a fantastic experience. Angelo is deeply passionate about astronomy—the stars and the universe are truly his element. The organization was excellent, and the communication before the tour was clear and effortless. Angelo answered all of our questions, and we were able to see countless stars and even a large planet. I would absolutely do it again. Thank you for everything!
We had a great tour with Angelo, who was very knowledgeable and introduced us in the world of astronomy. Being able to see stars and olanetes through a telescope was an amazing experience. Recommended!
Unforgettable experience! Angelo is so knowledgeable and his explanations are very interesting! Plenty of time to look at and discuss celestial bodies. Small group so there is no just standing around. Dress warmly and be prepared to be amazed!
We had an amazing private stargazing experience. We saw a lot of beautiful things, with Saturn and its rings as the highlight of the evening. Angelo’s explained everything very clearly. We definitly recommend this excursion.
Unforgettable experience! I’ve left the stargazing tour with much curiosity about our sky and stars. Thank you, Angelo!
The private stargazing tour with Angelo was the highlight of our stay in La Palma. Angelo was very friendly, very knowledgeable and had very good English (for us non native speakers this is always a big plus :)). And the stars were just breathtaking, especially the surprise at the end! Won't tell, you have to try yourself. Highly recommend this to anyone who comes to La Palma.
I had an amazing time on this stargazing tour! The guide, Angelo, was extremely knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights about the night sky in a way that was both engaging and easy to follow. His enthusiasm was contagious, and it made the experience truly special. I left with a deeper appreciation for astronomy. Highly recommended for anyone interested in the stars and the universe!
Our stargazing telescope tour with Angelo at Roque de los Muchachos in La Palma was an excellent experience from start to finish. Angelo gave us clear instructions for meeting. He was friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable. He guided us through the night sky, showing several stars and constellations. We even saw the Comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon, which was a real treat. We were a family of five with three kids (ages 8–12), and Angelo did a great job engaging everyone. He answered the kids’ questions at their level and made astronomy fun and easy to understand. Each object he chose had a scientific story behind it, teaching about basic astronomy like light years, star colors, and the scale of the universe in a clear, enjoyable way. The tour lasted a little over an hour. Be sure to bring warm clothes - it gets cold and windy quickly once the sun sets. If you’re visiting La Palma and want a memorable and educational stargazing experience, we highly recommend Angelo with Los Cosmos. He’s definitely worth it for anyone wanting to explore the night sky around Roque de los Muchachos!
La Palma's sky is like no other and Angelo is a great, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable sky-guide with a knack for explaining mind boggling concepts in a simple way. Much recommend!
The star gazing was amazing. Although we were not there at a good time to see space because of the moon, Angelo found a way to show us very interesting things in the cosmo I can't believe existed. It was cold so bring cold gear include hat and gloves.
We booked a private stargazing experience and it was worth the incremental cost. Just the two of us sharing a telescope and was truly fascinating experience. Angelo was extremely knowledgeable and his whole delivery was interesting and engaging (not nerdy). Would highly recommend for those that know lots and also those that know little about astronomy!
AMAZING!!!!! Angelo is a real friendly and professional tour guide, we had such a NICE time with him. And ofcourse the stargazing was AWESOME! So many things to see like stars , the milkyway, planets , galaxy's and shooting stars! He showed and explained lots of things en the look to Saturn in the telescope was a HUGE WOW! In short..... GO FOR IT!
Heads up; when the guide tells you to pack warm clothes, bring some warm clothes and preferably wind stopping gear and a hat! Angelo have us a lot of information about the telescopes on the mountain top and after that took us through a lot of exciting objects in the night sky. He has vast knowledge of the various things that can be spotted and with a humorous guiding he showed us some marvellous things that you can’t imagine! Angelo is a cool, funny and smart guy, it was great to meet him. Afterwards he also gave us some tips about where to go on La Palma, very neat!
Lots of information on the observatories. Explanation on the telescope, stars, etc. Each star was found within an instant. We had a very good evening on top of mount Muchachos!
Angelo is passionate and gave us many explanations with humor :) The sky was not optimal (persistent presence of the moon and clouds), which left us little to observe, but that is the law of nature. Angelo still managed to make this first stargazing session very interesting. We felt lucky for what we saw :) It made us want to repeat the experience!!☺️
A simply spectacular experience. The night visit to the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory was one of those moments that stay etched in your memory. Contemplating the sky of La Palma, discovering constellations, and observing stars through the telescope was truly fascinating. Special mention to our guide, a fantastic professional who, with her enthusiasm, approachability, and knowledge, made us enjoy this wonderful experience even more. A magical night, in a privileged setting, that I recommend without a doubt. One of those experiences that you have to live at least once in your life!
A very nice experience, it is worth it. The guide was very good, very kind, and gave good explanations. The road to get there was a bit bumpy... but it is worth it!
Pay attention when booking. It says private tour, but it's not. It's a group tour. It also says 'Small group (14 people Max)', but it is possible that the group is larger so you can see less through the telescope.
La Palma is incredible for stargazing. With our guide, the experience was better since we had a good spot; he has a lot of knowledge about the stars (he even won a photography award) and is kind. He is a very attentive guide. There is a bathroom on-site.
An absolutely incredible and highly recommended experience. If you visit La Palma, this tour is an activity you should not miss. Angelo is an exceptional guide. It is noticeable from the first moment that he has enormous knowledge about astronomy, but the best part is his ability to explain concepts that seem complex in a very simple, entertaining, and easy-to-understand way. He conveys his passion in a way that manages to keep you attentive throughout the entire experience. In addition to learning a lot, we enjoyed a spectacular sky and impressive views. Time flew by; in fact, it felt short to us and we would have stayed much longer listening to him and observing the sky. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting La Palma. A 10/10 experience!
A great tour with a very knowledgeable and fun guide Angelo
Incredible starry sky, no light pollution, and clear images of the planets due to the special location and geology of the island. Among the top 3 places in the world to experience the starry sky so clearly and impressively. Our guide is an expert in his field. Highly recommend. Important: dress warmly. It gets cold up there at night!
