Gran Canaria: Sunset And Stargazing Tour - Pickup Or Self Drive

Absolutely amazing and beyond expectations. The whole experience was exceptional. From pick up to drop off. Would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Gran Canaria. I would pack clothes you wouldn’t wear and n GC, warm coat! It did get very cold, but totally worth it. The tour not only blew me away in terms of the stars, it also included the most spectacular drive through the mountains of GC.

What a fantastic tour!! Excellent communication prior to the tour all the way up to pick up. Road trip up to the summit via a stop for the sunset and views across the rugged landscape with mount teide in the distance. On to the summit, Llanos de la Paz, with wonderful views through two medium sized telescopes on a clear moonless evening. Took in the andromeda galaxy, clusters, planetary nebula and lastly spectacular views of Saturn high in the south. Diego was a wealth of knowledge of the night sky and even as a seasoned observer with 50 years experience there were many new facts to absorb. Thoroughly recommend this tour!

I’d say this is definitely worth the money, we got driven over an hour into the mountains, watched the sunset with a glass of wine and learned a lot! Diego was very knowledgable and it was so cool to see the outline of Saturn's rings through a telescope. Be warned they are not kidding when they say it gets cold up there, you definitely need to dress warm, and if you get car sick maybe bring some sickness tablets for the windy mountains. Great experience, thank you!

An absolutely one of a kind experience definitely recommend! We were kept well informed of pick up time and met by our friendly guide Diego. We enjoyed a scenic drive through the mountains and made our first stop to take in jaw dropping views. We then headed to the summit of 2000 metres from sea level to watch an amazing sunset. Even though when we left for the trip it was 26 degrees, at the top it was only 10 so definitely take some warm clothes. We were given blankets and cava to enjoy this spectacular view before heading to our final stop to see the stars. We had chances to see lots of constellations, the Milky Way and Saturn, all the time Diego was telling us lots of interesting facts, the tour was completed with a family photo to capture the event. Highly recommended!

It's hard to imagine a better stargazing tour in Gran Canaria! From the gorgeous sunset cava welcome to the informative explanations. Diego is a knowledgeable and charismatic guide who was able to reveal the magic of the stars despite a bright almost full moon. Very informative and enjoyable. Go for it!

We had an amazing evening under the stars. Charles picked us up from our accommodation he was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the island. The man that gave the tour of the stars was very knowledgeable and the information was delivered in a very relatable way which made the experience even more enjoyable. The sunset stop was spectacular and we were treated to the best sunset we have ever seen. A truly memorable evening. I would highly recommend this tour.

We had an amazing night to remember with Stargazing Gran Canaria. I had wanted to do some kind of excursion that would take us out of the busy resort and into the spectacular mountains of the island on this holiday. We were picked up on time around 6 pm and headed up into the mountains as the sun began to set. This gave us a unique view of the island and scenery without the usual glare of the sun and it was really stunning to see the views at this time of day. We parked up to watch the sunset from a vantage point high up in the mountains and had a glass of Cava (well I think I had three as there was some going spare….). Then we travelled to the highest point on the island (which was very cold and misty). I knew we were not going to be doing any star gazing there and I was correct! We then moved on to a spot with beautiful clear skies full of stars. Our home galaxy, The Milky Way, could be clearly seen and it was quite a stunning sight. Apparently only 10% of the worlds population have ever seen it with their own eyes. Then the brilliant guides set up several telescopes to let us all see many amazing celestial delights. We saw The Ring Nebula, globular clusters, super red giants, binary stars and my personal favourite the beautiful planet Saturn. You could clearly see the planets famous rings and also several of its own moons. The trip was really great value for money we arrived back at our hotel drop off point around 10.30 pm. We'll definitely go on one of these trips again and hopefully catch some other planets. The guides were very friendly and very knowledgeable and clearly enjoy their work. We went up into the mountains in a people carrier with two other couples – so not a big group and we met up with another group of the same size, so there was plenty of time for everyone to use the telescopes on the chosen targets. If you go - do heed the warnings about dressing suitabley - it really is very cold up there so no shorts!

We had an absolutely unforgettable stargazing experience in Gran Canaria! We watched the sunset at Pico de las Nieves, above the clouds and it was hands down the most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen. The view was breathtaking and something I’ll never forget. Our guide, Diego, was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about astronomy, and he explained the constellations in such an interesting way, sharing fascinating facts, stories and history behind them. You could really tell he loves what he does, and that made the whole experience even more special. Another lovely touch was the complimentary photo of us with the stars, which is such a beautiful memory to take home. I couldn’t recommend this experience enough if you’re visiting Gran Canaria. The sunset alone was worth it, but the stargazing and Diego’s explanations made it truly special. Thank you, Diego, for such an incredible evening! 🌌

We had a fantastic experience! It was a bit of a drive to reach the ideal location, but we made a couple of stops along the way to take in the beautiful scenery and enjoy a fantastic sunset. Our guide, Diego, was extremely knowledgeable, not only sharing the history of the local villages we passed along the route but also demonstrating his incredible knowledge of the cosmos. He showed us some amazing sights, both with the naked eye and through his advanced telescopic equipment. Seeing the wonders of the night sky up close made the whole experience even more special. It’s definitely worth booking if you have an interest in astronomy or simply want to experience something a little different. Highly recommended!

It wasnt worth the money as due to weather we couldn't see the sunset and the juice offered were supermarket juice boxes though the guide did offer more than 1 each. Also the stargazing. We could see the moon amazingly which was great and the star constellations explanation was great but couldn't see the nebula and Saturn was tiny so maybe telescope wasnt zoomed in enough. And thats all we saw. So was an experience but not worth more than 50 each. The driver Diego was great at pick up and very explanatory and very knowledgeable and excellent driver as the drive up the mountains was dangerous.

Picked us up from our hotel on time and was a wonderful drive to the first vantage point- spectacular views. Our guide was fantastic. Very informative and friendly. Definitely recommend for an evening of wonder and amazement. Take warm clothes as the top of the mountain is COLD.

Fantastic tour beginning with an unforgettable ascend to the scenic mountainous region of Gran Canaria. Stopping at a view point to refreshments then onto the main high altitude point whilst the darkness closes in. Diego is the perfect host with incredible knowledge of the night sky, and a very safe driver. Be prepared to be mind blown!

What an amazing experience it was.. I have booked this for our trip in Gran Canaria where we stayed for the holiday. I have not a lot of experience or knowledge when it comes to stargazing it was my first ever trip.. and I have absolute loved it, Diego is so knowledgeable and have excellent communication skills as well as very funny.. I have learned so much from this trip. He was so happy throughout the trip explaining the history throughout the drive we had.. as well as the sunset was breathtaking. One of my best money spent for sure. Will definitely be back for more any time in there for my holidays. We had a great evening, the sunset spot was fantastic with a lovely touch of cava or juice to watch the sun go down. We the headed to the stargazing spot. Our guide Diego had so much knowledge of the stars and it was fascinating to listen. We not only looked through telescopes but also we were shown images from the camera. The photo under that stars topped off a great evening. It’s worth noting that you are in the mountains with no toilets but there are plenty of Bush’s and forest.

The excursion began at sunset with a spectacular view, and went smoothly. The guide was excellent at engaging everyone and explaining astronomical facts and curiosities. The experience leaves you filled with awe and wonder, perhaps even teaching you something new. The equipment used was excellent.

We done this experience last night. Myself and my ten year old niece. We used the transfers from the hotel. We got a WhatsApp around midday with a specific time for pick up, the driver was there promptly. Only 8 guests in each transfer so not too many drop offs and pick ups. Spectacular views for the sunset while enjoying a glass of cava. The guides also had blankets which they kindly leant to my niece as she was cold. The next stop for the star gazing wasn’t too much further away, that was really interesting too. The guides were knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Transfer home just as easy. Thanks for a great evening, highly recommend!

I highly recommend this experience in the mountains of Gran Canaria. amazing views from the sunset spot, a lot of knowledge and information from the get go and beautiful photos under the milky way. Don't hesitate and book this tour for a unique experience under the stars!

Before I share this review let me start by saying I tried to resolve our concerns privately with the tour guide, who unfortunately has been quite dismissive. A group of four of us were travelling at a cost of 260 euros. Much was promised by the tour operators... unfortunately they fell short. The minibus we travelled on lacked air-conditioning- it was there but not brilliant. Our first stop was to watch the sunset but this was a public area-be warned it was way overcrowded. If I was charging guests I would have looked for a less crowded area. We then set off to engage in a "dark sky" night of stargazing . The light pollution in the chosen area resulted in this not being possible. During the time spent we were disrupted twice by the police/rangers with glaring headlights, and things that slow down night vision-bright lights and phone screens: A quick flash of white light or looking at a bright phone destroys your built-up rhodopsin, resetting your timer by around 30 mins. I'm sure the tour guide didn't have the permission to be there as we were moved on. We were promised a "professional" picture. The picture provided was blurred and no sign of the milky way . Really disappointed . Ive been Star gazing in Tenerife and wow that was an experience. So in conclusion what would I say . Keep your hard earned cash and drive up there yourself ignore the promises, they can't be fulfilled. See picture for yourself no milky way and very low quality...

I went on this trip with my daughter whilst on holiday here and we had an amazing time! The drive through the mountains up to the summit was breathtaking and the sunsets views were stunning. Diego was a book of knowledge and a fantastic tour guide, we were absolutely blown away by the information he provided us with about the stars, planets, constellations and so much more surrounding our night sky. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone the slightest bit interested in space and exploring more of Gran Canaria as it was an experience we will never forget. The pictures really don’t do this trip justice as the views felt so surreal. Thank you to Diego for making this trip so special and shoutout to your brilliant music playlist during the car journey, it was definitely very fitting and topped the whole experience off!

The tour went smoothly from start to finish. We chose the pickup option, and our driver showed up on time at our location. The sunset stop was amazing, and the stargazing was fantastic. We would definitely recommend to anyone who has even a remote interest in astronomy. The driver, Mike, and the tour guide Diego are both knowledgeable and friendly.

Our tour guide, Diego, was very knowledgeable of all the stars and pkaces to go to get the best views of the sunset and a good laugh too which helps. The views of both the sunset and the stars gazing were brilliant. 10/10 Would recommend a jacket and warm trousers like joggers, as they advise too. If you get travel sickness, I wouldn't recommend as it's about 1 1/2 - 2 hour drive through twisting roads. But, that was a great experience too, nice drive through the mountain range.
