Highly recommend this trip with Sky Rebels. Knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining local guides who are passionate about Gran Canaria. Well organized small group experience. We are pleased we chose this trip.
Book this. No regrets! Juan and Ines will give you so many surprises and if you've never explored inland gran canaria you'll be overwhelmed with the beauty and the culture
The ultimate off the beaten path experience. Disclaimer: if you don't have reasonable fitness and agility it will be hard to enjoy this. We're in our mid 70's and found it challenging (in a positive way), but doable. Inez and Jaun are energetic, enthusiastic, creative, knowledgeable. Within minutes of our pickup we knew we were in for a special day. To provide much more information would be a spoiler alert so will just attach a few pix to give a hint or two.
We are a mobile couple in our 70s and Ines & Juanjo made us very welcome and looked after us admirably all day. Juanjo was a safe driver navigating some narrow roads as we climbed. They were both very knowledgeable about Gran Canaria’s history of the island going back to the cave dwellers and how they lived. We visited an information centre detailing the lives of the cave dwellers and how the Europeans conquered the island and what came next. We visited the villages of Fataga & Tejeda, the latter being voted the prettiest in Spain, which it certainly is. There’s a wonderful shop selling lots of almond products made from the trees that abound in this area. We drove up to the highest point on the island with the most spectacular views which feels like the top of the world. We stopped at a picnic site and Ines produced some very tasty homemade tapas, wine and water and a digestive of honey rum which was delicious. We were only 4 on the trip so the minibus was very comfortable and all in all a very enjoyable day and well worth booking.
I recommend it to everyone! We were at the time of the kalima winds. But would love to be there again during clear visibility. Great views! Lupita, Juanjo and Inés thank you very much for the time together!
Juanjo and Ines are a great couple: - intelligent - carying - having a profound knowledge of her country - are phantastic organizer - show you great things, „hidden gems“, away from the tourist mass - honest - full of fantasy - good driver - provide a lovely home made lunch for you I felt in love with the tour and can not wate to make the next one with the sky rebels ( maybe a bit a missleeding title of the“ 2 man company“…)
Second time with Juanjo and Ines after a tour with them back in 2019. Last time was great, this time was even better! They are an amazing pair who make you feel like one of their family. They are so knowledgable and informative. Ines is a fantastic cook making lunch an absolute highlight. Juanjo ask drives brilliantly on roads you would not want to drive yourself. We did the UNESCO heritage tour and would 100% recommend it - so interesting visiting a range of historic and current cave dwellings against the backdrop of the incredible Gran Canaria scenery. We were a multi generational family ranging from our 12 year old daughter to her grandparents in their 70s. All of us were completely engaged by the day. And physically it was not too challenging. (And if you have issues with heights do trust Ines that it’s not as bad as it looks at the Fortress and persevere - it’s not as bad as it looks.)
We recently completed this tour of Gran Canaria with Sky Rebels and cannot rate it highly enough. You may think it is a little expensive but, trust me, it really isn’t. You will have a maximum of six people and three guides. Juanjo who is an excellent driver, Inez an excellent guide and Lupita who is, well……Lupita! You will drive on roads that are not usually accessible by larger vehicles, the scenery is mind blowingly spectacular but you are completely safe in the expert hands of Juanjo. What makes this tour special and different to the others is not only the areas visited but also the fabulous history and myths that you will learn. Most are, undoubtedly, true and some you will wish were true! Juan and Inez will introduce you to some of the ancient Gods of Gran Canaria, you will appeal to the sun god Magec and, who knows, some magic may happen! Last, but not least, you will enjoy a delicious lunch in the open air of Canarian specialities prepared with love by Inez and accompanied by your choice of beverages. Juan and Inez (and Lupita!) are not only the nicest people you could hope to meet but are also local Canarians whose love and enthusiasm for their islands shines through.
We were collected in Puerto de Mogan for an all day tour of the Sacred Mountains. We were driven in comfort and felt very safe driven by Juanjo and ‘Lupita’. A wonderful homemade lunch prepared by Inés was provided. This couple delivered a fun day combining the perfect balance of information, humour and rest breaks. On a somewhat cloudy day our guides used their local knowledge to give us the best route on the day. They are passionate about sharing their knowledge with visitors and our remaining time in Gran Canaria has been enhanced by our day with them. We look forward to future trips and recommend highly.
We booked the Unesco tour of one day. What a great experience! Juanjo and Inés are wonderful people, fun, caring and they have such a great knowledge that they want to share with you. You discover the canarian history, culture and important facts. You go to places no other tours or public go. And ofcourse there is Lupita, a fun personal touch for the kids. For lunch we had a homemade picknick (made by Inés with love, excellent chef) with local ingrediënts and fruits, all traditional food. We were so amazed by the tour and this lovely people that we immediately booked another tour, the Barranco de las vacas. Then we visited the Salinas and also a real cave. There we enjoyed a magnificent view and some local food (once again thanks to the chef) during a rest inside the cave. Again an unforgettable experience. If you are looking for the perfect local guides who are passionated in what they do, Juanjo and Inés are just perfect! We had an unforgettable experience!
Sky Rebels offered a private day trip which included a delightful homemade meal to go with the days exploration. The tour includes several notable vistas and museums to go along with the exploration of key sites. Ines and Juanjo are the couple who drive and guide the tours. Not only are they incredibly knowledgeable about their home island and its history but they provide plenty of laughs and entertainment along the way especially with their surprise guest Lupita who provided a cheeky commentary.
If you are looking for a perfect gift for someone visiting Gran Canaria, then book them a tour with Sky Rebels! My parents had an amazing time on their UNESCO heritage tour! The personal touch, the non-commercial approach, the passion and dedication of the two tour hosts were what made the day even more special, along the sites and places visited. Thank you, Sky Rebels and see you again!!
Wow! Fantastic tour. Just what we were hoping for. Small group, very professional. You can see they are Passionete about the history of Grand Canaria. Not just a tour, they bring the extra service and entertainment! And show you some amazing ereas. Highly recommended to everyone. Thanks for a great dat Ines and Juanjo. Greetings Jamie
This is the second activity we have done with Ines and Juan and certainly will not be the last! They are such lovely people who are clearly passionate about the island where they live and this comes across during the tour. You get to see another side to Gran Canaria and learn about its history, legends and battles. They put so much thought into the planning of the day and it's full of fun from the moment they pick you up at your hotel to when they drop you off. Lunch is provided and it's all local produce and home made ( and very very tasty) Thank you for an amazing day and for an unforgettable anniversary. We look forward to seeing you both again when we are next here.
How to describe Ines, Juan and Lupita. Amazing. There love for this beautiful country is obvious from the moment you are picked up. I am not going to describe what we saw as this really would spoil it. All I shall say is be prepared to see sites that are simply out of this world. The stories, the legends and ultimately the sadness are told in great detail. You simply fall in love with this island. 5 stars is not enough.
My friend has booked the tour for World Heritage Sacred Mountain, and I had no idea what I was expecting and I had to say. It was an amazing experience. The scenery was out of this world. Ines and Juan who was our tour guide had the whole thing planned so well and they were so entertaining. They made the experience so much better. Ines was so knowledgeable, she had answers to all questions we have about Gran Canaria. Would definitely recommend 10/10.
Fantastic tour guides who are very knowledgeable and fun. Their home made lunch was great as well. The only point off is the roads are extremely windy and long. We were quite ill and tired by the end being stuck in a van. Not sure how to remedy this, and shorten the trip?
This is such a wonderful tour run by Juanjo and Ines (& Lopita) and we recommend it 100%! We arranged to be collected from our hotel in San Agustin at 9am - a spacious and comfortable van with air conditioning. Seats are arranged in two rows of 3. En route, we were given an enthusiastic talk about the history and archeology of Gran Canaria - so much detail and love for this gorgeous island. We were treated to great music, informative videos and stories of legends! We were back around 6pm. The roads are incredible - hairpin bends winding up steep mountains rewarding us with stunning views of ancient volcanoes, rock formations and scenery which could be dry and relatively barren to forested and farmed, (depending on whether we were North or South). Well done, Juanjo for your skilful driving, not made any easier by the numbers of cyclists you had to negotiate too! We stopped at little museums overlooking breathtaking valleys, cave houses, viewpoints and then there was a small feast ALL made by Ines - absolutely delicious Canarian treats, washed down with a choice of water, soft drinks, beer or wine and something special from the Magic Backpack! After lunch and more beautiful sites, we had a coffee stop then to the amazing fortress and ancient caves with remnants of carvings and symbols. Spectacular views. This was the final point on our journey where the Magic Backpack rewarded us with one more treat to end a superb day. Thank you for a brilliant day! If you want an intimate tour of GC run by a couple who ooze love and passion for this incredible island, then BOOK THIS TOUR!
We had an amazing day. We saw so much, and were entertained and informed from start to finish. Ines and Juanjo are knowledgeable and passionate about Gran Canaria, and we really enjoyed finding out its history, geography and culture. Lovely picnic lunch in the forest, too: all homemade and delicious. If you do only one trip when you're on holiday in GC, make it this one!
Very interesting and informative tour of many of the islands sights. The route had be re-planned to take in the festival at Tadeja, which was interesting, and no commercial pressure to buy stuff - just happy to sample genuine local produce. We did see tour the UNESCO site, and the most illuminating experience was a visit to caves where once thrived the Stone Age aborigine people of Gran Canaria. The knowledge & enthusiasm of the guides brought it all to life. Not forgetting a marvellous BBQ lunch, and a well needed coffee stop later, it made for a very satisfying day. The van was comfortable, the driving felt safe (despite some treacherous roads) and it was all presented in a friendly and humorous style. Great day out.
Totally different from a normal type of Gran Canarian tour, max groups of six, very well run by Juan and Ines, entertaining and educational insight into Canarian history with a real passion for the subject. Excellent picnic was one of many delights to be had up in the mountains. Best tour we did in Gran Canary by a distance, cannot recommend enough.
This tour was the best tour we have ever been on. We have been on group tours in many tropical and vacation places but I’ve never been more satisfied and enlightened. Our guides, Juan and Inez, were amazing. It was personal and they truly took pride in showing us the island including local, non tourist places. If that wasn’t enough, the lunch included was a home prepared local fare that was delicious. They gave us loads of ideas on what to do and where to eat for the rest of our days on the island while constantly surprising us with stop after stop and their magic backpack (go on the tour and you’ll understand). I’ve only been on the island for two days and I am so happy we chose this place thanks to them. If you are going to Gran Canaria you must make a day for this tour!!!!
Fantastic day with Inez & Juan both of whom put everything into it entertaining us throughout the day. Very informative tour with great scenery and lots of interesting facts about the original inhabitants of Gran Canaria. Particularly interesting was the trip to the fortress where the aborigines made their last stand . It appears to be seldom visited by tourists and the atmosphere was magical .
We have been to Gran Canaria 5 times and this time we wanted to do something different so decided after looking at a few different tours to book this tour, we liked the idea of it being more personal and not packed with people . We were not disappointed our hosts were the best, friendly welcoming and full of information. We learnt quite alot about the island aswell as visiting some amazing places with beautiful views and interesting facts . They made us a beautiful picnic with fantastic canarian food we couldn't of asked for more . We cannot recommend this tour more. We are looking forward to taking one of their other tours next year when we return .We had a lovely day
We loved everything. The winding roads in the hands of Juanjo (the best driver!). The fascinating stories they told us. The village of Tejeda is beautiful! And the food that Agnes prepared for us, a delight. Everything was perfect!! Again: Thanks for everything.
Necessary excursion to fully understand the origin and culture of Gran Canaria. We have been visiting the island for 20 years, and now is when we have realized its cultural scope. Everything wonderful thanks to the knowledge and professionalism of Inés and Juanjo.....we will always remember it......and we hope to continue getting to know this wonderful Island.....with Sky Rebels.
The highest village in Gran Canaria is characterized by a variety of flowers and is very well maintained. There are two free museums, some with very friendly explanations. The place is neatly decorated, the attractions such as several miradores are well signposted, and public toilets are a matter of course. There are plenty of parking spaces and you can take beautiful walks with a view of the numerous cave dwellings.
I have highlighted the two day trips with Sky Rebels, both complement each other perfectly, one focused on the nature of the island and one on the history of the island, without overlap in the areas visited. Both excursions highly recommended
Fantastic day to discover the beauties of the island. Inés and Juanjo are prepared, professional and very nice. If you visit Gran Canaria you can not do without this activity...especially discover the three great secrets of the island!
DE: Some time ago we were in Gran Canaria and was flying with Juan and Ines and their paratrike across the island . That was very impressive. So we thought that this island tour would also be something special. But our expectations were exceeded. Juan and Ines has designed a perfect day. Pick-up, entertainment on the tour, interesting information about the island and the history of the indigenous people, very lovingly prepared food and a wonderful picnic in the mountains. Great views and exciting places were shown to us. We can absolutely recommend this tour. We'll be back and look forward to the next time. Eva and Ingmar DE: Some time ago we were already in Gran Canaria we followed Juan and Ines and their paratrike across the island. That was very impressive. So we already thought that this island tour would be something special. But our expectations were exceeded. Juan and Ines we made a perfect day for ourselves. Pick up, entertainment on the tour, interesting information about the island and the history of the indigenous people, very lovingly prepared food and a beautiful picnic in the mountains. Great views and exciting places were shown to us. We can absolutely recommend this tour. We will come back and look forward to a next time. Eva and Ingmar
Excellent choice to know the interior part of the island, its nature and history. Very pleasant explanations of Ines and Juanjo and everything very well organized. The excursion is even short, it works like clockwork. ; we went with an 8-year-old boy and they knew how to adapt the activities to the pace of our son. Spectacular recipe for Juanjo's grandfather's mojo. We have a great memory especially of "Lupita"
After we had already done a tour with Juan and Ines, we booked the second tour they offered in 3 days and took a friend with us. There were five of us with another two Americans. Like the first tour, everything was perfectly thought out and with a lot of charm and wit we were able to immerse ourselves in the history of Gran Canaria. I was especially looking for a tour that doesn't take at least 20 participants to 1 sales event and you spend over an hour on a boring Alovera farm where it's all about selling. No, here they have the Gran Canaria experience. In the van you will go on a very personal tour with only a maximum of 6 participants. I can only say absolutely top and don't want to reveal too much because the tour is full of surprises. As soon as there is another tour we are back. Thanks to Juan and Ines for the perfect day and an unforgettable experience.
Very good guidance and support. We felt warmly welcomed. A very nice route not to be missed.
Juan and Inés are proud of their island and radiate that. We had a very educational, but above all a nice day. On time a snack and drink, beautiful views and a lot of fun and interesting stories. Highly recommended
