Itinerary
Step aboard our comfortable Rodman 1100, a spacious boat that’s been thoughtfully converted into a hybrid vessel powered by two electric engines. This quiet, low-impact technology allows for a peaceful and eco-friendly experience at sea—ideal for observing marine life in a respectful way. The minimal noise often encourages dolphins to approach the boat naturally, creating authentic and stress-free encounters. Throughout the tour, you’ll have the opportunity to spot several fascinating species in their natural habitat, including bottlenose dolphins, Atlantic spotted dolphins, common dolphins, Risso’s dolphins, striped dolphins, and short-finned pilot whales. Our experienced team—skipper Víctor and marine biologist Paula—will guide you through the journey, sharing valuable insights about the behaviour, biology, and conservation of the animals we encounter. With live interpretation from a marine biologist, the tour becomes more than just sightseeing—it’s a learning experience.

Reviews
Overall, it was a very comfortable and enjoyable boat trip, with attentive and thoughtful service throughout the experience. It was a little unfortunate that, due to our limited time, we didn’t get to see dolphins, but we still had a great time. We would definitely come back again and look forward to joining a longer trip out at sea next time!
We recommend this trip, even if we were very unlucky: We went on this trip twice in 2 weeks. The first time there was to much wind and the waves where to high, so we turned back very early. Got to reschedule for a different day free of extra charge. The second time, the sea and wind was calmer, but we didn't see any animals/fish besides birds and flying fish. Still giving this a 5 star review, because the marine biologist knows a lot and the captain made us feel safe, and they do good work with great respect for the ocean and it's inhabitants!
We were unfortunate to set out to sea on a very windy day with the accompanying sea swell. But we could not fault skipper Victor and Marine Biologist Maria, for their efforts. They looked after us well. We were then offerred a complimentary trip 2 days later which we could attend. Despite the calm seas at the start it again turned windy. Yet again we were unsuccesful in seeing whales! But bizarrely this did not fully impact the review, as they again, worked hard to try and find the dolphins and whales. We were so impressed how they tried to do their bit in cleaning up the sea and picking up any plastic they came across on route. We did come across turtles and flying fish so not a totally wasted day.
Amazing experience, kind staff. They were informative, but not pushy. We saw a lot of dolphins, and the boat was terrific.
Lovely way to spend a morning, crew were friendly and helpful, one was a marine biologist. We saw a pod of pilot whales with a few bottlenose dolphins - very close, could hear them breathing and see them spouting through their blowholes. The crew was very respectful of the whales - located them, turned off the engine nearby and let the whales come to the boat, and then leave when they wanted to.
Staff very friendly but spent three hours sailing through choppy water and saw nothing. Partner felt sea sick for the last hour so not a great experience. The experience is coming with nature and there are no guarantees so just a bad day at the office.
We booked the dolphin observation tour with a group of 5 people. With only 4 more people on the boat, only 9 guests were there which was very nice on the small boat. The two people guiding the tour were very friendly and helpful with any questions. Beer, water, juice, and a full plate of snacks (grapes, cookies) were provided for free on the tour. We saw a lot of flying fish. When almost the complete 3 hours of the tour passed, we did not see any dolphins or whales yet. However, the captain got a message that dolphins were spotted somewhere close to the island. We went all the way to that place which took us around 1 hour extra but we saw striped dolphins in the end. It was very nice of them to extend the duration of the trip to be able to show us dolphins. I would highly recommend the slightly higher price for this nice experience with a small group over the boats that are stacked with 200 people that we saw during our trip.
Very good experience, perfect and pleasant treatment, highly recommended, we were able to see dolphins, turtles, and varieties of fish, they care about not disturbing the animals by stopping the engine when they are nearby, I liked that when they saw trash they took out the net to pick it up, a ten.
I had booked this tour alone and booked it primarily because of the ecological aspect. The two tour guides were truly incredibly nice people and you could move freely around the whole boat (even up to the top, where Viktor was steering the boat). In addition, drinks (limited beer, water, apple juice) were available around the clock. You were also told a lot about the possible sightings. Unfortunately, I was unlucky yesterday and, apart from a turtle and flying fish, you couldn't see anything. Only a ray that was being fed by fishermen in the harbor could be seen. Despite everything, it was a wonderful experience. However, it must be mentioned that this experience is frequently booked by couples and, especially in September, there are many older people on Gran Canaria. Furthermore, there is quite a strong swell out on the sea, especially at midday.
Great experience. We saw some dolphins. The marine biologist told us a lot about the different animal species. There were snacks and drinks. It was simply great and I would recommend it to everyone.
It was an unforgettably beautiful experience. We were able to see and experience dozens of dolphins up close. The additional knowledge that the marine biologist shared with us was super. Anyone who books this tour gets a lot for their money. We really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere in the small group of only 8 passengers.
Booked a tour on Friday. Nice team and very educational! Unfortunately, we had no luck and didn't see anything! Received a discount for the next tour. 1 week later, we were successful! Food and drinks are included and delicious. I will definitely come back when I am there!
Magnificent experience, very kind guides. It was very good to have a cetologist who explains and answers questions. A true observation, and not a tourist tour that disturbs the animals, like most of the other excursions offered.
Pleasant and perfect groups size
Very nice excursion! Expert and friendly explanation from marine biologist. WeWhale respects life in the ocean. They are a breath of fresh air between all the other providers who put the commercial first. We had a lovely morning and saw a lot of dolphins who continued to follow our boat. The animals were approached with care and were not disturbed by the silent boat. Small tip: those who get seasick quickly should prepare and take something from medication beforehand. On this relatively small boat you can feel every wave.
With Monika our biologist and Victor our skipper we were well looked after. After a short time, leaving the coast behind, we discovered a larger school of striped dolphins with their babies. To everyone's delight. A little later, Atlantic spotted dolphins joined the boat and fascinated with their fun maneuvers. When the group turned away from us after some time, we continued to search the open sea. Monika explained to us what signs she uses to sight dolphin schools or whales. We were very lucky today, because a short time later pilot whales frolicked in the distance and came closer. We heard her breath through the blowout hole. Really impressive. And then our skipper could spot another Bryde whale at a greater distance. But for us guests on board, the big whale unfortunately no longer showed. All in all, a really great and informative experience. Luckily the sea was calm. Even if it has already rocked a few kilometers out. The tour with WeWhale is recommended in our opinion.
It was something of the finest I have experienced. We were able to park by car directly at the pier. The two crew were very competent and fulfilled all our wishes. We've seen different dolphin schools. I would set sail again with the organizer:)
Very long drive in unsettled seas until after about 2.5 h we could briefly observe a few dolphins, from a distance. Every participant:in should be aware that the ride can be rough and you should hold on well!!
This was not our first Dolphin tour, but our first successful one! So far, no matter what country, we have always had bad luck and this time it did not look good again. But the crew was willing to wait a little longer than agreed (thanks for that!) and then actually came a huge school with about 30 animals! Thanks to hybrid drive, you not only saw it, but you even heard it! That's great! During the trip, garbage floating by was also fished out of the sea, but there are 3 extra points! Thanks again!
A nice team and what a silence when the hybrid engine is started in the open sea. I recommend
With animals to observe this would have been nice. It’s the game! The staff and the captain at the top. Very pleasant walk. Thanks, Victor.
We had a lovely boat trip. Unfortunately, we didn't see any dolphins or whales, just flying fish. Regardless (such are the whims of nature) it was a nice tour and the crew was very nice. Initially, a bit about the animals found in the sea was explained. But since we didn't see anything on the tour, nothing was really explained during it. We were hoping for something more. In the end, it wasn’t great what was said about not seeing anything on the tour. The boat is the perfect size for the maximum 8 people, there is also a toilet. Unfortunately, the engine sometimes stinks quite badly, which surprised us with a hybrid boat. It is advisable to pack long clothes, as it is sometimes extremely windy and can also get cold quickly without sun.
A really good experience. Lovely boat, cute and welcoming staff - got told about the marine life and were so super lucky to see striped dolphins on the trip. A really nice day at sea
It was amazing! I greatly appreciated the fact that we were in a small group, it makes the experience more personal and enjoyable. Thanks again for the photo, nice souvenir in addition to the observation
There were only four of us + Paula and Victor. It was therefore very relaxed. We were able to observe a group of pilot whales, a sea turtle and a small ray. Even if the dolphin sighting did not happen, it was a very nice experience with calm atmosphere, very nice crew, free drinks and delicious fruit. Paula and Victor are very accommodating, communicative and you can tell they care about these tours. If there was a sighting of garbage in the sea, they would take it out. Overall a super nice tour Only recommended. Better pay a little more and have a nice experience than stressing the animals on overcrowded boats.
Victor (captain) and Paula (marine biologist), Dream Team, we liked superbly, never seen so many dolphins in a school, boat is top and part of the proceeds are also donated to wewhale non profit organization for research and better handling of nature, the sea and its inhabitants. Very happy again, top!!!
It was wonderful! Perfect! We saw dolphins, but not because of luck, but because both the captain and Paula, the biologist, are experts and have very good knowledge of it. I felt super safe at all times, and I really enjoyed it. Tip: take biodramine before you go out and don’t eat much before, you go out into the open sea and that is rating 🤗 We would repeat 🐬🤍
A wonderful experience!!! We managed to see the dolphins and some turtles They explained us about nature and they attended us wonderfully. The guides were amazing and my professionals. 100% RECOMMENDED ❤️
We did the sunset trip: super friendly crew, with max 8 passengers on the boat which feels wonderful no commercial hassle but (h)fair trip The boat sails a long way out to sea and when animals are spotted it continues on a silent hybrid engine so they are not disturbed We were lucky enough to see dolphins and whale and in the return trip a beautiful sunset !! We really enjoyed it! But the trip is not recommended if you suffer from seasickness : lots of waves and the boat is often floating to observe the animals (which we loved, by the way)
It was a nice family morning. After searching for a while we have finally seen many dolphins in their habitat.
Fantastic trip. A unique emotion to feel the peace of the dolphins in freedom. The captain and his assistant are lovely people.
Unfortunately no dolphins and whales seen, but a lot of flying fish, mahi mahi and beautiful birds. The explanation, guidance and trip was good, friendly and quite knowledgeable. On board there was plenty of food and drink and you only had to ask for it. All in all a good experience
The boat tour was very nice, the view very great. Unfortunately, we couldn't see any dolphins. It probably screwed/corrugated too much during our trip. On the small boat we suddenly became nauseous & we had to vomit. The biologist & the skipper looked great at us. They explained everything about the animals & drove with hybrid. Luckily, we saw a huge ray at the port & fish jumping out of the water on the drive as well as many large birds. Despite the circumstances, we liked the tour. Thank you!
We were lucky enough to go out alone with Victor and Paula. Outside, the boat was accompanied by two large dolphin families. We were able to observe many acrobatic jumps and took home many valuable impressions. We have deliberately chosen an offer for small groups - and that is worth it.
It was very well taken care of all travelers and explained everything you wanted to know. Of course, this is only possible in such a small group.
