A well established boat trip who have clearly responded to previous reviews. Booked online with Tripadvisor check in was organised and staff were clearly trying to direct people to the right queues. Check in was swift and efficient. Clean and well presented boat with instructions for travel given in multiple languages. A good range of soft drinks included in the price with an option to upgrade. A nice scenic trip from Puerto Rico with incredible sight of flying fish. Unfortunately that’s about all we saw. Appreciated we were looking to view wild animals but with an advertised 97% success rate we were in the 3%. 😔 Luckily we caught a glimpse of a turtle but very view on the boat would have seen this. We were given a free return within 12 months of the date which unfortunately we could not use before returning to the UK. Do your research about the time of year and hence manage your expectations on what you see. A pleasant trip but do not take it as a guarantee you will see whales or dolphins.

Itinerary
We sailed for two and a half hours in the southwest of the island looking for cetaceans for observation. A boat specifically designed for the sighting of these formidable marine mammals, with perfect visibility for passengers, including underwater viewing windows. Captain Ivan Lopez, a certified cetacean watching professional, has been captaining our ship Spirit of the Sea for 15 years, always showing deep respect for these animals, their natural habitat and habits. During the excursion, passengers receive all kinds of details about the animals we encounter, as well as their habits of living, feeding, mating, etc. Customers also have a QR code with additional information about each type of dolphin or whale that sails through the Canary Islands. Our crew consists of professionals with knowledge of the history and environment of cetaceans. Sighting Guarantee: If we are not lucky enough to spot cetaceans during the excursion, we give the customer a bonus directly so that they can enjoy the experience for free whenever they want (valid for one year).

Great tour, great grew. Very Family friendly. Waves can be high, make sure you are not getting sea sick easily or bring some medication. ;)
We went on October 15, 2026. We saw absolutely nothing, save for a few flying fish. Our trip was at 1:30 PM—a group had already gone out earlier—and I suspect the captain knew full well there were no dolphins around, yet he still took people out just to have them spend two hours drifting across the ocean. Of course, I realize there’s never a 100% guarantee of seeing anything, but I suspect the crew knows the chance is well under 10%, which I find somewhat deceptive. In theory, you’re allowed to go a second time, but we weren’t given any tickets or vouchers, so I have no idea how they would verify who is entitled to a return trip as compensation. Overall, I do not recommend it. It’s a waste of money.
Nice but I didn’t know we were supposed to see whales as well
Great weather with a great experience seeing dolphin pods in their natural environment. Staff all very helpful onboard.
Had to take 2 trips then saw 6 dolphins. The 2nd trip was FOC. Best time to go is in the morning.
The whole experience was awesome from start to finish! The crew was lovely and helpful, working with and communicating with other boats to ensure that we had the best experience possible. After a while and with the help of another boat, we saw loads of dolphins!! We also saw plenty of flying fish. The soft drinks on board were very welcomed as it was a very hot day. The tour took about 2.5 hours and was well worth the fee. Thanks again for an amazing trip.
From start to finish the day was well organised. Tour bus pick up straight to port. Boat was half an hour late due to previous tour however our tour should have been only 2 hours and lasted 3 and 3/4 hours. Complimentary soft drinks and water throughout and we saw a lot of dolphins . Dropped back to our base afterwards Well worth the money.
Only boat I ever had sickness on. Most passengers were vomiting. Crew were useless. Worst though was that the drop off driver left me on bus til last. Miles away from anywhere decided to go on to another job and put me off in the middle of nowhere next to a bus stop and said you find your own way, I have to be at airport in 15 minutes. Took me two and a half hours to find my way back to the hotel by which time it was dark and I was terrified. Disgusting to drop a lone female (elderly) in a strange area and abandon like that. Will never forget the experience. Boycott these for me please. I was extremely vulnerable and he put my safety at risk. Thank you
I would repeat it without a doubt.
Coach driver rude over booked. Boat seen better days seats broken. Staff was lovely saw two dolphines but boat was over crowded. Could go for swim if want to.
I was with my husband. The boat drive very fast through waves, so boat was jumping up and down, from side to side. If you are not good with vestibular, it’s not for you. I was more annoyed about people, whose who think that they are better then others, because, we were sitting at the front, but because of the waves I couldn’t stand on the boat, to come closer to see dolphins ( I am pregnant) I was very careful. One family with friends just stand all in front of us on the boat, and totally took out the view of the dolphins. That was pretty sad. We could see a just little bit. Some people were seaseak, feeling quite bad. I was very concentrating on not to throw up. Despite people, the crew were very good, offered help. I was very happy then the trip has finished 🤪. Video from my husband’s phone, I couldn’t caught anything,
The staff on this trip were friendly and helpful. However, many of the passengers on board including myself and my girlfriend felt terribly seasick due to the rough/choppy ocean/small boat. If you are prone to motion sickness, this is not a suitable experience for you at all. I had taken anti-motion sickness tablets before hand also and it did not help. I found myself hoping for the trip to end as I fought off nausea and sickness. Staff did hand out sick bags to help though. Added to this we didn't see anything on our trip in the way of dolphins, whales, wildlife, etc. This obviously can't be helped but only added to the poor experience. We were offered a return voucher due to the lack of sightings but turned this down due to the severe sea sickness we experienced. If you are prone to motion sickness do not go on this excursion, trust me. My girlfriend also doesn't really experience motion sickness, but was quite ill on this trip, so even if you don't experience motion sickness, consider carefully whether you can deal with a very rough journey and possibly have nothing to show for it.
We absolutely loved Spirit of the Seas! 🐬 We went not expecting to see much, so we were completely blown away by the most fantastic display of dolphins, along with a couple of turtles — memories we’ll treasure for a lifetime! ❤️ Being collected near our accommodation made everything so easy from start to finish, and we even had the option to head for a swim just before coming back.An amazing experience that we would highly recommend! 🌊🐢🐬
Horrible experience from start to finish—avoid this trip! We booked a dolphin-watching trip expecting a smooth and enjoyable experience, but it was a complete nightmare. Misleading Pickup: The website advertised free nearby hotel pickups, but after booking, we were emailed and told they couldn’t pick us up. Rude Customer Service: Upon arriving at the harbor, the lady at the front entrance for Spirit of the Sea was unwelcoming and extremely rude. No Reserved Seating & Unhelpful Staff: Despite reserving family seating together, there were no free seats when we boarded. We asked a senior staff member (an older gentleman with a beard) for help, but since no staff wore name badges, he simply fobbed us off and walked away. Thankfully, a kind couple offered us their seats in the middle of the boat. Dangerous & Unsafe Conditions: The journey was violently rough, with the boat tossing constantly. Water kept splashing in, and there were no visible life jackets or safety measures. When my partner went near the edge to see the dolphins, she nearly fell overboard. Later, when I stood up during a sudden lurch, my daughter hurt her hand. The motion was so severe that we couldn't even reach the snack bar to get water. Widespread Seasickness & Poor Communication: Nearly everyone on board became violently ill, including my young daughter. Staff simply handed out sick bags and offered no real assistance. Most of the crew spoke very little English and even made light of the situation, jokingly telling passengers to go for a swim in the deep sea. This trip was a total waste of money, completely unsafe, and deeply disappointing. I would strongly advise families to look elsewhere.
Fantastic trip from pick up to drop off! The dolphin experience was just brilliant 🐬
The tour has been great and we had the chance to see a lot of dolphins. The boat respects very well the rules to do not bother animals. Several passengers were sick due to the ocean's waves and the crew was very well organised and kind towards everybody. Overall a great experience.
We were collected as part of the package, from a location close to our hotel. When booking in the lady disbelieved my daughter was 12, yes she is fairly tall, so that was uncomfortable in front of the queue. The actual trip was great, I’d recommend travel sickness tablets. At one point it didn’t look like we would see anything, but eventually we saw dolphins. It all depends on nature which is understandable.
Rang the operator directly to book and paid when we arrived, the staff was AMAZING, we seen multiple dolphins and they interacted with the boat going under and popping up all over the place swimming alongside us, on the way back towards the shore we seen a turtle and loads of flying fish! The boat then stopped and we had about 10/15 minutes for people to jump in and have a swim which we did and I would highly recommend. We had our 19 month old baby with us and the staff couldn’t have done more for us. The water is very choppy and after reading the reviews we was prepared for this but about 60% of the people on the boat experienced sea sickness so if your also not a fan of being around that its hard. Amazing staff and amazing experience
Awesome experience. Would totally recommend. We saw flying fish, turtles and loads of dolphins. The boat was comfortable and gave out free soft drinks. We took sea sickness tablets before we went and all felt fine. Don’t hesitate, book it!
Don’t book. 2 minutes of dolphins for 3 hours of the entire boat feeling seasick? Not worth it in the slightest. Oh, and that’s IF you see any. If you want to spend your hard earned cash to shove your face in a sick bag for half a day (and don’t worry, they hand them out like sweets), then by all means - go ahead and waste your money. It’d be a different story if you actually saw anything - though, somehow, I have a feeling it probably wouldn’t.
We stayed at Salobre hotel and serenity Golf resort maspalomas, which is up in the mountains. The team advised us they didn’t do pick up from this resort but from a hotel down in maspalomas, which is actually the same hotel as the salobre’s free shuttle bus drops off and picks up from. It worked out really well: we got off one shuttle bus and onto the pick up bus, and then got onto the boat. We did the same on the way back. At the harbour, we joined a queue on the left to check in with our online tickets, which was pretty fast moving, and actually they suggested we wait in the shade behind them rather than join to queue on the right, as we had a baby, which was kind. Then, they gave us priority boarding and asked us to sit at the table in the shade if we wanted. This was totally unexpected and really nice. The boat trip itself was so fun. As we waited in the harbour, we saw a ray, thin fish , crabs, and as we left the harbour and moved into open water, bobbing along we saw flying fish (totally unreal), birds swooping down, and we had just a general lovely sense of adventure that comes with boat trips. The wind in your hair and the smell of salt. We really didn’t expect to see dolphins because we understood it’s completely unpredictable, but we were hopeful, and then so happy we actually did. The dolphins were beautiful, diving in and out of the waves. We saw bottlenose dolphins; my partner snapped an amazing pic with several of them jumping out of the waves. Like many of the reviewers comment, many people were sick. Luckily we don’t suffer with travel or sea sickness but we observed that the staff were amazing and very kind, handing out sick bags, bringing water, very sweet and friendly. I would say with the volume of people feeling ill I’d advise everyone to take anti travel sick pills just in case. The staff were chatty and kind and they told us all about the dolphins we saw. The bar staff chatted to our little kid and joked around. Because we have a baby (23 months) and child (5) we didn’t bring our swimmers and swim in the sea at the 15 minute swim break on the way back, bur we enjoyed watching people diving off the boat and enjoying the ocean. We did see people with young kids with body floats on, so perhaps we’d do that next time, but our aim was to have a lovey boat trip together. Thanks so much for a great trip 🤩
Really enjoyed the trip, staff very considerate
Unreal experience. Saw lots of dolphins some came very close to the boat. Also sea turtle and flying fish. Guides were excellent at encouraging dolphins near the boat. 20 mins spent by the dolphins as the conservation area is protected which is so nice to see. 2.5 hours on a boat in the middle of the ocean, you go 4 miles approx out to sea so be prepared for very choppy water! A lot of people got sea sick but as long as you don’t expect it to be calm and you take necessary precautions like motion sickness tablets it’s an amazing experience. Free water and sore drinks on board with option to purchase alcohol. Also take photos when you board with an option to buy for €10. Would highly recommend the trip, you won’t be disappointed by what you see!
Great experience, great crew.
Really enjoyed our family trip. Saw lots of dolphins, flying fish and a whale. Highlight of our weeks holiday in Puerto Rico and kids absolutely loved it and staff were excellent!
What a fabulous day and amazing experience. Everything went very smoothly from the pick up in Playa del Ingles. The staff are very experienced and informative and explained what we were likely to see that day. It’s nature and nothing is guaranteed of course but they did say if they never spotted anything then you could have a voucher to try again another day. When we left the port we travelled for around 1 hour and then saw a large group of dolphins feeding. They came right up to the boat and swam alongside for quite a while. On both the outbound and return journey we saw hundreds of flying fish as well. The sea is quite choppy and 3 or 4 people were quite unwell so it would be advisable to take some anti sick medication if you suffer. Great value for money and something I would do again.
The excursion itself was enjoyable, but the organization and customer service were disappointing. My booking was paid and confirmed for July 26. The day before the tour, the operator contacted me and explained that, due to a system error, my confirmed booking could not be honored because there were no available places. I accepted to move the excursion to July 27 because it was too late to arrange another activity. On the new date, there was another issue with the pick-up arrangements. Due to unclear communication about the meeting point, I had to take a taxi to Puerto Rico in order not to miss the excursion. Afterwards, a member of the operator’s staff called me and confirmed that the taxi cost would be reimbursed upon presentation of the receipt. I provided the details requested, but I have not received any reimbursement or reply. I have the full WhatsApp conversation and the taxi receipt available. I hope Viator and the local operator can review this situation and resolve the reimbursement issue.
Excellent trip and we got to see 4 whales which was absolutely fantastic. On the way back we stopped for a little swim which was nice and refreshing. A little choppy but to be expected with the Atlantic Ocean. Overall a brilliant trip and we would highly recommend, even though my son was sick due to rough sea he still said it was a great trip.
Very good trip. We did see dolphins amazing. I recommend to everyone please take travel sickness tablets. It’s rough out in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. So many people suffer with sea sickness. You have been warned.
We were picked up from our hotel and taken to the boat. The boat never left for another 45 mins not what we were expecting. The boat finally set sail after about 40 mins it started getting very choppy and people were being sick everywhere. It was then another 20 mins before we saw any dolphins. The trip overall was good but I would say take some anti sickness pills before you go and spare clothes. We were all ok but I could not get back on the coach transfer with people covered in sick. So we decided to make our own way back to the hotel.
Wow - amazing crew! We had very choppy waters today I was thankful we had taken travel sickness pills prior to the trip! Unfortunately not all passengers were as lucky! It was a very kind and helpful crew to those that suffered though! We saw flying fish, a turtle and dolphins who although took a while to find, loved swimming alongside the boat for a good ten minutes and it was lovely! Definitely worth the money. Note: do take travel sickness pills prior to travelling for maximum enjoyment of the experience. Also sun cream and hats are advised! If you have binoculars even better but not needed when dolphins are six feet away!
A very nice trip to the dolphins, a cool crew.
What an experience. We saw whales, turtles, dolphins and flying fish. Worth the money.
Amazing to see dolphins, fly fish and turtles in the wild and in close proximity. Spotted whales briefly only at a distance. Hopefully a closer encounter next time. Very friendly staff! And quick to reply about my questions regarding pickup arrangements (which was not available from our hotel, despite TripAdvisor ad advertising pickup included). Daughter got sea sick, but said she had a good time anyway.
The experienced crew were enthusiastic and informative
Fantastic experience, saw flying fish, a turtle just bobbing around on the surface and lots of dolphins enjoying a play. They put a fab show on for us. The crew were very helpful, helping our daughter get a better view just before the sightings
Overall it was a nice trip. We got to see lots of dolphins in one area and they were amazing creatures. No whales unfortunately. The swim stop was OK but to short. Only true negative was when we returned the bus wasn't there and a few of us had to wait 30 mins for the bus to take us back to our resort. No communication just waiting its on its way. Not acceptable as there were children also waiting in the hot sun.
It was a great trip, the crew was very friendly and we saw lots of dolphins!!! The only downside is all the people that got sea sick, the crew were well prepared and handed out sick bags.
A great experience and definitely worth doing! We were lucky enough to see dolphins up close. However, be aware that the boat can get very rough. If you suffer from seasickness, this trip might be difficult, as several people were sick during our tour.
Rep told us collection would be at hotel. Ticket stated collection at hotel next door. We went to the hotel next door and waited. We received no calls. Asked a coach driver if we were being collected and he called his boss and he said its the next coack coming. We had waited 20 mins at this point. 45 mins later a spirit of the sea mini bus arrived and the female driver said we were not here. She refused to drive us to the boat. She suddenly decided that she didnt speak english and said take a taxi and would no tell us to where. Speak no english she said.Tui rep unable to be contacted and does not arrive in hotel during hours stated on the board. Would not recommend booking this trip with this company
Great boat trip. If you are like me and a little nervous of a boat and unsteady on your feet the crew where so amazing in helping me about the boat and making sure I got a great seated view of all the dolphins. The crew went above and beyond helping everyone move safely, handing out drinks, taking photos and all while being super friendly. Thank you. Myself and my parents had a fab time.
Chose a day when the winds were forecast to be light. Still a little bit of a roller coaster on occasions. Saw lots and lots of dolphins who were performing leaps out of the water and racing alongside the bow of the boat. Also saw flying fish and a couple of turtles. The crew were excellent and were enthusiastic in their work. A very pleasant morning.
Booked on the harbour side the day we sailed. The trip was excellent! Boat was clean with refreshments included and toilets onboard. We sat upstairs on deck and seating was good. The guide was speaking in different languages. We saw lots and lots of Dolphins and flying fish following the boat,my grandson age 5 was amazed ,he loved it . There were photos taken as you board and option to buy the photo and a keychain ,which was really good quality tbh. Overall good value for money, highly recommend and if you don’t see any dolphins you can go back another day for free which is good .
Weather was fantastic sea a bit choppy crew were very helpful. Tour was for just over 2 hours. Didn’t see any whales on this trip but got to see plenty of dolphins.Been on the tour on previous visits would recommend
Fabulous experience. The overall experience was 10/10. From seating to spotting the dolphins it was perfect. The crew were very kind and made sure we were confident and felling fell out at sea. The boat was very safe and felt secure even for someone who is nervous on boats.
A wonderful experience to see dolphins in the wild. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was easy to purchase tickets online. Highly recommended!
Amazing tour! Friendly staff, ship was in good condition and seeing dolphins is guaranteed. If you don’t see them, you’ll get a voucher to go again. We saw a lot of them and we really liked the respect they give to the animals. There is a time limit to be around the dolphins to ensure their environment is respected!
Sea was rough didn’t see any whales or dolphins, engines kept running instead of even waiting for a few moments with them shut off, really shouldn’t have been took out, we were offered a free trip for another day but we didn’t have time for when we booked for when we went home,
My hubby & I booked this trip via TUI. Had a great trip seeing a number of dolphins. Well organised and informative staff. Would book again and possibly direct as a lot cheaper at 20€ each rather than the £35 paid to TUI although this did also include transport to and from hotel to marina in Puerto Rico
