Massimo was amazing. So enthusiastic and helpful. He took us on the most marvellous walking route taking in so many aspects of this side of Tenerife. He was supportive all the time with the slower members of the group after this super walk up some fabulous hills. Brilliant all round.

Itinerary
Spend a full day exploring the Anaga Mountains on a guided hiking tour in Tenerife’s UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, away from the busy resorts. Pickup is provided from the southern or eastern coastal areas, followed by a drive to Anaga. You’ll start with a short introductory walk (about 25–35 minutes) in the misty Enchanted Forest, where laurel trees and shifting clouds create a unique atmosphere. In clear weather, you may also catch distant views of Mount Teide. Next, travel by vehicle to the main trailhead, passing a still-inhabited cliffside cave village along the way. The main hike follows mountain trails across ridges, forested slopes, and valleys, with varied terrain and constantly changing scenery. Your guide shares insights into the region’s nature, history, and everyday life, and a relaxed picnic break is included (hilltop or inside a cave, depending on conditions). This experience works well for experienced hikers and for first-timers in good general physical condition, but it does involve uneven terrain and narrow paths. The route ends with a short but physically demanding final climb. After the tour, you’ll receive 20–30 digital photos taken throughout the day.

We had a great day hiking and learning with Alex on the Anaga Mountains hiking tour. The group was small (5 hikers), communication was thorough, pick up was smooth and the hiking was great. It was nice to get away from the tourist area where we stayed and get into the peaceful mountains. The Enchanted forest was a beautiful short hike with many people around due to its beauty and Insta-fame. In the Anaga mountains we did not see anyone else on the trail- it was beautiful, challenging in parts and peaceful. Alex is funny, knowledgeable and made sure everyone was comfortable and safe in the more technical sections of the hike. He shared historical, climate and geological insights about the area where we hiked. After the hike Alex sent everyone great photos that he took of all of us in the trail- much appreciated! I would highly recommend this hike with Alex. It has its challenging sections but doable if you are fit and adventurous - we are two senior hikers age 66 and 77 and loved the hike!
This was an awesome way to spend the day in Tenerife. My husband and I were visiting from a cruise line stop. Directions to the pickup area were clearly given by the company, and it was an easy walk to the pickup location. The winding road and tree line canopy on the drive up the mountain were beautiful. The Enchanted Forest was such a serene place, a wonderful experience. The hike was amazing, yet challenging at times. I am not an avid hiker; so for me, the hike was mostly moderate with occasional intense areas, all leading to fabulous views. Absolutely be prepared for challenges; all were doable, if physically up for it. Alex was our tour guide, and he was excellent! Ample rest stops were taken. The tour overview details are spot-on. Alex and Olena were very communicative with us; absolutely a 5-star operation. Alex, thanks for such a great experience!
It was great experience. Alex, our Guide was amazing, very informative and entertaining. We did another hike with Elana and experience was same and wonderful. Thank you Alex and Experience
Massimo is an amazing guide in every respect: friendly , knowledgeable, full of energy , knowing how to motivate and entertain. The hike surpassed our expectations. Worth every penny !
Very good experience, spectacular views, and a very friendly guide Alex, who told us a lot about the nature, geography and climate of tenerife. We would recommend it to everyone who likes an adventurous walk in nature.
I really loved this tour! The Enchanted Forest and Anaga Mountains are absolutely beautiful, and the views along were incredible. Our guide was great: knowledgeable, friendly, and really good at keeping the group together and making everyone feel comfortable. I was traveling solo, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I ended up meeting some really nice people during the hike, which made the day even more fun. The hike itself was around 4.5 hours total. It was definitely a workout, but not crazy difficult or exhausting. There was enough variety and a few thrilling moments to keep things interesting without feeling like you were struggling the whole time. And honestly, the views make you forget you’re even hiking sometimes! I’d definitely would recommend it to anyone visiting Tenerife, especially if you’re traveling on your own. Great people, great guide, and some seriously beautiful scenery.
It was great! A little technical at times but our guide Massimo got us through it. He came prepared with snacks, helmets, light torches, a wealth of knowledge on the area and plenty of enthusiasm. We would have never discovered these corners on our own!
This was an amazing experience, so much more than a hike. Massimo was an excellent guide, extremely knowledgeable about the locations. He also developed a great sense of camaraderie among a group if strangers. This combined with the different dimensions of the actual hike made it a real adventure. I look forward to future hikes with Massimo as guide.
My daughter and I joined this tour in a Ford minivan. Our guide Massimo was very attentive to all 8 hikers. He was very knowledgeable and funny. The hike was quite demanding (at least for us 😉) but the sense of achievement was worth it. The views from the top of the mountain while having our picnic lunch will stay with us for many months to come. Thank you Massimo for an amazing day and for the photos and videos you took of us all individually for free.
Massimo was a fantastic guide! He took us to amazing parts of the Anaga Forest that we would have never discovered on our own. The views were stunning, and the landscapes felt so unique, nothing like anything we’ve seen elsewhere in Europe. What really stood out was his kindness and genuine love for nature. He shared lots of interesting facts about the local plants, animals, and the forest itself, which made the hike even more enjoyable. You could tell he really cares about preserving this special place. We always felt safe and well looked after. Massimo was very considerate of the different hiking abilities in our group, so nobody felt rushed and everyone could enjoy the hike at their own pace. He also handled the narrow mountain roads with great confidence and was very well prepared throughout the tour. I’d highly recommend this trip if you want to experience the real beauty of the Anaga Forest and see a completely different side of Tenerife beyond the busy resort areas. Definitely don’t miss it!
This hike blew us away - and for more than one reason. The route was brilliantly put together: we began with a magical hour wandering through an enchanted forest, then hopped back in the van and were taken to a special hiking spot where the real adventure began: a stunning mountain trail with views that genuinely left us speechless. The path was wonderfully varied, around 17,000 steps in total (proper hiking boots are a must). But what truly made this experience exceptional was our guide, Massimo. If there's a "most cheerful and motivating guide in the world" award, he deserves it. His warmth and energy created an amazing atmosphere within the group almost instantly, and he has this remarkable ability to make the hike feel personal for every participant - in ways we'll leave for you to discover yourself :) The logistics were seamless too: a comfortable transfer from our accommodation to the trailhead, and even the music on the way set exactly the right mood. We recommend this 100% without hesitation and would go back ourselves in a heartbeat. Thank you, Massimo!
Great trip I can easily recommend. If you like mountain hikes that one is unforgettable.
Totally unique experience. One that neither of us were expecting, more of an adventure than a hike. I would totally recommend it however, I would have to say. Not for the faint hearted and defo get some training in first. Our tour guide was Alex. The mountain goat. Absolutely fantastic! Get out your comfort zone and book it!
This experience was both very physically and mentally challenging. Alex, our guide, was incredibly helpful and compassionate throughout the entire hike. I suffer from vertigo and Alex helped me push through parts in which we were walking on a thin edge of a cliff and my mind wanted to panic. I was not expecting the level of emotional support received and I’m deeply grateful!

If you are in Tenerife and enjoy hiking adventures, this is a Must-Do. Our day began on a short hike through an enchanting part of the laurel forest. The quiet tranquility was beautiful and magical..... but that was only the beginning. Alex then drove us deep into the mountains - hundreds of hairpin turns on narrow roads that appeared one-way (but weren't!). It was here that our real adventure began. We became Billy goats, trekking up and down steep rocky paths, ogling dramatic landscapes, exploring cave dwellings, lunching with 360-degree breathtaking views, ducking through dark tunnels lit only by our flashlights, and tramping in old aqueducts clinging to the cliff sides. Alex is a gifted storyteller, adroit adventurer and attentive guide. He entertained and enriched us with his knowledge of the flora and fauna, kept us well fed, and memorialized our experience with his terrific photos. I have done a lot of hiking, and this is my current all-time favorite. What a wonderful end to my trip to the Canary Islands. Thank you Alex!!!
This was hands down the highlight of our trip to Tenerife. Anaga feels like another world — lush green forests, dramatic views, and trails you’d never find on your own. The tour is perfectly organized, with a great balance of adventure, nature, and comfort. You’re not just walking — you’re experiencing the island in a way that stays with you. If you’re even thinking about it — just go.
It was an amazing experience!! Wonderful views, challenging trails, informative and friendly guide. Well organized! Truly worth it and highly recommend it!
My boyfriend and I did this on a trip to Tenerife and it was our favorite thing we did on our entire vacation. Our guide, Alex, was excellent - perfect mix of adventure, enjoying the beauty of nature, and humor. It was by far the most incredible part of our trip.
Really enjoyed the hike. The guide (Alex) kept the hike interesting the whole time and knows a lot of facts about surroundings and he is funny too! Our group had good fitness level and Alex adjusts the hike accordingly. Don’t be afraid to sign up if you aren’t a seasoned hiker. Highly recommending and it’s the way to actually explore Tenerife!
We had a great experience with our tour guide Alex who was very attentive and knowledgeable. Our pick up was early in the morning (7h30) but on-time from Los Gigantes. We were a small group of 6. The first part of the tour is a short walk in the Enchanted Forest which does feel a little magical like a walking in a fairy tale. We were there early in the morning and had the impression to be alone with our group. When being utterly silent you could hear the water drops falling from the moisture that collects on the moss trees. The second and biggest part of the tour is the hike in the Anaga mountains we got well equipped with walking sticks, helmet and flash light. Impressive views of mountains and sea, narrow paths through tunnels and following an old water channel. We even got lucky and had goat encounters twice during the hike. In the middle of the hike we had a picnic stop with a sandwich, nuts and juice on a very nice viewpoint surrounded by green mountains and looking out on the sea. The complete hike took about 4 hours for 5.75km and 285m elevation gain. I would recommend having a good condition and some hiking experience to do this tour. Also good hiking shoes are recommended. We were wearing sneakers ourselves, which was ok, but decent hiking shoes would have been more comfortable for better grip. We very much enjoyed the tour and would recommend if you like to hike and being in nature off the beaten tourist tracks.
Very interesting hike along unusual track. Sometimes pretty scary hights to look down. Alex the guide did a good job and took good care of everything.
This was an amazing, but rigorous trip. The basic facts are ( from Apple Watch), 6 miles and 88 flights of stairs climbed over a 7 hour day. We are two men in our 60s and did okay, but there are some places that are a bit scary and the drops are steep. Still, the views are amazing and Alex is very patient and helpful for everyone’s different abilities. We’re a bit stiff but very glad we did it. This is a very, very worthwhile tour.
The hike was amazing! Communication before the hike was excellent and timely, and the pick-up was punctual. Alex, our guide, drove safely, shared his knowledge about the island, and made everyone feel safe and well taken care of throughout the hike. Alex provided hiking poles, helmets, and flashlights for everyone, so everything was well organised for the hikers. The views were breathtaking! Hiking boots are a must. Despite road closures, Alex even managed to get us to the Enchanted Forest, which made the experience even more special. Overall, it’s a very accessible hike, although the final section requires a reasonable level of fitness.
Wow what a great experience. Alex was extremely knowledgeable and put our group at ease very quickly. A stunning area to explore walking along some spectacular routes usually reserved for Goats ( Greatest Of All Time!) Would definitely recommend this trip.
For us more mature folk, this hike was definitely a little challenging — but worth every single minute. We began with a 30-minute walk through the rainforest. Extra clothing or layers are definitely needed as this section is quite cold, but it’s incredibly beautiful, and our tour guide shared lots of interesting information along the way. From there, we moved on to the main hike in a truly stunning area. By lunchtime we had reached the top of the mountain, rewarded with breathtaking views and a lovely lunch, which was very welcome after the climb. The next stage took us along a water gully, through tunnels and alongside sheer drops, with views absolutely to die for. The final part of the hike was a scramble up rocks. Thanks to the patience and encouragement of our guide, I managed to make it to the top. It was tough, but completely worth the effort. An unforgettable experience!
Absolutely fabulous hike. Can't fault it at all. Brilliant communication before hand. Picked us up outside our hotel. Gave us a potted history en route. The enchanted forest was a wonderful experience. Take some warm clothes and a jacket as you will be 1000m+ in altitude so its a tad chilly and damp. The main walk was lower down and significantly warmer. I wore long shorts others wore hiking trousers. Best to wear hiking shoes or boots. Take a warm top as well as a t-shirt. Don't for get your suncream and a hat. Most of the hike is relatively easy for an experienced walker but there is a short scramble at the end up to the van. There are some enclosed spaces and precipitous edges so check with the walk lead if you have any phobias relating to these. The views are to die for, its just such a gorgeous area. You will not be short of photo opportunities. The guide is very knowledgeable about the geological history of the area and happy to answer questions. A light lunch is provided. The early pickups may mean you miss breakfast so take a few energy bars if this is the case for you. Drop off was equally efficient. And the tour lead provides a link to all the photos he took for you to download. We absolutely loved the tour. Strongly recommend it.
An excellent day out exploring parts of the Anaga national park we would not have attempted solo. Our guide, Alex, was charming and knowledgeable and at all times safety conscious. The terrain is challenging in places, we hadn’t appreciated walking poles and helmets (supplied by Alex) were essential. I would add a note of caution if you’re claustrophobic or suffer from vertigo.
It is hard to put into words the beauty of the views or the delightfully unexpected nature of the second part of the hike. Alex was a gem - great sense of humor and put everyone at ease while never overlooking the safety and level of comfort of the group on the difficult parts of the hike. There are some physical challenges but the results of the experience and what we saw and felt were totally worth it. The weather can change at any time so go prepared for anything and it will surpass all your expectations. We left with an incredible sense of achievement in the end. Would recommend without question.
Excellent guided walk through the Anaga mountains. Alex was a cheerful and friendly guide, taking our small group of eight walkers to parts of the National Park I would not have found by myself. Decent walking shoes are a must, Alex provided walking poles which were invaluable on some of the steeper sections. Picnic lunch was tasty. I would definitely walk with Alex again, hopefully with a group as fun as the group I had this time.
Alex was great. It was overall a very enjoyable day. Beautiful views. The hike left us feeling quite accomplished. One of a kind experience and would definitely recommend!
Fantastic tour with wonderful views over the Enchanted forest and Anaga. Alex is a great guide, and he makes sure everyone is safe and having a great experience. Would definitely recommend to friends:)
Absolutely fantastic experience, amazing sights and wonderful company. Alex and Massimo, you can tell, love what they do. They were very patient, caring and informative throughout the hike. 5/5* experience, fantastic job from these guys. Get booking with them, you won’t be disappointed.
Great day out in the beautiful Anaga national park. Alex was a helpful and knowledgeable guide and we were rewarded with the most stunning views.
Great guide, amazing views and vibes. Alex took the time to give all group members attention and setting the pace. Shared nice, fun details about the plants and island along the way. Can recommend!
This was incredible! A must do! Our guide Alex was extraordinary and made everyone feel comfortable as this was a challenging hike.
Amazing Alex and his tour was so nice and challenging but will also stay always in our minds - he was so caring and we had an amazing time
The tour and the guide were great! We had a great day out. Saw some of the island’s biodiversity. The guide was very attentive and ensured everyone had a great experience, and ensuring everyone kept up, especially at some of the challenging sections. Sceneries are amazing at mountain tops! Small group tour. Highly recommended!
Having booked this trip I still wasn’t sure what to expect having read the reviews. Some say it’s easy some say it’s hard and some say it’s scary!! From my perspective, if you have a degree of fitness it’s not a hard hike in terms of difficulty, however, if you are afraid of heights or the potential of falling then it may have its challenges! All in all it was a wonderful experience, myself and my sister met a small group of lovely people from several different countries and the guide, Alex, was knowledgeable and funny, if a little evasive about timings and fears we may have to tackle lol I would recommend this trip you won’t be disappointed.
This was a brilliant tour with some awesome scenery, some challenging hiking, interesting facts and amusing commentary from our guide Alex who looked after us so well.
Great hike offering magnificent views and surprising walking trails. Alex is a very knowlegeable and entertaining guide.
We had such a great time on our hike! Alex was very communicative on when and where he would pick us up and was super knowledgeable about a lot of different things regarding Tenerife and Anaga! The hike we went on was beautiful with an ocean view and cool caves and a lunch! Alex made sure everyone was being safe and was such a great host! Highly recommend this experience was a great way to spend the day in Tenerife!
Alex showed us the real Tenerife. What a fantastic way to spend some time in such a beautiful natural setting.
We did the hike with our 8-year-old daughter. It was exceptionally hot due to the calima wind and high UV: fortunately we were well prepared with enough water, sunscreen and proper hiking boots. Alex, our guide, provided us with hiking sticks and torches. It was an amazing experience with breathtaking views, great anecdotes, tasty snacks and interesting information. Alex is very attentive, calm and has a great sense of humour. Thanks again, Alex, we loved it all through! Visiors: go for it but take precautions seriously.
I booked this based on the amazing reviews & I certainly wasn’t disappointed. The Enchanted Forest is a magical experience & not to be missed. The hike stands out as something really quite spectacular & the views contend impressively with the best of Madeira. It even follows a levada! The walking poles and helmet are a must and really adds to the adventure. I’d suggest this is a moderate challenge hike & suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. As for the operation, an email detailing possible conditions and what to bring was super helpful & the communication regarding pick up was fantastic! Alex was amazing! Great fun, insightful and with a good knowledge of local interesting facts. My group was a real mix of abilities and Alex did an amazing job of meeting the differing needs of the group and keeping things going at a good pace. If struggling to choose your trips, I urge you to choose this one!
I visited Anaga a few days ago with Alex and a small group, and it was truly one of the most breathtaking experiences of my life. Having traveled to many places around the world, I can confidently say that Anaga stands out as something extraordinary. The landscapes were mesmerizing — from misty forests to panoramic mountain views, every turn felt like stepping into a dream. I especially loved the Enchanted Forest, which lives up to its name with its mysterious, fairytale-like atmosphere. What made the trip even more special was Alex’s guidance. He not only knew the best hiking routes and photo spots but also made the entire experience fun, insightful, and unforgettable. Thanks to his expertise, we explored a variety of trails that showed Anaga’s beauty from many different angles. I 100% recommend visiting Anaga — and if you can, ask Alex to be your guide. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will stay with you forever. 🌿💚
I was hiking through the Anaga relict forest and mountain ranges. It is interesting to walk an unusual route along canals and small trails. First, you climb the mountain, then you gradually descend. Along the way, you meet goats, lizards, and lots of cactus and agave. Alex is an experienced, knowledgeable, and very cheerful guide. You will confidently move forward, observing nature and engaging in conversation with the group and your guide.
Absolutely stunning nature spiced up with fun and interesting facts and stories from our really nice tour guide Alex. The hike itself was fun with different types of trails. If you are used to hiking it is an easy hike.
We got picked up from our hotel in morning and went straight to the Anaga enchanted forest for a few stops in select areas. We then embarked on a 3 and a half hour hike in the mountains near Anaga. It was challenging but not too strenuous. The highlight was a trek along the water channel dug into (and through!) the mountainside overlooking a deep valley with spectacular views. We even had our picnic lunch in a cave overlooking the valley. Alex was a great guide- informative and humorous. Highly recommended.
