Itinerary
Hiking Tour from the North of Tenerife When booking this option, transfer is included along the north coast of Tenerife, starting in Garachico and finishing in Bajamar. Northern Tenerife highlights covered by the transfer route: • Garachico (starting point) • Icod de los Vinos • Buenavista del Norte • La Orotava • Puerto de la Cruz • Tacoronte • San Cristóbal de La Laguna • Bajamar The group option featuring northern Tenerife departure with included transport runs exclusively on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Our first stop will be at this panoramic viewpoint. The drive here usually takes about 30 minutes from the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Cruise Port, and approximately 70 minutes if you are coming from the South of the island.
We will drive to the trailhead, a journey of approximately 30 minutes. Our route takes us through the heart of a dense, ancient laurel forest, eventually leading us to a unique village. Here, you will see a remarkable way of life: half of the dwellings are built directly into the cliffs, forming traditional cave houses. It’s a fascinating glimpse into how the local inhabitants have integrated their homes into the natural rock for generations.
We begin our hike by ascending along a specially maintained official trail. This path allows us to venture deep into the ancient laurel forest while staying right on the crest of the mountain.
At this location, we will make two distinct stops at spectacular viewpoints. One of them offers a stunning 360° panoramic view on clear days, providing a full perspective of the island's rugged beauty. You will also have the opportunity to walk through the relict laurel forest. This is a unique chance to see with your own eyes the ancient endemic species that have survived on Tenerife since before the last Ice Age. It is a living museum of natural history.
Our return journey takes us through San Cristóbal de La Laguna, the first capital of Tenerife. From here, the drive to Santa Cruz de Tenerife takes approximately 30 minutes, while reaching the South of the island will take about 60 minutes.

One of the best tours I have ever joined!! I definitely recommend this hike! Thank you again Eugenio for the great time and experience!
One of the best tours I have ever joined!! I can really recommend it!
I had a wonderful experience hiking in the Anaga Mountains with my guide, Alex. He was knowledgeable, accommodating, and great company throughout the day. The hike was one of the most beautiful I’ve ever done, with truly breathtaking views. I’d highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get off the beaten path and experience a less touristy side of Tenerife.
Michal did a fantastic job of leading our hike. He was a great guide and made each and every one of us on the tour feel safe and tailored the tour to our desires
What and amazing day! While the trip is not for the faint of heart and not for the physically fit, it was incredible. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the area and was helpful to be sure we were safe by pointing out loose gravel, best ways to climb steep areas. He was encouraging when the trail became steep.
During our one-week cruise around the Canary Islands, this hike in the Anaga region was the absolute highlight. Michal is an exceptional guide, warm, knowledgeable, always exploring new routes, connected to the local people and their secluded way of life. He knows when to share stories and when to just walk in silence and take in the sounds and atmosphere of nature. The hike itself was fabulous: varied, scenic, and gently increasing in difficulty without ever feeling rushed or strenuous. We encountered only a handful of other hikers, mostly local mountain runners, which made the experience feel authentic and unspoiled. We did many activities during the week, but nothing came close to this one. Highly recommended.
What an amazing day. Eugene our guide was fantastic. We stopped off at 3 beautiful viewpoints before going on our hike. The hike was so varied with breathtaking views. We couldn't belive the views when we started and Eugene kept saying it would get better "it's just the warm up" and he wasn't wrong. It did get even more breathtaking as the hike went on. Not only was the hike itself amazing but Eugene was very knowledgeable and passionate! My mum is in her mid seventies and Eugene took the time to make sure she was OK and helped set the pace. Thank you for an amazing day out and for an unforgettable walk we will always cherish and remember.
If you happen to be in Tenerife, want a somewhat challenging, off-the-beaten path hike, then you should absolutely book this experience with Alex (who also works with Eugenio). He picked our family of four up at the cruise port, and after driving us through town, we headed up into the hills/Anaga. Stopped at an overlook to see a snow-covered Mount Teide in the distance. The trail itself wound its way around a valley on the north side of the island (you can see Punta Del Hidalgo in the distance), about 4 miles, 1000' of climb total. We saw a few other hikers and some runners, but mostly had the trail to ourselves. It really had it all - spectacular views, waterfalls, interesting terrain, goats! We're pretty experienced hikers, but water channel part of the hike was unlike anything we'd done before and was definitely memorable! Alex was informative, a great companion, and paced us well. Would definitely have him guide us again.
Real Hidden Gem! We made so many beautiful photos of the mountains, relict forest and Atlantic ocean.
I participated in a group tour for a fantastic discovery day, and everything was superb. Despite being a group, we encountered only four other people along the route, which was a significant highlight. I felt completely safe with our guide, Eugenio, and had a great time. We explored truly wonderful, off-the-beaten-path locations. Eugenio shared many interesting stories about the island and its history during the trip. He was also kind enough to take some good pictures throughout the hike. Overall, it was a highly enjoyable and safe experience.
The logistics for this trip were handled with great clarity. Eugenio picked us up precisely as agreed, provided a thorough overview of what to expect, and confirmed we had all necessary equipment for a safe and enjoyable journey. It was wonderful being out in the Anaga mountains. Eugenio selected an engaging route, incorporating diverse trails to show us both standard and less-traveled paths through the landscape. The total duration of the outing, including travel time and several stops to appreciate the views, was approximately 7 hours. Overall, this trip is highly recommended to experience and enjoy the Anaga mountains.
We had an excellent time hiking through the mountains in Anaga. The logistics, including the transfer from Las Américas in the morning, operated smoothly and efficiently. The hike itself was not overly demanding physically, yet it offered some truly spectacular views. A definite highlight was the canals area, a segment that provided a noticeable burst of adrenaline. Following that, we made stops to capture pictures in several scenic forest spots. Be prepared for continuously changing weather conditions—we experienced everything from rain and strong wind to sunshine within a mere 15-minute timeframe. This was a superb mountain experience.
Thank you very much for enabling this journey. The organization, efficiency, and planning were excellent, and the guide, Eugenio, contributed significantly to the successful operation of the trip. We felt entirely comfortable despite the distance from home, as every stage worked out perfectly and on schedule. The sights we encountered were truly impressive. We will certainly recommend visiting Anaga Park with Eugenio.
This was a very cool tour! Honestly, I didn't expect this much variety of scenery on generally dry Tenerife. The route is on the eastern side of the island, and some spots feel exactly like a tropical rainforest. It's genuinely beautiful and worth every cent. Just remember, the temperature drops during the walk—by about 10 degrees—so packing layers is a must. Our guide, Eugenio, was great and shared all the unique details about the area. You need some basic fitness; there are a few climbs, but it's totally doable even for inexperienced hikers. The main thing: wear shoes with a good grip. Prepare to be amazed; you'll feel extremely satisfied when you finish.
Anaga is truly an enchanted forest, and the title of the experience clearly reflects the journey. We completed a focused 3-hour route that traversed valleys and mountains, including passages near caves and old water channels. The landscape and the resulting views from the high points are genuinely incredible. The quality of the guiding service enhanced the entire experience significantly. The guide maintained an easygoing approach that successfully made all participants feel comfortable throughout the route. Highly recommend this stage of the journey!
Eugenio was an outstanding guide. His professionalism and deep knowledge, particularly concerning the local botany and vegetation, greatly enriched the journey. The entire trip was relaxed and highly enjoyable. Eugenio maintained a pleasant atmosphere, highlighted by his excellent music choices during the drives, which enhanced the time spent traveling. Beyond the guiding, Eugenio’s recommendations for coffee spots and restaurants were top-tier, ensuring the logistics of the trip flowed smoothly from start to finish. It was a genuinely great experience.
Eugenio is a perfect guide—knowledgeable, careful, and genuinely takes excellent care of his guests. We especially appreciated the nice traditional snacks and wine offered after our hike. He brought us to unique places we would never have discovered on our own. This whole day with Eugenio made us very happy, and we highly recommend his trips. We definitely hope to join him for another adventure on our next visit to Tenerife! Thank you, Eugenio!
Perfect balance in hiking distance and beautiful views. The guide was very informative and attentive. Real hidden gem!
The trip to Anaga was an incredibly emotional and vivid experience. Even though it was a small group tour, the organization was flawless; every stop and activity unfolded like a perfectly planned script. Our guide managed the route so well that we had time to visit several extra viewpoints before the crowds arrived. We even encountered a huge herd of local Canarian goats, which usually roam far down in the gorge! Anaga truly is unique, offering an amazing diversity of plants, cacti, and endemic species. Highly recommended!
The route was highly scenic and quite unique. It was also diverse, featuring visits to various viewpoints. Throughout the entire hike, we only encountered about ten other travelers. To my absolute astonishment, I bumped into a friend who had booked the exact same tour through a different platform, but with the same Activity Provider—Trektenerife. Our group was small, consisting of just three participants. This allowed us to maintain an excellent pace, as everyone was similarly fit and well-prepared. This uniformity was a significant advantage, ensuring the hike flowed smoothly from start to finish.100%
Although it was technically a group tour, there were only three participants plus our guide, Eugenio. I was extremely impressed by the organization and the planning; everything-every stop, every activity-unfolded like a pre-written script. Even the weather seemed to be planned in advance! I mean, as we moved along, the clouds above us cleared up, which was perfect for taking photos, while we could clearly see the rain falling in the distant mountains. Of course, a light rain jacket is definitely essential for this trip, just in case-it's necessary in the mountains, especially in the East of Tenerife. In addition to the main walking route, we visited several different viewpoints, and managed to do this in the morning before the usual crowds arrived. Absolutely outstanding!
One of the best hiking trips I ever made. Mountains, forests, plants and even waterfall with a pond full of frogs. Stunning panoramic views, beautiful nature and friendly atmosphere throughout the whole trip. Highly recommend!
My trip to Anaga was such an incredibly emotional and vivid experience that I decided to write a review a few days later, just to make sure I was being reasonable. But I am still very much in that magical state! Anaga is so beautiful and diverse that it probably deserves multiple visits. Of course, a lot depends on the guide and your companions on the tour, and I was extremely lucky with both the weather and our guide, Eugenio. We completed the walking route quite quickly, which gave us time to visit several extra spots. Literally as soon as we were leaving the eastern part of the island, the rain started, showing just how changeable the weather is here. I definitely recommend this tour!
It was a great journey! The beauty of the mountains, of the nature is marvellous! The views are amazing! I didn't want to leave the place. This is something you will see and leave in your heart forever.
The hike is easy to do and a super nice guide. He makes sure everyone is comfortable and tells jokes. And Anaga is so beautiful, definitely worth a visit!
I loved today's excursion. Everything was very well organized and I enjoyed the places we visited very much. In addition, the guide was excellent, very kind, attentive and explained everything in a very clear and entertaining way. Without a doubt, he made the experience even better. 100% recommended!
Elena is fantastic! She is super enthusiastic and friendly. It was a great tour. An experience to remember!!
Our guide Elkin was very friendly and explained to us details about Tenerife, its origins, as well as about the landscape and plants, he responded to our wishes. An all-round beautiful hike, you should wear hiking boots and be good on foot
Extraordinary beauty nature and great company! Time flew by like an instant. We started moving early enough to avoid the main tourist flow. To my surprise, we only met six people on this walking route all day. This makes the route an absolutely unique track that has not yet been discovered by mass tourism. Our group was small — only five people, including a guide. I sincerely recommend it!
