Very interesting walk across varied lava fields, around volcanos and into one. The walk is 3 hours and mostly flat. Our guides were knowledgeable and engaging. The 3 hours flew by, even though we had wind and rain for most of the walk! The 10 minute stop for a snack was enough to keep the energy levels up. Pick up was on time from our hotel (9am) followed by a number of other pick ups on route, we were at the starting point around 9.45, then walk started about 10. Be aware there are no toilet facilities at any point on this trip (not a criticism but for information).

Itinerary
Vimotions offers you the chance of enjoying a fantastic hiking tour through one of the protected areas which represent the recent and historical volcanism of Lanzarote. This area is the nature park of Los Volcanes and its space is covered by the lava of the eruptions that took place there in 1730-36 and 1824. You will go on a very enlightening route during which you will be able to discover the amazing world of volcanoes while you walk across lava flows or ascend to volcanic cones where it’s possible to find spectacular craters, lava tunnels, lava lakes, etc. All the volcanic structures are well conserved because of the arid weather of Lanzarote, which causes the evolution of its vegetation to be very slow. The result of this is a landscape which seems like a huge open-air museum of volcanology. The most interesting aspect of it is that, as a visitor and with your guide’s help, you will get to understand how the slow-but-constant rebirth of life upon the lava occurs. This tour is a unique experience to live and understand how the Canary Islands came to exist. • You will learn all about volcanoes and its consequences on the islands. • You will enjoy magnificent views during your hike. • A guide will remain alongside you at all times and tell you interesting facts about the land.

You have to be relatively fit, especially if it is windy. Fabulous scenery and the guide was really good.
Very easy walking and very interesting. The group was well looked after.
Most tours of the island have to be by coach but a hiking tour gives you chance to take a look at the little details of why the landscape is like it is. The guide was very friendly and prompt and clearly loved the island. Well worth doing if you like to know the ins and outs 🤓
Marcello was fantastic. Great guide and a very fun trip for all. Made the walk all the more enjoyable. 5*
Unique experience walking in the volcanic region. Some great stories about locals and the nature. But the walk is a bit long (for me personally) especially when its super windy
It was an amazing walk, got to see lots and the landscape is so breathtaking! The tour guide was excellent and told us lots of interesting facts about the volcanic park!
Great tour, with a very informative guide and lots to see and learn about. Take loads of water and wear good walking shoes!
A great hike through area of lava fields that are not directly accessible without a guide. Our guide was excellent and knowledgeable. .
An awesome treat this is a must do the 3 hours flew by there is just some much to see well worth the trip
The tour is just excellent!!! Our English guide Marcelo was amazing! He carefully explained so many things about the island, the volcanos, the agriculture and the history of Lanzarote. I really appreciated walking in the middle of the volcanos. The hike is quite easy and very pleasant! Strongly recommend it!!!
The 3 hour trekking tour was great, we would definitely recommend if you're interested in geography and/or the history of the island. Our guide, Maria, was extremely knowledgeable. I would say it was more easy to medium ability due to the heat and soft ground.
I selected an English speaking tour but that is not what you get. We had a knowledgeable guide Maria but every stop was 3 times longer as she had to explain in 3 languages which made the walk all the more boring Most of the walk is along a graded road with little to see . The Volcano was reached after slow walk of 2 hours . We left early as the tour was advertised to be 3 hours long with late start at 10.15 we only returned to our car by 1 pm and we left the group way after the Volcano visit In summary learnt some good information but stops, the walk and multiple language explanations was very tedious to say at best. Plan to out at least 4-5 hrs not 3 hrs as advertised
We liked the hike a lot. Great, very knowledgeable guide. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes and use plenty of sunscreen :)
Very informative, good fun as well. Highly recommended. Walking in an unreal landscape, very peaceful. Be prepared, there is no shade and it is rough underfoot in large parts. We had a chilly breeze at higher points so best carry something warm in your bag.
An outstanding morning. Fascinating to learn about volcanoes and to see things up close. Our guide made it fun and the walk totally exceeded our expectations. We were able to look into calderas, see different types of lava and understand how flora survives. Our pick up was easy to organise and was on time. We would totally recommend this trip.
We were picked from our hotel in Playa Blanca at the prearranged time. This had been emailed to us by Vimotions just after we booked through Viator. The tour started at 10:00 but the pick up was at 08:55 so something to be aware of if using the transfer option. Prior to beginning the actual walking part we were given a brief but interesting talk to set the context for what we would see. We were also given a bag containing some light snacks and bottles of water. Poles were available if needed. We travelled in an English speaking group of 9 so there was plenty of opportunity to see everything and ask loads of questions. Mano, our guide, was excellent. His knowledge of the region and his brilliant sense of humour made the landscape come alive and we learnt so much as we trekked through the Natural Park adjacent to the Timanfaya National Park (no trekking is allowed within its boundaries so this is the closest you can get). The whole experience was wonderful as we walked through the ancient landscape and viewed the power of nature up close and personal. We stood on the edge of extinct volcanoes, stared into chimneys and learnt all about the different kinds of pyroclastic debris that forms the current landscape. The walk itself took us over different underfoot conditions from fine sandy to quite large pyroclastic pieces and there were parts where we walked up and down quite steep inclines. I would say that you need to wear appropriate footwear - walking shoes or boots as opposed to trainers - with good grip as some of the pathways were loose underfoot. We are in our mid sixties but we coped with both the length of the walk (approximately 7km) and all the conditions without any real difficulty so although I would not categorise the walk as easy, I would say it is accessible to anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. Overall, we both found this tour to be fascinating and highly recommended if you want to get away from the touristy part of Timanfaya and experience the serene beauty that is the real Lanzarote. The tour company were excellent throughout and are also highly recommended. Thank you Mano for a morning we will never forget.
Excellent, easy walk through a very unique landscape. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and interesting. They were also on time for pick up and very organised. We booked after another operator cancelled last minute and were really happy with our alternative choice. A great way to spend some time outdoors.
The booking was fir 10AM. 6 weeks before travel a brief message was posted on viator that the pick up was changed to 8.50AM. The communication was not sent direct to us and as a result we still understood it to be 10AM. The day before the trip, we called the tour provider through the provider Viator contact and she confirmed she would pick us up at 10AM. The day of the trip we were there at 10AM and no one came. We later learnt they wanted to collect us a 9AM. We missed our trip and had to make our own arrangements for our own tour. Poor service, poor communication and misleading and false information. NEVER AGAIN ! We would now like our money back, where is our money ?
This was a really great afternoon in the lava fields with Marcel and Laurent! The walk was relaxed and even though the terrain was rough I never felt over-exerted. The hike runs for about 7km, lasting 3 hours, with numerous stops along the way to talk about the features visible in the landscape. Laurent's knowledge of the local geology was exceptional, and I learned a lot even though I've been to Lanzarote several times. I thoroughly recommend this tour for anybody if a reasonable level of fitness who would like to see another side of Lanzarote.
We enjoyed an excellent trek around the Park Natural de los Volcanes with Roger. We went to the wrong start-point but the guide and the group waited for us. This was booked through Tripadvisor (Vimotions) but operated by Canary Trekking. The route was a circular 8.5km loop and took us around Montaña Negra and then inside the crater of Volcán El Cuervo which was fantastic. The pace was just right and even our 8–year-old daughter kept up. Very informative and plenty of stops to explain the volcanic landscape and history of the area…complete with fruit and cereal bars at the halfway point!
Our guide Laurent was very nice, knowledgable and happy to share more about the history and his experience of Lanzarote and the Canary Islands. The scenic route is beautiful and surreal with a variety of natural landscapes. It is really pleasant to visit with a small group which makes the tour feel more private.
I reccomend this tour as with a 3 Hours walking you can feel and touch the vulcanie’ experience! Maria, our guide, was super clear and amazing in explanations - i really enjoyed it a lot
We had a good experience and a great day. You really need good shoes 😉 and of course enough space for fotos 😅
The pick up was smooth, the drive enjoyable the walk leisurely. It was fantastic entering the crater of the volcano and to see the Colorado volcano up close. Maria, our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was a very small group and was fun. Loved this tour!
Fabulous trek through Lanzarote’s volcanic past. Learning all about the land you are walking over. Wear good foot-ware for this trip. It was a small group so it was great to hear a local expert guide you all the way. Very happy with this choice.
totally loved the walk! our guide ...Laurence...was fantastic and very knowledgeable! scenery was AMAZING
Easy to book.. Quick response to a specific query.. Pick up at the time and place arranged.. All Covid safe.. Water, bananas and cereal bars provided.. Guides speaking multiple languages fluently..very impressive!! Medium difficulty walk with regular stops.. Sturdy foot wear a must.. Expert knowledge shared in an accessible number.. Great photography opportunities.. All in all a top experience and will recommend it without any hesitation Thank you!
Very informative trip, great guide Giacomo sharing history of how the volcanoes came to be.But be aware this trip involves a lot of walking over uneven volcanic rock and loose shale but worth it.
Nice and very interesting walk through the protected vulcanic park. Definately would recommend for people who like a walk. Good guide who took care of the people that had some difficulties with the (Fairly easy) path.
I really enjoyed the visit, Giacomo is very knowledgeable guide able to answer all questions we made. The only negative point was organization, for the meeting point they sent us the GPS coordinates but the guide was in another location this left us waiting and losing a lot of our time as we started very late. If it wasn’t for this i would definitely give them top mark.
An amazing trip to see the geology, flora and fauna of the volcanos of Lanzarote up close. The guide was extremely knowledgable about the rocks, pointing out Lava tubes and tunnels, fumaroles volcanic bombs with olivine crystals and explaining the history of the volcanic eruptions. It was great to be able to see it all up close. It was not a difficult walk for 3 hours.
My wife and I, enjoyed this treking-tour very much and it was one of the high lights of our visit to this island.
We were lucky enough to have an excellent guide! Nadine, passionate, made us discover the volcano park with great enthusiasm. She masters her subject perfectly and remains very attentive to everyone’s questions, despite a group a little too many (22 people...).
A wonderful walk in the volcanoes with a guide who taught us a lot about volcanoes, history and cultures. Many thanks to her and I recommend this activity
Randonnee de 9kms dans le parc des volcans accompagnée d'un guide sympathique. Descente dans le cratère.
In my review the most authentic Canary Island. The explosion of volcanoes gave lunar landscapes. Resorts without tall buildings.
Wonderful tour with Maria, really very suggestive the volcanic landscape .. it was beautiful to walk in the middle of what was once boiling lava!!!!! super recommended
Very nice 8km walk, nice guide with interesting explanations about the origin of Lanzarote, volcanoes, vegetation, landscape,...
The hike with Manuel through the lava sea and to the youngest and oldest volcano on the island was very nice. We have gained a lot of background knowledge about the volcanoes and the history of Lanzarote. Very impressive everything. Well organized and a thank you to Manuel. Andrea & Gisela
Superbe excursion. Guide très chouette qui connaît très bien son sujet. Je recommande fortement cette excursion
Nice walk very well organized .Laurent is a very friendly guide who knows his purpose well. We recommend this family excursion.
The visit was interesting and original. The weather in November accompanied. What resulted is an expensive pelin: 45 euros per head, no lunch included.
