Kolin Hotel Spa & Convention Center

5 star hotel - supposedly. Room, bathroom clean. I would say more a 3 star rating as 5 star you expect luxury bedding (only a large throw with a bottom sheet) and additional toiletries (shaving, tooth brush kits etc) - only extras, 2 earbuds. Bar, dining room staff polite - no problem there. The BIG issue - they obviously hire out their 8th floor for events and our room on the 6th floor had thumping disco music throbbing through it when we returned at 8.45pm (desk staff said this would be going on til midnight!). After complaining obviously we were moved to another room which had a dull thud but with our tv on and earplugs in we slept. Unbelievable!! In the morning when checking out my husband queried the situation and desk staff said “yes we get a lot of complaints”. 2 things- 1. Management wake up to your guests’ comfort and reputation of your hotel and 2. DO NOT stay here fellow review readers Ps we looked more closely at their reviews after this experience and saw others with same issue

We had a one night stay at this well appointed hotel. Excellent location and very well maintained. I even got a great hair wash and blow dry for a reasonable price which is rare for a 5 star hotel. So kudos for not price gouging! Ethical! Special thanks to Baris at the front desk for his amazing service and room upgrade. After a long day of travel it was lovely to be welcomed so warmly and to have a touch of class in every way. The dinner and breakfast buffets were very good. Once again we felt the incredible Turkish hospitality of staff.

There’s no way this place is 5 star. It’s a 3 star at best! Rooms dated, the AC don’t work. They held a concert outside ending at midnight with windows thumping. Walls paper thin an zero in room amentities. Centrally located and on the water is the only benefits. On top of the fact that no body speaks English. And the restaurants are lack lustre.

This is a great hotel to go to when you are on a long tour and want a good quality 5 star. The welcome was great and the front desk staff could not have been more helpful directing me to the underground parking for my bike, and then getting me and the bags to the room. That bit 5 star. I had traveled over 570km and wanted a shower. No hot water. What! I waited and waited and it started to get warm. Great I thought but no warm it stayed and not hot So warm enough just to do the business but not to have a long relaxing hot shower that every 5 star should offer. Then the TVs. Yes I had 2 and they offered mobile connection but then reported they were not connected to the internet. This is poor by modern standards and even 3 and 4 star hotels offer internet TVs and mobile connection. There is a nice bar area on the ground floor. It’s large and comfortable and the staff are good. But dinner. Gosh that’s when you realise this is bus tour paradise. I had been told dinner started at 7 but when I entered at 7 the place was packed with the customers of the tour company. There was basically nowhere for a single customer to go. I had noticed that there was another restaurant à la carte in the basement. I entered and was told group dinners are upstairs. The waiter seemed astonished that I wasn’t with a tour and was prepared to pay for my dinner. I was the only customer the whole time I was there. Food was ok. Not 5 star. The ‘spa’ is worth noting. I had a massage which was really fantastic. It’s a team from Indonesia and they are extremely good Last thing it’s worth paying for a room with a view of the Bosporus as it’s a wonderful sunset view on a clear day
