We had a throughly enjoyable morning/afternoon finding all the dinky doors! And discovering parts of cambridge we hadn't walked through before! As well as realising that we had innocently walked past several of the doors without even knowing! Would recommend this to any age range!

Something appears to be behind this next door trying to get out... could it be our glorious leader?

The doors were excellent and relatively easy to spot. My three grandchildren, my son and I visited some of the doors in central Cambridge. It was a fun afternoon. I bought the online version and the map was quite difficult to follow on the phone's small screen as it kept jumping around. Also a knowledge of street names in Cambridge was required. It would have been easier if there was a trail outlined which could be joined or left at any point, rather than just pins on a map
We loved this - having looked all around Cambridge centre over the previous days with "proper" sightseeing, this was a really fun way to keep kids entertained for a few hours. We especially enjoyed the dinky ice creams and the hot chocolate shop near the rocket. Hilarious, subversive, cute.
Really fun experience and got to see bits of Cambridge that you would have missed. Great that you can do it at your own pace in no set order. Only minor downside is that the interactive map seems a little bit temperamental at times and needs to be open and closed to re verify your location.
Fantastic day out with the grandchildren
Great activity to do inbetween shopping, eating, studying.
I bought the map online and it was not user friendly and hard to find the best route to see the house. I only manage to find 3 with my kids
We had a great time walking all around Cambridge, finding the doors and reading about them using the online self-guided tour. The kids never complained about the distance they had to walk, but were excited to use to the map to navigate and find each next door on the tour. A fantastic activity for families and adults alike.
Fabulous way to take my son around Cambridge on a bike
I accompanied my 11 year old grandson while his mum went shopping, on a busy touristy Saturday, on the tour. It gave us purpose and delight! His favourite was where we started, the Wonder Emporium, whilst mine was the one by Trinity college. The next day we found the Bean Stalk In St Thomas's Square - has to be the best! We have yet to finish, but we both loved it and send thanks and praise to you for making it so fascinating
I found searching for the doors a fun way to wander the city and take in its sites along the way! I found it whimsical and joyful to see their existence be passed and unnoticed by so many people, knowing I had been one of those people just the day before! Each door is such a treasure; so creative and well crafted! I wish more cities had this!
Or was fun living in a dinky world for an morning. We learnt lots and stepped through the doors to the other side. It was crazy time. We would definitely do it all again..
Was a great way to explore the city. Definitely leans towards younger children but my 10 year old still enjoyed navigating on the map. The doors were works of art!
Nice idea but interactive mapping terrible. We gave up after finding 2 doors.
Surprising cute and baautiful creations! We love it! 🤍🐏
This was a fun way to see Cambridge and the little doors were really creative. The £8.50 app was good value but I have to say the 'interactive map' was frustrating and difficult to use. But we persevered and saw all but two of the doors - when we couldn't work out the map the locals were really helpful and knew exactly where they were and were enthusiastic about is being on the trail. This is a great way to spend a day in Cambridge and I fully recommend.
It was a good experience and amazed to find them in places where I've walked past many times but never noticed they were there. Using the map on a phone wasn't always great as sometimes it was a bit glitchy to load and had to start again but it may have been because of the lack of mobile reception when walking around the centre of the city? All in all an enjoyable afternoon experience with friends but we only ticked off nine doors so plenty more to see! The University bookshop had strategically placed the Dinky Doors book in the window above the Dinky Door so that gave us an excuse to go in to take a look...
Fun activity to do with little ones around Cambridge. Some of them are further out and need a car.
It would be great but not on a mobile phone. The map just isn’t clear enough, it was almost impossible to tell how far apart they were. One of them was nowhere near the centre of Cambridge. By the time we had walked there, we had become quite discouraged, it wasn’t one of the best ones. We found a second one by accident as I realised we were in Downing Street. Trying to find the third one proved impossible and all two far apart so gave up. It was so cheap to buy I wasn’t bothered about missing out. I will definitely order the physical package to see if it’s any clearer. I would have preferred a physical route to follow as on a mobile they all looked close and walkable round, in reality, that’s definitely not the case.
I loved the idea of it and thought it would be a good way to explore Cambridge. We did 4 and then gave up. Overall, the digial map wasnt tge easiest to navigate and the write up for each point part real, part fantasy. It just didnt make a lot of sense. Would i do it again with young children? Maybe. Overall, not the experience Id hoped for.
Brilliant, relaxed and interesting fun day out. Loved exploring the centre of Cambridge at the same time.
I absolutely loved the Dinky Doors self‑guided tour in Cambridge. It’s one of those experiences that makes you slow down, look closer, and appreciate the city in a completely new way. Each tiny door is packed with charm, creativity, and a surprising amount of detail—you can tell how much love goes into them. The trail itself is easy to follow, and wandering through Cambridge while hunting for these miniature masterpieces is half the fun. Every time I found a new door, it felt like discovering a little secret hidden in plain sight. Some made me laugh, some made me think, and all of them made the walk more magical. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this is such a unique way to explore the city. Highly recommend for families, couples, solo wanderers, or anyone who enjoys a bit of whimsy. A brilliant, uplifting experience.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We are from Lisbon, Portugal, and this experience started completely by accident. While walking through a garden in Cambridge, my husband spotted a tiny door at the base of the Reality Checkpoint lamp post. We stopped, smiled, and immediately wondered: where could this possibly come from? That single little door sparked our curiosity. A few quick searches later, we discovered Dinky Doors, and just like that, our walk turned into an adventure. What we loved most is that this isn’t just a “tour”, it’s an invitation to slow down, look closer, and see the city with different eyes. Each door feels thoughtful, playful and perfectly placed, blending imagination with Cambridge’s character. We managed to find almost all of the doors, missing only two of the more distant ones, not because of the tour, but simply because time ran out. And honestly, that only made us smile, knowing there are still a couple of little secrets waiting for a future visit. As visitors, it gave us something special that no traditional guide could offer: surprise, joy, and that childlike feeling of discovery. It made our time in Cambridge feel personal and memorable. We highly recommend Dinky Doors to anyone who enjoys exploring, storytelling, and finding magic in small details. Sometimes, the best experiences really do start with a tiny door.🙂 🪄
The dinky doors are great but the website for the tour is rubbish - a waste of money. The website wouldn’t load easily and wasn’t very mobile friendly.
Such a fun idea! I have absolutely loved hunting these down over my last few visits to the city. Only 2 left to find on out next visit!
The doors are very cute, and my 9 year old daughter enjoyed finding them - it made a "boring walk" more lively! It would be really helpful if there were a suggested walking route available, joining up the various spots in a simple way. They aren't all that close together, so if you have a small person with you, don't expect to tick them all off at once. We managed 8 in one walk.
We had a great day searching for the Dinky Doors while taking in the sights of Cambridge! What fun and super for our step count!!
A nice experience to help explore the city. Map was not very interactive but it was so fun spotting the doors. The family enjoyed it. Might be worth getting the paper map.
I wish I would have found this little tour sooner! Although I didn’t have enough time to see every door, it was still great fun! I loved the artistry of each door, and how each was hidden in plain sight! What a great way to explore the streets of Cambridge!
We, my familiy and I, spent our summer holidays in Cambridge this year. Dinky doors gave us a great experience. It was fun for the kids as well as for us parents to explore the city in this very special way.
A fun way to explore parts of Cambridge on foot with the grandchildren. The children loved finding each door and hearing the back stories too. So inventive!
Such fun, we looked for the doors while walking between museums and other attractions. They are so well done. Miniature works of art.
We ordered the map and cards as an activity our 3 grandchildren, aged 5, 6 and 7, They really enjoyed looking at the map and taking turns to hold the cards to look for the next door. As it was a really hot day we only found 9 ending on Parkers Piece for a picnic. They really can't wait to spend another day finding the doors a little further a field. A fabulous outdoor activity. I really hope there'll be more doors added
Had the best day with my friend searching for Dinky Doors in Cambridge. We drove to the furthest away ones first and then finished searching for the others on foot in the city. Cambridge looked beautiful in the sunshine and the Dinky Doors were imaginatively crafted - each one was different and quite incredible in the best dinky kind of way!!
This was a fun experience searching for these little doors, it probably took us down a couple of streets we may not have gone down. We didn't quite complete them all as apart from catching the train we had no reason to go to that part of Cambridge. The back stories of the doors on the app were fun too. My friend and I enjoyed this and we'd recommend it totally.
Highly recommend! We were in Cambridge for the weekend with two teenagers, and we wanted to create some variety for them. They LOVED this. We found all of the doors on foot except for the two that are really far outside of Cambridge. It was a great way to explore Cambridge with a twist. It wasn’t expensive, and we were able to break it up and find the doors at our own pace.
Very poor no contact with anyone. On the end I bought the book which was excellent on the Diddy Doors map and pictures included.
The kids said this was on the top of their favorite things in Cambridge! Super cute and guided us on nice walks through the city! Sometimes the connection to the map was spotty.
Bought the digital map for £1 which was good to give an idea of where the doors were though some lane names you have to deduce yourself which is easy enough. Each ‘door’ is so detailed and a mini sculpture/piece of art and not just a door like we initially presumed.
Who knew that women of a certain age needed Dinky Doors! We only found a few as we were side tracked with shopping, etc, but the ones that we did find made us all smile with delight. We will be back to do the complete tour at a later date.
Our favourite was the Dinky Door on Riverside, but we didnt manage to see them all. Plenty left for a second trip. We were amazed how well built they are and sturdy, although some could do with a wash and brush up and one had weeds growing in it. It was a good challenge and a nice way to see more of the city. Thank you.
Great fun to do with the family of any age group (non-elderly) on a dry day. There is quite a bit of walking involved. It does require some effort to navigate the map as the starting point is always from the recommended starting point. However, one you figure out how to change the start / end points then its easy to follow. Half of the doors are in one area of the city and the other half is about 30mins walk away so, if you only have half a day in the city, you will not be able to get to all the doors. It was not necessary to pay for all participants as the cost should only be for one map rather than the whole group! Just pay for one person and load it up on phone of the phones.
A lovely way in to exploring the city, especially with children. I liked that it wasn’t prescriptive and that you could follow in whatever order made sense to your day! Only got through a handful of doors as we got distracted by other things, but will definitely carry on another time.
We enjoyed this tour. We didn’t have time to complete them all but bought the app for £8.50. You can also buy a map for a donation. It was fun finding the doors and the stories made us smile. Thank you for a fun afternoon.
I wanted to explore cambridge solo and thought this would be a fun, intresting way to do it. The website was easy to use, directions were easy using Google maps and great stories behind each one.
Amazing tour with beautiful little structures. We did the digital tour (via app). The stories were very passionate and sentimental.
It is such fun to search out these great pieces of minuture stree art. They're made really well, and an adventure is always a good time.
With a day to fill between hospital appointments at Addenbrookes (and not being allowed to eat) this tour was an absolute life saver. My son and I had the most fabulous time hunting for doors. He absolutely loved all the detail and searching for clues. The story really captured his imagination and what could have been a really tricky miserable day turned into a day we'll remember for a very long time. Searching for each door helped us spot things in each neighbourhood that we just wouldn't have seen otherwise and whenever we stopped to take photos, it was lovely to help other people discover the doors too.
This was a very fun thing to do around the centre of Cambridge with a nine year old on a damp day in November. Great for kids to learn some orienteering skills and we loved the back stories for each of the doors.
This is such a good way to tour the city - it'll take you to places you may not have otherwise visited (I'm looking at you Cambridge Museum of Technology) and you get to see some amazing works of art (dinky doors) at the same time ❤
