##IMPORTANT: this option must be selected as an upgrade of the walking tour ticket. Please, make sure that you select it. The duration of the visit is a basic approximation, but you can leave the chapel when you prefer.
Get a student's perspective on the practice of the public announcement of grades, and get a glimpse into the particular traditions of the University of Cambridge while you hear about the graduation ceremony.
After experiencing the above (and more!) on the walking tour, take a short break before heading to Scudamore's Mill Lane punting station. Your punting tour will begin 2 hours after the start of the walking tour if you have not purchased access to King's College Chapel, or 3 hours after the start if you have purchased access to the Chapel.
Sit back and appreciate your excellent view of the bridge that somehow manages to get a graceful arch from a series of straight timbers!
Following the walking tour, you will be punted along the River Cam past 8 colleges and 9 bridges while your local student-guide explains famous Cambridge history and anecdotes about each landmark. Start your tour by gazing upon the Georgian and Victorian architecture of the college with strong connections to the family of Charles Darwin, one of the most famous alumni of the University of Cambridge, while hearing your guide relay some of the fascinating history of the college, university and city.
Admire the stunning Gothic architecture of King's College and its Neoclassical neighbour, the Gibbs Building — one of the most famous colleges in the University of Cambridge — from a new perspective.
Listen to your chauffeur describe the second-oldest surviving college of the University, which was one of the first to accept women as undergraduate students.
Learn about the history of the most prestigious college of Cambridge, located in one of the most beautiful meanders of the Cam, all while relaxing as your chauffeur punts you expertly along the river.
Relate to Queen Victoria as you look upon the bridge that was said to be one of her favourite spots in the city!
Complete your tour of the College Backs with Magdalene, known as one of the most traditional of the colleges. Make the most of these last few minutes to ask your knowledgeable guide any final questions to satisfy your curiosity! After this stop, the punt will return to the punt station you left from.

We accidentally booked our tour for the wrong day, but Sam was incredibly kind and helpful. He helped us reschedule our tour. That really saved our time and money. We really appreciated his kindness and excellent customer service :)
I joined the tour on 28 October 2026. My tour guide, Chris, is a Cambridge alumnus, and his first-hand knowledge made the experience interesting and authentic. He shared fascinating insights into the university’s history, famous alumni, Cambridge’s Nobel Prize winners and traditions. His funny stories made the tour informative and entertaining. Chris was friendly, approachable and very knowledgeable, and he also recommended must-see attractions to explore independently after the tour. I would highly recommend him to anyone visiting Cambridge. The punting was another highlight—a wonderful Cambridge experience that is definitely worth trying.
We had a wonderful time with John! He had a great mix of history and inside stories.
We learned a lot and had fun. We loved our guide. He was knowledgeable, friendly, charming and funny. We were sorry when the tour ended.
Chris was an excellent guide, proud of his college, and eager to share about it. Having a recent graduate as our guide was a special touch to a great tour.
Sophia is incredible! So knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended
Lovely walking tour with Elsie and great punting with Guy. Just enough history and facts balanced with calm walking and relaxing. Punting on a sunny blue sky day is incredible!
The tour was good. A nice mixture of history and an insight into the workings of the university and the daily life of students there. Kings College chapel and the punting option were also excellent.
K Noah was a very knowledgeable guide. Excellent tour
Most interesting and enlightening tour, ideal for our first visit to Cambridge. Our guide Dr John F. gave us numerous historical facts during the tour, stopping at the key places of interest. His explanations were always very clear. He readily answered our many questions.
This historical tour with Kings and punting trip is such a lovely introduction to Cambridge. It definitely gives you the true Cambridge experience! Dr John was also very informative and we enjoyed it all very much - thank you!
Thankfully, the weather was glorious. Our guide, Matthew, is a recent Cambridge alumnus and was full of insights and anecdotes, besides being well-informed about the details of the stops on the tour. He was a superb guide.
Mia, our walking tour guide, was exceptional. We learned so much about the history of the university. Charlie, our punter, also shared information and stories that were entertaining. Overall an extremely professional and engaging afternoon well spent.
We did the cambridge walking tour. Our guide, Mia was a very knowledgeable and an amazing tour guide. 100% recommend.
We did the walking tour followed immediately by punting. The walking tour was a nice overview of the university and 90 minutes was sufficient, although I suspect the minimum to cover so much. The tour guide is an alum and now retired teacher, informed, and engaging. There were 8 in our group so a nice size. Most colleges are closed to non-affiliated so it's along the outside of several of them, but his stories about each are illuminating. Punting was fun and the views along the backs are unbeatable, although some of the historical facts are the same as on the walking tour. Our punter was humorous and engaging. Overall it's a little pricey, but when else are you going to do this. Just pay it and enjoy - as we did. Worth doing.
We did an excellent tour with Rob, who was extremely knowledgeable and displayed both good pace of information and great wit. Highly recommendable. The Kings college chapel and punting we did separately at different times.
Our guide John was excellent and provided great information about the Cambridge sites we visited on the walking tour. The punting part of the tour was something not to be missed.
I did the ~1.5 hour Cambridge tour with Mia. Great tour and Mia was the best tour guide. It was a walking tour, and we were able to see about 8 colleges. Mia gave background on all the colleges, with a nice mix of historical facts as well as more modern descriptions of life at Cambridge. Would recommend this tour if you are in the area!
What a stunning campus! Our guide Madhawi was friendly, informative and approachable! Definitely worth the time to learn about such a storied institution. Thank you and we would highly recommend the tour.
Wonderful tour, a great welcome to Cambridge! Very knowledgeable guides. Francisco was superb. Highly recommend walking tour, cathedral and punting combo.
Steve was outstanding and so full of knowledge and stories about Cambridge. We totally enjoyed the tour and the Punting. Highly recommend it. Thank you for a fabulous day.
Great knowledge and interesting facts during the tour easy walking and so much to see. Enjoyed the tour guides banter
Learned so much about the history of these university colleges in one day, much more engaging than any online/internet research. Our walk tour guide was Evelyn, she was very enthusiastic and made me want to go back to my college years. Our punt boat tour guide was a rock star, though she didn't mention her name. She was both steering boat and doing standup comedy! It was a very relaxed ride the entire boat, no awkwardness at all.
I did this tour with a girl name Victoria, she is an amazing person and really explained really well all the history. All in Spanish, she respond to every question we had with such a kindness.I would rate this tour with the highest rate.
A fun walking and punting tour which shared the history and some of the fascinating quirks behind this famous institution.
An Excellent Cambridge Tour with Chris We had a wonderful experience with Cambridge Alumni Tours. Our guide, Chris, was exceptional—knowledgeable, engaging and genuinely passionate about Cambridge. He explained the University’s history, collegiate system and traditions clearly, while bringing the buildings and famous figures to life through fascinating stories. He was also friendly, patient and excellent at answering questions, making the tour enjoyable for our whole family. Chris truly made our visit to Cambridge memorable. Highly recommended!

John F (Dr John) led a great and informative tour. The Punting add on is a must.
I went on the walking tour with my wife and 11yr son and our guide was Dr John. We all really enjoyed it. John was very knowledgeable and made the tour very entertaining. He was very open to answering any questions and gave really good insights and background knowledge about the colleges and the local landmarks and history of Cambridge. I finished the walk feeling really inspired and wishing I was young enough to go back to Uni and study again.

Excellent tour from start to finish, tour guides on both the walking section and the river punting were extremely informative. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, tour group size was just right and the time spent at each location worked well.
Evelyn was brilliant. A natural people person with great story telling and, of course, very knowledgeable about Cambridge & Oxford universities, collegiate life and academic departments. Sunny weather also made for a fabulous punting experience at Scudamore’s, with an equally fantastic guide. A day well spent, hosting international friends/colleagues.
