Notified the night before the tour of pick up time and location confirmed. Pick up was perfectly organised with a text being received just before the car arrived. Our guide - Hassan Karem and driver - Mahmoud Khalid were excellent. Hassan was very knowledgeable and helpful and did a good job in promoting both Cairo and Egypt as a holiday destination. Mahmoud was a brilliant driver and I take my hat off to him driving in the traffic, which needs to be seen to be believed. Tour included stops at the new Egyptian museum, the Citadel of Saladin, Mosque of Muhammad Ali and Khan Al-Khalili Bazaar. There was also stops at an oils shop and a papyrus shop where you are under no obligation to buy anything. At all stops we were accompanied by Hassan who provided the history and showed us round all the key spots to ensure we saw everything. Time to explore on your own is also provided and this was sufficient to ensure you saw what you wanted. In all a very worthwhile trip which I would recommend.

The Citadel of Cairo or Citadel of Saladin (Arabic: قلعة صلاح الدين Qalaʿat Salāḥ ad-Dīn) is a medieval Islamic-era fortification in Cairo, Egypt, built by Salah ad-Din (Saladin) and further developed by subsequent Egyptian rulers. It was the seat of government in Egypt and the residence of its rulers for nearly 700 years from the 13th to the 19th centuries. Its location on a promontory of the Mokattam hills near the center of Cairo commands a strategic position overlooking the city and dominating its skyline. At the time of its construction, it was among the most impressive and ambitious military fortification projects of its time. It is now a preserved historic site, including mosques and museums.
The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, known commonly as the Egyptian Museum or Museum of Cairo, in Cairo, Egypt, is home to an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities. It has 120,000 items, with a representative amount on display, the remainder in storerooms. Built in 1901 by the Italian construction company Garozzo-Zaffarani to a design by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon, the edifice is one of the largest museums in the region. As of March 2019, the museum is open to the public. In 2020 the museum is due to be superseded by the new Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza.
one of the most beautiful mosque in Cairo it`s located inside the Citadel of Cairo
Khan el-Khalili (Arabic: خان الخليلي) is a famous bazaar and souq (or souk) in the historic center of Cairo, Egypt. The bazaar district is one of Cairo's main attractions for tourists and Egyptians alike. It is also home to many Egyptian artisans and workshops involved in the production of traditional crafts and souvenirs.

Our tour guide Ahmed was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The driver Sayed bravely and safely piloted us through the crazy Cairo traffic. I think the highlight of the trip was the visit to the two mosques in the citadel, along with the friendly discussion with Ahmed about the cultural and religious beliefs and practices. A wonderful learning experience. As expected, the Egyptian museum was fascinating, made even better with Ahmed’s insightful explanation of what we were seeing. The Khan el-Khalili Bazaar was interesting, but pretty much full of the Chinese mass-produced trinkets you can find at any tourist spot. The highlight here was enjoying a Turkish coffee break with Ahmad and watching the crowds go by.
Our guide, a woman (Iman? Didn’t get her name properly) who brought her younger sister along, had basically no knowledge about the artifacts at the museums, she also did not explain anything about the citadel or the mosque we visited. Our guide did not speak English well, it was such a bad tour in terms of learning anything about the culture and history of country. I would not recommend this tour, there was no point in spending money for a guide who wasn’t able to tell us anything. The driver on the other hand was pretty good.
Overall trip was cool BUT a few things I didn’t like- driver didn’t hold a sign in the hotel lobby like the instructions said they would, instead he waited outside but we didn’t know that. He walked inside and saw my partner and I all ready for the trip but didn’t say anything. Just walked to the reception desk, spoke to the hotel reception man and walked back out. We contacted them on WhatsApp and he was there the whole time. Said we had to tip later him for waiting that long for us. Driver was very pushy with the tips. We tipped out of being pressured, not out of gratitude. They took us to the ‘oil factory’ which lured us into making us buy perfume/ oils which is a minimum of $40USD. I tried telling the man no thank you but he didn’t take no for an answer. They also took us to the papyrus institute, was cool to learn about papyrus but they also tried to make us buy their items. Felt very uncomfortable in both places. These two options were NOT on the itinerary. As for the guide, he was a very lovely man. Very funny and outgoing man. Knowledgeable but hard to understand most of the time in English.
We booked this tour and Hala was our tour guide. She was wonderful. We started at the Khan el Khalili in the morning for shopping before it got busy, then we went to the Mosque, the Citadel, and had lunch which was great. Went to a papyrus shop and jewelry shop. Hala took pictures with us and of us with beautiful backgrounds. We did miss the Egyptian Museum which closes at 430pm because we ran into heavy traffic. Hala did make it up to us and added a boat ride. Had a great experience starting from hotel pick-up up until hotel drop-off. Thank You Hala and Mohammed, our driver.
Rana was my tour guide, she explained things well and gave me time to explore the museum and Citadel. But she rushed me at the Khan khalili market as i was trying to do some shopping. Also she was kind of complaining the driver about why i delayed at the market and he was smiling. Also when we went to lunch, i asked her if there were any Indian or Chinese restaurants, then she said no and she smiled looking at her driver, so he smiled too. The driver was passing comments when asked to turn on AC or increase AC. All this was unpleasant and unprofessional. Though we don't understand the language, we can understand the context and gestures. They need proper training on how to behave. Even after all this, i tipped them. Apart from these things, tour was decent.
Overall a good experience to explore the Citadel, Egyptian Museum of Antiquities and the main market. The museum is a must between the 3 museums in Cairo and the experience of seeing the Treasures of Tutankhamun is amazing. His Mask, 2 coffins (inner coffin made of Gold of 110 kg, and outer coffin which was gilded), Throne are truly special. Also amazing are the 2 mummies of his grandparents and are very well preserved - you can see their faces, hair and even nails in tact. Remember the Mummy of Tutankhamun is not here but in Luxor.
My guide was knowledgeable about the artifacts in the museum and Egyptian history. She answered all my questions and made sure I had a pleasant experience throughout the day, taking pictures and making jokes. The driver drop off and pick up was easy, and ticket entry was frictionless. Read ahead on the bazaar and have some idea what you want to shop for or do there. I enjoyed that part of the tour less than I probably could have because I felt we were just wandering aimlessly and the shopping/haggling was not fun since I didn't know what would be a fair price on the items I bought. But it is very cool there and worth seeing.
Excellent guidance by Abdul! Loved it! All the places were majestic! Travelled maximum locations at my own pace.
We booked the VIP tour. The tour was very knowledgeable and friendly and offered to buy us sugar cane juice. Not very expensive but it was a nice gesture. He was also always happy to help take any pictures. We took our time a bit in the museum because there was so much to see and never felt rushed by the guide. He explained all of the highlights. 4/5 However, we were ready at our hotel and ended up waiting for an hour for the driver. The tour company claimed that the driver hit traffic, however, the guide ended up informing us that the driver had actually had a late night and woke up late. 2/5
The lady that help us through the tour was very very good. She explained everything and since we are older she was very accommodating with us we will recommend this tour to everybody.
It was a great experience for me and my family. Emma was very intelligent guide. She was so kindly . Thank you for today. Also out driver was very professional
We had the most amazing morning with our lovely guide Sahar. She was so knowledgeable and accommodating.
Really enjoyed our tour to the Museum, Citadel and Market. Our guide was a history teacher and a fountain of knowledge. He really was a great asset to the trip. We learnt so much. The driver was great fun too and was alway cracking jokes with my mum and we had a great time. He was a very skilled driver which is needed in Egypt.
Enjoyed this tour very much. Guide was extremely patient, fun and very knowledgeable. Would recommend
The tour of the museum and the citadel was amazing. Our tour guide Manar was the best and so knowledgable of all the best things to do and see in Cairo. She was fantastic! I would recommend doing this after the pyramids as most of the history is a continuation of life in Cairo post the pharaohs. Definitely a must see!
The tour is perfect for a small family. We had a private vehicle and an excellent guide. Fatima from Emo tours was the best guide we could ask for. She tailored our tour according to what we wanted to do and had extensive knowledge of ancient Egypt and other sites. She was also kind enough to show us the best cafés and transport options in downtown Cairo
Our tour guide Yusuf was amazing! He was very knowledgeable and incredibly kind. We had such a great time exploring the city and discussing Egyptian history. I would definitely recommend this tour!
Wow. Where do I start? If I could give this 100/100 I would! Maharan was simply amazing! I can see why everyone talks about him in their reviews. If you want an expert on knowledge, and someone who is just one of the most amazing human beings I have ever met! Let me get into detail! First of all he was already on time waiting at the hotel outside for us with a very nice, very clean car. He had water for us as well so we didn’t get dehydrated. We had such an amazing time at the museum seeing all the history and he had so much knowledge to share with us about the museum and Cairo itself after the tour. He also had amazing music and it felt like I was hanging out with my friends back home just dancing and smiling. His energy is contagious. Always positive always smiling! I would love to call him a friend but now I can definitely call him my brother habibi!!! He told us about himself and wanted to get to know my wife and I. He offered to take us wherever, whenever we wanted. He even took us to the airport because we just loved him so much and didn’t want to leave without saying goodbye. His driving skills are smooth and impeccable also!! If you want someone who makes you feel at home and like family, maharan is the man. If you want someone who knows Egypt and all about the history, maharan is your man. If you want to be uplifted and have positive vibes and a smile, maharan is the man. We are going to Aswan, Luxor, and hurghada now. We fly back to Cairo for one day, and guess who I am going to see. Maharan. My friend. My brother. After just one day. Wow. I cannot wait to see you again maharan and I hope you continue to spread love and laughter with everyone who has the pleasure to meet you!!! DO NOT MISS OUT!!!
Excellent tour, Doha the guide was very profesional, and the driver excellent. Definitely I would recommend this tour to everyone. Thanks for a wonderful day
Fantastic day! Tour guide picked us up from our hotel and spent the entire day with us. Museum and Citadel were amazing. Tour guide was extremely nice and well educated in every aspect of Egyptian history. Memorable day!
This tour is a great way to see the Museum, Citadel and Bazaar in one day. Our guide Essam Aly was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Having him explain the historical significance in the Museum and Citadel was great. It was a pleasure having Essam Ally being our guide for all of our 3 tours in Cairo.
We first went to Citadel of Salah el Din to look at the Cairo skyline and see this magnificent structure. There are over 120,000 items in the museum dating from prehistoric times to Greco Roman periods. The Gold Mask of Tutankhamen is here as well you can go into the Mummy Room.
We were picked up from hotel by our guide and driver from Emo Tours. Driver was polite and drove the van smoothly in not easy traffic Our guide Dina was very knowledgeable! She knows different periods of Egyptian history very well and could answer many questions we asked. Very thankful we had her for the tour ! Highly recommend this tour to all visitors of Cairo.
The guide was basic and is fine to escort you from A to B. If you want to learn about the context/history of Cario and the associated sites on the tour, this will fall flat.
Haney was a wonderful tour guide- very knowledgeable and quite insightful. We were happy to have him as our connection to Cairo.
What a cool experience. We were in Egypt and did the pyramids the day before and then the museums. We switched out the souks for the new national civilization museum. This is the newest museum with the find of the latest artifacts. Lots you see that you are unable to photograph. So if you’re into mummy’s this is the museum to go to. Our guide was a lovely, smart and articulate archaeology students in Cairo. She’s very knowledgeable, a lot of history, and you learn a lot about everything. I would highly recommend this tour!
Marwa was one of the best tour guides I've ever had. She is super knowledgable about Egyptian history, very kind and very patient. She was super flexible in how we wanted the day to run and provided excellent suggestions to make the experience even more enjoyable. We had so much fun with Marwa we didn't want the day to end. The museum was beautiful and had actual mummies! The history of the mosques is so rich. This is a great tour to learn about Egypt and even better with Marwa as your guide 😊
Mahmoud Mahran with Emo made sure my husband and I had an unforgettable time in Cairo. We booked a return transfer to the Red Sea and were lucky enough to get Mahmoud as our driver. He went out of his way to show us unique and unforgettable sites and made the 6 hour trip fly by. We booked Mahmoud again for a tour of downtown Cairo. Exploring Cairo with Mahmoud was so much better than exploring on our own. We felt we had a best friend to show us all the local spots. I highly recommend Mahmoud to anyone traveling to Egypt and look forward to coming back soon!
Things started a little rocky because there wasn’t good communication from the tour company on the pick up time. BUT, Hadeer more than made up for the company’s error. I needed to customize this tour to meet the needs of some elders in my group. Hadeer was super flexible and made sure that we did exactly what we wanted to do. Yusuf was our driver and he was so nice! I asked him for assistance several times when communicating with locals and he was so gracious. When it came to learning about Egypt, Hadeer was amazing. She knows A LOT! She started the tour explaining the history of Egypt and how that relates to the places that we were going to visit. I learned so much in a short period of time! If you want to learn about Egypt and have a great time doing it - Hadeer is your person!
I have rated this trip low for a couple of reasons. The guide and driver were punctual and on time. The guide was the same one we took for the the Giza pyramids Tour. However, the quality of the tour was different on both the days. The tour when booked claims to be an 8 hour tour. However, it was concluded in 4 hours. That is misleading. The guide and the Driver, in order to speed up the tour for their convenience took us to the Khan-Al-Khalili market at 8am in the morning and when the entire market was still closed although it was scheduled for later in the day according to the itinerary. He claimed that this is a useless market filled with junk when it opens up and there was nothing interesting about it. We should've been the judge of that and not the guide, we hardly spent any time there. The tour guide took us around the museum promptly and explained pretty well. However he was always in a hurry. There were guides from other agencies who were calm and took time to explain to their customers. Our guide decided what was important and what not and finished our tour of such a huge museum in 1 hour. Post that he gave us some time to look around and asked us to tell exactly when we would be finished. He seemed to be in a hurry through out the tour. We started at 8 am and we're done by 12:30pm-1:00pm.
Very well organised private tour. We discovered the highlights of downtown Cairo and learnt about Egyptian history. A special thanks to our guide Soad!
After we had a bad day on Sunday, I decided to specifically ask another agency for a female guide. the day was very nice and Souad was very competent in the historical explanations which gave me relief and confidence in the guide. At Khan el kalili Souad left us behind and did not show any stores when i asked to take us to fixed price ones that i researched on the internet. I specifically asked for a store for cartouche. Souad said she could recommend a factory with Good price. 1. said silver one was 30 usd and gave me the photos to choose from 2. asked me not to speak in front of the driver, because the tour operator is oblied to take us to specific stores where they earn commission 3. my mother was interested in gold model and she said she would negotiate for us. 4. asked 350 usd for the gold model 5. Said the man she knew would deliver it to us to the hotel at night and asked us not to talk to him. just with her. Só i don t have name or contact 6. the man came to the hotel and gave it to us. the gold one looked like a sheet of paper with no gold stamp. 7. Of course They did not returned Our money. Souad Said She is Sorry and is not going to treat with him anymore. What happens is that we feel like idiots. sad. after you create an emotional link here it seems that people are going to financially abuse you. unfortunately the last point of the trip was the feeling of not returning to Egypt. and to recommend that those who come do not buy. do not negotiate. very sad. you believe that agencies will provide you with great guides and that you can trust them. Be careful.
Wahed the. Driver and Mohammad the guide were great. We visited Coptic churches, mosques and the citadel which was all very interesting. Our guide was very knowledgeable.
Ahmed and his driver, Wahid, were very good and made us feel welcome. Ahmed was extremely well informed and knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information. A lot was fitted in and at times that made for a rush of activity. A couple of the visits to shops were unwanted and really irrelevant and we would have preferred more time in the museum! The shop visits are only a source of pressure to buy!!
A tour guide can often make or break an experience. Our guide was pretty distant, and hands-off. I felt that he could have given much more information about Cairo, and the trip to Khan Khalili basically consisted of a trip to his friend’s shop. He did do a good job at the Cairo Museum. All in all, though, I felt a little short-changed.
Sara our tour guide was amazing we had so much fun touring Cairo. She was very knowledgeable and super nice. I have to say everyone in Egypt has been so welcoming and nice. We went to the market it was a fun experience. We have been doing two days tours with Emo Tours company I have nothing but good things to say. Very professional on time and they make you feel safe and at home. I would come back any day. honeymoon was unforgettable thank you Egypt and Emo Tours.
Spend the day with tour guide Sayed Mahmoud. He was very thorough, informative, friendly and enthusiastic. He took some great pics and would definately recommend and book him again.
It was a great day exploring the Egyptian museum, the Citadel and Khan El Khalili. Our guide Khalaf was so kind and friendly. He answered every question! Even our driver (sorry I don’t have the name) was lovely. I highly recommend this experience!
Perfect tour. My tour guide Ahmed Mahmoud and the driver and Mohammad Hassen gave us a great time. Ahmed is a very nice guy, speaks very fluent English and, and bring us to all best places in Cairo. He guided us to the most important place to see in every stop. He also offers us a lot of help for our personal needs. Restaurant was great too. Strongly recommend this tour!
The guide ahmed although good person had limited knowledge. Generally i have taken two tours with the same co. You always feel u paid less but also have received similar sub stanard product. I dont really recommend the tour with the same co.
Such amazing experience with the Guide Essam. We spent 7 days in Egypt and unfortunatelly we meet him only in the last day. Essam is very kind, speak a great english and a real guide that can tell you a lot about everthing in Egypt. He also helped us buying things by very fair prices and showed us the best of Cairo. Also the restaurant included is very delicious. I am brazilian used to very travel and with high standards of service and rank him with five stars. We had very disgusting experience with another guides in Luxor and Aswan, so strongly recommend you try to get the best like Essam from Emo Tours.
It was our second tour in a row with Afifi and Muhammad and they were so great. Highly highly recommend to anyone. Great value! Afifi helped with whatever he could. For example, I needed a SIM card so they took the time to bring me to a Vodafone and Afifi helped me through the process of buying.
Our guide seemed to be knowledgeable and provided a great insight into the history of the Pharaohs. The tour included lunch at a nice restaurant with great food but slow service. The tour company should take this into account as time on the tour is limited and previous. The slow service at the restaurant cost us in terms of getting less time to explore the Khan El Khalili market at leisure. The tour plan didn’t include enough time for us to take a few pictures at every location. This is something the tour operator must look into as people would definitely want to stop to take pictures on a holiday. Another important negative point is that although the tour specifically mentioned that bottled water is included in the tour price, water was not provided.
Absolutely incredible tour with the best guide! We would highly recommend this tour if you’re visiting Cairo!
Had the best day out with tour guide Ola, she was super insightful, showed me the Egyptian Museum and Citadel at my own pace. She is funny and an excellent photographer 😉 Highly recommend this tour and Ola!!!
The cairo museum awesomeness has such extensive history inside the tour guide highly recommend knowledge was excellent and incredibly helpful and friendly have done 2 tours with emo now and perfect thanks emo
Our Tour Guide - Mahmoud El Wakeel with Emo Tours was a exceptional Guide, very well knowledgeable of Egypts history, was willing to add on a stop also. He was very professional and very friendly. Great tour guide!!! Recommended!!!!!
Aswani was the perfect tour guide! I have been on a number of tours in many countries and he was by for THE best! He was very knowledgeable of the subject matter and he was extremely patient with my many questions! I learned a lot about Cairo from this tour.. My tour guide and driver deserve 10stars…. I would recommend this tour with this duo to everyone! Thanks again Aswani.
We had an amazing time during our stay in Egypt. The tour guide Sayid Mahmud was amazing, taking amazing pictures, explaining everything with deep details, and especially showing the best vibes. Also the driver was very cool and smooth during the entire time from place to place
