A compliment to the GEM Disregard comments suggesting this museum is old and dirty. Restoration underway and a wonderful collection. I recommend a guided tour. Our guide Hassan was amazing. An egyptologist and experienced historian. Great day

We had a wonderful guide, Hassan Ghanem, for our visit to the old Egyptian Museum. He is an Egyptologist, and his knowledge and love of his subject really added to our experience. Even if you have seen the GEM, this museum is well worth a visit.
We would like to thank our excellent tour guide Ebrahim who was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and made our day very enjoyable
This was a scam that was not a half day tour. The tour of the museum itself was nice, but shorter than advertised. Our guide, Hoda, was knowledgeable, but rushed us through the museum because supposedly there was so much to see. We were done in about two hours. Then she said she had a special treat for us, which was learning about essential oils that were supposedly used in tombs. After a sales pitch in which we were pressured to purchase essential oils, starting at $65 a bottle, we refused to purchase anything. Hoda commented on the fact that we didn’t buy anything as we were leaving the shop, and we ignored her. Then she said she wanted to take us to a papyrus shop to learn about how papyrus was made and used, but we refused because we assumed that another sales pitch was waiting for us when we got there. We made her take us back to the hotel instead, because we were not going to allow her to attempt to scam us again by trying to be forced to purchase items from her friends.
Excellent half day tour. Very informative and a good time spent at museum. Ebrahim was my guide. He was excellent and definitely knew his Egyptology. Would highly recommend if you have a spare half day. This was Private tour so I got to hear everything unlike in a large group.
Visiting the Egyptian Museum in Cairo was one of the highlights of our first trip to this incredible city. After exploring the pyramids, Saqqara, and Memphis, the museum really brought everything together, helping us connect the dots and see the full picture of Egypt’s fascinating history. Walking through its galleries felt like stepping back thousands of years, with treasures from every era of ancient Egyptian civilization on display. One of the most unforgettable moments was seeing the treasures of Tutankhamen. Standing before his golden mask and the intricate objects found in his tomb was simply breathtaking. Photographs and documentaries cannot capture the sheer beauty, craftsmanship, and aura of these artifacts. For us, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the most famous discovery in Egyptology up close, and it gave us a real sense of the richness of ancient Egyptian culture. A huge part of what made the experience so special was our guide, Ahmed from Ahmed Ghanem Travel Guide. His knowledge, storytelling, and passion for Egypt’s heritage brought each artifact to life. He patiently explained the significance of pieces we might otherwise have walked past, and his ability to weave history into a clear narrative made the visit both educational and unforgettable. Our driver, Abdo, also deserves mention—navigating Cairo’s busy streets with calm confidence, he ensured our journey was smooth and stress-free. Together, Ahmed and Abdo made the day effortless and enjoyable. If you’re visiting Cairo, we cannot recommend the Egyptian Museum enough, and having Ahmed as your guide truly elevates the experience. It was an eye-opening and enriching visit that perfectly tied together everything we had seen on our Egyptian adventure.

So … first thing is to make sure you know what museum you’re going to as we learned there was the old and the new museum. We were glad to learn we were going to the older museum that originally opened in 1901. The building had a lot of character and charm as well as several great exhibits. Nevin was a very nice guide. She was friendly and provided some interesting information and added commentary on some of the exhibits.
We had the pleasure of being guided by Miss Nevin from Deluxe Tour during our visit to the Egyptian Museum, and she was simply outstanding. Warm, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable, Miss Nevin brought ancient Egypt to life with her engaging and detailed storytelling. She had a real gift for explaining complex historical facts in a way that was easy to understand and fascinating to listen to. What I really appreciated was how she paced the tour—never rushing us, always checking in to make sure we had time to take photos, wander a bit, or just absorb the magic of the place on our own. Her passion for Egyptology was infectious, and it made our experience at the museum all the more memorable. The old Egyptian Museum itself may look unassuming from the outside, but it’s a treasure trove inside—home to iconic artifacts like the golden mask of Tutankhamun, countless statues, mummies, and pieces from every major period of Ancient Egypt. There’s a certain charm to its layout—less polished than modern museums, but it somehow feels more authentic and raw, like stepping back in time. I’m so glad we visited while it’s still operating in its classic form. Highly recommend both the museum and Miss Nevin as a guide. She truly made our Luxor experience unforgettable.
Marco was a great tour guide offering many opportunities to explore Cairo beyond traditional places. He was also flexible accommodating personal preferences. I would book again with him and recommend to my friends.
I liked my full day trip with this company so much, I decided to follow up with a half day guided experience the following day. My guide Marco (whom I requested again from the day before) was again nothing short of amazing. He crafted a unique experice for me after discussing what I was interested in. Ultimately I told him I trust you're judgment and let's do what you'd recommend. It was perfect! I am not someone who is normally interested in historical churches or mosques be he told me it would be well worth it. He took me to a lesser known historic mosque with no lines, tourists or beggers. He used a connection to get a special "behind" the scenes tour. We ended our day with the museum where he took time to explain everything in detail. Marco is simply the best and I promise you, if you ask to have him as your guide for any experience you will not be disappointed. I know if I ever make it back to Egypt I am reaching out to him first.
Excellent tour, Nevin was a really excellent guide, very professional, informative and fun. Would highly recommend.
Marco was our guide, and he was exceptional. Having read a lot about the hit or miss nature of Egypt’s tourism, I came in to the country a little on guard due to some of the stories you hear online. Marco immediately dispelled all worries and fear and with his professional knowledge and passion for Egypt’s rich history. He not only gave us the service we expected, but more. As he is a Qualified Egyptologist, he had up-to-date knowledge and knew all the secret spots and locations that other tour guides may lack. The biggest compliment I can give him however, is that he made us feel at home despite travelling across the world where English is not spoken freely. If you are interested in an in-depth tour with a knowledgeable guide and are especially intrigued by the history here in Egypt; look no further. Marco is your man!
Terrific tour. I was picked up at my hotel, and then taken to the museum. From there met my guide and off we went. I love taking private tours. You can customize to your liking and don’t have to wait for hoards of people to move in one direction. Afterwards, went on a private boat ride, and when they found out, I was a sailor, they allowed me to sell the boat single handed. That was an awesome experience. And again I didn’t have to deal with crowds. Overall- a perfect first day in Cairo
I think it is so nice to see around with the guide such as Marco. He knew all the best spots. Also he helps you to understand the culture of modern and ancient Egypt. He has a massive knowledge about ancient period of Egypt and also he knows muslim and christian periods. Most importantly he is a great photographer. We had a very good driver , his name is Muhammed! There is a crazy traffic here and find some one like Muhammed Ali to fight with it.
Yasmin our guide was brilliant, she arrived on time and gave us a good overview of the GEM and spent time explaining the key items of interest. Yasmin ensured we were able to see the Tutkankamun immersive exhibition which was very good, however if you suffer from dizzy spells or vertigo this is not for you! The experience was true to its description in that the museum is only fractionally open- great if you are really interested.
Marco our tour guide was amazing and gave us an incredible visit to the Egyptian Museum highlighting all the incredible artefacts of special interest to us. Marco made the history come alive for my 10year old grandson. I would recommend asking for Marco if you visit as his knowledge seems infinite.
Our guide Nevin was so informative and entertaining . What a great tour ask her to show you Giza pyramids as well . What a great day !!
It was one of the most beautiful experiences in my life. We were at the pyramids and in the museum and experienced so much about the history and culture. Marco is the best tour guide you can imagine. Anyone who flies to Egyten and doesn't book it is making a huge mistake! The whole day was simply fantastic! I would give 7 stars instead of 5 if it were possible! Thank u Marco for everything! :) And thank u for the amazing biscuits ;)
Marco was great and very knowledgeable. With his education and background we felt privileged to have his insights. Marco’s knowledge of Egyptian history was thorough and although it may be straightforward for him it wowed us when he started reading the hieroglyphics on the statues and explaining the story and history behind them.
We had a great tour. Marco was a real enthusiast and full of interesting information. He also took great photographs! Thanks
Our tour was enhanced by the expertise of our guide, whose passion for Egyptology brought the exhibits to life with vivid storytelling and historical context. With each artifact, they offered fascinating insights into its significance, unraveling the mysteries of ancient rituals, beliefs, and traditions.
We had a half day trip to the pyramids and the museum. Ebrahim was a wonderful knowledgeable guide. He was very welcoming and explained a lot about ancient and current Egypt. He also took WONDERFUL photos. Badr was our driver and I am so grateful because the traffic is crazy. It was a great tour.
We were very lucky to have had Nevin show us around the Museum. It was a great experience for us adults and the kids. Her English is perfect and she shared the right amount of details so the kids or us wouldn’t be overwhelmed. She is also super friendly and easy going and we were soo happy with the wonderful afternoon with her that we asked her if she could take us through Cairo the following day which was truly amazing too. Really recommend this agency and specially Nevin.
Marco is absolutely amazing! He has a calm and charming demeanour - highly recommend! He has a masters in Egyptology and is currently doing his PhD…what else can you ask for?!?!?
Our guide, Nashat, was amazing. He is the most knowledgeable guide I have ever had in Egypt and provided an incredible amount of detail. I previously visited this museum with a different group but I learned so much more with Nashat. This museum has great displays (including King Tut items) even with everything moving to the new museum. I highly recommend visiting here and booking this tour.
Our guide Marco was amazing 🤩 His knowledge is incredible and he showed us round with informative chats, time to peruse & engaging conversation. We really can recommend both the tour and especially our guide Marco 😊
Organized a tour to the Egyptian Museum and Khan El Khalili Bazaar. Marco was out guide. His English is fantastic and he is a wealth of knowledge as he is a trained Egyptologist. He provided a great level of detail and history which was a fantastic start to my stay in Cairo. Would not hesitate to hire Deluxe Tours and Marco anytime.
I previously went on a Deluxe tour with Marco, English speaking tour guide and loved it so much, so I immediately booked another tour with Marco to see the Egyptian museum. There are so many things to see and would be so confusing if I was by myself. Marco is super knowledgeable, experienced and patient! I enjoyed the tour so much and he was very accommodating in coordinating with my timing. Marco is absolutely the best tour guide!
The Egyptian museum has an extensive collection and it is best to have a knowledgeable guide. We had a great experience with our tour guide from another tour that we specifically requested his expertise for this tour. Marco, an English speaking tour guide was fantastic! He is an Egyptologist with tremendous knowledge. This tour was informative and I would only recommend this tour with a professional like Marco to experience a full appreciation of what the museum has to offer.
I reached out to Nevin as I wanted a tour to see the Egyptian Museum and a visit to the famous Khan El Khalili market. Nevin organised a great afternoon and was very informative! You definitely need a guide when visiting the Egyptian Museum and Nevin was outstanding - she shared some interesting facts and took care of getting the tickets and sorting the transport (picked up from hotel and dropped back off). We then tried some delicious Egyptian food for lunch and then headed to the Khan El Khalili where we tried some authentic Egyptian coffee. Nevin was a great tour guide and very reassuring. It was nice having someone who is able to speak the local language and take care of everything for you giving you peace of mind for a stress free afternoon! Many thanks Nevin!
Our group thoroughly enjoyed the Nile Cruise, museum tour, walk through the Khan El Khalili shopping area, visit to the perfume shop and the yummy falafel sandwiches. Navine was fun to hang out with and made the most of a short day by exposing us to Egyptian culture, food and shopping fun. She is a lovely person, very knowledgable and we really enjoyed having her as our guide. Her husband Latif escorted us to the pyramids light show in the evening. We would highly recommend them to anyone visiting Egypt. We will be calling them again when we return for more adventures.
I had a fantastic day. Very informative and really enjoyable. The tour guide taught us a lot about ancient Egypt. She was also very hospitable. We were clearly in great hands. Thank you.
Excellent guide. Water is required in case of high heat. And the round trip provided by car is appreciated. All that is missing are tips and their exact amount not to be forgotten.
