The Citadel was a memorable stop. The remaining visits were short and with the guide seemingly disinterested as he was for the duration of the trip. The driver, Osama was quite good. Overall, I would not recommend this trip since the total drive time is about six hours with just two to three hours time in Alexandria. For a memorable and worthwhile visit, I would recommend a nighover in Alexandria. The site advertises the guide as an Egyptologist. I am not so sure that was the case with our guide and if so, perhaps he was tired or disinterested. The restaurant recommended (Kadoura) also took a long time with the lunch being mediocre at best.

Delightful day. Enjoyed the Pyramids and the museum. Wish we could have spent more time at the museum, but our guide wisely got us through it to see all of the important artifacts before we had to leave. I would recommend this tour.
It was an okay experience. Unfortunately the internet was down in the entire Egypt so buying tickets to get to the Catacombs and Pompfrey was difficult. The driver was very good but it was so hot that AC wasn’t working. The guide Ahmad tried to do his best. On the whole it was an exhausting experience
Firstly I had to contact to request pick-up time to wait in the lobby. When Mohamid Wagih arrived we received a text to come out to him instead of him coming in to meet us, like all previous guides. Disappointing with Mohamid, trip to Alexandria he did not discuss history of Alexandria, we had to ask questions what was on the way. The driver was more informed than the guide. Small bottle of Water was supplied once before we requested more. The guide wanted to take selfies with our phones/camera. The guide slept all the way back to Cairo, he did not know history of any of the places visited unless he read them on google before we arrived at each point. Mohamid did not show any care towards us. Lunch was at a seafood restaurant which was okay until paying the bill that was in Arabic which we didnt know was for us only or included the guide and driver. The guides English was very hard to understand. The tour could have been more interesting if the guide was well informed of the history of Alexandria and its surrounds.
Guide was excellent. She was highly knowledgeable and very pleasant. However, only because of the long drive time to Alexandria from Cairo, I would not necessarily do this tour if you are at all short on vacation time. Our driver showed up early, communicated well through WhatsApp, and spoke excellent English. Overall an enjoyable day.
They asked us $30 at the last moment. Most expensive tours of all! And Car was not in a good condition either. Guide was okay. Driver was good.
total fraud. never use this local tour guide. bator option is go The Egyptian Museum. opposite sides have to many travel agent. book offline. otherwise u pay online and spoil your whole expensive day.
My husbands and I had a very nice time on this tour. Our guide Emaan A. Is very professional and informative . We enjoyed her company and the many conversations we had in regards to Egypt .We would highly recommend her for future guide and the driver that accompanied us on the trip. Egypt is best explored with a awesome guide as Emaan .
Never actually got to do the tour because a driver/tour guide never showed up at my hotel to do the tour. Tried to contact the company the morning of and no one answered the phone or what’s app messages.
be carefull with operators you use. On this case, I did the reservation 6 months ago, contact the operator 24 before and confirm my tour, the same day of the tour, operator send me a message saying driver was waiting on the hotel entrance. but Mr. Bassam was lying after 2 hours waiting, NOBODY SHOW UP and nobody explain me what happen. My message is to VIATOR, be careful with your operators, I will never use your services again.
The guide was knowledgeable about the sites. The Citadel was a favorite site. The kids really enjoyed it.
We booked an all day Alexandria tour with Bes Tours. Part way through the tour, we found out it was subcontracted to Lets Explore Egypt. The miscommunication between the companies was a disaster. Lets Explore Egypt thought it was only supposed to be a half day tour. They did not know what landmarks we were supposed to go see. We had to keep telling the guide and the driver where we were supposed to go. and keep showing the email proof and confirmations of what was included at every stop. Entrance fees were supposed to be included but we needed to pay the entrance to the last attraction ourselves. The tour guide was supposed to speak English but his English was very limited and he stopped providing information after the first attraction. Lunch was also supposed to be included as it was an all day tour and they insisted several times that it was not. We were hurried along the locations we wanted to visit and instead of bringing us directly to the hotel, at the end, they did a massive detour (over 1h) to bring us to a store we never agreed to and we almost missed our evening plans. It was an extremely stressful day, very frustrating and we never got anything to eat despite the fact that we insisted so much.
Had a great time with Emeel in Alexandria today. He arrived at my hotel early. The locations we visited were interesting, and the seafood lunch was one of the best I've had in Egypt.
We started the day trip to Alexandria at around 8:25AM. The tour guide was Mr. Ali. The driver Mr. Gad (I hope the spelling is correct) is an excellent driver. It took us around 3 hours to reach our first destination. Overall, the trip was okay. It's just that my expectation was so high. May be because I had visited so many other cities and historical sites around the world before I finally visited Egypt. And I just visited several Europeans countries/cities right before I arrived in Egypt (stopped here on my way back to my country). Alexandria to me was an old city; not very presentable (dirty and congested with cars/vans/etc. trying to get through some narrow roads); need some improvement; not sure if I want to come here again. The historical sites were not as great as I had expected; so it’s below my expectation.
Muhammed was very knowledgeable. Very friendly and chatty guide. Driver Nasir drove well and knew his way around. Overall, great service and highly recommended.
The tour definitely could’ve been better. The driver got lost which slowed everything down. The biggest thing to see is the library. She found out that the library stops tours at 315pm. Why didn’t you know this ahead of time to keep this tour on track? Why are u just finding out. Some the things she was saying i didn’t believe, felt like she made it up as she went. We were with her for just about 12hrs and lunch was not an option. We knew we had to pay for it, but can we eat?! We’re starving! Hey name is Hyatt like the hotel. Wasn’t a fan. Different guide, May have been a better tour.
It was a fun trip, we enjoyed the company of Nasser, our tour guide. He gave us all the information we needed on the trip in a very entertaining way. I recommend him as a guide. Annis, our driver, made sure we made it to our destination and back - safe.
The tour was expensive and on top of it, you had to purchase entry tickets to all the sites. The tour also said that lunch was included, but that had to be purchased as well, not only for yourself, but also for the guide and the driver. It was not worth the money.
Had an amazing time AyaM was lovely very informative. The could not of been better. Thank you so much.
Ahmed was a fantastic tour guide Very knowledgeable. I would recommend visiting Alexandria to anyone
Before I get started, I would like to point out that this is my first time leaving a bad review as I am a very understanding person. I booked this tour for my wife's 30th birthday and we flew to Egypt specifically for this tour. She has been dreaming about visiting Alexandria! As I knew I had to do everything in my power to make sure this tour happened, I booked this tour via Viator as this experience is well rated and even has a badge of excellence. Because of that, I did not have any alternative plan and my mind was very at ease. On the day of the tour, my wife and I woke up very early and very excited about this tour. The pick up time was 8:00 and we already waiting in the hotel lobby. After 20 minutes past the pick up time, I tried to contact the tour operator via phone, via Viator messaging system, and WhatsApp - no response. However, we were thinking things happen, so let's wait. 40 minutes after the pick up time, nothing. I tried to contact Viator via their WhatsApp platform, which seems to be an automated system or I was dealing with different VIator people. I was asked the same questions multiple times, such as "Did you try to contact the tour operator?" or "Would you like to book another experience?" I tried to book another experience, but it was not as good as what I booked for initially. Also, I was not able to cancel as I might be charged as per the operator's policy. After realizing that I was not getting the help I was expecting, I decided to call Viator. Despite the person on the phone being lovely, there is nothing she could do to assist. She tried contacting the tour operator, without success. Our phone conversation lasted 34 minutes. I had to hang up while she put me on hold because I had to find an alternative plan to make wife's birthday special at past 9:00 in a country I have never visited before. By that time, it was too late to find another option for Alexandria as all the tour operators leave Cairo by 8:00 latest to ensure travelers can visit Alexandria fully. The only other option was to visit Alexandria the next day; however, that was our departure date from Egypt. My wife and I went back to our hotel room and she cried in my arms. That was the first part of her 30th birthday. After my wife settle down, we checked all of the reviews for this tour and noticed that at least two people complained that the tour operator did not show up. I never believed in reviews until that day. This tour has a badge of excellence despite not showing up without any reason. Lastly, to this day, neither the tour operator nor Viator has checked on us to see how things went. I only received the automatic email from Viator "How was your experience?" Bottom line is DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR. If you do, please make sure you have back up plans!
The whole trip was amazingly great, having Noor Nagy as my tour guide was very interesting and very knowledgeable when explaining, the driver Hany was pleasant and friendly. I had a great experience and I extremely recommend it.
Fantastic tour with guide Mary and great driver, saw all the sights and had great fish lunch.Mary is amazing with her knowledge but also her kindness and friendship and would fully recommend this tour and Mary to anyone visiting Egypt
There were several negatives on this tour: 1. The car was extremely dirty; 2. The guide (a very nice guy) had a very heavy assent so it was almost impossible to understand him; 3. At the end of the trip he told the driver to drop him first and then to take us to our hotel. That added to our long trip another 40 min. for no good reason for us; 4. The water was not provided so we had to ask our guide to stop somewhere so we could buy bottled water
Ahmed (guide) and Gad(driver), thank you for your time. I enjoyed the tour very much so many good photos
I thoroughly enjoyed my day trip to Alexandria with Ahmed Elsayed Saad (guide) and Gad (driver). Ahmed was engaging and knowledgeable and showed a real passion for his work. The itinerary allowed us to see all the main sights, plus the opportunity to try some local food for lunch! Gad also did a wonderful job navigating through the crazy traffic in Alexandria! Would highly recommend this trip.
Gad our driver was an excellent driver and my tour guide Ahmed Elsayed Saad was very knowledgeable and patient. I did a solo tour so it was 1-1 tour, which was very enjoyable for me. We even stopped off for me to try some sugar cane which was a nice treat. Ahmed took loads of great pictures of me and the landmark too, thank you! If you do a stop off at the Papyrus Institute I would warn they are extremely expensive and would advise to haggle down from 10% the original price if you intend to buy anything from there. The extortion at the institute was the only negative for me as I felt pressured to buy overpriced items. Great tour otherwise :)
In general a good tour, and Mhmoud was an excellent guide. I was able to pick out the parts of the tour I wanted to focus more on, and Mhmoud encouraged me to take my time and enjoy the sights- for me visiting the Alexandria Library was a big must, so taking advice from previous reviews, I made sure to visit there first. You don't get much communication from the company itself at all, and we started 2.5 hours late with little notice from the company. But Mhmoud explained the hold up and it was a one off. Also, be clear that lunch is included, as I had to argue that it was.
I recommend going to Alexandria before going to Luxor so you are not disappointed with the sites there. The service was punctual but our guide was below average comparing to other tours we did in Egypt. She asked for a Big tip when we almost got to the hotel (we did tip her and the driver but not as much as we do with better guides and when not asked for). The library was nice but you can not touch the books and is more a museum.
Mohamed Mahmoud and driver Rafaat were amazing. Great knowledge of Alexandria, fun conversation about culture and all around easy going to accommodate exactly what we wanted.
During our eight day Cairo trip, we took a day tour to Alexandria and it was by far the best day of our vacation!! Alexandria is amazing and our guide, Ahmed Elsayed Saad, was fantastic. He was friendly, informative and flexible to our requests. The catacombs were absolutely fascinating, Pompey’s Pillar and the Fort of Qaitbay were beautiful. We finished with lunch overlooking the Mediterranean. Highly recommend!
Great one day solo trip to Alexandria. We efficiently visited multiple historical sites. Ahmed Saad was my guide, very knowledgeable, and did a fantastic job. Raafat was the driver and easily handled crazy traffic in Alexandria.
It was a very nice day to Alexandria with our guide Yasser. He made our day, very professional, caring and funny, we lauged a lot with him. Thank you Yasser! Regresaremos!
Ahmed Elsayed Saad was the sweetest tour guide. Explained and informed us about all the stops we went to and even went out of his way to get us our random requests. We had a great time with him and our driver Anas. Anas was a great driver! Definitely ask for them when you book your tour, you won’t regret it!
It was an excellent experience! The guide and the driver were both nice and kind! The driver drove safely and had a nice and confortable car. They adapted their route to our demands! I highly recommend this tour! Thank you! Gaetano and Vivian from Canada
We went on this tour a couple of days ago. Definitely worth it. Ahmed Elsayed Saad, our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. He took us on all the sites, he explained everything in great details, he came with us on a nice walk on the Corniche. He took a lot of very nice pictures for us and he also helped us with avoiding the vendors. We had some interesting discussions with him about life in Egypt these days. The driver, Ahmed Abozed, somehow managed very well the crazy Egyptian traffic and took us from Cairo to Alexandria and back very safe. Overall a nice day with lots of things to see and learn. Thank you.
LGPT+ recommended. Nour has been the light of the day during the tour to Alexandria. She was knowledgeable and shared her wisdom freely. The time flew by with many conversations with our driver Martin and plenty of bathroom breaks. I hope you will have a chance to experience a day with Nour and Martin during your stay and feel being taken care of.
I have to say that Egypt is a beautiful country overall, but its the tour guide that makes it even better when you want to capture the best photo spots and the highlights. We had Nour and the driver was Michael. They made our day trip extra special. I like that she was knowledgeable helpful and very warm. She knew the route well and we were able to visit all the sites scheduled on time, take all our nice pictures with her help. What i like the most is that she understood that we would have been flocked by vendors, and she avoided those tourist traps. It was a smooth whole day and i recommend this trip to everyone who wants to do a side trip from Cairo. And yes pick Nour she is super awesome!
Mohamed el Wazir was a great tour guide!! It was a 3 hour ride to Alexandria and due to the traffic it was 5 hours. He was knowledgeable and provided us a great tour of Alexandria. He brought us to a fabulous restaurant for lunch. I would highly recommend this tour.
To begin, this is one of the only tours that did not text us the night before to confirm. They picked us up in the morning in a horrible condition little car that seated 4 people. The car was dirty and reeked of smoke. On our booking, it said that we would be picked up by a minivan with WiFi. Do not fall for that it’s completely a lie. No minivan or WiFi. Just a small broken down car in its last days with no security features. On our way to Alexandria, the driver (Ahmed) drove very dangerously down the freeway at 140km per hour and drove recklessly. His seatbelts were not working so we didn’t even have an option to buckle. When we arrived to Alexandria, the tour guide (Mohammed) began his tour. The tour guide was terrible. The only thing he said at each spot was “this is Roman type. This Egyptian”. He didn’t know anything else. When I asked Mohammed a question, he responded in a very rude and condescending way. He reacted as if I should have known. Additionally, on the trip description, it said we had 2 hours at each spot. In reality, we had around 15 mins at each spot and he was rushing us the whole time. He was also extremely rude to women, especially to my girlfriend who was also on the tour. We had also paid for the meal that included a seafood lunch for two. However, the tour guide refused our lunch and said we still had to pay out of pocket. We let it go but later confirmed with our booking that we did indeed pay for lunch. The cherry on top to all of this was the one place we really wanted to see was the Alexandria library, was not even open. When we arrived, we were told by the security guards that the library was closed. And Mohammed said “yes today is closed”. Like are you serious?! We drove 6 hours to see this and you didn’t even have the common decency to let us know it’s closed on the day of our visit? Seriously, one the the worst tours we have ever been on. These people are rude, condescending, and just overall not good people. We felt very scared for our safety the entire time and we didn’t learn anything. This guy is not an Egyptologist. You’re better off hiring a street vender to take you on the tour. This tour company should be taken off Viator.
Our guide Ahmed was amazing. He really give his best to satisfy all our wishes. It was really nice experience
I had a great experience touring Alexandria with our tour guide Paula. The ride was cool and comfortable and Paula was an excellent and knowledgeable guide. I highly recommend this tour!
Ashraf was an excellent guide for our first day in Egypt. He was very knowledgeable and patient, answering all of my questions about everything from current to ancient Egypt. He provided great commentary on all monuments and allowed us plenty of time to explore without rushing us onto the next place. He took great photos for us the entire day and was professional throughout the trip. The provided lunch was very good (make sure to ask about the drinks that are available !) Every location had a great view and plenty of history related to the area. One good thing to know coming to Alexandria is that you cannot typically get into the physical library to see the books but Ashraf did a great job taking us through the free exhibits to see inside through the glass and still get pictures.
Perfect day trip from the Cairo/Giza area. My tour guide Ahmed Elsayed was very knowledgeable and Eslam was a great driver. The seafood in Alexandria was delicious as well. The catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa and Pompey's pillar are must sees in Alexandria
Well, what can I say… I took this tour just last week. I was very excited to visit Alexandria, but unfortunately my experience wasn’t the best. I would like to start with the driver, although he was nice, the round trip from Cairo to Alexandria was scary to say the least. He was going so fast that I was praying we won’t get killed on our way there. Once we got to Alexandria safe and sound (Thank God). We started the tour as we were supposed to, visiting the first site in the itinerary, so far great. We jump into the car to go to the next stop, Citadel of Qaitbay which I never got to go inside. Ahmed told me that this building was empty inside and there is nothing to see. He instead took to some weird side close by overlooking the fortress. There were a lot of trash and bad smells there. He then took me to lunch, we spend more time there than at any site. The last two stop were not in our itinerary Which was the Sidi Abo El Abbas El Morsi Mosque and the library of Alexandria. I was excited about the library but he once again told it was close. Once I got back I went online just too see if was open until 7 pm that day. He was very eager to take me to the cotton store and to another craft store once back in Cairo. I’m very disappointed because I feel my time in Alexandria could have been better. We never visited the 2 other sites that were in my booking offered by Viator.
Very pleasant day in Alexandria. Ahmed Elsayed was my guide and the driver was Said. I got to see all the main sightseeings there with a very good explanation of the things. Ahmed takes lots of good photos, this was very important, specifically because I was traveling alone. Thank you
Wonderful and exquisite day in Alexandria!!! Make sure you ask for Ahmed Ghanem! He’s an amazing and very knowledgeable guide. The logistics of the tour was great having water and juice for us in the car before we left in the morning. He made sure the driver was near us after each stop. The restaurant is GORGEOUS!!! wonderful views of the ocean and citadel. He made sure my friend had a vegan meal. He took our pictures too! I highly recommend this tour!
Ahmed Ghanem was a FANTASTIC guide! He took such good care of us! Fantastic knowledge, Fantastic at giving us the best photo ops! He is so kind! I would recommend Ahmed Ghanem to anyone that wants to visit Egypt! He even helped us book our transportation to the airport!
Ahmed Elsayed is extremely knowledgeable and very patient with all of our questions. He helped us get great pictures and was more than happy to take several of them for us. He always made sure we had enough water to drink because our tour was on a very hot and humid day in Alexandria. Eslam our driver navigated the crazy traffic in Cairo and Alexandria with confidence and we felt very safe in his car. We would rec this team to anyone
It was really scary there and I felt a bit uncomfortable. I wish the library was included (which it was on the itinerary) or at least some good spots to take a picture from. The drive was exhausting and kinda not worth it. The main problem with all the tours in Egypt is that it is never what is in description.
