We had a great experience. This was our first guided tour in Egypt so we learned a lot. It was a fantastic way to introduce a lot of the ancient Egyptian culture to us. Would recommend

I would give our guide ten stars if Viator allowed it! He went well beyond his standard duties to ensure our half-day tour of the Giza necropolis, Saqqara, and Memphis was exceptional. Not only was his knowledge impressive, but he also genuinely looked out for us—expertly steering us clear of the usual tourist traps and guiding us toward the real highlights. It was a remarkably comfortable and memorable experience.
Our trip to Giza Pyramids, Saqqarah and Memphis was unforgettable, largely thanks to our guide Mahmoud Nashy. Not only does he know the history inside and out, but he also made the entire experience stress free. He looked after us like family. His warm personality and sense of humor made that day in the sun a total joy.
Hema, our tour guide, was an amazing 23 years boy very happy and full of positive energy with knowledges about everything.
Our guide Taher was very well spoken and provided us with a great tour. The fees were affordable. It took roughly two hours for everything. Overall it was a very nice and warming time.
Taher was great. He was very friendly, educational and helpful. Highly recommend taking his tour. He allowed us to stop at the Papyrous factory and showed us authentic pieces. Taher should be your choice everytime.
Great person to tour with. Doesnt ask for more money like other tourists. Best tour I've had in Egypt with Taher. Car was nice for pick up as well. Thank you so much!
Mahmood is a knowledgeable and pleasant tour guide. He accommodated all our requests. Attentative, patient and generous. We highly recommend him.
We took a tour with Mohamed Gomaa. He was informative, helpful and personable. We visited many sites, he gave us lots of interesting information and takes a good picture! He also took us to a gallery to see Papyrus being made which was very interesting. We would recommend to anyone.
Mahmoud was beyond amazing! We had a wonderful trip with him as our guide, he was so knowledgeable and worth every penny!
We had two fantastic days in Cairo with Mahmoud. The first was a tour of Saqqara, Memphis and Giza and the second was a tour of Coptic and Islamic Cairo. Mahmoud is a great story teller and even my seven year old was engaged - we learnt so much of both Ancient and Medieval Egypt. Mahmoud is very knowledgeable and experienced but also great fun and great with our three children! He also helped with arranging additional activities and support for our holiday which was so useful. Thank you Mahmoud!!
The trip was amazing. Our tour guide, Mr. Mahmoud Nashy was very friendly and has a lot of knowledge about the egyptian civilization. In addition, our guide took/recommended us wonderful places in Cairo. We enjoyed our trip!!
Our experience with Mahmoud as our guide in Cairo was amazing. From the moment we arrived, Mahmoud, alongside a professional driver, ensured our three-day tour was seamless, educational, and incredibly enjoyable. His communication prior to our arrival was excellent, setting the stage for a well-organized trip. Mahmoud's knowledge of history and his passion for sharing it made our exploration of Cairo's rich heritage a truly memorable experience. He was accommodating, thoughtful, and always ready to offer valuable advice and suggestions, ensuring we experienced the best of authentic Cairo. His flexibility with our itinerary allowed us to tailor our journey to our interests, making spontaneous decisions that enhanced our adventure. Furthermore, the authentic places to stay he suggested were perfect. The food was delightful, and the company, both Mahmoud and the driver, made our trip even more enjoyable. For anyone looking to dive deep into the history of Cairo with a knowledgeable, caring, and flexible guide, Mahmoud is your go-to person. Our group of four couldn't have asked for a better guide to explore Cairo with.
Me and a friend spent two days in Cairo with Mahmoud Nashy as a guide and Ibrahim as a driver. If it's your first time in the city and you are not fluent in Arabic, Cairo might seem huge and totally insane especially for someone that travels from a western country. That being said, having Mahmoud and Ibrahim with us really levelled up our experience, at an affordable price. They refined our itinerary and made our transportations super fast and most importantly safe. We were able to see all that's feasible to be seen in a two-day stay and hear information from an expert egyptologist. They even included some extra places that we asked about and agreed to work overtime for a couple of hours without asking for extra money - that was much, much appreciated. After all was said and done, Mahmoud gave us his contact info to help us with anything we would need in the following days visiting Luxor and Aswan. What more could someone ask for? We left Cairo with feeling that we had made a new friend. Thank you very much and hope to see you again!
Let me start by saying Mahmoud is amazing. He really gives his all and his best. He explains everything as if he's telling a bedtime story and he adds his own personal touch to the story telling to make every story memorable. When he explains history, he even gives us all of the theories available and explains everything so thoroughly. We were 2 girls traveling so he took care of our safety and even volunteered to take us out at night to show us the local egyptian scenery. He is extremely professional and a gentleman. I definitely recommend him to any solo travelers or girl travelers. My friend and I are both recommending him to everyone we know.
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing Cairo with Mahmoud as my guide, and let me tell you, it was absolutely fantastic! Mahmoud's passion for his city is infectious, and his knowledge of Cairo's history and culture is truly impressive. From the iconic Pyramids of Giza to the old museum,he's a storyteller, bringing Cairo's rich past to life with enthusiasm and flair. If you're planning a trip to Cairo, do yourself a favor and book Mahmoud as your guide. You won't regret it!
In all my travels I haven’t came across with a guide as honest, knowledgeable and nice as Mahmoud. We liked this tour so much that we also did several others tours with Mahmoud. Not only you can trust him but also he has perfect English. He’s an egyptologist so he will teach you everything you want to know about ancient Egypt. I really can’t rave a nought about Mahmou!
We had the best time in Egypt! The trip was both relaxed as well as educational. We felt fully submerged in the rich history and Mahmoud’s expertise.
Mahmoud was the best tour guide I have ever met because you can tell that he loves the history that he is talking about. He made the tours so fun and interesting by telling us littl.knowm facts and stories that you won't find in the standard history books. His knowledge of all things Egypt made this experience exceed my expectations. He was with us for 8 days from Cairo to Luxor to Kom Ombo to Aswan and he had an in-depth knowledge about every place we went. I learned so much more than I imagined I would. THANK YOU Mahmoud for EVERYTHING
Awesome time and Mahmoud is very knowledgeable! We learned a lot, can’t wait to come back next year to see more!
Mahmoud the Tour Guide Super respectful and friendly very professional he showed me magnificent places he knows different languages super recommended
Mahmoud is the best! Not only was he knowledgeable, but he was fun to be around. In addition he provided excellent service.
We had a group of 20+ and we thoroughly enjoyed Mahmoud. He's very knowledgeable and compassionate about his Egyptian culture and artifacts. We will never forget all that we learned on this travel experience. We now consider him a part of our travel family. Don't second guess choosing this great tour guide!
Could not have been better! Mahmoud is wonderful! Four gals booked him for a week. He fulfilled every one of our request for sites, activities (horseback to felucca). You will not regret hiring him!
I penned this review in August 2021, following a series of trips with Mahmoud earlier that year, specifically in January and February. Looking back, not only does my original assessment hold true, but some of my most cherished memories over the last few years were created during those journeys with Mahmoud. -- Extensive experience touring Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan with Mahmoud. I've spent 7 days living in close quarters with the guy and have been on 8 day trips with him. Within Cairo on our first tour we went to: Sakara, Memphis, and the Pyramids of Giza. On our second Cairo tour (three months after the first) we went to: The Egyptian Museum, Old Cairo, The Citadel, and The Islamic City. In Luxor we went to: Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple (at night--he insisted it was the best time and was right of course!), Valley of the Kings, Mortuary Temple of Hatshpsut, the Luxor Museum, and the Colossi of Memnon. In Aswan we went to: Nubian Village, Philae Temple, Kalabsha Temple, and the hard to reach Abu Simple (and for a great price too). When I was first recommended an Egyptologist that could take me around the Pyramids I was almost skeptical. What would this person be like? What would they know? Was I getting a good deal, or being taken for a ride? Result: Going on a tour with Mahmoud was the single greatest decision I've made during my time in Egypt. He made this place feel like home. So much so that although I only came for one month, I've now been here for 8! Mahmoud knows his stuff. He can tell you about historical events, name dates, explain the relationships between Kingdoms and historical figures. And he can say how we know what we do (a favorite question of mine). I'd recon any tour guide can do that (that's not always the case though as I have toured with two other guides in two different cities and it almost seemed like I knew more about the history than they did). Where Mahmoud stands out is in his passion for his country's history and sharing it with others. It is important to him. He makes it relatable. When we're not on a tour and the opportunity comes up, he'll gently remind me of historical events that took place ("Do you remember when we went to...")--NOT in an annoying or know-it-all type way, but because he paid attention and knows that I'm curious and I care. He also speaks up to protect his country's history. On two of our tours Mahmoud stood up to people who disrespected historical artifacts (setting down a hot coffee on top of one, and in the other instance, someone was leaning their greasy hands and elbows on something ancient). Mahmoud is trustworthy. In our adventures together there have been many times when Mahmoud could charge more than he does--in fact, I happen to know that sometimes other people encourage him to do so, try to get him to go along with their overcharging schemes, or just generally try to induce him away from his integrity. That's not Mahmoud's way. Whether it's the taxi driver aiming for a kick back in recommending an unnecessarily expensive restaurant, or a hot air balloon ride that has different prices for Americans: he'll keep an eye on your expenses even when you're not. He'll also explain various schemes that go on in certain places--like the Pyramids themselves. One example: someone will ask you for your ticket in an authoritative way, tell you that to get to the Pyramids you must ride the "required camel as it's very far to the entrance" only to end up tricking you into spending a ton of money. Literally, right when I exited Mahmoud's car such a scammer asked me for my ticket! When you're with him, you can trust he'll be looking out for you. He takes it seriously--he's a professional. One of the awesome things about Mahmoud though is that, although he is a true professional, he's also a lot of fun to be around. He has a good sense of humor, is curious, knows what there is to do in any city you may go, and genuinely tries to get to know the people he's around. If you've ever read Shantaram, Mahmoud reminds me a bit of Prabaker "Prabu" Kharre. He'll take you into his world, show you the ropes, and you'll have a great time while remaining safe (physically and financially).
Amazing tour of pyramids provided by Mahmoud. Excellent historian and spoke perfect English. Lots of information and catered it to my children too. Felt very safe going with him. Picked us up in a big air conditioned van, took us on tour of pyramids, arranged ATVs by the pyramids for us for half the price of what we were finding online. Even took us to eat Egypt’s speciality dish koshari. Highly recommend. Cairo is known for too many scammers. Worth the cost of going with a tour with Mahmoud.
Mahmoud was amazing! I visited Egypt for weeks in June to July and again in August 2021 (part of a tour of Africa). Mahmoud came recommended by the owner of the Cairo Air B&B I was staying at. He showed me around Cairo including all the culturual sites, Giza, Memphis, Saqqara, Luxor and the Valley of the Kings, Queens and Workers, Abydos, Dendara, Kom Obo, Aswan, Abul Simbel, Beni Hasan, Tuna-el-Gebel, Tell el Amarna, Minya, Fayoum and Wadi-al-Hitan. We also had a great time just hanging out and having fun after sightseeing. Mahmoud was very knowledgeable about Egyptology, took care of all the paper work required for the sites that are off the beaten track (e.g., Tell-el-Amarna) and was very attentive and caring about my well being. And as I said, also fun to hang out with and see Egypt from the viewpoint of a local outside of the tourist sites. Highly recommended. 5/5 stars!
Mahmoud is an excellent guide! Professional and knowledgeable. He knew all the places. I strong recommend, it was a great experience! Looking forward to take my girlfriend to Cairo.
If you're considering a trip to Cairo, I wholeheartedly recommend Mahmoud's services for an unforgettable journey. Mahmoud was highly recommended to me by a colleague so I knew he would be good and I have continued to recommend him to friends who have visited Egypt since. From the moment we met Mahmoud, his warm and friendly demeanour made us feel welcomed. He picked us up from the airport and had a car waiting for us to take us straight to our hotel. Mahmoud has impeccable organisational skills. Every day trip was meticulously planned, with tickets pre purchased and no waiting around wasting time. The well-structured itineraries allowed us to cover a plethora of historical sites and landmarks while still savouring each moment of the vibrant city. Mahmoud has a profound knowledge of Cairo's architecture and archaeology. His insights breathed life into the ancient structures and monuments we visited, making the experience both educational and captivating. His ability to explain the intricate details and historical significance behind each site left us in awe. In addition, he had fabulous photography skills, humour and patience in capturing those all important Insta photos of the pyramids hehe! Mahmoud's genuine enthusiasm and passion for his country and sharing the wonders of Egypt was evident. But it wasn't just the daylight hours that Mahmoud enriched. He ensured we were made feel special at each restaurant we visited at night and even organised a special birthday celebration for me while there. Mahmoud's dedication to ensuring our comfort and satisfaction was unmatched – there was simply nothing he wouldn't do to make our trip extraordinary. An added bonus was his personality and there was much banter and humour throughout our trip, which added a personal touch to our entire adventure. I 100% recommend Mahmoud and would without doubt call on him again for my next trip to Egypt.
Mahmoud made my trip in Cairo very special. I've traveled many different places and I can assure you that he was one of the best guides I have ever met. He is caring, always going the extra mile to make sure we are having a great time, and knowledgeable.
We are usually very independent and do not book "tours". However, we felt for this trip we should do that. After a lot of reading on trip advisor we settled on Mahmoud. This was one of the best choices ever! You can tell that he loves Egypt and is passionate about all of the things to see and do. We booked for him to join us in Luxor (we had been diving the week previous in the Red Sea). He made all the travel arrangements for drivers to pick us up and make sure everything was as planned. We then toured around Luxor (3 nights) and then drove to Aswan and spent 2 days there. We then flew back to Cairo and spent the next 5 days with him. He always had a great attitude, even with it being 110 deg + every day. If I needed to take a rest, then we did. The heat just seems to drain the energy from me. We learned soooo much and even our family and friends have been impressed with our knowledge. He listened to what we wanted to do, let us make the plans and offered suggestions along the way. If there was something specific that we wanted to buy.. he made sure we went some place where we would not get the "tourist" prices. There was a small problem that we had early in the trip (it was not anything to do with his part) and it was 3 am. He grumbled at us the next day for not contacting him and letting him help. If you are on tour with him, he considers himself to be available to you 24 hours a day. That was surprising, but really good to know. He tried to pick different places to eat that had more traditional Egyptian food and not just westernized menus. However, if that is not what you prefer then he will accommodate. He has a whole team of drivers and other guides that he uses. Everyone of them that we came in contact with were helpful, kind and did a great job. It is obvious to me that he has a standard that he expects and that any of the people he uses needs to have that same standard. I could write a book about our 10 day adventure with him. Please feel free to DM me if you have any specific questions. He does everything over WhatsApp. So that was easy to communicate. It seemed a little strange at first, but it works. His English is great and his knowledge of the antiquities throughout the country is over and above what I would have expected. I felt that his prices were very reasonable. We checked other group tours and they were more expensive than his with a private tour. I know he has packages that he books everything for you or you can choose to book your own hotel, etc. It can be all inclusive or whatever you are most comfortable doing. I am a bit of a control freak, so we booked our hotels and airline tickets (with his suggestions) and then he took care of the rest.
Mahmoud was a great guide. We spent two days with him in a private tour of Giza and Cairo and loved it. Learned a lot about old & new Egyptian culture, would recommend and definitely repeat!
Mahmoud was a great guide! Very professional and very knowledgeable. He knew all the best picture places and poses. I 100% recommend, it was a great experience!
Mahmoud picked us up at the airport where he was professional and excited to showcase all Cairo had to offer. He is one of the best tour guides I have experienced in the many places I have visited. His passion for Egyptian history and knowledge will fill you the wonders of past culture and help you to enjoy your time there. Mahmoud even organised a birthday surprise for my friend at a beautiful traditional restaurant where we enjoyed Egyptian celebrations. Mahmoud will organise everything and tailor your trip to suit your schedule. Cannot recommend Mahmoud enough.
The first time we visited Egypt, Mahmoud was HIGHLY recommended from a friend to have a great experience, and without a doubt best decision we made. He knows the history, the country and the people. We had an AMAZING time! Thank you Mahmoud!!!
Really knowledgeable guide who speaks English well and is trustworthy and really takes care of his guests! I was traveling alone so finding a trustworthy guide was really important to me. He even brought me an extra hat since I said I didn't have one with me. Really thankful Mahmoud showed me around. I think what really sets him apart is that he is very intelligent, kind, honest, understands what his guest needs and will cater to that (i.e. your travelling pace, your budget, etc). He also had great recommendations around Egypt, not just Cairo! 10/10 recommend :)
Been to Egypt twice and Mahmoud is my go to person when i want to learn about Egypt, its history and special places. The way he told us the story and details of each single place we visited was beautiful and so interesting specially with the timeline he was taking us through visiting each place connecting the past with the future. Highly recommended trip!
Full knowledge about ancient Egypt You could really learn something in this trip Also tour guide is nice and chill I had a great experience there definitely recommend 👍👍
We are so glad we booked tours with Mahmoud! I rang him before we booked as we had our baby and wanted to make sure we could be flexible if we need to take breaks at any point etc and he was very accommodating. He knew all the facts and great picture locations, even taking favourite picture of us jumping. One of the best things was how helpful was outside of our tour times in giving us advice and helping us get the most out of our time. Through him we were also able to do and see even more than we had originally planned. We would definitely recommend him to anyone.
Fantastic tour with very good guide, Mohamed, and superb shuttle service. Highly recommended. The visit to Saqqara has been very didactic and Memfis and the Giza necropolis, as always a marvel of archaeological site.
All the places were amazing, we had experiences in the pyramids, Alexandria, ancient city, modern city, night outs. It was a wonderful 3 day experience. Mohamednashy, Mahmoud and the whole team of guides, driver were super friendly leaving us wanting to go back to Egypt.
I can say that Mahmoud is my friend. A great person, his English is perfect and his work is careful, very professional, close. If you have the opportunity to go to Egypt, don't miss Cairo, and if you can tour it with him you will have gained more than just some good photos, you will have had the opportunity to meet a great person!
Judas exceptional, polite and very professional, organized an unforgettable tour for us, he highly recommends it, and certainly one to be repeated because Egypt is a country of continuous discoveries...
A wonderful experience. With great attention, speaking English fluently. Just thank you for your attention. 🙏🏻
