We had the most incredible day exploring Alexandria from Cairo, and it was entirely thanks to our wonderful guide, Nora. She didn't just show us the sights. Nora is a brilliant storyteller. Whether she was walking us through ancient history at the Qaitbay Citadel and Pompey's Pillar, or showing us the modern side of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, her passion and deep knowledge were contagious. What we appreciated most was how thoughtful she was. She constantly checked in on us and made sure we moved at our own comfortable pace, so we never felt rushed or exhausted. Our driver, Sherif, was also a total gem. He made the long drive from Cairo fly by with his safe driving, great music, and fun stories, even surprising us with fresh dates and local falafels along the way! If you are booking this tour, do yourself a huge favor and ask for Nora. She feels more like a knowledgeable friend showing you around her home than a traditional tour guide, and she made our day unforgettable!

Our guide, Nora, and our driver, Shief, were both fantastic. Nora was deeply knowledgeable, passionate about Alexandria's history, and spoke excellent English. Shief was highly professional, polite, and provided smooth, comfortable transportation all day. Shief went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, keeping us fed and energized with local treats like fresh dates, peanuts, and authentic falafel. The pacing was perfect for exploring iconic landmarks like the Qaitbay Citadel, Pompey's Pillar, the Roman Theatre, and the stunning Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The included lunch at a local restaurant was delicious and authentic. The convenience and personalized care made this historical journey completely stress-free. Request Nora and Shief if you can!
We had a wonderful visit to Alexandria with our guide Mig and Sherif our driver. They were both extremely helpful and knowledgeable throughout the day with many extras.
Good pick up on time. Stopped for break and coffee both ways to Alexandria. Driving was about 2 hours ish and driver was professional and attentive. Day trip was worth it. Guide was personable with extensive knowledge and answered numerous questions in a polite and engaging manner. Both driver and guide excellent. Great day out.
We have had an amazing experience with our knowledgable and fun tour guide, Macy. Our driver Sherif was also wonderful. We have had a fabulous day on our trip to Alexandria. HIGHLY Recommend!!
Mig was our guide in Alexandria today, and we could not have wished for a better experience. He introduced us to all the city’s major sights, providing comprehensive and fascinating explanations of both its rich history and its modern-day life. He also went above and beyond to accommodate our wish to gain authentic insights into the everyday lives of Egyptians, giving us a wonderful opportunity to experience the local culture beyond the usual tourist attractions. With his excellent command of English, his pleasant and welcoming manner, and his extensive knowledge, Mig made our visit to Alexandria truly memorable. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our time with him and would highly recommend him to anyone wishing to discover Alexandria in an engaging, informative, and authentic way.
Alexandria is worth visiting. Our driver She Sherif was really helpful and easy to communicate with. He also brought us to a nice restaurant with a spectacular view. It was a smooth experience overall
Shesho Sherif is an excellent guide and driver. He has a joyful personality and willingly shared with you, the history and culture of Egypt. Met and assist was on time and he always checked in with us on our needs and preferences.
Mig was an excellent guide. He was very knowledgeable and allowed us enough time to explore the various sites on our own after a historic brief. Highly recommend a tour of Alexandria with him
Lovely tour with Meg. He was very informative and accommodated our requests well. Our driver was also very friendly. We had a wonderful day at all the major sites in Alexandria

Today I was picked up in Cairo and driven to Alexandria for day tour with Local Guide, Noor. My day with Noor has been fantastic, her friendly nature and knowledge of the history of both Egypt and Alexandria has been outstanding. I Have come away with far better understanding of the history of the area and some great photos to remember it by. Highly recommend this tour and especially Noor.
MEG is commended for his deep Egyptology knowledge. Sharief and Meg were both very respectful and kind. Pricing was fair. Food was fantastic. Vehicle was classic and clean! Baie Dankie.
Super interesting tour. Thanks Mig 💓
A fantastic experience with MIG, who is patient, personable, and knowledgeable. He explained everything in as much detail as we desired. His insights into the locations opened up doors in our minds. Our driver, Walid, is a caring individual and a very skillful navigator of the roads. He got us to our destinations in a timely manner, despite the horrific traffic.
Excellent day with convivial guide and driver. We finished knowing so much more about the history of Alexandria and Egypt thanks to Mig's interesting and informative commentary. Highly recommended.
Well organised, punctual pickup, great driver and guide. Visited four sites in Alexandria, which were all very interesting. Our driver was always waiting to pick us up as we left each site and our guide, Meg, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Lunch was delicious. Definitely recommend the day trip to Alexandria.
Our guide Mig did a great job of explaining all of the complex history surrounding the many sites in Alexandria. Our driver did a masterful job getting us around without giving us a heart attack. Our only negative about the tour was that in the reviews it was mentioned how the guide was so informative on the ride to Alexandria from Cairo. However, our guide met us in Alexandria which means that we couldn't talk to anyone about what we were seeing (our wonderful driver didn't speak English). Otherwise, the tour was great. And lunch was really good with a view of the sea.
Today was such a wonderful day! Sheriff picked me up from my hotel, and we went together to Alexandria. He was very professional and drove safely and carefully throughout the entire trip. Alexandria is an amazing place, and after seeing all the important sights, Sheriff picked me up and we headed back to Cairo. He was very kind, polite, and helpful throughout the day. He also made sure I had all the water I needed. I really enjoyed the trip and would definitely recommend it!
Wonderful experience visiting Alexandria. Highly recommend!
Had a extremely pleasant and warm day out in Alexandria with norhan thank u so much u where great 👍
I had an amazing day trip to Alexandria with Mig as my guide, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We visited the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, Qaitbay Citadel, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Pompey’s Pillar, and Mig made every stop so interesting with his detailed knowledge and stories. He was extremely friendly, professional, and attentive throughout the entire day. Since I was traveling alone, I especially appreciated how comfortable and well taken care of he made me feel. He also did a great job explaining the history and significance of each place without making the tour feel rushed. I really enjoyed my day in Alexandria thanks to Mig, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone visiting Egypt. Thank you, Mig, for such a wonderful day!
Very good experience! Guide was excellent, very informative and kind. I went with my family and spent the day in Alexandria. Certainly recommended!
This was a wonderful and well planned tour. 10/10 recommend this as a great day trip.
I booked a private tour from Cairo to Alexandria and the overall experience was genuinely impressive. First, our driver Sharif made the 2.5‑hour trip feel like a fun road adventure instead of a long drive. He was super friendly, very accommodating, and had a great sense of humor. He even let me play my music on full blast — literally max volume like a mini club on wheels. It set the tone for the whole day. Our tour guide, Mig, was equally amazing. Extremely professional, very knowledgeable, and speaks perfect English. As we explored the catacombs, the Roman amphitheater, the citadel, and the stunning Alexandria Library, he shared facts and insights you won’t easily find in books. What I appreciated most is that he never rushed anything — he lets you take your time to walk around, explore, and really absorb each place. Mig also has a chill, easygoing vibe. He doesn’t talk like a typical tour guide who just lists facts and moves on. He goes into detail, explains the history in a way that feels alive, and makes the whole experience richer. You really get what you’re paying for — and more. Highly recommended if you want a smooth, fun, and informative Alexandria trip.
Perfect day, picked up on time in Cairo by Sherif, driven to Alexandria to meet our guide Meg and shown the Catacombs, Pompeii’s pillar, the Citadel and the modern library followed by lunch. Would highly recommend if you want to experience Alexandria.
Sharaf is very good in navigating and provide the best experience possible
Good experience with a friendly and knowledgeable driver cum tour guide. It was a fun and pleasant trip.
Shesho Sherif is very knowledgeable, helpful and kind driver. Highly recommended.
We had an excellent experience with Shesho Sharief as our driver and guide. He was professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable throughout the trip. The car was clean and very comfortable, which made all our journeys enjoyable. We took the Saqqara, Memphis, and Dahshur tour with him, as well as the Alexandria tour, and everything was perfectly organized and stress-free. He made sure we were comfortable at all times and shared interesting information about each place we visited. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable and excellent driver and guide in Egypt!
We spent a very nice day in Alexandria visiting the catacombs, the various archeological sites and the citadel. The Qaitbay citadel is definitely a must do, we loved it. A very special thanks to our private Driver from Cairo, Sherif. He’s been very kind with us and our 4 months baby. I recommend, it’s a 5 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
First a very smooth journey from Cairo to Alexandria with a perfect driver, we met our guide Mig in Alexandria continuing the perfect day with this experienced guide, offering a lot of time for questions and to explore the areas. Highly recommended.
Mig was excellent, he knew his history and culture of the area and gave us a real personalised tour. Every where we went we were given amble time to explore and ask any questions. Mig is very friendly, professional and gave us an excellent experience.
Our guide Mig made the experience just great. He was kind and told us about history and modern times in Alexandria. Great thanks. And our driver Sherif was so safe. We felt comfortable travelling with him.
Our tour was really nice, the guide Mig gave us a lot informations with a complete overview of the History of Alexandria. Our driver, Sherif was nice and the car comfortable.
We had a wonderful day in Alexandria. Sherif was a very friendly safe driver. Rewan was a great guide. She was very relaxed and knowledgeable and helped us take the best photos. She also found us a super restaurant for lunch. Highly recommend taking this tour 🙂
Our day tour was worth the money and we were able to see all the important sights in Alexandria.
Mig is a great tour guide and shares with us detailed history of different spots. Highly recommended for tourists travelling to Alexandria.
MiG, my guide was excellent and knowledgeable. I had a good day! Thank you for the driver and the guide, I really enjoyed the tour!
Our driver (Sherif) and guide (Mig) were excellent today. Mig gave very thorough explanations and answered all our questions. We had a lot of fun! Sherif was a good driver and took good care of us. We highly recommend!
Mig was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable and answered all our questions
Mig was fantastic, rode all around Alexandria learning about its history & had a fantastic lunch afterwards
Firstly, I will start by saying we booked our day to start with a 9.00 am pick up. As we were visiting during Ramadan, this pick up time was not suitable because of the earlier closing times at the various tour stops. We were contacted by our guide to advise an earlier pick up of 7.30, this wasn't an issue for us, but I think the time choices on the booking page should make allowance for this. We chose the private tour, meaning we didn't have to wait outside other hotels to pick up other tourists, which of course would have added more time to our day, on an already lengthy trip. Our driver got on with the journey in typical Egyptian style ( Horns / Phones and tiny gaps to squeeze through, all something you have to get used to) when driving in many countries around the world. So, we had a toilet break on the way. Arriving in Alexandria we needed to get to the Catacombs and meet up with Mig (the name he gives us to make life easier) our guide. We didn't include entry tickets as we were not sure of our fitness following an injury prior to our trip, but Mig ran us through the purchase of the tickets from the machine in no time at all. Mig was a very nice tour guide, with a lot of knowledge about the various sites we visited. He gave us lots of information, after which he enquired if we had any questions. We visited the Catacombs first, followed by the Amphitheatre, then the Library. Then we went for lunch which was included in our trip (without drinks) however we hadn't had any bottled water so Mig got us a large bottle of water with our meal. This was a seafood restaurant and the fish looked beautiful, but for some strange reason we chose to have the chicken (our mistake) Our last visit was to the Citadel. Mig is an extremely nice young man with a pleasant and calming demeaner. He does not rush you around and gives you spare time to go off on your own and spread your legs a little. If you don't catch what he says, just ask him to repeat it and he will be happy to. He is patient and very courteous, We would recommend him as your choice of guide if you were given the opportunity to request one. So now we head home with our driver. No need for a toilet stop but I'm sure he would had accommodated us, if we had asked. We have to admit, at our age it is not so comfortable sitting in a car for such a long drive nowadays. So if you have a chance to request a larger / plusher car for your comfort (even if you need to pay a little extra for it) I suggest you do. So all in all, what a brilliant day out. So when you break it down, the cost of this trip (a driver and car, all day. A guide for 3/4 hours. A meal in a seafood beach restaurant. A choice of which entry tickets you want to buy / which are also cheap) it's nothing short of an absolute bargain. It's a long day on the road, but if you're staying in Cairo and you want to get a taste of Alexandria, give it a go. AND DON'T FORGET THE TIP FOR THE DRIVER AND THE GUIDE
If you’re looking for a seamless, enlightening, and genuinely fun way to see Alexandria from Cairo, look no further. Our day trip was absolutely perfect, thanks to the dream team of Sherif and Rewan. The Highlights * The Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa: A fascinating (and slightly eerie) look at how different cultures blended their burial traditions. Rewan’s storytelling really brought the history to life here. * Pompey’s Pillar: An impressive sight with a great backstory that we wouldn’t have fully appreciated without a guide. * The Roman Theater: It’s incredibly well-preserved and offers a great perspective on ancient social life in the city. * The Bibliotheca Alexandrina: A stunning modern contrast to the ancient sites. It’s a must-see for the architecture alone. Why This Team Rocks Rewan (Our Guide): Her knowledge is encyclopedic, but she delivers it with such passion and clarity that it never feels like a lecture. She knew all the best spots for photos and managed our time perfectly so we never felt rushed. Sherif (Our Driver): Cairo to Alexandria traffic is no joke, but Sherif handled it like a total pro. The car was spotless, the AC was ice-cold, and we felt completely safe and relaxed throughout the entire journey. Final Verdict The history of Alexandria is layered and complex; having experts like Sherif and Rewan to navigate the city and the stories made all the difference. This wasn’t just a tour; it was an experience. Highly recommended!
Amazing guide! Very professional, patient, and attentive to our needs. From the detailed commentary to the thoughtful logistics, everything was perfect. Full marks!
We booked this as a Private tour, however this is not the case. The transfers to and from Alexandria are Private but the touring aspect when going to the local attractions are part of a group. So this is a bit misleading. I would recommend you buy your own lunch as well. We chose to include the lunch and it was pretty basic unfortunately. A piece of fish on a plate with a sprinkle of grated carrot. Also ended a lot closer to dinner time by the time we ate. Our guide was knowledgeable but rushed us from place to place and kept telling us that we should have had an earlier start to the day, as we chose the 9am start option. As the touring company are the experts, they shouldn’t offer such a “late” starting option then. Also didn’t appreciate being told to give a 5 star review by our guide whilst eating. He wanted us to complete it then and there and show him that we all completed a 5 star review. I was the only one in the group who refused to do so after he insisted on several occasions. I would suggest to shop around before you book your day trip to Alexandria.
We did a day trip to Alexandria from Cairo and had a great experience. Rewan did a great job explaining the history of the city and patiently showed us around without rushing us anywhere. Our drive was also good from and back to Cairo city.
