The square is subject to frequent gatherings which can be volatile, and really should be avoided by foreigners during those times. In calmer moments the square shows the wear and tear of revolution but is pretty central to modern Egyptian political life. Just west of the roundabout is a street called El-Tahrir Street. It is covered in murals depicting the revolutionary feelings. Great artwork. Warm people. Depending on the political climate, worth taking a look.
At a height of 600 feet, this tower offers magnificent views of the entire city and monuments from its revolving rooftop restaurant and bar.
Discover Felucca Rides On The Nile In Cairo. These Egyptian sailboats have been used for millennia to move up & down the Nile, but they are also an ideal way for a relaxing night, making the most of stay.
Is a major north-to-south street in the walled city of historic Cairo, Egypt. It is one of Cairo's oldest streets as it dates back to the foundation of the city (not counting the earlier Fustat) by the Fatimid dynasty in the 10th century, under their fourth caliph, Al-Mu'izz li-Din Allah (after whom the street is named).[1] Historically, it was the most important artery of the city and was often referred to as the Qasaba (or Qasabah). It constituted the main axis of the city's economic zones where its souqs (markets) were concentrated. The street's prestige also attracted the construction of many monumental religious and charitable buildings commissioned by Egypt's rulers and elites, making it a dense repository of historic Islamic architecture in Cairo. This is especially evident in the Bayn al-Qasrayn area, which is lined with some of the most important monuments of Islamic Cairo.
Walking down El Moez Street there are so many beautiful buildings to be admired, among them being the famous Al Aqmar mosque. One of the oldest mosques in Egypt, its façade is known for its detailed stonework, while its interior welcomes all visitors with a fresh, cooling breeze. A haven for architectural enthusiasts, Al Qamar mosque is said to have been built during the Fatimid period in 1125 AD under the regime of Al-Ma’mun Al Bata’ihi, though some historians argue it was built during the caliphate of Imam Al-Amir bi-Ahkami l-Lah; others still claim that it was built during the caliphate of Al Mustansir.
The mosque is located at the beginning of al-Muizz li Din Allah Street, adjacent to the Fatimid northern wall of the Old City of Cairo in Egypt, only a few steps away from Bab al-Futuh (Gate of Conquest) and Bab al-Nasr (Gate of Victory). At the time of its construction, the mosque lay outside the brick-built walls encircling Fatimid Cairo, constructed by order of Jawhar al-Saqalli, the commander of the armies of the Fatimid caliph, al-Muizz li-Din Allah in AH 359 / AD 970. In AH 480 / AD 1087. Badr al-Din al-Jamali, minister of the Fatimid caliph al-Mustansir, undertook the expansion of the city on the northern and southern ends, for a distance of 150 m. He built the new walls out of stone and the north wall butted on to the northeastern wall of the mosque, Cairo, Egypt

Had a wonderful day on the Have a walk in old Cairo with a visit to Cairo tower tour. I very much enjoyed the 1 hour boat tour on the Nile river it was so calm. The walk in Old Cairo was great and I got to take many photos !! The traditional lunch was great and the views from the Cairo Tower were magnificent and truly my highlight since I'm a solo traveler and travel with 2 real cameras. My tour guide Mr. Kerollos Haneen was wonderful and very informative regarding the history of Cairo and also very patient. He was able to answer all of my questions since I had so many !! Thank you again Mr. Haneen I had such a pleasant day and thank the driver Mohommed for me.
This was a wonderful tour thanks to Amgad, the tour director and his very skilled driver. He was at the pickup point early waiting for me. He was so kind and patient and guided us with ease through the city to all the sites. The felucca ride was lovely and peaceful. The Cairo tower was great to get a nice overview of the city and to see the pyramids in the distance. The market place was amazing - i wish i had more time. The restaurant where we had lunch, Abou Tarek, was also a fine choice to get a taste of the local Kushari. I can't say enough nice things about Amgad. I am very grateful for such a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend this tour and the company as well.
Ahmed from Memphis tours was amazing, very welcoming and professional. Also our driver Bassam was amazing, he took care of us and also made us feel safe and welcome. We loved the experience of cairo tower, felucca ride, and walking through the awesome market. We had an excellent lunch at a local place too. We highly recommend it
Very interesting walk through old Cairo with stops at the largest mosque and other smaller ones. Interesting to walk through some old streets and finding out about the history and why buildings are positioned in a certain way. The old market street was vibrant but unfortunately a lot of the shops were closed due to it being Ramadan. Guide was very informative. The view from the Cairo tower shows just how big Cairo is. We had a wonderful lunch and finished with a faluca cruise on the Nile. Wonderful day and wonderful tour guide.
A wonderful experience.
Ahmed Baha'a: We had a great time with Ahmed, the explanations were clear, concise and interesting. Professional and smiling, we felt comfortable asking questions and he had answered our questions. We thank Ahmed for his accompaniment to the discovery of Ancient Egypt.
With SARAH, Francophone guide, AU Cairo, visit Museums and Souk, the guide with a captivating knowledge of Egyptian history. For the Souk interesting global tour, little more the guide knows small shops where quality objects are sold, made in EGYPT.
We had a good experience with our guide, Ayman. He was very hardworking and helpful, willing to help and provide an Egypt experience. Thank you for your support. We recommend your services.
Memphis Tours was on schedule. Mahmoud was an excellent guide, very professional, serious and gentleman. Drivers always on time. I highly recommend the guide!
Memphis Tours solved everything from start to finish in our 8 days! Perfect coordination and flexibility of everything we visited: pyramids, temples, meals, Nile cruise, local flights, anyway, we were not alone at any time. The guides Mohamed and Medhat are champions, they know a lot and explained every detail and query (all in Spanish). Thank you! We traveled the country from north (Cairo) to south (Abu Simbel) accompanied by tourism professionals, all quiet and at no time felt unsafe. Egypt is a great country and worth coming to. I assure you that with Memphis the experience will be unforgettable and you should not worry about anything. The service on the cruise ship Salacia with all its crew was outstanding. We had a great time! Thanks also to the country officials (Ibrahim and Yahya) and the drivers. Geniuses! Very grateful.
Beautiful trip the Guide who accompanied us on the fantastic Nile and also the other guides to redo Milad was unique
It was an amazing tour, to be able to see the reality of the daily life of the Egyptian people, visualize the city from the top of the tower, sail boat through the Nile and finish a typical dinner!
I put the highest score only for the fabulous guide we have had on our visits to the River Nile: Yehia El Gizawy (Juan). Respectful, good person and with great knowledge of everything.
Great ride on the Nile, great Koshary food and really nice night views from Cairo Tower. And of course a great care!
Perfect organization, professional guides, timely and accurate Egyptair transfers and flights, priceless Dahabiya cruise ... We already knew the Nile Valley and its wonders, but Memphis Tour and its collaborators provided us with first-class support ... let us advise you, it is really worth it ...
It was an exceptional Tour, I had the opportunity to meet many people. Especially the guide Ibrahim the Sherbiny who accompanied me on tours during Cairo. The service was very punctual and flexible understanding my tastes and my schedules. I also wanted to highlight the work of Hanan Mahmoud who helped me throughout the booking and organization. It was a very special tour!! and I am sure that I will make future trips with this company
There is no video, documentary or photo that can give as much amazement and emotion as the real-life visit to the treasures of Egypt, both by visiting the archaeological sites and admiring the natural panorama during the Nile cruise. We traveled in May, at the beginning of the low season, but still in time to avoid melting in the great southern heat. The advantage was that we didn't find any crowds or queues. The staff at Memphis was exceptional and very professional. In each city we were welcomed and facilitated in all steps by the agency representatives who assisted us in everything with great availability and courtesy (Abdul in Cairo, Ahmed in Luxor and Ramadan in Aswan). I fondly remember the excellent guides who accompanied us: Emilio in Abu Simbel, Alì for four days in the sites visited during the Nile cruise and finally the prof. Sherif in Cairo. Even during the booking and organization phase we were followed by Khaloud with great kindness and precision. Lastly, something that may seem like a small thing, but it isn't, we have always been provided with the necessary water. I definitely recommend relying on Menphis Tour for trips to Egypt.
Excellent agency with excellent guides, especially Ahmed Alaa, a very young boy but with great knowledge, kindness and willing to help you, he speaks Spanish well which helped a lot to make the transfers and visits!
Tour of Egypt,Our German speaking guides accompanied us with friendly and very competent kind in the trip.Everything was super organized, Wonderful experiences.Big thanks!
Very good accompaniment to parts of Cairo where I would not go alone. Thank you for showing me the real Cairo and its mosques witnessing the rich history of Egypt.
First day in Cairo and excellent care from Rania, our guide that day and in general, our executive, as she was watching us during our stay in Cairo, as she supported us with check in at the hotel, check in at local airports. Very friendly and always willing to answer our questions In addition to the city tour, he took us to know the bowels of Cairo, knowing a typical place of old Cairo, showing us various details of daily life All we have to do is thank you for the excellent care and coordination, everything worked perfectly
Great. The guided tour with Noha is a fantastic experience. Driver Walihd a great professional. Unforgettable.
We rode our honeymoon through Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor and Hughada, and organized our wedding with the help of the Memphis Tours team at Pharaonic Village in Cairo. Their team is simply excellent... in every respect. Our guides, Abdel in Cairo and Alexandria. and Lili in Luxor, in addition to being able to speak a perfect Portuguese, showed a very deep knowledge of the Egyptian culture, and the places we visited. The team responsible for the organization, Hisham and Mahmoud, were simply fantastic in all respects, leaving us completely free to simply enjoy the moments as they adjusted every small detail to ensure our tranquility. The drivers were all excellent, very careful in dealing with us, however it was a more specific function of the guides... They did not leave us without water at any time. Returning to Brazil, we saw that the people of Memphis Tours we met in Egypt, our guides, organizers and drivers became our friends... I recommend to everyone this Enterprise for those who come to Egypt... is the certainty of a well-organized trip

Cairo is one of the most beautiful experiences we have ever had together. The Bazaar, the Falluca ride, the Koshary, the Cairo Tower and all the colors and other details (including the 10-minute storm that fell that day), along with the excellent attention of Muhammad, Egypt’s best guide 😃, made our trip one of the best we have ever done. Thanks Memphis Tours!!!
