This museum is impressive. It’s huge. We really liked the King Tut exhibit. It was pretty crowded, but it’s so big the crowds spread out.

Once in a lifetime experience. Extremely moving and eye-opener day Our guide Mina was perfect. Super knowledgeable, kind. He crafted a perfect day, from pyramids to grand Egyptian museum and explaining the evolution, from old kingdom time to Roman Empire The driver was super kind too, the car very comfortable We are grateful and thankful
Absolutely extraordinary, beautiful museum that is mesmerising and so stunningly curated. This is by far my favourite museum in the world. You need to set aside at least a few hours and perhaps come back across two half day visits to do it justice. It really helps to visit with a knowledgeable and professional guide who can explain the history and show you the most significant pieces. Stunning - do not miss it!
Mohammad was a fabulous guide! We had so much fun with him!
This is an absolute must see if you visit Cairo. Spent an afternoon there, but I think it would have been worth spending a whole day here. The exhibits are totally amazing even if you’re not into history. The facilities are state of the art and there are excellent restaurants and shops as well. If you want a great engaging guide, then contact Marwa on WhatsApp at +20 100 055 7072
Amazing Global Travel arranged everything. was terrific
We had the best day trip to Alexandria! Our tour guide, Waleed, went above and beyond for us, he was also very knowledgeable and fun! I highly recommend this tour!!
I had an amazing experience on this trip! Everything was very well organized, and the tour was enjoyable from beginning to end. The guide was friendly, helpful, and very. I really enjoyed the experience and had a great time. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Egypt. Thank you for making this trip so special!
If I could give 100/10 I would. Madonna was not only knowledgeable but so welcoming. I will be back and brining my entire family. The BEST!!!!
it a whole diffrent experience
Great experience, the guide had knowledge the spot was incredible, I recommend it
If you’re thinking about booking this tour, don’t hesitate—just do it! This was hands down one of the best tours I’ve ever been on. My guide, Paula Samir, was absolutely amazing. From the moment we met, they made me feel comfortable, welcome, and completely at ease throughout the entire experience. Their knowledge of the Pyramids of Giza, Egyptian history, and the surrounding sites was incredible. Every stop came to life through fascinating stories and details that I never would have learned on my own. They were patient with every question, never rushed the tour, and made sure I had plenty of time to take in the views and capture great photos. What really set this tour apart was how genuine and passionate Paula was. You could tell they truly love sharing Egypt with visitors, and that enthusiasm made the experience unforgettable. I never felt like just another tourist—I felt like I was getting a personal tour from someone who genuinely cared about making my visit special. Visiting the Pyramids is already a bucket-list experience, but having PaulaSamir as my guide made it absolutely unreal. It exceeded every expectation I had and became one of the highlights of my travels. If you want an unforgettable, informative, and stress-free experience at the Pyramids of Giza, book this tour and ask for Paula Samir. You won’t regret it!
Ahmed Salah was very knowledgeable and professional. The driver was prompt and everyone worked with us in terms of schedule. It was a very beautiful and comfortable excursion.
We had such a great experience in Cairo
. . . we booked independently, took a private taxi and decided that we didn’t want to be part of a large tour. The building is vast and became very busy so we were pleased we arrived early. We made for what we really wanted to see rather than aimlessly wandering around; the Tutankhamun collection. The entrance to the building itself is a long walk on hot tiles with absolutely no cover. Expensive eateries with the usual souvenir shop full of expensive ‘tat’. We saw what we wanted and left as the crowds descended with the inevitable queues.
Lamia made our Grand Egyptian Museum visit truly memorable. She was very knowledgeable and made the whole tour interesting from start to finish. Her English was excellent, and she spoke very clearly, which made everything easy to follow. My family and I especially enjoyed how she shared the history of women in Egypt, including the powerful queens, which added something special to the experience. We would definitely recommend her to anyone visiting the museum.
Very informative tour. He really did his best to include us and see what we prefer to do. Highly recommended! A great experience with a great person to guide you.
10/10 review, where do I start? Great organisation, comfortable car from Alexandria to Cairo. There we met our guide Paula Sa Samir who was very knowledgable and patient. He genuinely enjoyed his time showing us around with the occasional detail on the way. We had a great camel ride, meal with view of the pyramids and went to the foot of the pyramids and sphinx themselves. Most special of all, I proposed to my special one at the Pyramids, and he took a great video and photo shoot for us, what a present for us. Please take the tour if you are going to Egypt, you won’t regret it, and thanks again Paula as Samir for your great hospitality!
I had the pleasure of visiting the Grand Egyptian Museum with an outstanding team. The service exceeded my expectations, and everything was perfectly organized from start to finish. A special thanks to our driver, who was both friendly and reassuring. His careful and professional driving made us feel safe and comfortable, especially considering the heavy traffic, where cars seem to overtake and come from every direction. The Grand Egyptian Museum is truly impressive. It offers a fascinating journey through the history of Egypt and helps visitors better understand the evolution of one of the world’s greatest civilizations. Thank you to the entire team for making this such a memorable experience. I highly recommend this tour and this team to anyone planning to visit the Grand Egyptian Museum.
This was a very interesting tour. Our local guide Walid was very knowledgeable and professional. He explained everything in very detail and we learned a lot about Alexandria. Our driver was very responsible. We really enjoyed the tour.
This museum is very large. be prepared to walk a lot and be overwhelmed. King Tuts exhibit will amaze you.. Try to do half and have lunch at the resturants and then do the 2nd half. You need a guide to explain the items on display. Bathrooms were the best I've seen anywhere in the world!!!!
This was a well organised and insightful guided tour to the El Alamein battlefield. Our guide, Mahmood, was knowledgeable, not just about the Second World War, but the entire range of Egyptian history. Highly recommended as part of a visit to Alexandria.
Great tour highly recommend the guide was super friendly and informative. Highly recommend.
It was a wonderful experience, the guide Ahmed is prepared, kind and friendly... I will recommend it to all my friends It was a pleasure, thanks for everything, see you next time 💪🏻
A varied and interesting day trip. The highlight was the catacombs - truly amazing. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and we were well looked after.
Great tour of pyramids and museum with a very knowledgable guide!
26/1/26 Monday afternoon Yes this $1b museum is amazing, so huge and confusing. The leaflets supplied did not explain the overall building layout. How to get to the start of the cascade of exhibit rooms There were no internal directions apart from room to room. We had the dedicated Tut leaflet with the layout but absolutely no idea of how to get to it. Internal directions were non existent. The 'caves' occurred occasionally and the one we entered was so empty, dark and peaceful, but we had to move on to find Tut despite the interesting artefacts e.g. tattoos). Interpretation: many exhibits had repeated labels, alongside the specific label details for the item. Some larger items had the same sets of labels on other sides too, to prevent overcrowding on one side. On the big ramp up some of the interpretation was so dimly lit it was difficult to read. I got my LED torch out and was promptly told off although I was aiming at the text and not the granite statue (which will never fade). Some of the Tut displays were lacking in interpretation on all sides so it was difficult to read with many people in the way (not necessarily reading those labels). The great Tut mask was obviously busy with a rope and stand spiral into it, the staff trying to keep people moving past the amazing item (I missed it in London both times it toured). The 'entrance' was difficult to find so needs to be indicated with a tall stand 'gate'. We left the galleries at closing time to see a huge building with some ancient boats rebuilt in them ... were they included in the ticket prices? We had no idea! It was too late anyway and we were tired after four hours of traipsing around the enormous impressive spaces with impressive artefacts. We live in London and (luckily) can access the British Museum for free. Some of the exhibits might be there, many not obviously. The main attraction was Tut but he was difficult to find and we had to rush through interesting rooms in case we missed it.
Our guide, Madonna, was far beyond excellent, with an expert knowledge of the area, the exhibits, and history. She was extremely polite, caring, and humorous, making everything clear and truly engaging.
I had a great time in Egypt and really enjoyed the the Grand Egyptian Museum & Pyramids tour. Everything was well organized, and the team was very professional. Both Mohamed (Driver) & Mina ( tour guide) were excellent. I appreciate your hospitality and will gladly recommend your services. Thank you Tas
A guided tour with a passionate archeologist like Mahmoud has been an amazing experience. The stories and the amount of knowledge cannot be compared. If you are visiting Alexandria’s catacombs make sure Mahmoud is your guide!
Wow, what an incredible museum! We booked our tickets in advance through the official website, though a word of caution: I accidentally booked foreign national tickets for the English guided tour. Thankfully, the staff were extremely helpful and simply charged the difference at the desk, making the process easy and stress-free. We booked the museum’s guided tour, and I am so glad we did. Our two-hour tour with Mark was the best guided experience we’ve ever had. Engaging, evidence-driven, and full of fascinating history, he wove us seamlessly through the key artifacts while bringing the stories to life. If you’re lucky enough to get Mark as your guide, your tour will be unforgettable. The exhibits themselves are vast and beautifully curated. To see such an extraordinary collection gathered in one place is truly awe-inspiring. The museum also offers plenty of food and beverage options. We stopped at Ratios for coffee and pastries — tasty, good value, and a nice break during our visit. I’d read online that water bottles and backpacks weren’t allowed, but this didn’t seem to be the case. I’d recommend bringing water with you, though there’s also a small market inside where you can purchase it if needed. Overall, the GEM is a must-visit. Between the breathtaking exhibits, excellent facilities, and outstanding guided tours, it’s an experience that will stay with you long after you leave.
The Grand Egyptian Museum definitely lives up to it's name it is huge and incredible. Being able to see all the artifacts over thousands of years of history was truly special. The highlight of course was the Tutankhamun collection with the iconic death mask it was unbelievable to see in person. We did the museum by ourselves got there by taxi from our hotel in Cairo which cost about £4 and the entry tickets prebooked online were £22 each.
The recently opened Grand Egyptian Museum is one of the world’s great museums. Specialising in the history of ancient Egypt, anything any ancient Egyptian history enthusiast would want to see is here! This is a must see in Egypt!
Wessam is a very knowledgeable and professional tour guide Our driver, Ahmed, was helpful and pleasant They were on time and very kind It was a beautiful experience and I would definitely recommend them👌🏼
We used this company more than 15 years ago during a 2 day cruise stop in Alexandria and the tour and guide was above outstanding. Highly recommended and we have referred several friends to them when they visited Egypt and they all had a good experience. This time we only stopped over in Cairo for 2 days coming from another trip and this time we arranged and prepaid for one day at the Grand Egyptian museum with hotel pick up and lunch and second day going to Saqqara with lunch. The company was prompt in responding to customize what we wanted to do and the day before the tour we received a message from our guide confirming the pick up time. He was punctual and the driver was friendly with an older vehicle that wasn’t in the best shape but it was clean. The museum visit was great and our guide took us to the highlights and made sure we had enough time to see everything that we wanted. At the end of the museum visit, he was not aware that lunch was included so I’m not sure if it was not communicated to him from the company or not. After I messaged the company and he spoke to them, we went to a nice restaurant that is for tour groups and had a nice buffet lunch. The guide seemed put out and upset that I had messaged the company so not much was said after lunch on the way back to the hotel. About 10 minutes from the hotel the guide was dropped and driver brought us back to the hotel so the guide could get transportation home. We have never had that happen before on any tour. It also happened the second day. The second day we received a message from the guide saying they would be 15 min late because the driver overslept. They arrived 15 min late and the vehicle was not in the best shape and was dirty inside with even footprints in mud on the back of drivers seat and windows were dirty and I couldn’t take photos through the window. Different car and driver from the first day. Driver was pleasant and once we dropped the guide off the second day the driver pointed out some landmarks to us that the guide didn’t. The visit to saqqara and serapheum was amazing and the guide provided a lot of information and assistance. We stopped at the same restaurant for lunch since it seems restaurants with higher standards are few and far between other than at hotels. Highly recommend the Saqqara visit but be advised there are not any toilets or toilet stops except for a few port-a-potties at serapheum. We thoroughly enjoyed both tours. The museum is a must see. When not viewing the sites, the guide didn’t tell unless we asked a question and he was sometimes difficult to understand. A few times it seemed he did not understand our questions so I never repeated. He did look after us very well. I would recommend the company but be sure to have your itinerary and inclusions printed out and with you to go over with the guide at the start of your tour. It’s the little things such as lack of communication about lunch and conditions of vehicles and being late that kept me from giving an excellent rating. A suggestion to the company is to have a print out of the itinerary for the guide to go over everything at the start of the tour. That is what was done years ago. A lot more attention to detail many years ago and seemed a little more professional.
fabulous museum. you cannot arrive earlier than your ticket opening time and waiting outside is annoying. no shade and no cafe or place to sit or giftshop. Inside the signage is poor - follow the crowds to find King Tut. This is the full display of everything from the tomb and is really impressive. I wished the room had a mezzanine so you could see the artifacts from above too. The boat room is better designed to view from above. would be good to see some pop up shops for a coffee or ice cream in other locations with small seating options. It would be good to have a separate book shop. The food options are varied and good and all in the ground floor food area.
Very informative tour and history lesson. Mina, our tour guide, is well versed in Egyptian history. Would definitely recommend him and would use him for other tours if we return. This was a private tour with easy pickup and drop-off at our hotel.
The Grand Egyptian Museum was wonderful. However I am writing this review as a warning to others to check what they have booked. We booked everything through BA - flights, hotel, transfers and trips. We thought we had booked a trip to the new museum. However, our BA voucher only said 'museum' so we had actually booked the old museum. Our tour guide said that lots of people had made the same mistake - so take care.
This is the best museum I have visited since the acropolis. The design is fabulous and the exhibitions are thoughtfully narrated. Worth every penny!!!
The Grand Egyptian Museum was my first stop in Cairo, and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. I only wish I had allowed myself more time to explore, as unfortunately I had to leave after just a couple of hours due to time constraints. One of the true highlights of my visit was my guide, Mr. Paula. His depth of knowledge about the artifacts and the rich history behind them was genuinely impressive and brought the entire experience to life. He has a remarkable way of explaining things that makes the past feel vivid and meaningful. He is also a talented photographer and kindly took many wonderful photos of me, both at the museum and at the pyramids. Beyond his expertise, he is a warm, thoughtful, and kind person. I feel truly grateful to have had him as my guide.
Hi, because a flight schedule changes we are not able to complete this tour, we cancelled 5 days before but tour operator charged us before a supplement because for them we will be too far from the museum and we have to pay an extra $30 usd to get picked up and dropped off at our hotel. After we be forced to cancel this tour we ask them to reimburse us the supplement we paid and we obviously don’t use it and they never returned our message. So for the future please don’t pay nothing in advance, look like this company is not trustworthy.
So excited to finally get here after ten years of almost opening. Really an exceptional museum that has raised the bar to to global standards. Well organized, good cafes and restaurants and even some decent shopping.
Museum can be crowded. Guide knew how to miss some crowds. Lots to see. Guide of lots of historical information. Gave us time to wander.
During our holiday in Egypt, we visited the Grand Egyptian Museum. It had just opened the month before and we were looking forward to visiting it. We bought the tickets online and the process was very quick and smooth. We booked an Uber to take us there and it was pretty straight forward. However, the return was a nightmare. Every Uber we booked would text us and ask for three times the fare on the app and then cancel if we did not agree to pay. We eventually ended up paying that triple fare after trying for 45 minutes. The Museum itself is actually not that large, but the exhibits are quite a few. The signage and wayfinding need serious improvement. I would recommend that you find the Tutankhamun exhibit first. It's displayed really well. Bear in mind that if you are truly interested in Egyptian history, you could easily spend a couple of days here. There are a few cafes and restaurants at the entry level. Bear in mind these get pretty crowded throughout the day. We had lunch at Bittersweet and coffee at 30 North. The museum also has the requisite overpriced gift shop. They have an interesting automated machine that will write your name in hieroglyphics with a small drawing. In all, worth a visit for sure. Just make sure you've got the travel arrangements sorted out.
I visited GEM (Grand Egyptian Museum) late at night, where I was invited to a Ramadan event. First, I was greeted by the gentle, friendly, and beautiful puppy "Mimi", then I walked to where the event venue was. It was great because I had to go through most of the museum. Everything in this place checks. The design, the cleanliness, the staff, and, oh yes, the museum's contents; they are all perfect.
I had a very nice GEM tour today. It's very interessting with a so educated and kind guide. Book this tour and you will have the same nice experience.
Energetic, informative and friendly, we enjoyed experience so much more because of Rose, given us an insight into history and culture of ancient Egypt and it's people, thanks very much, highly recommend 🙏🙏🙏
A fantastic museum. I wondered if it would live up to the hype and it did. It really is exceptional. I particularly loved the wing with all the treasures from the Tutankhamen tomb.
Superlative and vast. You would need two or three days to do it justice. A few comments 1. You do not need a guide the exhibits are well described and the audio guide is excellent 2 If King Tut is your main interest get to the gate at 8.30 and once through security aim straight up the escalator to the top and visit Gallery10 first - it took us three hours and by the end it was very crowded. 3. There appears to be a lull at lunch time as half day trips leave and others arrive 4. If staying in a hotel near by don't risk crossing the road get a taxi. We reckon it was the hairiest road crossing we have ever done.
This is without doubt the best museum I’ve even been to. Unbelievably beautiful and so many treasures to explore. You will need more than one day if you can. Facilities for people with mobility issues are very good. Lifts, escalators, benches. Also tactile models for those with limited vision.
