It was very family friendly tour with Zenab as out guide. We did enjoy every bit of it. Learning a lot about the Greek & Roman history of Egypt while exploring the Catacombs, Pompey's pillar. We learned about modern history through the New Library of Alexandria. Lunch was great overlooking the Mediterranean.

This was a great tour. All of the sites were interesting, and our guide was great. He was very friendly, actually the friendliest guide that we had on our trip. He gave us plenty of time, answered all of our questions, and chose a great place for lunch with a view. I highly recommend using this guide.
Stepping back in time of ancient conquerors and unrivalled knowledge, our private day trip to Alexandria was an experience draped in historical grandeur and Mediterranean charm. Led by the incredibly knowledgeable Zenab, our adventure rewound to the days of Alexander the Great. We descended into the Roman Catacombs, with its eerie chambers. Standing before the soaring Pompey's pillar, we were left awestruck. Yet, it was the disc - shaped marvel of the New Alexandria Library, that took our breath away. Amid these wonders, a delectable seafood lunch awaited us. Zenab's expertise shone brightest here, as she wove the city's past with its lively present. Highly recommend this tour for anyone seeking a taste of Egypt's historical treasures in a single, unforgettable day trip.
Eslam was a great tour guide!!His English is exceptional and his knowledge even better! He was always kind and answered all our questions, and believe me we asked a lot!He was kind and discrete at all times and very explanatory! The places he took us, from cafe to restaurant, were traditional with very tasty food and clean! He helped us with the pictures and the driver he had with him, was great under the circumstances as well!
Nor was an amazing tour guide! We booked with tree of life and he was so knowledgeable, ensured if we needed coffee or toilet stops we did, kept us on schedule without rushing, and made our Alexandria day trip so memorable. he ended up seeing us 3 days later at the airport and from kindness of his heart walked and helped us from Luxor arrivals back to Cairo departure when our own guide that day left us high and dry. Nor, you are wonderful - from Jemely and Jerry we appreciate you so!
Absolutely amazing. Mimo was extremely knowledgeable and knew the best places for food(he knows the way to a fat “kids” heart). But the history and insight he shared of the places was appreciated and I loved every minute of it. Hussein is an amazing driver. He navigated the streets like a total professional. I would go again with these 2.
There was no free wifi on board and the drinks refered were a few bottles of water. The restaurant they took us had poor quality and I was later told by someone I was lucky not to choose fish.
Gouda is a fantastic tour guide—exceptionally knowledgeable and funny. But he also is extraordinarily kind. He had water ready for us for the expected very hot weather. Then, he helped my wife up and down uneven stairs on his own initiative. Great tour—great guide.
Guide Fatima and driver Mohammed provided a fully choreographed experience of Alexandria, responding to my time commitments at each of four stops made. Although young, Fatima had a wealth of knowledge of Egyptology. Infectious enthusiasm and good humor, and desire to please made for a fine day, and Mohammed’s driving skills were reassuring. Although it was a long day, given the round commute from Cairo, time passed quickly in Fatima’s always entertaining company.
The tour hit all the important sites and went out of his way to include a site which was specific to our area of interest
Yasser was an excellent guide for our private tour to Alexandria. He was very friendly and provided insightful commentary about the sites we visited. During the drive to Alexandria he talked about life and history of Egypt. Tamer was an excellent driver of our van.
We were so excited about visiting Alexandria...but that all went down hill when we realised our tour guide was more passionate about getting himself and the driver back to Cairo as soon as possible. He spent less than 15/20 mins at a couple of the stops (even though the program says 1 hour) and was most excited when we had our lunch stop. The worst thing he did was lie about the library being closed when my wife and I both new that it was opening late in the afternoon on Friday. He asked the security guard only after we demanded that he check because we knew he was wrong, and he still had the nerve to say to us that it was closed after the security guard held up two fingers to indicate the 2pm opening time. I have never seen such dishonesty from a tour guide before. After the library incident he could barely look us in the eye or hold a conversation. Overall, the guide provided no interesting information to us the whole day. We had to basically ask all the questions and mostly were received with very short answers that were not even accurate when we fact checked them. I do not recommend this tour at all. Go and visit Alexandria by yourself. Biggest waste of money during our 6 months of travel. Wish I could give it zero stars...
Tour guide was very disengaged, not friendly or personable. Alexandria was really an ok city to visit.
Mohamed Hassan arrived right on time to meet me at my hotel in the morning. He gave me options of what to see during the day. I found him to be friendly and knowledgeable. He answered my questions not only about what we were seeing, but also about Egyptian culture. He knew all the "secret" spots at each location and the best places to take photos. The restaurant we went to for lunch was excellent, and had a great view of the harbour.
We had a great tour of the ancient city of Alexandria. The entire day went well and both our tour guide Yasser and our driver Ahmed were great. They were spot on time for our pick up from our hotel. During our drive to Alexandria, our guide Yasser gave us a lot of information and tidbits. He also explained in detail all the sights we were gonna see and gave us a bit of history lesson on these places. We started with the catacombs which was very exciting and packed with a lot of history. We moved on to the pillar of Pompey followed by Qatibay castle. At both places, our tour guide was attentive telling us stories and helping us take pictures. We had a nice lunch by a seaside restaurant where they were happy to accommodate our vegetarian needs. We ended our day at the City of Alexandria with a guided tour of Bibliotheca Alexandria. Overall both our tour guide Yasser and our driver Ahmed were professional, friendly, and courteous. We will wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone who wishes to see the historic city of Alexandria.
Our guide Fatima was wonderful!! She shared lots of information and answered our many questions. She allowed plenty of time and also timed all to work with my bad leg. Would recommend her to others !!!
Excellent trip. Guide Mohammed Yasser and driver Husham were great and very helpful. All in all an enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.
This was a really great day trip to Alexandria. Our guide took us to the site of the lighthouse, Pompey’s Column and also to the Roman Catacombs. The trip included an excellent lunch overlooking the harbour too. It is a very quick visit, but if you are short on time and have a whole day to spare, then this road trip is well worth considering. Enjoy...
Loved this tour; also our guide Fatma was amazing and our driver was great as well. Highly recommend this tour; learned many interesting thins about Alexandria. Great experience overall
We had an amazing day going to Alexandria and not only visiting wonderful sites but also learning many interesting facts. However, the highlight was our guide Fatma. She was simply the best guide we have had and we loved the experience. Great combination of knowledgeable advise, good food and lots of fun with Fatma. Highly recommend this tour and Fatma.
Fatma was the best tour guide I have ever had (and being to over 20 countries and on numerous tours that says a lot). She was energetic, funny, and knew more information than any other guide I have had. She told us the details of each place and really took time to give us a full understanding of each site we visited. She made our day exceptional and I would recommend people to request her when doing tours - she is just absolutely fantastic! Truly made our time in Alexandria memorable and joyful.
I’ve traveled so many places in the world and find a guide vital in cities like New Delhi or Beijing; Cairo is no different. We had a guide named Radwan Setohy. His knowledge and love for history made our visit to Alexandria such a great experience. Visiting a place like Egypt evokes so many feelings and emotions. It’s such a transcendent experience. Having one so knowledgeable about history brings so much more meaning to the experience. I always feel a little sadness saying goodbye to a great guide like Radwan. They bring so much to the experience with their wealth of knowledge and obvious love for what they do. I highly recommend him and will pass his name on to family and friends.
We really enjoyed our day trip to Alexandria. Ashraf our Egyptologist guide and Nour our driver from Tree of Life Tours were both phenomenal. They made us feel so comfortable, safe and engaged the entire day. We went to the theater complex, catacombs, had a delicious lunch at the fish market overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, saw a 100 year old bus still in operation, then off to the modern library and the lighthouse. Ashraf also opted to take us to another site where we learned the history of papyrus paper and saw a demonstration on how it’s made. I would definitely recommend this tour with Ashraf and Nour!!
My Husband & I did a private tour to Alexandria with our awesome guide Fatma Mohammed. Fatma was on time and from the very beginning of the tour we felt comfortable with her and the Driver Michell. She has so much knowledge of the Egyptian history and is so easy to get along with. A big thank you to her for giving us such a memorable day.
We had booked the tour weeks in advance but we’re unfortunately I formed that there was no availability for the tour only days before, we were already in Egypt and had to change our schedule in order to make it on our last day before the flight. That being said our tour guide Eslam was very knowledgeable and friendly, the seafood restaurant was very good. The sites we visited were well maintained and the visit of the library was not very captivating. Most of the visit we were shown their official website.
The full day excursion was very pleasant. Thanks to Hosni and the driver (whom I have unfortunately forgotten the name), the drive was very pleasant. Hosni was knowledgeable and made the visit more enjoyable. The scenery was breathtaking and the all the antiquities made all the more interesting with Hosni's narration. Great job in making my trip a very memorable one. Thank you.
We really enjoyed this tour. The guide had great communication and was very keen to share his knowledge of Alexandria. The meal was fantastic and the sites were very interesting. Highly recommended.
We very much enjoyed our day in Alexandria. The sites did not disappoint, particularly Qaitbay, and lunch was delicious. Our guide was kind and knowledgeable, and answered all the questions I asked (and there were many!).
My wife and I chose the tour as it covered all that we wanted to see in Alexandia and was made enjoyable by Mina who was our tour guide. Mina was very knowledgeable, friendly, obliging, courteous and helpful and he gave us the sense that he was there to ensure we got the best out of the day. Akmed was our very skilful driver
I picked this tour because it seemed to cover most everything that was highly rated to do in Alexandria. Our tour guide Mina was incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly. At each site he provided a wealth of knowledge that deepened the cultural experience, making it all the more enjoyable. To finish it all off, the lunch at a seafood restaurant on the water was some of the best food we’ve had in Egypt so far. Overall, I would highly recommend! One note: just be aware that during Ramadan hours are limited at many sites so you may have less that ideal time at some places if you particularly like to explore, but this did not significantly impede our enjoyment! Great day!
Mina is a gracious and knowledgeable. Had a wonderful day visiting catacombs, Pompey pillar, amphitheatre, library and fortress. We topped it off with a fresh fish lunch at the shore of Alexandria harbor. Throughout our tour Mina was a treasure trove of historical and cultural presentations that helped us feel we were walking the steps of time throughout Alexandria's rich history. I could not speak more highly of Mina's friendliness, knowledge and planning! Thank you Mina!!!! NOTE TO WEBMASTER: My adult son and I were on this tour, but there was not a suitable family option for type of visit.
This was the best tour we had with our guide Radwan we had a great time he was very knowledgeable and learned a lot about the history of Alexandria also enjoyed our lunch while overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Excellent tour !
Good tour . About 3 hours journey from Cairo in a car. Alexandria is a good place to see once, if you are visiting Cairo. Visited the some temples and palace. had dinner at a beach restaurant
We loved our entire trip to Alexandria. Our tour guide Mira was fantastic. She was professional, very knowledgeable and ensured that we saw and experienced true Egyptian culture and it’s people. We highly recommend this tour and ask for Mira as your guide !
Started our private day tour excursion with Gouda at 7am who met us promptly in the lobby. We knew instantly it would be a good day as he is very friendly and informative and drove to Alexandria. At the start of the drive he gave us the low down of what to expect, some history and step by step where we would be going to. When we got there we explored the mysterious Catacombs of Kom el Shogafa, Pompey's pillar and the remains of the Serapeum temple around it, wonder at the majestic fort of Qaitbay that was built at the site of the ancient lighthouse of Alexandria (Pharos) overlooking the Mediterranean. Then ended with a visit the outstanding Bibliotheca Alexandrina. We enjoyed a seafood lunch and plenty of rest time as well. What we liked most is that our tour guide made sure we understood the history between the Egyptians, Greek and the Romans. We were so overwhelmed by the amount of history Alexandria holds and would recommend this tour for anyone that has a chance to visit Egypt.
We went in a private tour to Alexandria from Cairo. The drive was 3 hours but very smooth with no traffic. It was nice to see another city in Egypt besides Cairo. We visited the Catacombs, the Pompey’s pillar, the Roman theater and the Castle Qaitbay, where the light house once was. We were not able to see the Library because it is closed on Fridays. We ended the day with Syrian shawerma, which was so delicious and fulfilling. Our tour guide Yasser and driver Tamer were knowledgable and fun. Overall, a very nice tour!
Today we had great trip to Alexandria. A must visit city after pyramids. We visited Catacombs, Pampey’s pillar from second century. Then Roman theatre from 4th centuries. We learned great history of humanization in Egypt. Castle of Qoitkay. Wow what a magnificent structure built where the lighthouse at. Part of seven marvelous of old ancient world. Then we had lunch meal Shawerma. Yummy and yummy. Thanks to Yasser and Tree of Life
Today we had great time touring Alexandria with our guide Ashraf and driver Wael. Asharf came right on time to our hotel at 7am waiting for us. He explained everything on the way from Cairo to Alexandria. He showed us all the best historic places in great detail. He got us engaged with funny jokes on the way to keep us entertained. We recommend Ashraf as guide for anyone. Our one uncomfortable drive was the small car and smoke smell. Viator has mentioned in package that it includes a very nice clean VAN , but what they had was an old smalller than a mid size car. We are kind of disappointed with the car. After such a long trip we had very bad leg and back ache. Asharf did not have any control on the car selection as it was sent by another company. We hope viator will correct this issue.
Let me begin by saying how wonderful my guide and driver were. We had an instant connection on the journey to Alexandria. They made the trip very comfortable and informative. We hit all the major sites in Alexandria while enjoying lunch by the water. I highly recommend these gentlemen for your trip to explore glorious Alexandria.
I had a great day trip to Alexandria from Cairo with Rania and the driver. Rania was very informative, helpful, and patient. She recommended a great restaurant called Fish Market that had fresh fish and beautiful views of the Mediterranean sea. We went to all of the popular sites in Alexandria and they did not disappoint! Wish I had more time there. I highly recommend Rania to any travelers ... her goal is to deliver great service and ensure you enjoy the tour ... which I did!
Rania and her driver picked us up in the lobby of our Cairo hotel early in the day, and shared her love of Egypt and the sights of Alexandria in one, very full day. Very knowledgeable, engaging and personable, Rania made sure we visited all the important, historic spots in this old, seaside city. We were treated to a delicious lunch at a fish market, and were dropped off back at our hotel just in time for dinner. Highly recommend this guide.
What an amazing day! Our tour guide, the Egyptologist Ahmed Eraky, is not only a fantastic guide with immense knowledge, but also a great person in general. We learned so much from him and he made the tour very entertaining. It’s obvious that he has a genuine passion for his field of study. When we go back to Egypt for our second visit, we will definitely contact him again to be our tour guide! Our driver for the day was also great. How he managed to get us through the busy streets of Cairo and Alexandria so fast, I will never know. Alexandria is a beautiful city with a rich history. The sites that we visited were magnificent and the lunch at the Fish Market was delicious. I highly recommend this tour (especially if you can get Ahmed Eraky as your guide!).
I thoroughly enjoyed the full day trip to Alexandria from Cairo with my guide Ahmed Eraky. He was very knowledgable and happy to share fun facts and history and was engaging and humourous. We saw four key sights including the Fort Quaitbey and Bibliotechnica, Catacombs and Amould el-Siwari (Pompey’s Pillar). Eraky even helped me buy a sim card when we returned to Cairo. Thank you Eraky and to our professional driver, for a great time and comfortable journey for the full day.
Rania and Ahmed were great. Informative and friendly. Had a brilliant day with a lovely lunch at the fish market. The library was amazing.
I highly recommend Tree of Life Tours in Egypt. I spent an informative and enjoyable day in Alexandria with my guide, Rania and our driver, Ahmed. Rania was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. She paced the tour quickly enough that I could see everything, while still allowing time for pictures and questions. In addition to being an excellent driver, Ahmed spoke English and contributed positively to the discussions. It was a spectacular day - I learned a lot and had a great time!
Khaled Mamdoh was my guide for the day trip to Alexandria. He was simply spectacular. I had the pleasure of him being my private guide on two different days, which was great. He kept both tour fresh and knew what details he had already covered so it didn't seem like the same stories over and over again. (Separate review for the Cairo day tour). Back to Alexandria. I was promptly picked up at my hotel in the morning. At that time we discussed what was to be covered for the day. It was about 2.5 hour drive to Alexandria. Khaled covered a lot of Egyptian history along the way to prep me for what we were going to see. Alexandria was spectacular. I always felt safe, lunch was great, nothing rushed whatsoever.

This day trip was very nice, our guide, Wael , was great!!! he was very friendly, very educated, and was very good planning our trip, noticing if we were tired from the heat, etc... he gave us time to rest, and always asking us if we were doing ok. He made a big difference in our short trip to Egypt, We were very lucky to have him with us!

Our trip to Alexandria was absolutely fantastic, especially thanks to our guide Sam. This tour really opened our eyes, with visits to amazing cultural landmarks such as the ancient lighthouse, the impressive Pompey Column and the fascinating Roman catacombs. To top it all off, we enjoyed a delicious lunch overlooking the busy harbour that perfectly combined culture with well-deserved relaxation. This short but sweet tour is a fantastic choice for those who have little time but still want to experience the historic beauty of Alexandria. A special highlight was definitely a visit to the famous Alexandria Library, which rounded off a day of exploration and discovery.
This is the best guided tour I have ever experienced. It was beautifully organized by Tree of Life Tours and was done by our expert guide, Ashraf, in a modern, private and impeccable vehicle with air conditioning. It left us fascinated with all the points of interest, especially the catacombs, and lunch was pacifier.
Alexandria is more beautiful than Kohir. I had a lot of fun on the mountaineering and hiking with the spectacular view of the stormy and breaking Mediterranean waves this season. I also liked the local peppers and pools that I liked more than Cairo as well as the Egyptian sweets.
