Itinerary
Your Ramasside Tours guide and manager will be waiting inside the Alexandria Port for you. They will be holding a sign showing your name. You do not need to look for them – they will be waiting for you and will find you. From the moment your tour starts, your guides will give you full attention. Once in the car, your guide will talk to you about all the things on the way as well as other aspects of your tour that will interest you.
First, visit the insides of the Catacombs of Kom El Shokafa which are the largest Roman Cemetery consisting of three levels cut in the rock.
Then you will drive to visit the Roman Amphitheater of Alexandria with the display of the sunken monuments of Alexandria which were discovered under the East harbor of Alexandria.
You will also drive by Pompay’s Pillar and stop for a photo stop, (it was constructed in honor of Emperor Diocletian at the end of the 4th century).
The next stop is the library of Alexandria; the biggest library in the world – now with 8 million books. Visit it’s open court where you can see the statue of Alexander the Great and the statue of Ptolemy the first, which was found underwater nearby. You will visit the library famous president Saddat Museum and impressions of Alexandria Museum. Note: Alexandria Library is closed on Fridays and on every public holiday. To enter the reading area you will need to purchase a ticket.
The car will then take you to visit the church of St. Mark – the oldest church in Africa. Through your drive you will see the old downtown and the local historical architecture which has baroque style designs and Italian and French style properties.
The car will then transport you to the most beautiful and largest mosque in the city, allowing for a photo stop at the Abbo Elabbas Mosque.
Opposite is the corniche and the old harbour where you can see the old fishing boats, men fishing and traditional fishermen making nets. The photos taken here are amazing. Drive to visit Quaitbay castle which was built on the same site as the ancinet Lighthouse of Alexandria one of the seven wonders of ancient world. Once inside, you will see all parts of the castle and also go on the roof to see a panoramic view of the whole city.
The car will then take you to the gardens of Montaza. On the way you can quickly have a 2 minute stop by the King of Mango and drink at Alexandrian’s drive thru freshly squeezed juices plus have a photo stop at the memorial of the Unknown Soldier of Alexandria. The beautiful coastline and all the views of the city are en route to Montaza Palace and gardens which is approx 25 km away, including the old harbor of Alexandria where we found 7000 monuments underwater. Once in Montaza Gardens, commonly known as the Love Garden (all romantic couples and families go there) you will visit the royal gardens of King Farouk (the last king in the history of Egypt) and see the royal palaces of Haramlek and Salamlek as well as walk along the famous Montaza bridge and reach the Tea Palace island and see the royal beaches of the queens.
On your way back you will stop over the famous bridge of Stanley – the modern landmark of modern Alexandria, built by Alexander the great, then travel in comfort back to your hotel. Alexandria has so much to see, feel, eat and buy so if you have time and want to add more to your itinerary – just let us know what you are interested in and we will arrange it for you at the cost price – no profit to us.

Great way to see the best of Alexandria in a day. The trip was well-organised, and the tour guide was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive to the needs of the group. Well worth it.
Timely pick and then arrival in Alexandria. Excellent way to see many sights in Alexandria. We had a great fresh seafood lunch with a view.
The guide was amazing. He's very knowledgeable, accommodating, funny, and speak excellent English. We saw a lot in one day. I know next time where and when to go in Alexandria because of this one day introduction Catacombs and tea island were the highlights for me. Thank you 😊
Waleed was a great guide and there’s many sights to visit in a short period of time. The only downside the Citadel was viewed from a distance and i would skip the visit to Palace ( too much time was spent there) than to skip the Citadel visit altogether.
Alexandria cannot be missed. If your itinerary only gives you one day out of Cairo, this day trip accomplishes a lot. Mohamed was resourceful and attentive.
An amazing trip to understand the history of Alexandria. Special thanks to our tour guide Mr. Waleed Magdy who made our day sharing his rich knowledge about the history and archeological facts of the city. Also, thanks to Ms. Sylvia Shinouda for well arranging and organising our trip.
Highly enjoyable day trip with Waleed, Ramasside tours picked this amazing tour guide for us. The depth of his knowledge impressed us greatly. And, his kindness, patience, and passion for his profession made our time together exceptionally enjoyable and fulfilling. I believe that in the near future, I will visit Alexandria again, and I will continue to choose Ramasaide Tours and Waleed as my guide to explore more places.
Where to start? This full day exursion was amazing. I was treating my mum to an Egyptian break, and the driver and guide were amazing. The guide had exceptional knowledge of both Ancient Egyptians and modern 🇪🇬. This enthusiasm was infectious but what really made the trip special was the kindness, generosity, and understanding of both guide and driver to our needs was humbling. How we took in so many different wonderful sights and experiences in one day without ever feeling rushed was a tribute to the driver and guide.
Great day trip to Alexandria. Mohammed was an excellent tour guide. He explained everything and was very friendly. I was contacted when booked and the day before with details. Pickup was on time. It was a small group of 8 in a mini bus. Lunch was very good and overlooked the sea. Tip: it’s a long day so pick up breakfast the night before and some snack as the service station stop was not so good on the way
Our Tourguide Mohammed was amazing. We challenged him with a lot of questions about the historic and he handled it very good. We learned a lot about Alexandria and Egypt. Also the driver was very friendly and supportive. Thank you very much! It couldn't be better.
This trip was amazing! So worth the value. Our guide Waleed is so knowledgeable and funny he made sure we had a great experience and navigated a rainy day perfectly so we avoided getting wet but still saw all the stops. A must do!
Had a lovely day with our tour guide Mohamed - he was really informative and you could tell he loves the history behind Alexandria and Egypt. We found the trip was a perfect way to explore Alexandria in one day.
We had a good experience on the tour- were picked up promptly at 7am and taken to Alexandria where Waleed our guide was very thorough and showed us a bounty of sites. There were a couple of issues on the tour- there were some Brazilian people on the tour who had requested a Portuguese speaker and thst wasn't provided so they were rightfully frustrated- Waleed did his best with a translator but was still a bit chaotic. We were told we'd be back in Cairo around 7pm, it was actually 10.30pm and with an early flight the next day that made a difference. That being said the transport was comfortable, Waleed very good and the lunch included lovely.
Every thing was very good organised. Our Tour leader, Muhammad was very knowledgeable and explained us very detailed information about any places that WE have visited. His English IS very good. He IS a nice Person and I highly recommend him. However, I am Not Happy with a schedule of the company. When I booked the Tour, I got a full description about the Tour Programm. IT was written that the visiting traditional Marktes and their architecture are included, but I am really disappointed Because instead of visiting old Marktes and gold Market, WE were Taken to a very small Souvenir Shop which was extraordinary expensive and they sell only oil and Papyrus. I really wanted to visit old Marktes!
Its was a small group with Waleed Magdy as our guide. He was very thorough and was fun guy too! The weather was erratic when we arrived it was drizzling and soon after a slight hail and it all done in 10 mins when the sun comes to play! Alexandria is very pretty and less traffic and its easier to like the city. The history of the city was so rooted and it would have been perfect if I had the chance to visit the Bibliotheca but since it was Friday it was closed. Will come back to visit. If anyone intend to visit Alexandria, it is highly recommended to do this tour! Food was amazingly good!
Great tour, Mohammed was an excellent guide, highly recommend. Personal highlights were the Catacombs, The Roman Ruins and the St. Marks Cathedral👍
We spent a day going around Alexandria visiting interesting places to know better of the culture and history from pharaohs time to modern time. For those who are planning to stay for a short duration in Alexandria, we do recommend this trip. Special mention to our tour guide, Waleed Magdy; he is very knowledgeable about the history of the city and archeology findings around the area (there are too much to explore!). A good guy as a tour guide, that's for sure.
Waleed was such a good guide. He showed us so many places, different foods and local restaurants. In addition to that he told us a lot about the history. It was a great time and a pleasure to meet him.
Our guide Mohamed knows Alexandria by heart. He’s a passionate guide with an amazing archeology background. The tour was seamless, we couldn’t have seen the city in a better way. From the pickup point to the return, we’ve let us flow which was exactly what we needed after an intense 2 weeks trip in Egypt.
Mohamed was a great guide to take us around Alexandria. He knew the history well but still kept it funny so that the group won't be bored. Thank you Mohamed for a great day.
We had an amazing day and have learned a lot about Alexandria. Waleed is an amazing guide, takes his time to explain and speaks great English. He was very friendly and we enjoyed the tour a lot. The transfer from Cairo with Khaled and his driving style, especially within Alexandria, was great, too! Thank you very much both of you!
We have booked a day trip from Cairo to Alexandria and our Egyptologist and Guide Mr. Mohammed was an amazing part o of our tour. He was enthusiastic and full of positive energy and explained us the history in a detailed way. He made our tour more interesting and enjoyable. Will definitely recommend him for any future trips
The views were amazing. Alexandria has a lot of history. Our guide Mohammad explained all the historical facts. He is very knowledgeable & has lots of information
The tour was great. I really enjoyed getting to know Alexandria, but 1 day was too little. Furthermore, the company Viator informed at the last minute that the tour would not be with a Portuguese-speaking guide but English. This guide, Waleed, was very kind and always waited for my daughter to translate what he explained. Furthermore, he gave us a great surprise, he bought us a delicious cake to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary.
Mohamed was great and knowledgeable, I’m glad I’ve booked a guide with charisma. The Roman catacomb’s visit must add to your trip to Egypt. Totally recommend. Barbara
I had several problems with the trip. First, it’s advertised at $50 and yet I was charged $70 per person with no option for $50 to be found so the cost for me and my boyfriend was $140. Nothing included. Secondly, they were not going to make all the stops advertised on the advertisement. There was no photo op at Seapeum of Alexandria. Thirdly, the place we went to eat lunch at, Athineos, was very bad, and there was no other option for us. They also overcharged us incorrectly. Fourthly, while there was plenty of time at the mosque, the travel guide we’re both going to skip the church of Saint Mark, which is the oldest church in all of Africa. Had not spoken up this would not have through. also, there was no mention in the advertisement or by conversation at all an email or WhatsApp that we would need to bring our passport in order to go to Saint Mark so it was to everyone’s shock when the Tour guy told us that we would need to have our passport, in order to go to Saint Marks And last, but not least, there was an additional six dollar fee for going to King Farouq Palace to take a golf cart around the park. That fee was nowhere mentioned again to us before the trip. There were lots of extra charges from the time of booking the tickets until the end. I have been on many tours around the world, and I will say that this was one of the most disappointing. I would like to point out that the tour guide was very polite and so was the driver. We did see slit of things in one day!
We had a great time with our guide Mohammed. A very experienced and careful guide who made our stay in Alexandria to a wonderful event. Thanks a lot for this great day
We only had 2 days in alexandria so we wanted to see as much as possible in one day. And this tour was absolutely perfect. We seen all the sites and out tour guide Mohammed was the best. He was super knowledgeable about ancient Egypt and really accommodating to our extra requests like to go for coffee and stuff. Can’t recommend them highly enough and they are very reasonable priced for a full day private tour.
I recommend this tour for everyone! It was very beautiful and educational! Our driver was very productive and friendly and happy to help! But in this tour the best was our guide Mohamed! He knew all the details and all the tips that everyone needs to know when visiting Alexandria. Mohamed is your guy!! I recommend him and the trip for sure!
A perfect tour of Main historic places of Alexandria with Waleed as tour leader who took his time to explain each time we visited a site or monument! We really enjoyed it 😎👍
Very great tour with Mohamed. He is very knowledgeable and told us a lot about ancient egyptian, roman, greek history in Alexandria. The pickup was on time. Nice tour overall I really recommend going with Mohamed!
Very good experience. Detailed explanations and ample time given to click photographs, and patiently answered all questions. I thoroughly recommend Mohammed. Best of Luck.
We enjoyed our tour from Cairo to Alexandria with Mohammed. Mohammed has a degree in hieroglyphs and he is very knowledgeable. Make sure to check up the weather before the trip though as it’s cooler and more windy than Cairo!
The tour was great and well organized. Waleed, our guide, was very knowledgeable and personable. We hit the key sites and wasted no time. Highly recommend.
Mohammed was a great tour guide and did a great job showing us around Alexandria and giving us the history and important points of each site. This is a great way to experience Alexandria if you are in Cairo. You see all the most important aspects of Alexandria. Definitely recommend!
Very nicely priced tour with an excellent tour guide, Mohammed who gave time to each spot on the itinerary and explained everything very well.
Great tour and very knowledgeable tour guide ! We learnt a lot and enjoyed the experience! Thank you to everyone for the great day!
Great trip, and Mohamed was a fantastic guide who shared valuable knowledge of the history of Alexandria and gave us a wonderful welcome to his city. I would highly recommend.
The day trip with a small group of visitors from different parts of the world in Alexandria was really wonderful. Our guide Mohammed was very friendly and knowledgeable. In addition to visiting different historical sites, we also enjoyed a nice lunch at a restaurant with amazing view of the Mediterranean. Would like to come back with my family and friends in the near future.
This was a really good day trip to Alexandria from Cairo. Because we’ve seen most of Egypt, we were skeptical if it was worth the trip. IT WAS! It was a whole different vibe and scenery. Mohammed was our tour guide and he was sooooo knowledgeable. He explained everything thoroughly and included the dates of when historical events happened. He was able to answer all our curious questions so eloquently and also had a great sense of humor. REMINDER this is a day trip that covers most landmarks in Alexandria. It is fast pace. We were only able to see the Library from outside but if you want to go in, you may need another free day. It’s a huge Library. We got back to Cairo around 6pm in time for dinner. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see Alexandria “ in summary”
A wonderful trip! to Alexandria with Mohamed, and it was an absolute delight! The entire experience was well-organized, and I couldn't have asked for a more knowledgeable and personable guide than Mohamed. He was a great guide! We packed a lot into one day! We did the library, catacombs, Roman amphitheater, the mosque and saw the citadel Mohammed was very knowledgeable and was always checking that we were ok! He explained things really well and it was super interesting. Driver was lovely too and it was nice meeting other people on the trip!
Wow what a full day. Well worth the day trip from Cairo. Some amazing sights with a very knowledgeable, highly personable guide and a great driver. It is clear the company and guide have honed this tour over time to know the right durations for each location so that we weren't bored or rushed. Very impressed with the hieroglyph litertate guide. Thanks for a full day.
Walled is the great guide and person! He explain everything with passion, patient and knowledge! When I came back to Egypt of course I’ll text to him again to be my tourist guide!
That was excellent experience!!! Mohammed is the best guide I ever met: deep knowledge of the history; personal experience, as citizen of Alexandria; amazing humour and just incredible positive energy 🔥🔥🔥 We’ve visited castles, mosques, catacombs, amphitheater. Had very tasty fish with incredible view right on the sea. Also I liked the fact that we had time to explore places by ourselves. And thank you for the recommendation of perfume shop - I opened a new hobby for myself and now want to know everything about the art of making perfumes 💓 10 out of 10. Definitely recommend
Our Guide Waleed was so nice and knowledgeable. He made it possible for us to see everyone we wanted and more in one day and even helped us negotiate. I would highly recommend.
Mohammed, the guide, was extremely kind and helpful, he explained us everything in every detail, demonstrating a lot of passion. It has been a very good day and we learned a lot
We had an awesome experience. Our guide,Mohamed, was very good and informative. We will recommend him to our friends and relatives. :)
