This food tour was just perfect. We had a really late flight out of Egypt so we wanted something to do late in the evening. Ali and the driver picked us up right on time at our hotel and were great about communicating beforehand. Ali was super friendly and fun and answered all our questions about Egyptian food and Egyptian life. We ate amazing koshary, shawarma, babganoush, falafel, beans, a tomato eggplant dish, and sugar cane juice. I highly recommend the tour! Super delicious and fun!

Nice walking tour, we ate local favorites and then took plenty of time to visit the famous bazar and visited a mosque, with lots of insight
Had an amazing tour with Karim!! Very insightful and educational, not to mention the best food and drink Cairo has to offer. A particular highlight for me was the history and architecture, exploring the streets where Cairo was built, and learning about the beautiful ancient Islamic civilisation that raised it. Thanks Karim and team, we will definitely come back.
Highly recommend the food walk tour in Cairo with Mohammed. You will see a lot of night life in downtown and taste regular Egyptian food. We tried Koshari in one of the famous place. The next we tried shawarma from a street vendor and it was recommended in Syrian style. Also we ate kebda (some hotdog ban with liver) and stopped at sweets place where I bought Egyptian style pastries to bring home. At the end we had hot teas in a street cafe.
Our guide Mohamed was funny, witty and he was extremely knowledgeable regarding Ancient Egypt history and facts. We recommend him to everyone.
Amazing tour to try local Egyptian food! Highly recommended for those seeking to mix with the locals and feel the real atmosphere of Cairo streets while tasting delicious Egyptian typical treats. Mohammed, our tour guide and host, guided us through all the busy streets near our hotel and stopped in the best food spots to show us what koshari, shawarma, falafel, liver, and Egyptian sweets tasted like. All delicious and very clean places keeping the health standards and making us feel safe :) He was all the time taking care of the group, speaking with all of us and giving us the best pieces of information about Egyptian history and traditions. We couldn’t feel more welcome and cannot recommend him enough. A tour and guide not to miss! Ps: thanks a lot for the “How to cross Cairo streets” masterclass ;)
Trying local food is for us a must do in all our visiting countries, so if you are like us, this is a must do! Mohammed bring us to all the best places and we really enjoyed his company. Be sure to not eat anything at least 6 hours before the tour as you will eat enough food for a few days worth!;p Mohammed is a very nice and intelligent person. He is a good communicator that has so much knowledge and the tour we had with him was perfect ! I highly recommend him. I would book again next time with him!
Note: This review is based on an Egyptian food tour through GuruWalk that we did with Mohamed. Mohamed's Egyptian food tour was an absolute highlight of our time in Cairo and we'd recommend it as A MUST on your visit!! We enjoyed a fabulous evening of Egyptian dishes specifically curated by Mohammed, whose professional and personal experiences in tourism and Egyptian history are top notch. Local tips and suggestions to improve the rest of our stay in Cairo were free-flowing and he was more than happy to provide support via WhatsApp afterwards. Mohammed takes care and attention and leads with trustworthiness and passion. We already had another guide booked for Giza or else we might have insisted he take us around there too!
I would recommend the Cairo food tour with Mohamed. He was very very friendly and took lots of care to help us find good spots. I felt very safe with him as he was professional and communicated about the routes we would take. He would also ask us if we were okay with the option he proposed or if we wanted to see something else. I learned a lot and it was also lots of fun!
My guide, Mohammed Elfar, was amazing. He is friendly, kind, and considerate. Before we started the tour, he asked if I had any food allergies or dietary restrictions. We visited restaurants in the Giza area and I ate delicious food like Kebda (liver), Koshari (rice, pasta, red sauce), Pasposa (dessert), Falafel, Fuol (beans). My favorite part of the tour was walking and eating among the locals. If you want to try some delicious food, reserve this tour and request Mohammed as your guide.
Mohamed took us to the places downtown which I personally would not go but these places were really for local people and it helped to get the flavor of Cairo. I would choose a different place for coffee - Turkish coffee wasn't the best, I had a lot of much better coffee in Cairo. May be shawarma could be better - look for a better place or talk to the place people to do a bit special for the tour participants. I am sure the participants will be OK to pay a couple of more pounds to get a better taste of Cairo and Egypt. I had beef shawarma in Asyut last week and it was ways better. Please note that I am a foody and I may have a spoilt taste. In general, it was a great walk with Mohamed. Lots of interesting info, good walk and exercise, highly recommend to take it if you want to know Cairo better and get a feeling of local street food.
Great food tour around Cairo city with a local Egyptian guide. Mohamed Elfar was super helpful in navigating the city, getting local tips & tricks and making the most of our time in downtown Cairo. Thanks a lot!
It was a good trip. Thank you for the best time in Cairo, sure My next Tour package will be with Barmer tours. Thank you Mr. Mohammed Elfar
We went for a night tour with Mohammed and had a blast. Walked down the bazaar and zigzag many alleys. So much to see, and mo made it so interesting. End up eating local food which was the best meal in our 2 weeks trip in Egypt
Mohamed was amazing tour guide! I loved every second of my tour with Mohamed, he is so kind and genuine! Highly recommend!
Mohamed is a great and genuine guy! He will not only show you around town but also give you valuable tips and teaches you about Egyptian history and culture. We really enjoyed our time and can wholeheartedly recommend him!
Our group of ten booked a walking tour with Mohammed Elfa on Sunday October 22. It was our first full day in Cairo. Mohammed met us at our hotel. After a brief introduction, he took us to Bab al-Futuh as the starting point, and walked towards Baby Zuweila. We got to see a couple Mosques, tried some street foods, even did some shopping in the bazaar. During our time together Mohammed educated us on Egyptian history, culture, and architecture. He was very friendly, very personable. By the end of the walking tour, he was practically one of us... We could chat and joke with each other over a cup of coffee.
phenomenal experience and was the highlight of a great trip. mohammed felt like an old friend more than a tour guide and has a way of imparting information in an entertaining and engaging way. i very strongly recommend joining him on a tour - you will not forget it !
It's indeed a interesting pleasure in listening to an Egyptologist's view on how the past Cairo to present Cairo has been evolving. We walked through important landmarks in the city and history behind these landmarks. Entering into Khan el khalil could be a question of safety for some travellers, but with Mohammed , it was so easy. Also he knows shops where we can find the right stuffs and helped with bargain the right value. Green mint tea to beautiful mosques to Shopping to Fresh fruit juice , Night tour with Mohammed Elfar was the best I could get in Cairo.
Mo is a wonderful tour guide. He tries so hard to create a itinerary that will please everyone. He goes above and beyond to cater to your needs. It felt like I was hanging out with a friend. He is easy going, friendly and so knowledgeable. I had the best time and the food was delicious. What a great way to discover Cairo: trying local foods. I strongly recommend booking with Mo. I will definitely come back for more tours with him.
So, upon meeting Mohamed Elfar, it was like were knew each other for years. Not only is he knowledgeable of the area, but so very thoughtful in making sure we all got to our destination on time and that we were very happy.
It was great to get to see a bit of Cairo outside of the main downtown, and Mohamed was an awesome guide for it! He's friendly, open and genuinely seemed to care about the experience I was having not just in the tour, but during my stay in Cairo. Cheers Mohamed!
